Why would you want to listen to two old guys yelling at clouds? And the worst thing, one of them is a fucking Swiftie. Anyways, if you're still listening, here's Adam and Steven.
SPEAKER_03Yes, welcome onto it, another episode of Old Men Who Yell at Clouds. We are Sunday, May the 16th. It is a beautiful, beautiful 22 degrees in Vancouver, British Columbia. My name is Adam, and I'm of course joined by Steven. Hello, Steven. Hello, Adam. Uh so as always, do you have a number of a hockey player who starts with number 66 to kick off this episode? 66, Mario Lemieux. Holy shit! Super Mario.
SPEAKER_02Super Mario. Yeah. One of the greatest hockey players of all time, for sure.
SPEAKER_03Oh, for sure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Do you know where he falls stats wise? That one was easy. So. Well, he's he's uh He doesn't own the records like Wayne Gretzky does by any means, but he was still one of the greatest players of the game.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I agree. Yeah. I actually got the chance to see Super Mario play with uh against the Vancouver Canucks at one point. Did you? I forget what year it was.
SPEAKER_02How many goals did he score?
SPEAKER_03He scored two, I think. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So yeah, he was doing really good. But the Canucks actually won that game. I remember them winning like four or three. Alright. So, but uh curious to look that one up.
SPEAKER_02For sure, yeah. But great for the game. Uh yeah, again, obviously some health issues. Maybe those cut his career shorts. Obviously, he had he had cancer, but he came back from that, played some more hockey, and that was really cool. Played for Team Canada, you know, again, you know, scored some awesome goals for Team Canada. Um, so fun to watch. And um uh now, of course, he's one of the owners of the Penguins. And um I think I think he, you know, that that team continues to have success with him around. So yeah, so good on him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh shit. So another week has come and gone. I have been getting my ass kicked with this new job. I'm doing a bunch of training. Yeah and uh this training is just it's I'm pretty much essentially learning a new language. So oh just learning about the way the machines work and the language and then what to do with the customers and the public and how they interact with those machines out in the w in the wild. Like it's been four weeks of getting my I just finished a study group. Yeah. So we're starting uh we were gonna start at 5, but it's 4 30 Vancouver time, PSD. And um we're supposed to start at 5, but we finished at 4 because we're just everyone's just so fucking brain dead for this shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well that's crazy. I forgot that you were doing these study sessions during the weekends because you're slammed during the week working hard and training hard, and then you've got this during the weekend too.
SPEAKER_03So um it's just a pain in the ass. And plus my broken foot. Um so we've I finally got my first paycheck from new company, and WorkSafe is hold helding back, they're holding back money. I have a pay stub it says held by WorkSafe BC. And I'm like, what the fuck? So I have a usable uh out of out of out of it's close to sixteen hundred bucks. I have a usable $136 that I can that they release to me. So they're holding ransom this amount of money.
SPEAKER_02So that's like so what? So like 90%, or I don't know, whatever that's like there. Holy fuck.
SPEAKER_03And I called my claims adjuster, I'm like, what the fuck's going on? I I can't do anything with $196. What is it? $136? $136? It doesn't work to me. Like uh, so I'm waiting for her to get a hold of me, but she's gonna call me on Monday while I'm in class, so that's not gonna fucking work. So it's just so I left her another message. I'm like, I'm it's I'm I'm in school this week, so leave me a detailed message on how I can get the rest of my release, my funds released, so I can actually pay rent and car insurance and gas and shit for it.
SPEAKER_02Well, so so what is what is the story with that? Like, so are they still reviewing your status or or and and like how like i are is it a is there a chance that you may not get that money at all, or like what's what the hell? How can they do that?
SPEAKER_03I I don't know. And it they're just uh I I understand, I kinda understand what they're doing, but I don't understand why, because I'm not I'm a pretty black and white case.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh because I I broke my foot on the previous job, I'm moving toward a new job, and it it's pretty much a cut and go thing. Plus, I'm taking on the physio weekly and doing everything I need to do to get back to where I was when I broke my foot. But I just I don't understand why I'm getting a hold on this new employer's check because it's held by work safety.
SPEAKER_02It doesn't make any sense to me. Yeah, that fucking bites. Uh that sucks. Uh oh well, hopefully that gets worked out soon. Uh to to the to the the training that you're working on, and I don't know how much you can talk about it, but like it is good that you're getting some people skills. Is that how is that a good way to put it? I don't know. Like how to how to interact with people, how to interact with customers, how to um is there any sort of um what's the word I'm looking for? Like uh if there's any uh if there's any issues, uh there's there I'm there's a word I'm looking for and I forget any de-escalation, I guess. Is that is that kind of part of in case there's any incidents and uh disagreements and problems and that sort of thing. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03So we had a um a police officer come talk to us for a day about how to de-escalate situations and certain keywords to use. Yeah, and if you know that you're kind of being you're fear you're in danger of how to react and how to read your surroundings and stuff. Yeah. Um for the most part it doesn't really happen, but sometimes you're working by yourself, it has the potential to happen. So, so we're trained to learn how to do that now. But because I'm before because when I start the new job, I'll be part-time. Okay, I'm always working with someone, like there's gonna be a like there's never gonna be a point until I move to full time that I'm not gonna be working with someone that's full like full-time. So I always got some backup until I make the switch to get my bearings and get my ropes. But for the most part, yeah, it was a pretty eye-opening uh like experience to get this training from the police officer. Because he was telling us, and he's most of us got hired because we had to go through the 19 interviews. So they did a bunch of that stuff with us on the phone and different situations and how you would handle the situation. And it's pretty black and white. Uh, but he was telling us that there's actually no the way they mark that was great. So A was you're okay, B was you're in danger. Well, I don't forget, but it was A to D. Okay. And you he's like, the reason why you're all here is because you got all A's. Because you all handled the way without even getting the without the training, you all handled the situation the way you should naturally think about it. But here are the tools for you guys to use it as you need it out in the field. So it was pretty cool that way. But a lot of it was unfortunately because of the COVID pandemic and stuff going on. Um there's a lot of people uh using how do I put this without giving away what the hell I'm doing. There's a lot of people using the transportation system to injure themselves. So there's a lot of scenarios and based people hurting themselves on public transit, which we have to deal with. Yeah. And uh there's a lot of training involved in the steps and the precautions on how to deal that, and if it happens, what to do, and how fast you have to react, and all the certain radio communications you have to use. So it it's super fascinating. But again, we're learning a new language. And what super sucks for me is that we're running through these scenarios on the weekend. And I've been taught, because I mean we talk on we're podcasters, but I talked to the radio beforehand, low uncle talked on the radio. And um