Um yeah, because I mean I work over in Squamish on Squamish Land, and uh I have visited well, obviously Musqueam many times, and but I have visited the administration office at Tsleil-Waututh a couple of occasions, and uh and I've done a tour up over that way uh of some of the things that they're doing. Um because because you know they're they're doing lots for their community and they're really helping out their people, and uh but it but it's just amazing. Like the admin office is uh is is amazing, it's great, and some of the other things that they are doing there, it's just really cool. So um yeah, that'd be that'd be kind of fun if we were able to do that at some point.

It's been so long, and with that five up episode, I just started from scratch and like I wiped my prep clean, and uh yeah, we talked about some cool stuff, and maybe we could have followed up on some of that, but at this point fuck it. Whatever. Whatever. Yeah, so so we're gonna do we're yeah, we're gonna talk about some of the new shit, some of the old shit that's well is still happening anyways, and um yeah, we'll get we'll get everybody caught up here.

Okay, so listen, this this is the easiest way to put it. I haven't talked to you in four months because I almost fucking died. No, here we go. What the fuck's going on? You tell me what's up. I went to uh Viva Sue Pizza. Viva Sue Pizza is on Deer Lake Park and Canada Way-ish. So um got my regular pizza, which is a uh ground beef, pineapple, tomato, mushrooms.

I get it Thursday night, we eat said pizza, chomp chomp chomp chomp. Oh, yeah, this is good. Oh yeah, we should go back here again. Um and then I wake up in the morning and I was violently ill. Oh fuck, massive food poisoning. It was coming out of both ends. It was it lasted 24 hours, yeah, and then it lasted again another 24 hours, and then I couldn't keep anything down. Electrolytes, water, a bit of bread. Like I tried to do something and couldn't keep anything down. Uh, I'm at the girlfriends when this happens. She looks at me and goes, Yeah, you don't look very, very good. We have to go to the hospital. I'm like, oh fuck, okay. So I reluctantly went to the hospital, obviously, because no one likes going to the hospital, it's always a shit time. Uh, but um, I get so we went to VGH. Uh I checked in, whatever it is. They do the pre-preliminary inspection, whatever it is, they take training around. Yeah. So they put my uh finger in one of those heartbeat center things. Yeah, my heart rate was 175.

Uh so they're like, oh god, something's wrong. I'm like, what have you been doing today? I've been throwing up all day. Like, what do you want for me? So yeah, it moved along pretty quick because they obviously triaged me near the top. Uh, because I um the doctor later explained, who came to visit me in one of the rooms after they gave me fluids, who I promptly threw up on. Um was he's like, Oh yeah, you're massively dehydrated. So they gave me like a bunch of those inner VS um fluid things, obviously, and uh anti-nausea stuff to um help me control my vomiting. And uh and before so I was in the hospital for I think 12 hours, and before I was allowed to leave, I had to uh eat a sandwich, like hospital food sandwich. Yeah, so the first one he brought me was uh peanut butter and jelly water. I'm like, but Doc, I can't have this simulation to peanuts. He's like, Oh fuck. Uh and I also can't have this juice because it's apple juice. I'm which apples, he's like, Oh fuck, sorry. He takes a bag, walks away. He comes back with a cheese sandwich, which was the worst cheese sandwich I've ever had in my life. And then like I look at the thing and says orange juice. I'm like, okay, good. So I eat this. He's like, you have to get the sandwich down before I can release him. Okay, no problem. It's the worst sandwich, anyways. So I look at the label on the juice he gave me, like a juice cup. I open it up. I'm like, oh, this is fucking pretty good. And it's a mix between orange and apple juice. I'm like, oh god, I hope I don't have an allergy reaction here. Uh, but I was okay. So I uh I downed the sandwich, I've eaten half the sandwich, I'm going home. He's like, okay, have a good day. Um, so yeah, that was almost about five-ish weeks ago.

Um, honestly, I still don't feel 100%. I still feel sluggish energy. I still feel like I still have a like a weird body ache every once in a while. So I made an appointment with my doctor. I'm like, hey, fuck, I told her what happened like last week, and I'm like, okay, cool. So go get blood work taken out and we'll be good to go. The quickest I can get into blood work is three weeks from last week. So I go on June 11th to get my blood work done. So it takes you three weeks to go get blood work done here in uh the lower mainland of Vancouver, and um, which is honestly bullshit, but I guess it is what it is. But I mean the positive note to that is that uh I was able to call and make the follow-up appointment to the doctor. So I get the blood work taken out in two weeks, but I see like I'm able to book into my family doctor the following Monday, so it's like it all kind of works. So she should have the results and tell me what's kind of going on and all that stunned stuff. But uh she asked to see my stool, so I have to do a stool sample for the first time in a fucking long time. So I get to play with my poop.

Fit test or uh or or actual um or an actual sample that you've got to somehow. I don't want to ask for the scary details, but you you know what the fit tests are. Well they're called I think they're called a fit test. It's basically a they're they're checking for uh colon cancer, really. So I th they're checking for blood in your stool. That's what they're doing. So it's just you crap on a in the toilet on a piece of paper and you take this little stick and you just you just dip it in a little bit, and then whatever. Is so it is is that the same thing as what you're doing, or is this more too? Okay, okay. Uh I I find out June 11th. Okay. We find out together. I'll I'll share it all. I have nothing to do.

You know, you know, it's yeah, we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna have fun with this episode for sure. I'll even record it. Oh well, uh you don't have to go that far. You really don't. I think we all uh we can all figure it out. We can all I can figure it out. I mean, I you know, hey, I'm old enough now to to when it comes to all these different tests, uh and it's just routine typically, but yeah, I know what you're going through. So yeah. Um well a lot of these uh labs now they do force you to make an appointment. Um and I guess that's why you can't get in for three weeks, but yeah, typically they still allow walk-ins, so you could just show up first thing in the morning and try and get in because I I typically I know I know what it's like. I've looked online and sometimes yeah, you've got to wait two fucking weeks, especially if you know, see the hard part is when you have to fast. If you fast, which means obviously you can't eat or drink anything after say nine p.m. Um they want you to fast before for before taking blood. Well, shit, you you gotta go first thing in the morning, right? So you don't eat or drink nine nine p.m. and then you try and get your test first thing in the morning, seven or eight o'clock, or whatever it is. Because if uh you don't want to go all day without fucking eating and drinking and stuff like that, right? So, anyways, uh I typically just go down the block. I've got there's a there's a lab two blocks down, um, and I show up, they open at seven o'clock, I show up at six fifty or whatever. Half the time there's already a line up there. And uh, but yeah, that's that is the best way, at least for me, and at least for this clinic, um for for me to get blood work. I I rarely book an appointment. Um, I just try and do a walk-in, and yeah, I I'm I've been pretty lucky, I guess. I don't know, but usually works out for me. So I don't know if you want to give that a try.

Uh who knows if they're strict about walk-ins at the place you go, but yeah, it's it's not too bad, but remember, I'm I always tell everyone I'm but I'm four hours behind you. So like I my normal bedtime is like 2 p.m. or 2 a.m.

So so for me, actually scheduling the appointments awesome. Because if I have to fast for 10 hours, I go to bed at 2 and I'm up at 11. I've already fasted, so I get up pretty much brush my teeth and go get my blood taken out. So I don't have to worry about it for the most part.

Uh depends. Um I go to bed, I usually go to bed when I'm tired. So if I'm feeling tired, I'm in bed anywhere between 12.30 and 2.30. Yeah.

Well, I I know that's what you're used to, obviously, because of work. So um, so yeah. Um, yeah, and you haven't had much luck with this food poisoning stuff, because I know Yeah, it got me maybe eight months ago. Yeah, I think even sooner than that, I think. I just recall you talking about it here before, and I know we haven't chatted in a fucking long time. So maybe it has been eight months, I don't know, but like yeah, yeah, it's uh you you've either got bad luck or you got a sensitive gut or maybe a little bit of both. I don't know, but yeah, it's uh I don't know.