what what happened was we've been told to paint the story. So my story, like what I'm supposed to say on the radio, like on terrestrial radio, is paint the story. So in my room, I have a queen-size bed with a Spider-Man blanket and baby Yoda pillow sheets, and like a Star Wars pillow sheet, and you know, my air conditioner's thing, and my bed is brown. I'm supposed to stay, and this new job is yeah, I have a bed in my bedroom. Like I have to keep it as precise as normal. And when I'm doing these reviews with my supervisors and the testers, I'm giving up too much information. Like I'm giving them too much information when it's supposed to be clear and precise. Right. So I can't go into the Spider-Man blanket and the baby Oda sheets. I have to go, I have a big bread, or I have a big brown queen-sized bed in my bedroom. Like that's what I have to say. I can't say any of the other stuff, but I'm so ingrained storytellers, so we're so ingrained and telling the story that I can't do that on the job. So I've been getting yelled at for that. And my doctor goes, She's like, You're too smart for this job. You cannot say that stuff. She's like, You're so trained to talk to people and give stories, but you can't do that here because the radio needs to be precise and quick, because there's a lot of people using the radio. I'm like, okay, yeah, I get that. So reteaching my brain how to do that is kind of a pain in the ass.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_03But I'm getting there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, that's good. Yeah, I and again, I guess it's just learning and practicing and getting experience, right? So yeah, that's cool. Right on. Well, good to hear it's going well anyway.
SPEAKER_03So that's my week. Um to happen this week. Oh, I bought another Phillips Hue light. Oh fuck.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_03You're addicted now, man. I need well, because I have the one I have one in the corner, I have the three behind my desk, I have one on the floor, but now I have one underneath my bed. So that's the one that's the one I put that's the one I bought. And they go for a hundred and they go for a hundred dollars on um like Best Buy or Amazon, whatever it is. So I was on the Facebook Marketplace, and some dude was selling it for $25. Oh shit. And I'm like, I'm like, what's wrong with it? He's like, nothing. It's brand new in a box. I'm like, why are you getting rid of it? And uh he didn't really answer. He's like, so when do you want to meet? I'm like, whenever the fuck you want. So I met him on Saturday, and it was brand new in the box. I looked at it, nothing was open. While he was there, I opened the box and it was brand new, sealed, and everything. So I was good. I'm like, so why don't you want this anymore? He's like, it fell off the back of the truck. Um it's like, okay, so I'm bilinging stolen goods. That is awesome. But whatever. Oh, here you go. Have a good day. So technically, yeah. I bought it off someone.
SPEAKER_02So what is what is this light? What is uh is it a what what kind of light is it?
SPEAKER_03It's a Phillips Hugh Go light.
SPEAKER_02Oh, a go light, okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03So it's just placed underneath the bed, and uh because I'm I'm trying to get the full what did we call it last week's sex room?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well that was that's that I was just gonna say, like you've got them under your bed now, so it is really a fucking sex room you're building there. Why don't you just admit it?
SPEAKER_03Yep, a sex room for one. Yeah. Uh but there's yeah, so I got uh one, two, three, four, five, six. I have six in total. Holy shit. No, I have seven in total. Seven, I have now seven in total, which I am super stoked about.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, you've got to sneak the girlfriend in through the fucking bedroom window there, and there's something like that so that so the other roommates don't know what's going on, and uh just yeah, you can't yeah, you can't just let that cool effect go to waste now. Come on.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I know. I know. Uh one, two, three, four, five. Oh, sorry, I have seven lights. Seven lights. Wow. Well, good for you. And and I I do want one more now, just to get the uh because I need one on top of my armor here, just to fully get the full room lit up like a fucking Christmas tree.
SPEAKER_02Right. No kidding.
SPEAKER_03So I uh hopefully I can find one more piece of uh one more light that's falling off the back of the truck and I'll be good to go. Because these things aren't cheap.
SPEAKER_02No, they aren't. And you know, I was yeah, I've been looking a little bit more at them lately too. Uh like I said, keep saying, uh I have I have well, I guess it was a starter kit. So it came it was the bridge with three three bulbs. So uh and and that's been working out for us really good. One in the living room, one in the bedroom, kind of one here in the kind of a like on the bookcase and stuff like that. And yeah, you know, the living room one probably gets put to use the most and it works out really well and everything like that. So but I've been thinking about what else I could do as well. And maybe I'm getting a little hooked like you. The the the strips the strips are really cool, like you can mount them on top of uh like I could put one on top of my vinyl cabinet uh or where I've got my vinyl stored and stuff like that. I could put it on top of the bookcase, it would look kind of cool, just you know. Uh of course you can buy the strips that go around your TV, but we just have a fucking shitty 40-inch TV anyway, so yeah, I'm not gonna bother with anything there. But the one thing I've been looking at is some outdoor lights for our patio. Oh, those are wrapped. I've been yeah, there's some really cool ones. There's there there is an outdoor strip. It's the the one of them. The only problem with the strips is that you can't join them together. So I think there's a five-meter one, which you can't buy anywhere. I've been looking at Best Buy at uh you can't buy them online, you can't buy them on Amazon, you can't buy them anywhere, the the five-meter one. The only other one is the two-meter one. Well, that it's just the two meters isn't very long, at least not for our patio. And again, you can't join them together. So, what I've been looking at is there are other lights. You've got like some smaller spot lights that you know go on the go on the ground or whatever. Uh, but the one I've been looking at is the they call it the armor armorat, amor rat, linear lights. So basic basically it's a light bar, it's got a reflective shield, and you shine it up against the a wall or or or whatever, right? And those you can join together. So like if you put two of those together or three of those together, kind of create a cool effect on your outside wall or your you know on your patio and stuff. Um, so that's what I've been looking at, but those aren't cheap. Like those are 170 bucks each, and you have to buy the power supply on top of that. Uh and the power supply. Yeah, oh yeah. So there's two different power supplies. I think there's a 40 watt power supply. I think you'd be able to join two lights together using the 40 watt power supply. The other one I think is a 90 or 100 watt power supply, and you could probably join like five or six lights together or something like that. Uh, anyways, that that power supply I think is like 90 bucks or 95 bucks. So for one of these lights with the power supply is uh well, what is that? That's like 270 bucks or something like that, plus tax. Yeah, holy fuck. So I'm having a hard time justifying that right now. So uh the other thing I want to wait for is um uh the wife is kind of doing her plants and trees and shrubs. I think tomorrow actually she's gonna go buy some small shrubs, well which will look good on one section of our patio, and then I'll see what that looks like, and then go from there to see how uh how these Phillips Hue outdoor lights will work out. So anyway.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've never seen that light you've talked about. I just looked it up. These are fucking cool. Yeah, they are this would it this would enhance my sex dungeon so much.