Well since since we're talking about uh and I don't think I mentioned this, but since we're talking about uh you know these different uh tests and body conditions and body bodily fluids and we're really opening up the door in the morning. Well we are, yeah. I don't know. It's I mean, you know what? This this this is not I mean it's not fun to talk about, and it but it's you know everybody it happens to everybody at some point, especially later in life. Well, because I had to go for uh I went for colonoscopy. Oh so um yes, my first one ever. And I you know, again, uh it's been I'm sure it was since we talked last, so I I I I I can't remember when I had the test, but but it's uh so basically what happened is like I I had one of those fit tests, the you know, the dipstick, the shit dipsticks, yeah, and um and and it does it did show up blood, and you know, so at least a small amount. Uh I mean obviously you can't see it, and so that's what the shit stick does. It uh it picks up blood in your stool. So, anyways, uh because of my age and because of that test, they suggested I go for a colonoscopy. So I did end up having that again. I can't remember when, but the the prep for the colonoscopy is so much fucking worse than the actual procedure itself. Oh god. It's fucking awful, man. It's just um basically you you essentially need to take the day off uh prior to your to your test because well you're on the toilet for um for you know for for almost 24 hours. We're certainly certainly 12 hours. It's 12 hours anyways. I mean you have to watch your diet a week before the test and then um and then you can't I think starting 24 hours for the test, you can't eat anything, but you can drink clear fluids, and then at there's there's two parts to it. You you have to buy this torpedialite or this it's basically stuff that flushes your it's like fucking it's like a rad flush. That's and that's what it does. It flushes your whole fucking system out, man. It's just it's just um you drink you have to you you have to you buy this four-liter jug and you fill it with water and it tastes like crap, even though they try and flavor it with some fruit shit and whatever. But you have to drink half of it. Like for me, my test was at early in the morning, like eight o'clock or eight thirty. So at four p.m. the previous day, I had to drink half of that fucking jug in a two-hour period.

And then you have to get up and then six hours before the procedure, which meant for me at 2 a.m., I had to get up at 2 a.m. and basically finish the rest of it off. Yeah. And that shit works so fast, uh, basically you're fucking pissing out of your asshole. I mean, it's just at a certain point you're all cleaned out and you're just fucking it just runs right through you, that fluid, and it just comes out the other end, and it's and it I mean and there's nothing there. It's all clear, right? It's all like you're completely flushed out, and which is the whole idea. They want you to be all cleaned out and so that they can go in there and and have a good look around. But uh yeah, it's it's not it's not fun. So um again, it's somebody that uh it's something that everybody has to do at some points, or at least they recommend doing it. And I mean it's a good idea. Obviously, obviously they check for um well they check for any any any bleeds, any polyps, but uh the main thing is they're they're checking for colon cancer, and uh uh you know, so obviously I I had a good result, so no cancer, and I don't have to go for colonoscopy for another 10 years, so there.

Uh you know what? I was always thinking about when I turn 45 to go to like Dubai and get one of those super medical tests done. You know, when you go to like a facility and you pay fucking two grand and then they do every test on you and they do like a CAT scan to make sure you're doing okay and and all that stuff. Have you heard about that stuff?

I I have. Um yeah, I'm sure it's pretty expensive, uh, especially going to Dubai, a place like that. Yes.

But you get it done, and there's like a lot of package deals and stuff to get that done, and um, you know, it's an investment on your health. A lot of stuff we can't get here, or you have to wait for something. So the fact that you're just able to get it done and see the results, and you get all the results and stuff, you know, might be quite an investment. And I've always thought about it like you know, the average life of uh male is like 80 years old, anything above that is a as as a gift. So you go just a little bit over halfway when your body starts breaking down, and then you kind of see what happens, do you know? So as I I always I often think about it every once in a while, like fuck, I wonder if I should still do that. I probably will go do that, but uh then you know, you gotta live life and go on other trips, and but you know, health is wealth, so you gotta get that shit done.

Yeah, it is. I mean, you have to take care of yourself and you have to be proactive. I talked about that before. You have to be you know, it doesn't mean you you need to search the internet for every little ache and pain you go through, or it doesn't mean you have to, you know, go to your doctor every single fucking week. But but uh it's it's being aware of what's happening with your body and inside your body, and you know, I find with my medical background I can I can easily do that without any problem. I think I I'm pretty aware of what's happening. Um but still you you you still can't you you still can't see what's happening, right? And and and a lot of times you know, it's too late. You find something and it's too late. And uh so I guess that's the whole idea behind some of these tests and scans and stuff that you can do. So I don't know. Isn't there isn't there a point early on in life where you just don't want to know? Or it's just it's best just to not know certain things? I I don't know. I I'm just asking that question. I I I don't have a I don't have a clue.

So but then sometimes knowledge is power. Like if you can find something right away it and get it like treated or uh the symptoms looked at or something like that, it might it might prevent an ache and pain later down the road or or something like that. So I think that if you if you live half your life and do it a ha just a little bit over your halfway point and get shit done, um you might be able to I think live a better life in your later years.

Yeah, it's it's gotta be uh it's gotta be an outrageous amount, I would think, to have some private facility, especially on the other side of the world, um you know, doing that, even if it's a package deal. All right, well now I'm kind of depressed, but here we go. Um, so you've upgraded to Linux, you're running a Linux server. Oh, sorry, you're running Linux. So is that your part of your new server now, or what is the great server crash of 2026?

Well, yeah, so I I I've been running Debian though on my desktop here for for a while. I completely replaced Windows 11 with with Debian. And it's it's oh overall, you know, I've I think I've mentioned it before, it's pretty good. I'm pretty happy that I've moved away from from Windows and all of the tracking and telemetry and shit like that, all the other crap that you typically deal with with uh with uh with Microsoft. Um so overall it's it's it's pretty good, it's pretty cool. I'm learning lots. It's uh I'm playing around with some command line stuff and and I enjoy that. So uh there there are a couple things and it's part of the fuck-ups that we have here when we chat. It's just not ideal. Some of it's not ideal for for what we're doing, and it's pretty simple stuff, really, right? It's it's and yet I still seem to have some troubles. And uh so I am thinking about going back to a dual boot. I I kind of regret needing to do it, but there's a couple other things that I that I kind of that aren't working out as well. And so I might dual boot, use Windows 11 for you know the podcast and a couple other things. I'll I'll still stick with Linux uh for day-to-day stuff though for sure. Because I I'm just I'm I'm happy with it. Um yeah, yeah, it's it's going really well. Um no, the server crash is something totally different. It happened uh would it be a couple weeks ago now, at least, at least a couple weeks, maybe a little bit longer, but I'm still recovering from. From it. It's um it really fucked things up. I've got I've got well, as you know, I've got I've got a server, I've got a Synology NAS, and I've got some other services and servers running uh back in the um storage room there. I've got a nice server rack. It's um you know things are things came together pretty good and I had things going really well. Uh but then I noticed um then some errors started happening. Uh some some hardware, some some actually some some storage errors actually ended up happening. Uh I was getting storage pool alerts and critical errors happening uh with OneDrive initially. Like it was actually my my main NAS. I've got the Synology NAS, but then I've got an expansion unit to go along with it. It was so it was the main NAS. Some hard drive errors were happening. And I thought initially I thought, okay, well, one of the drives was failing, and and it's happened once before. I I uh have a hard drive failure, I get a replacement, I do a hot swap, it works out really well. You can pull the failed drive out, pop in the new one, and away you go, right? It rebuilds, and you know, it does take a while to rebuild because they're larger drives, but basically, you know, there's no interruption in any of my uh you know, any of my server apps or applications or accessing any of my data or anything like that. But this was different. Um, the storage pool started to degrade slowly, and I had ended up getting alerts in a second drive, and I'm thinking, oh shit, man, am I like at the you know, and that point, at that point your fail safe begins to, you know, if you have one drive out of four that's failing, no problem. If you have two drives failing, well you are are at risk of losing data. And I I was at that point where I like things were getting pretty like I was getting scared, I was getting pissed off. Yeah, you know, I've got backups of my critical data, like my like my data, like my personal data. I've got backups, my music is the other thing I've got a backup of, and uh, you know, but then there's the other stuff, like you know, stuff for Plex and and and all that sort of stuff. So there was a whole shitload of other stuff that I was at risk of losing. Uh it basically though, but it got to a point where it like it failed. Like it's it like it's like I couldn't do anything.

So are you running RAID on the server here or no? Well, it's it's called uh it's it's Synology's um it they call it SHR. Uh and I for always forget what SHR stands for. Um it's like a RAID. There is some redundancy just because I can hot swap a drive in and out, right? So yeah, so there is, you know, that it's not meant for for backups, but it is meant to basically you lose it, you lose a drive, you can swap it out with and put in a new one, right? So there is some redundancy. I don't know a comparison how that compares to the RAID system. It is SHR is Synology's own form of RAID. Um that's not what it says on the Google, yeah.