SPEAKER_02Well, for sure. Like like you could put one of those under the bed and it would probably look a whole fucking lot better. The effect would be awesome.
SPEAKER_03Damn it, Steven.
SPEAKER_02See, there you go. More spend more money.
SPEAKER_03No, I I I'm good for sex dungeon number one. Maybe if uh maybe if I get another one. But have you checked Home Depot?
SPEAKER_02Uh actually, Home Depot does have these in stock. They they don't have, again, they don't have the light strips. Uh nobody has the light strips, but they they do have they do have these um well, whatever these lights are called. These uh uh yeah, I don't know. I don't know what you want to call them. They call them an uh Amran Amranz linear lights. We'll just call them linear lights. How about that? They're yeah, Home Depot. Well, Amazon has these uh linear lights as well, so but uh they're not any cheaper on Amazon compared to Home Depot, so I I know the Home Depot on Terminal Avenue has these in stock. So if I want one, I know where to find them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's good.
SPEAKER_02If I want to spend some money, I know where to find them.
SPEAKER_03Well, and that's all it is. It's just m you're just burning money for these things. Wow, fuck, I know.
SPEAKER_02It's like uh you know, we're spending more money on rent here at our new place, and um I'm you know, we're trying so we're trying to save money just because you know it's gonna it's gonna cost us, you know, a fair bit. And we spent so much money on the move, too. Like like I complained about uh numerous times, you know, our move probably set us back like thirty five hundred bucks. So you know, trying to save money, and yet, you know, all these toys and come along and you know, buying vinyl and like it it just seems like it never ends, right?
SPEAKER_03Never ends.
SPEAKER_02But that's why we work. So hey, it's uh fuck. We don't have any kids, we might as well spend it on ourselves. Fuck it.
SPEAKER_03We might as well buy lights for a sex dungeon. That's right. You but you're gonna have an outdoor one, so that's even cooler. Well, yeah.
unknownFuck.
SPEAKER_02Put on a show for the uh office workers across the way.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You can do the helicopter. Put the light behind it and really gone. Fuck.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that would that would look awesome.
SPEAKER_03Get some glow sticks going on.
SPEAKER_01Be a pretty cool performance, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_03Oh shit. Uh so that's where I'm at today. Okay. Um anything else? Apparently you bought a new vacuum.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, so uh, you know, fuck it. You know, I hate I hate vacuuming. I'll I'll say that right now. I hate vacuuming and I hate doing dishes and yeah, just typical housework shit. The thing with vacuuming though is that it's fucking hard in the back. And being being an old guy like I am, like uh I I the thing is we've owned some different vacuums over the years. We've had we've had an upright uh we've had the canister vacuum that you kind of you so you've got the long hose and you pull the fucking canister part B behind you. And and they're all just a fucking pain in the ass. They're heavy, they suck. Uh actually, some of them don't suck all that well, which is part of the problem. Um and yeah, it's just it's too much of a chore, it seems, but obviously it's something that needs to be done. So in our new place, uh we're looking around, we're thinking about well, how can we just make this easier? Because with cats, especially and hardwood floors and carpets, you know, we you've got to vacuum all the time.
SPEAKER_04I guess.
SPEAKER_02And uh, yeah, for sure. So, you know, what what can we do here that's going to make this as easy as possible, and that would which which would make us essentially want to do this uh more often or as often it as it needs to be done. And so I was looking online, and of course there's the Dysons. Like everybody talks about the Dysons and how fucking wonderful they are, and um but they're fucking expensive too. Like like some of the top-end Dysons go for like 900 bucks. Uh even the cheaper ones, even some of the cheaper ones I think are five or six hundred bucks. And and they you know what? I mean it sounds like they work okay. Uh a lot of people rave about them. Um but but they're you know they're they're cordless, of course, so obviously they run off battery. Now that's the I think that's the biggest issue with those. People just say that the batteries suck and they they fucking stop working after a couple years. And um, you know, you could probably only even vacuum your place for 30 minutes. I mean, we don't have a big place, maybe that's all we need. But you know what? It's hard to fucking justify that kind of money for a fucking vacuum. Um never mind sex lights, fuck it. I'm not spending that much money on a vacuum. So uh so, anyways, we were looking around. We ended up buying a I think the those the Dysons are considered like a stick vacuum. That's what they are. They're a stick vacuum. So we we did look at another stick vacuum, except um uh it was uh it was a cord. It was no so not cordless, not battery operated, it was a regular plug-in vacuum, but still a stick, so it's smaller, a little bit easier to maneuver. Um anyways, we ended up buying one for Best Buy last week. Uh I actually like to buy, I'd rather buy from London Drugs, something like that. I would buy from London Drugs. London London Drugs is Canadian, exactly. They and they have a great return policy too. And if anything goes wrong, you can fucking take it back, no questions asked, um, and whatever. So, but their selection wasn't as good, so we went to Best Buy. I did find one there. Uh, I think we ended up paying with you know about $330 for it. So it was a better one. Again, you know, we have to consider the cats and picking up cat hair and all that kind of shit. And a powerhead, it's got to have a power head for the carpets and everything. Uh so $330. Well, uh so far we've been pretty happy with it. Uh it seems to be working quite well, and it's uh I think it's I think it's gonna do a pretty good job for us. But I I didn't, you know, I wasn't happy about spending $330. But we just noticed yesterday that it just went on sale at Best Buy.
SPEAKER_04Oh fuck.
SPEAKER_02Uh so I went to Best Buy and said, hey, we picked up this vacuum last week. It's now on sale. Uh do you do price corrections or anything like that? Oh fuck yeah, no problem. So yeah, I fucking we saved 70 bucks. So I got seven I got 70 bucks back. It fucking justifies that purchase. 100%. So it does pay to it pays to shop around. It pays to uh you know keep keep checking even after you make a purchase, you know, just kind of look around and see what else is out there. Because there's price matching too. Like other you know, it's not only price corrections, but price matching if some other store puts it on sale or you know, and it's cheaper, you can go to them and they'll they'll match. Uh so so it pays to it pays to kind of pay attention to you know to stuff like that. And that's really the kind of point I'm making here, is that um you know you you can save money and uh you know sometimes it takes a little bit of work and all you have to do is you know don't be afraid to to speak up and uh you might save some cash along the way.
SPEAKER_03So uh yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_02You know, you don't like spending money on shit like that, but if you could save a few bucks, then fuck, why not?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, that was kind of a long story for basically saying uh go make sure you check for price corrections, price matching, and and speak up. You can always ask for a deal, uh no matter what it is you're buying, especially when it comes to electronics and stuff like that, right? So you you can always almost always get a deal. If you ask for something, hey, you know, is this the cheapest price you can go? You know, you can always bargain with stuff like that, because I think the markup is pretty high.
SPEAKER_03So there's like sales that you don't know about happening behind the scenes. Like when I was a couple jobs ago, I was with a working at Inventa and I was on Best Buy selling Bell cell phones. Yeah, it was just one of those stupid things. But I was talking to the sales guys there, it's like we don't get paid for commission, but they were telling me that um if you just go in there and ask, hey, I'm gonna buy this TV, and you're looking at a specific like a particular brand, like, hey, what what what's the deals going on for it? Or upcoming or that I've missed or something. Like, what can you give me a price winner or something? And sometimes we're cool and we'll go back a sale or two and give you that that price. But they'll tell you that when you buy, if it goes on sale in the next coming weeks, you can't get that price back, but you're still speculated. Regardless, you just ask, yeah, you said it never hurts to ask.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03Or if you buy a product and it's defective, call the product up. I um I've been swearing by these Under Armour face masks. Oh yeah. So they're the best. I think they're the best masks you can buy. They're pretty pricey. They're about 25 bucks each. Oh shit. Yeah. Uh but we're we're masked we're daily, daily we're we're wearing masks daily, obviously. But uh I am now in a situation where I need to wear the mask eight hours a day, ten hours a day to twelve hours a day. So if I'm wearing the mask that much, I come home and consider it I need to wash it or whatever the hell it is. So uh the best way I I've used these masks for a year, so the best way I use these masks or wash them is I put them back in the carrying case that it came up with, I put them in the cargo big pants pocket of my work pants, in the bag, in the pants, and throw them in the washer that way and do it. Because I found when I was hand washing them, all the microfibers and shit would come and get loose. Oh really? So uh so I find these are the best way to do it. And I get about three or four washes out of them, and then they're garbage. Like they they just kind of fall apart sort of thing. So my mom has had the same situation happen to her, but she unannounced to me, phoned Under Armour and bitched them out saying we're paying $50 or $25 a mask, they're falling apart after two rent like two washes. What's going on? The lady's like, we'll send you a bunch of masks. So she actually got four free masks sent for the five.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow, cool.
SPEAKER_03So I I'm actually gonna do the same thing because I have I'm looking at it right now, I have six masks sitting in like brand new and open because I was going so much, like just running through them like monthly, and I'd go pick up two more, whatever it is. So that's two for fifty bucks, and that would last me for at the time it was lasting me for the week or the the month, whatever it was. But they would always have sales and I'd get a ten dollar off coupon. So if you come after this date, you buy anything over you know thirty-five dollars, you get ten dollars off. So I'd buy the mask, so that it was like two for twenty, so two for forty rather than the two for fifty sort of thing. But yeah, I'm definitely gonna call too because I swear by them, I would still recommend them to everyone. Yeah. Uh even though they do, I mean that's what things do, and the masks only last for so long before you have to wash them out or break. And we all have a super super selection of masks now, so let's get them going. But yeah, undersea, even though they fuck it up and frail apart a little bit, you can still they're still my still my favorite mask that I've used so far.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, cool. Um yeah, good to know. Uh back back to my our vacuum that we bought. It's a sharp apex um duo clean vacuum. And um uh I actually I of course I did some research on it as well. So I was online looking at reviews, and you know, that's that's I typically do that. Uh if I'm spending a little bit of money, whether it's electronics or whatever it is, I always go online, check the reviews. Uh I did that. And in this particular case, I also went to Consumer Reports. So yeah, it's it's awesome. They rated all of the vacuums, and of course, they break it into categories. So there was the stick uh cordless, there was the stick with bad uh with the with the cord, like what we got, you know, regular canister vacuums and all that kind of stuff. And uh this particular vacuum, again, I think was in the top three for that category. So uh so that's why I, you know, I I wasn't you know too concerned. I didn't want to spend that much money, but again, it's we want it to last. Um we've like I said, we've we've spent too much money on vacuums over the last you know 13, 14 years or whatever. And uh they yeah, I just again we're not happy with the ones we've bought in the past. So this one hopefully is gonna work out pretty good for us. And so easy to use and reliable, will last us a long time, and that sort of thing. So um again, chop around, do some research, look for the deals, and save some save some money.