So um, you know, I know there's different levels of RAID as well. You you you know it's not RAID six, I know there's uh five and six. I don't know if SHR compares to RAID five or not. Anyways, obviously if you increase your your level of RAID, we'll we'll just use that as an example. It it uses more um you have less drive capacity, I guess, or less storage capacity. Like let's say out of those four drives, I would only be able to have two of them that are usable because uh that's how that's how RAID works. Whereas with mine, I have well all four drives are being used, but again, I I'm able to lose one drive and carry on without any problems. I don't yeah. Anyway, anyway, I I basically lost I lost the storage pool, which means and it was my primary storage pool, and which means I lost everything. I could have tried to uh rebuild and restore it, but I but the thing is I wasn't sure if I actually had a hard drive failure or not. And again, it it's it ended up affecting two drives. So am I am I um so am I losing like like like so that's the thing because it would involve two drives, I basically wrote it off. I I basically said fuck it, I've got to start over. I'm going to lose all that data. I have backups of my important stuff, so you know this it sucks, but I don't at that point it was something I had to do. So I I basically rebuilt the operating system on the NAS, and then I slowly uh I added one drive at a time, and and again, I restored what I could. I I I added the one drive, began the storage pool with a second drive, um, and then I I slowly restored the data that I could that I knew was on backup. It's an external drive, so uh so there was no problem. And as I was going along, I was checking to see if there were any hard drive errors or anything like that. So what uh what the errors also showed me was that like there were there were power interruptions. So that's what led me to believe, okay, well, maybe this isn't a hard drive failure, maybe this is a power problem. And so I immediately ordered a uh not a power supply, but a just a power adapter. So because what I was thinking is that power adapter was failing, which meant there were interruptions in power in powering four drives. Two and two of them ended up you know failing essentially because they could they couldn't have it, they didn't have enough power. That's what was happening. That's what I determined was what was happening uh along the way. Because again, I ordered that power supply, power adapter, which is only 50 bucks. That's why I was willing to say spend that money and just you know, yeah. Um it's not like it's not like I'm spending thousands of dollars here and not still not knowing what was going on. Hey, spend fifty bucks, uh, still check to see if I've got a drive failure, but but connect that new power adapter and just kind of bring things back up and see where I'm at, right? So yeah, as it turns out, I finally built the storage pool with all four drives. It looks like there's no problems with the hard drives at all. So it was a power adapter, but again, that that caught us caused all of those critical errors, and basically the whole system crashed because of it. So um, so yeah, so but it but again, so so it's so it's good. I've got the server back up and all four drives going, and everything looks good. The power adapters uh you know all good as well, no errors or anything like that. Obviously, I've started to I've restored the data I could. I'm starting to collect some of the other data that I was missing or things I was missing. Uh everything looks good, but it's a it's a long process, man. It's just yeah, you know, to it takes a whole week because they're 16 terabyte drives, it takes a whole week for each drive to um to to add it to the storage pool.

So so yeah, maybe it's been four weeks now since that all happened, I think. Cause it's because again, all four drives are now in there and running. Um so yeah, anyways, it's it's yeah, it's been a long process. It is it's probably I'm never going to get some of the stuff back that I lost. Um again, some of it's not all that important, but but it's uh it's just a pain in the ass. It's been taking up a lot of my time. Um and here's the other thing that really pisses me off is that for a while there especially I was thinking, well, okay, at least initially before I before I the whole thing crashed, I thought, okay, I'm going to I need to order a drive replacement, like so I can do the hot swap, right? Yep. And the prices of drives now, and you know this, and we've talked about it before, the prices of drives and hardware and memory have just gone through the roof. Yeah, like like that, those 16 terabyte drives that I bought, and sure, some of them are old now, and yeah, I you know I can't remember how the last one I bought when it was. It's probably been two or three years since I bought one, and I don't have a spare, and which you know I probably should. But um, those drives were under $400 back, whatever I bought them. Yep. If you want a if you want a 16-terabyte drive now, you're gonna have to pay over $800. They have doubled in price because of all this other shit that's going on in the world. Um, and it's the same thing with memory, it's the same thing with a lot of other hardware. Um, video cards have been kind of through the roof for a while now, anyways. But anyways, it's just ridiculous how expensive this stuff has become. It's it's it's crazy. And I I really don't understand why. I don't. I like I know there's been you know, we talked about some of the issues going on in the world, and you know, chip chips, uh, you know, these uh facilities, the chip fires. That was that was a kind of a start of all of this, I think. There was a big facility over in Asia, I think, a big warehouse or a big factory uh basic burnt down, I think. And and since then it just things have been creeping up in price and it's been affecting everything when it comes to technology and computers now. Um but yeah, like why should a hard drive be double in price from where it was two or three or four years ago or whatever? Uh it's just it's crazy. It really is.

It's so it's yeah, it's not the power supply with the fan and and all of that inside the unit. It's just basically what you use to plug it in with from the wall. And gotcha. You know, if there is a brick, and and the brick does have to be a certain have certain specs, obviously, in order to run four drives in particular. Like it has to run the board and your memory and and the fan and and all that sort of stuff inside. But it also has to provide enough wattage to power your hard drives, and I think that's what happened was that thing failed, not enough power was going to the drives, and and of course, things were uh trying to write to the drive and failing, and yeah. So things kind of corrupted and critical, yeah, just everything went downhill pretty quick, yeah.

I read, especially if your drives have cash enabled, if they are if which which mine did, I've turned I've since turned that off because I think for what I do since since I re re rebuilt my NAS, uh cash has been turned off because I don't like it's not like I'm running a business, it's not like multiple people are you know accessing documents on my server or anything like that. So I've turned cash off. Uh so far I haven't noticed a performance hit or anything like that. But but but that's what a lot of people had said is if you have a UPS, it should prevent these um these power fluxes going to the drives. But that yeah, that it didn't it didn't help me. Because because the unit didn't actually lose power, right? It was just not enough power at times going to the to power the drives. Yeah. So um yeah, really, really unusual. I I I I don't know. It yeah, it just sucks. Um you know, again, it's it's it's not that you know I hated losing all that shit, but it's that's not the issue. It's just the whole of the fucking time that I've I've had to put in. Like I was up, I was up till two or three in the morning a few nights. Number one, trying to figure things out, but number two, rebuilding things along the way, and it's just been so time consuming. It's just yeah, it's just uh yeah. It's I mean I've always I always enjoy playing around with stuff and I probably play around with too much. I've got too much shit going on here, and I always wanna and some of the stuff ends up getting built and then I leave it or forget about it. Like stuff is half done in in a lot of cases, and um and then something like this comes along and just kind of throws an even bigger wrench into it. So anyway, that's been my uh my fun, my experience over the last month or so, anyways, as if there isn't enough fucking going on in life. I had to deal with that too.

So I don't have that off-site backup, whether it's in the cloud or um you know, uh, you know, uh hard drive stored at my mom's place or as an example or whatever. I don't have that. Um I guess by rights I should, but at the same time, I don't know that my data is that critical. No, I don't want to lose a lot of the stuff, you know, all my photos, all my personal files. Uh like I don't want to lose that stuff. So I did have one backup of that at least. Um but yeah, I guess I do fail the 321 test, anyways.

And photos is actually a really easy one to back up. Like, I I'm using the batch of Google for it, and I have all my phone backup, like everything's backed up to the cloud. I pay 30 bucks a year for it. So I have all my photos since the cloud launched, um, which is I don't know, 2016 is when they first started Google Photos, I think it was. Yeah. Uh, so I have all the photos of uh of that, which is pretty cool to have access to it. I mean, I'm never really gonna go back to it, but uh I have the photos, every photo I've taken via my cell phones over the years are backed up to Google Cloud. So I mean that's cool in that sense because photos obviously say a thousand words, and I I do enjoy the photos, but uh yeah, but it's it's that personal diet that you need, and some of that stuff can be kept on like you're right, it's it's uh off site, but it's it you can use like a 32 gig key to back most of that shit up, like you can have that you know in a safety secure safety deposit box or at your mom's or or wherever you need it, just in case you you do need it.