SPEAKER_03I'm looking at you at that vacuum you just bought right now. It's a nice looking vacuum.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's the uh ZS 362C. Yeah, if you go to Best Buy, you'll see it on sale now uh for I think 270 bucks, I think. So uh good work. Yeah, for sure. Good purchase.
SPEAKER_03Looks fucking dope. Good work. I don't uh shit. What else is going on? What's going on with hockey? Playoffs start rolling over the place today. Playoffs have started. We talked about Mary and Mu earlier, so what's going on with hockey? Playoffs are up and running.
SPEAKER_02Playoffs are going, and it's fuck it. The season went by real quick. 56 game season, but it still seemed to fly by, and of course, some COVID issues along the way, but but it's great that uh the playoffs are uh playoffs are always fucking f uh fabulous to watch, regardless of who's playing. Oh yeah. Um so playoffs started yesterday. Of course, uh my team, Boston Bruins, uh not of course, but they did play yesterday if game one against Washington, and they fucking shit the bed. Uh they lost, they lost in overtime, but they didn't play very good at all. Like I think, you know, they had a really good opportunity to, you know, the the Washington's uh starting goaltender got knocked out of the game pretty early, and in comes uh 40-year-old um uh Anderson. Uh I think he's played only four games all year. And um they yeah, they they really could have taken advantage of that. Um and they didn't they didn't get many shots, they didn't hit, uh anyways, and they lost the game. They just they just didn't play their game, and I think you know uh Washington tied them up pretty good, and you know, so give them credit. But I think the story of the game, in my opinion at least, was that uh Boston shit the bed and lost the game themselves. So um anyway, game one, that's okay. Uh game one, game two's tomorrow. Uh but but the thing is the thing is now uh three games today. Um so and and two of those games are complete. So out of the three games that have finished so far, all three of them have gone to overtime. So fuck the playoffs are off to a great start here already, and um there's some great matchups, and it's it's just so exciting. It's the greatest time of the year, the greatest game on the planet, and uh I know I always say that uh yes, I'm a hockey fan, so I'm biased, but uh you know, some fuck those other sports. Uh hockey's so much better. So uh oh, I I will say this. I'm not gonna go through a series by series breakdown of who I think is gonna win, but here's my prediction for the Stanley Cup final. It's going to be uh my Boston Bruins, of course. Uh hey, I think they've got a really good shot, uh, despite that first loss. Boston Bruins against the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup final. You heard it here first. And of course, both teams lost their first game.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I muted my mic. Yay! Who's Vegas playing against?
SPEAKER_02I I was I was gonna say, like, holy shit, uh is did my prediction make you speechless, or like like did your fucking jaw drop, or did you fucking fall over and smack your head, or what happened?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. I sneezed twice. I muted my microphone. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I was uh and I wasn't watching uh the camera here, so I didn't see what what was going on. Oh, there you are now. I see ya.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we're back, baby.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Uh Vegas, Vegas is playing uh Minnesota Wild. Uh Minnesota, I think Minnesota won 1-0. I missed that game today. That's this afternoon. Uh, but I I watched the earlier game. Pittsburgh beat the Islanders. No, sorry, Pittsburgh lost. Uh the Islanders beat Pittsburgh in overtime. Uh Minnesota beat uh Vegas in overtime. Nice. And yesterday Washington beat Boston in overtime. So uh the game going on right now is Tampa Bay and Florida fucking and it's 1-1. This game already looks like it's gonna be a fucking cracker because uh there's lots of hits, lots of it's back and back and forth, and it's just good playoff hockey. So uh yeah, it's fun.
SPEAKER_03So a question for you do you like hockey more than you like baseball?
SPEAKER_02Yes, of course.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. But baseball's cool too. You like you won yeah, you won your fantasy leagues, right?
SPEAKER_02I won my fantasy leagues for for hockey, yes.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Uh I'm doing quite well in the fantasy baseball league that I'm in right now. Uh of course, baseball, the season is only about a month and a half in, but I think I started off shitty. I've already climbed to second place. Uh actually after this week I might even be in third uh in first place again after after looking at how the other teams are doing. But uh it's just yeah. Baseball, I think I talked about it last year. Baseball, fantasy baseball is a lot more um it's not more complicated, but you have to stay on top of it uh uh more. You have to watch you have to watch the lineups daily uh and and then adjust your your team accordingly. So so yeah, it's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun, it keeps you engaged. And you learn a lot more about the teams and players um because because of it. So, you know, i if you're a fan, it it's just it's just another it it brings it to another level, I think. So baseball is my number two sport for sure. Out of out of the four professional North American leagues, uh yeah, baseball's number two.
SPEAKER_03So I'm assuming basketball's three and football's four?
SPEAKER_02Yes. And if you want to throw number five in there, soccer, but fuck, who gives a shit about soccer? Fox soccer.
SPEAKER_03Like like the MLS or like the Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or or of course the Premier League over in over in Europe or whatever. Like I just I can't watch it. It's I have no interest in it at all. And you know, I I've tried, I I I will say I I've tried, but there's just yeah, it's just nah. Can't do it. It's fucking boring. 90 minutes of boredom. And diving and fucking acting and poor sportsmanship. Yeah, yeah, it sucks.
SPEAKER_03Have you ever been to a soccer game in the UK?
SPEAKER_02Oh no, I've well no, not in the UK. I've never been to Europe, so Oh shit. You know, it it probably would be um it'd probably be a good experience. But at the same time, I think you know, I have seen a um a White Caps game here in Vancouver. Uh we sat in the South, what is this, the South Ciders or whatever.
SPEAKER_03Yep, that's it.
SPEAKER_02And it was it was you know, it was fun being in that in that atmosphere, but I was half cut too, so that just added to it. And and I don't think I could go to a soccer match and be sober. I I really don't think I could do it. And of course, I don't drink anymore, so I just know that it's uh nothing, yeah. It's just yeah, I wouldn't I don't think I'd have fun. No. So anyway.