I was fighting um I didn't have much free hard drive space. And uh now I've got lots. You'll never get those episodes of MATLAB back, but uh I'll be better off for it, right? So um, but yes, uh I use Image, by the way. I use something called Image. Uh it's one of the other server the servers I've got running, you know, back in that room, and that backs up and uh it syncs with all of my photos off my phone. Um it's a it's an awesome Google Photos replacement. Um Google doesn't know what I'm doing on a daily basis, like they know what you're doing. Yeah, and where you where you are and what you're doing, and uh yeah, yeah, you've got uh you've got a I I I know it's convenient, I know it's only 30 bucks, as you said, uh, but um I'm just a little blip in the map, you know. This my biggest problem with the playoffs this year, and I've been watching even though Boston lost, I always like watching hockey, no matter who's playing, especially the playoffs. This year I will there, and there were some good games this year, really good hockey games, but but you know what, overall, I would say that things the competitiveness, no, maybe that's not the right word, but how much how can I put it? If you look at the number of games, the number, sorry, the number of series that went six or seven games, uh, it was very, very few, or not very few, smaller than usual, I think. Even in that first round, you typically get games or series that go six or seven games and they're fun. Every single game is good. Um this year, Carolina, who did they beat again? Uh oh yeah, well, Carolina beat Montreal. So Carolina won uh lost one game out of three series they played. Oh, they only lost one game. Uh Vegas, they've they it took a little them a little bit more to get to the final here. But but I think a lot of people are saying that the the it's just not as good. Basically, that's what it is. It's not as it hasn't been as good. And um and what is the reason for that? I like I don't I don't have an answer. I don't know what what it is. Is it the salary cap? I mean, typically that would make it more competitive and more make teams more on a level playing field, which I guess it sort of has, but at the same time, you've you've got a you've you've got some teams that are just so good playing teams that just aren't as good, and they end up you know winning in four or five games. And there's been more of that happen this year and probably in the last couple years. So a lot of people are thinking, well, uh one of one of the things that I would like to see number one is changing the playoff format because now there's two playoff, two wildcard teams. The the first place in the conference plays the second wildcard team, regardless of what division you're in, and number two in the conference plays the first wildcard position, and then there's two and three in each division. Uh explaining that real quick. I don't know if you you get that. But what people are saying is that it should be one eight, two seven, three six, and four and five playing in the playoffs instead of the way it is now. And I think that would make a big difference. I think it's time for the NHL to make a change again.

Um uh so but uh they had uh a music night. I've talked about the music nights. Uh so a bunch of us got together on the Saturday nights out there and uh played some tunes and shit. It was uh you talk about going to bed at 2 and 3 in the morning all the time. Well, I never do it anymore, but but that morning we were up till like 3 30, I think, uh listening to tunes and stuff. So uh it was it was a good time, a lot of fun. So that's where I was the uh because I went out Friday. Uh that's where I was on on the on the Saturday. Um, so I missed Record Store Day. Well, I shouldn't say that. I did we did go to um what's the name of the record store there in Cam Loops? We we did go there, they had a handful of Record Store Day releases. Uh I think I picked up one, but a good friend here back home um who couldn't make it out to Camloops that weekend, he took a list of all of our stuff uh that we wanted for Record Store Day, and I picked up he picked up a couple things for me. Um he picked up a Judas Priest live album and there was one other one uh that I had on my list. Anyways, he was able to grab those for me, which is really cool of him. Um yeah, definitely nice of him. He was out there early in the lineup and got in pretty early and got uh most of the items on everybody's list, so that was nice. Everybody had a everybody picked something different, which is really cool too, right?

Allison Bree is playing the evil witch, whatever her name is. And I don't even know who's playing He-Man. I can't even tell you. I have to look that up right now. Nicholas Glazard Glazard scene. Uh, yep, don't know who this guy is, but uh uh hopefully it's pretty good. And I also bought uh pre-bought tickets for disclosure day, which is the new Steven Spielberg flick, uh, with Emily Blunt taking the lead for that. So a lot of movies in the theaters coming up, but not so many home viewings.