SPEAKER_03Me and the old lady got hammered last night. Right on. What were you doing? Um there was just every Saturday, it's just kind of date night, and uh we were starting she hasn't watched a couple Marvel movies, so we went back and watched um Doctor Strange, we watched Black Panther, and we watched Guardians of the Galaxy last night. Oh wow. But we're just I mean, she hasn't seen Doctor Strange, but she's seen Black Panther a couple times. I actually can't quote Black Panther enough, so that's why I wanted to watch it again. Yeah. And of course, we've seen Guardians of the Galaxy 300 times. But because of my like busy work week, I fell asleep like three times watching this. She's like, you were snoring. I'm like, I don't even feel bad. Like who gives a fuck? Uh but we were uh we were drinking uh Parallel 49's uh Cobra Kai, Cobra Cobra something. It's they're eight per they're tall boys and they're eight percent.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. See, though that's the beer that I used to drink, and that's why I just yeah yeah, it's a probably a good thing I don't drink that stuff anymore. Well I don't don't drink period anymore because that's uh I I used to like that high content stuff and it's tasty, very tasty, but it catches up to you in a hurry.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but it was it's the Parallel 49 Cobra Clutch, is what we were consuming last night.
SPEAKER_02What are they what is it? Because that's a new one that I don't or a newer one that I'm not familiar with. Yeah, it's a just a double IPA. A double IPA, okay. Yeah, so that'll be for sure. That'll be a higher alcohol uh content beer for sure. Sounds good.
SPEAKER_03We really like uh we also like Russell Brewing. This is teleps brewing. We like Phillips Brewing. Yeah. They got a bunch of good, tasty little guys, but uh that's enough beer talk until they sponsor us, god damn it. That's that's right.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Come on, you guys, get on board here. We can talk about you all up all episode long for sure. Unfortunately, I unfortunately I can't do any taste tests, but uh hey, we could still push that stuff here. That's no problem. I don't have an issue with it at all.
SPEAKER_03Would you be down for drinking a non-alcoholic beer? Well, of course I'd try one of those, yeah. Well, there we're good. Yeah, we're in. So yeah, they all these places have them. So we're good. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02I'm I'm all over it then because uh I do I do, you know, obviously in the summertime. The winter time, uh a non-alcohol beer just doesn't taste good unless, you know, if I'm out uh when we were able to go out, if I was, you know, if we were out for dinner or something like that, I I would order one. Um definitely I like trying some different ones. Uh and there are some there's more breweries doing this stuff now, which is really kind of cool. So they've they've caught on that there's a a um I was not a need, but there's a you know, there's a market for it for sure. And uh because most of this non-alcohol stuff used to, you know, typically come from Europe, but uh it's nice to see the local uh breweries doing it now too. So as long as it's not that fucking Budweiser prohibition, I'm willing to try anything. Fuck that stuff is fucking garbage. And you go to a place like the Pint or something like that, and they charge you like $6.50 for a fucking non-alcohol beer. Like fuck you guys. Fuck. And then and it's if it was a decent beer, then well, it's still too much money, but at least at least I wouldn't complain so much. But fuck, a shitty beer and a fucking and fucking just a massive price for a non-alcohol beer is fucking stupid. I don't know how they do it. How do they get away with it?
SPEAKER_03I I don't know, but there's a lot of people we were having a beer chat. It was alternative beer talk here on All Many Healer Cloud, so this is what your sponsorship could turn into. But everyone was talking like everyone shit like do you like when you were drinking, did you have Budweiser's? Is that what did you what'd you what was your where'd you go? What was your what was your drink of choice?
SPEAKER_02Um I like the IPAs, and again, you I think I think what's what you were talking about is um you know the the higher contents uh ales and ales and yeah and IPAs. I wasn't typically a lager fan. So tip all IPAs uh in the wintertime, some of the stouts, uh the Russian stouts, the and the chocolate stouts, oh fuck, those were good. But again, some of those were like nine percent. There's some some beers, some ice beers that were like 11% or something like that. Yeah. Oh man, but so tasty. Uh those fix you in the too. So yeah, they would. But that's what I typically typically drank. And uh, you know, you buy the bombers and uh and uh try all the different beers because again, you know, when I was drinking, that's when all of the these these breweries, micro brews and stuff like that popped up. This the craft beer mar you know markets really took off. So I was on board with all that shit. I loved it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's cool to taste. Yeah, definitely. Flights were good when you could go into restaurants and stuff. Yeah. But I bring this up because I had a conversation about Budweiser the other day. Yeah. And I'm like, when I was, you know, a little while ago, that's all I was just butt. Like I would prefer a Bud over like uh you know, like a caribou or a paps or something. So it was just the good, cheap beer. Yeah. But now I've seen you now I pay the extra dollar fifty and get like the six-pack of whatever the Parallel 49s of the world and the Phillips Breweries of the World and the You know the Gravel Island Brewing of the World, like those guys kick ass. Yeah. Uh uh you pay the extra dollar, but it's such a better beer. It is. What have I been doing with my life?
SPEAKER_02You know, like well, it's it's true. They you know, they say like Budweiser and those beers kind of like taste like coarse piss. And they do, like, especially when you have some of this other stuff, you know. It's uh yeah, lots lots of lots of good lots of good beers out there. And again, since you know, I actually I think this week will be six years that I've quit drinking. I think congratulations. I think in the six years that uh so many more beers have probably come along that uh I would probably be enjoying uh very much. But um, yeah, that's that's the stuff. You know, it was it was always good to go to a different pub or uh you know, a brew pub or a restaurant or whatever and just see what's on the menu. And you know, some places just have such a selection and so much to choose from. And there would be always be something your favorites would be there, but there'd be always something different to try, and that was the really fun part about it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. We were at a uh we went to the a Browns patio last night. And uh for as far as social distancing and stuff, they do a really good job because they had a bunch of barriers blocked in between the tables. Yeah. And uh so it was you know, it was pretty safe and whatever. And um I've been vaccinated. Um the girl's getting vaccinated next Sunday, so uh seven days from today. Yeah. So she's getting good to go. Her whole family's been vaccinated, so it's we're getting closer. Yeah, but uh some guy was like uh the late waitress was telling him that the beer's on tap, and then she he goes, she goes, Philip's glitter bomb. He's like, Oh, I'm not drinking that shit. And I'm like, hey dude, get the beer, it's awesome. I'll buy you your first drink, it's that good. He's like, Yeah, okay. And then he went, he actually ordered it, and we're finishing our meal. And I'm like, how was it? He's like, I've ordered six since then. So uh you don't have to buy my first beer. I'm like, I told you. Oh, right on. So yeah, that's cool. It was that's cool. Yeah, it's pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right on. Um yeah, Brown's Brown's is pretty good because there's that one over by us uh right at the Queen Elizabeth Theater there, or at least where we used to live. Uh and that one was always pretty pretty good. We you know, I've been really, you know, even though I've been vaccinated now, and uh I'm still really leery about going to a place like that. Um we have been to a uh a pub down the street from our new place here now called Relish. They've got a cool outdoor patio there. So we were there last weekend, I think.
SPEAKER_03Nice.
SPEAKER_02Um but I'm still pretty skeptical. I'm not skeptical, but I'm you know, I'm still just really careful with that sort of stuff. But but Brown's uh has been pretty good, and you know, my my wife has been over to the Browns, that old Browns, you know, where we used to live, and we were there a couple times during, you know, last summer or fall time, and um yeah, they were always taking pretty good precautions and it seemed like a fairly safe atmosphere. So um yeah, they seem to get it at least. So that's good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's uh yeah, that's all you can really ask for. Yeah. Uh I'm just trying to I'm trying to visually uh figure out where relish is. That's like Nelson, is that on Nelson Street?
SPEAKER_02Yes, it's Nelson it's Nelson and Hornby.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I remember that. That's a that's a cool little spot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, it's it's I think it's been there a while. I think wasn't there a relish down in Gastown as well? I know it's not there anymore. It was down on Abbott Street, I think, down near the lamplighter. I think there was I think it was a relish. But anyways, uh of course that it that I know that's not there anymore, but uh apparently this relish has been at this location for for quite a few years. So it seems like a a hangout. Uh I know we've walked by on Canucks game night, and it seems like some people go there and hang out and watch the game because they've got TVs and stuff all over. Yeah. But it's yeah, it seems like a cool place, though. So um yeah, we'll have to hopefully check that out a little uh, you know, another time once we once it's a little more safe, you know, you could probably just enjoy the experience a lot more. That's all.
SPEAKER_03So I just want to know when we get the call for the second dose.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's uh well have you registered online because because you have to register for your second shot. Yeah, yes, yeah. So that's already been done. Yeah, good. Um I was told 12 weeks, but but that's I don't know how if they're sticking to that or or what. And that was quite a while ago. Yeah. So I don't know what what you know, what you've heard.
SPEAKER_03Um I I haven't heard shit like because we talked about it maybe a week ago or two weeks ago, and that's when I registered online. Yeah, but maybe I'll just give the guys a call. Because they're open 24, well, not 20, they're open like eight to eight every day, yeah, and they'll have a better idea of what's happening. Because I just want my second shot and get it over with.
SPEAKER_02Well, well, they they are saying though that the longer you wait, the better protection you will have. And I think that that's so there's so there's two reasons for that. Number one is for the delay. One, at least initially, the main reason at that time was that they were more concerned with getting everybody their first dose as opposed to letting some people get their second dose, right? So that was yeah, and that's when vaccines were still kind of getting started, and you know, there was not much of a supply. Um, but now they're saying the this the the articles or the stories I've been reading is that uh yes, the longer you wait between doses, the better protected you will be.
SPEAKER_03Sweet.
SPEAKER_02So that's why I think another reason is that they're going for for 12 weeks here. So um the other thing that they're saying too is that and I think there's still some research that needs to be done, but now they're saying is that even if you got one type of vaccine as your first dose, you can mix and match. You can mix and match, yes. Yeah, I think they're still yeah, I think they're still, you know, they're still not sure how effective and uh or anything like that, but that's I think that's what they're saying, especially if you got the AstraZeneca as your first dose. Because I don't I don't I I think number one is supply of the AstraZeneca is is low. And number two is I think BC and some other provinces have discontinued the Astra AstraZeneca vaccine for their for the first dose. Okay. So um so that's why yeah, I think and I had the AstraZeneca as my first yeah, as my first one. So uh chances are I'm probably gonna get something else for the second one. I hope I just hope it's safe and reliable and it's just as effective. So that's the only thing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, again, like that mix and matching thing. So do you know that is so uh if you got the second round of AstraZeneca, is it is there something different in the formula than the first round, or is it just the second shot of the same shit?
SPEAKER_02I think it's the same shit. Yeah. Yeah, it's like a it's just like a booster. It's just uh I think I think it's as far as I know, they give you the same dosage, but it's it acts like a booster, and it'll just kind of get you it'll top you up to that 95% or whatever it is that they um that they say the uh effectiveness is of it. Now the thing is uh with the variants now, are they going to modify any of the vaccines? That's that's the other thing. So Pfizer has said that their vaccine in in the current form is effective against all of the more common variants. So I don't think they're I don't yeah, I don't think there's any changes coming there. But but again, who knows? Um, you know, I think we've still got a long ways to go, you know, to get out of this. Uh we'll see what happens. And even after the getting the second dose, chances are we're gonna need a third booster or something like that. Another a third one somewhere down the road, whether it's fall time, winter time, next spring, whatever, chances are we'll need a third one.
SPEAKER_03Um one thing I find very interesting in the States right now is that uh because um uh a little inside the curtain, we're uh we're gonna have a bunch of new um neat intros and stuff coming up the next show or the two shows coming up because I'm still cutting those up and making them awesome. But my cousin who voiced it lives in LA, and they've been all fully she's been 100% fully vaccinated. Her full family has been vaccinated, even my uncle and her sister, so they're 100% done. And so what they're starting to do in the States now is that you can go to Costco or Trader Joe's or any of these big places maskless.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I read that today too, or yesterday.