Uh I mean I I I wouldn't say it was slow or dragged on a little bit, but it wasn't it wasn't this big action-packed uh you know wall-to-wall um you know, mission impossible type movie or anything like that by any means. But yeah, it was still pretty good. Uh I I enjoyed it. The ending was kind of cool how it uh twisted around there a little bit. Amaze, amaze, amaze. Yeah. I I did watch both of the Ready or Not movies. The first one came out what about about six years ago or something like that. And then the the newest one was just out uh just this year. Uh that first movie is awesome. The first re have you seen it? The first ready or not? It's it's it was entertaining, it was a lot of fun. I I really I really enjoyed it. The second one is the is kind of the you know, it's kind of the same same thing. It is a sequel, but it's um actually it's a direct sequel. I think it doesn't it continue on right after the first one ended. Anyway, uh it it's it's kind of the same thing, so it's not as you know, it's it it's good, it's worth watching, but it's it's kind of the same thing. So uh the first one's really good. You should check it out. Okay. Uh Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, the latest movie called Ghost War. I saw that we saw that. Is that cool? It's it's okay. It's it's Jack Ryan. It's kind of a kind of a sequel to everything that happened in in the past as well with the TV series and and that sort of stuff. So uh I mean I think it's interesting if you've been watching that stuff, you know, why not check out this movie too? It's nothing nothing special, but it was okay. Uh last night I watched uh Send Help. That's pretty it's pretty good.

I think there's six or seven seasons or something. You know, it started off okay, and we heard it was pretty good, and being HBO, we thought we'd check it out. It's uh it's actually about a family that runs a funeral home in Los Angeles. The father dies uh uh right at the beginning, actually, so it's the rest of the family carrying on the business and everything that goes along with it. It's funny how each episode begins with a death. So I mean that's so so it's so it's it's a bunch of different ways to die, basically, to start each episode, so it's kind of funny. And then it you know, and it's it does play a part in the rest of the each, you know, that episode, but you know, obviously there's all kinds of other things going on in life and and whatever. Um uh what's his name? Michael C. Hall is is in it. He of course went on to which what was this show that he went on to really big and famous? Uh uh what the hell is the show? Oh yes, yeah, for sure. And there's some interesting choices on there, I think. I mean, I think I think all the all of the ones that we've talked about and the usual recommendations are are there, but yeah, there's a couple of surprises too. So uh maybe I'll have to look at that a little bit closer. And yeah, because I'm always looking for these uh I always want to look uh take advantage of the of the video audio video system and you know I think a lot of the movies I had seen before at some point, but uh to not in that kind of setting. So uh I I would definitely watch them again. Um so yeah. And and because of the server crash, it means I've got to uh finally kind of start over again with uh with that stuff, yeah.

Uh for those of you wondering, the top five are number one is Blade Runner, number or Blade Runner 2049, sorry, the sequel. Uh number two is Dune, the newer one. Uh, number three is Mad Max Fury Road, number four is Ready Player One, and number five is uh The Batman.

Uh have you seen those? Uh no, uh you know, you know what? I think I have not seen any of those. I mean, I think I've seen all the movies except for that second Doom Dune movie. Oh, okay, yeah. Uh oh, you know what? No, Ready Ready Set One, what's the name of the movie? Uh Ready Player One. Ready Player One. I've not seen that either, actually. No, I mean not at all. Like it's I I have not seen any of them on the new sound system, audio video system, but I've not seen uh a couple of those movies at all. So um yeah, I heard Ready Player One or again. I forget the name again or Ready. You just said it.

So definitely uh definitely get on that. Um trying to figure out what the hell he's done recently. Uh Peter's beep. Oh, I want to talk about Frum. So Frum is that movie or show where they drive into the city and they can't get out, right? Uh forest, whatever it is.

Yeah, it's in a small town uh and they keep going in circles. They always it always happens the same way. There's a tree that crashes onto the road, and right from there things go fucking haywire and they end up stranded in this in this town and they don't know how to leave, and of course there's a bunch of a bunch of shit happens at nighttime and people get killed and uh yeah. A bunch of strange shit happens without giving away too much, I guess. But yes, that's that's the series. Is it worth watching? It's I think it's worth worth watching if you're into that. You know, if you're into the horror films and or horror TV shows and that sort of stuff. I mean it's a little slow at times too, but but um yeah, I I it's it's got me hooked, and you know, obviously I want to keep watching it here now. So perfect. We'll see where it goes. I think there's supposed to be a season five already uh that they might be working on, so even though season four is only halfway done.