SPEAKER_03I don't agree with that just yet because you net you don't know what's happening, and it just doesn't make sense to my head, but I found that very interesting too. Like I would like I'm still even when I'm 100% vaccinated, I'm still wearing a mask for at least another six, eight months. I'm not even gonna question it.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, I find that really strange too, that they're doing that. And even the CDC has said if you're fully vaccinated, you can wear your mask outside, you know, around other you know, you sorry, you can you can go maskless outside, even if you're around other people. And and and then I read the story about Costco and some of the other major stores that are Yeah. Now there's so there's two things. Number one is like you said, this they still don't know for sure, like the vaccine may protect you or it may make you uh less sick if you did happen to get the virus. But number two is even it they st at least from what I know so far, it still does not they are still not sure if it if you are vaccinated, you still might be able to pass it on to somebody else. Even if even though even though you might like you might be a carrier, I guess is what that's what I'm saying. You could still be a carrier, even though you're not sick yourself, even though you've been fully vaccinated, you could still be a carrier and pass it on to somebody else. So so yes, I agree. Uh I agree with you that I think masks should still be mandatory, and even if you're fully vaccinated, you should still be wearing a mask. And so and physical distancing. So that's actually that so that's the first thing. The second thing is how are they going to like what is Costco, what is Trader Joe's and these targets or whatever these places are? How are they going to check that you've been uh fully vaccinated? So is it a piece of paper? Is it a are they starting to roll out uh some sort of digital app that that is like like what is their plan? So that's that's the other thing is like have they got that figured out yet? Do they know how safe is it? How much does it respect your privacy and security? You know, it's something we've touched on all the time here or several times in the past. And um I just don't know that anybody has properly weighed all of the pros and cons of whatever method is you're they're using. So if it's a piece of paper, great, that's easy, as long as it's people don't start forging that shit and whatever. Yeah. But anyway, so I think yeah. There's there's you know, it's there's some positive signs, I think. And you know, the the at least BC's numbers are going down, people are getting the vaccinated their first shot at least. Uh summertime is coming, second shots may be coming in the summer, you know, stuff like that. Um so there's some positive uh I I'm I'm not gonna say there's light at the end of the tunnel because people say that all the time, and I think it's just pre too premature to be saying it like that. Yeah. But at least there's some signs that you know maybe we are kind of taking a turn here, who knows? And uh but we still have to we still have to be careful. They still have to be safe.
SPEAKER_03Like we can't just uh Dr. Box Dr. Bonnie Henry said we can't just flip a switch and get back to normal. Yeah, exactly. It's it's gonna be a slow building process, but when the when the time has come and when everything clicks, we'll be back to regular normal, not the new normal or whatever the hell it's called these days.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah. Uh we gotta wrap it up. We've been talking for an hour, but I want to what a I want a skating update. Have you been skating since the last week?
SPEAKER_02Hey, yes, I have. So the weather's been awesome, uh, for sure. I went out again uh yesterday. I try I try and go every couple days, but I know that there's been uh three or four-day break in there a couple times. Uh, but I'm trying to make it a routine, it always feels good. I enjoy it. Um and uh yeah, I think it's healthy for me. It's doing some good. One thing I wanted to comment on is uh fuck. Every once in a while you run into some fucking asshole on the on the pathway. And it's and it's typically a fucking cyclist. Uh there's there's lots of cyclists, some of them are the hardcore guys with the fucking expensive bikes and the tidy fucking shorts. And uh, but there's just some fucking dipshits out there who are going for a fucking cruise, a Sunday cruise or whatever. Um and and yeah, sure enough, like this happens every half dozen times I'm out there. There's some fucking idiot who's gonna wipe somebody out, wipe, wipe me out. Uh this this this guy was a fucking prick. He um it it was it was right at the you know the the lighthouse right at the point, the small lighthouse there, you make the curve right underneath uh Lionsgate Bridge there. Uh yeah, at the seawall you're talking about. Yeah, on the seawall, yeah. So it's a it's a tight curve, and you know, everybody's supposed to get off their bike and you go to take it slow because you're sharing the pathway there with people walking and jogging and stuff. So, and then and then you make the turn and then the pathway separates again. Well I was I was just I was uh just on as it was separating, I had just started to pick things up again and and uh pick up speed and all of a sudden this fucking like I'm I I didn't know anybody was behind me. I didn't uh you know and typically um typically I pass I I pass 90% of the people who are on bikes. And um you know, because I I I go pretty good. Anyways, I didn't know somebody was behind me. Maybe I was in the center of the pathway, and uh, you know, I don't know, because I again I didn't know somebody was behind me. This fucking asshole pulls up on the on the right side of me and almost and almost like runs into me. And as he's passing me, he's fucking looking back at me, like giving me the fucking stinky eye. Like Jesus. Like, and I fucking look at him and I go, like, fuck like what are you staring at? And then I point to the left because you know, why didn't you pass me on the left hand side? Yeah, and he starts fucking giving me shit like I did something wrong. And it's it's it happens all the time. Like these fucking guys, you know, they're in the wrong and yet they're treating you like shit and like you you did something wrong. And I said, hey, hey, I didn't know you were behind me. Like, so where's your fucking pass on the left and where's your where's your fucking bell or your whatever or some sort of signal that you were there? And I, you know, why don't you use your horn? And oh, I don't have a I don't have a bell. My point exactly, you fucking dink. If you had a fucking bell, you're supposed to have a fucking bell, and when you do have a bell, let people know it's just common sense and some courtesy and shit like that. And he and you know, he's uh I wasn't getting mad, I wasn't getting excited, and I wasn't making it personal, but I said, hey, like look, like I like right now, like right now I'm I'm pissed off. And no, that's awesome. You know, but but I but I was just like I wasn't being the asshole here. And he started like he's a oh you want to go, you want to go? Like all this, like right away, it always turns into something like that, right? Like he's he he becomes the tough guy, but then he starts saying, calling me the tough guy, you know, like what? I just I just asked, like, you know, why didn't you pass on the left hand side? Why didn't you give me some sort of warning that you were there? And I would have given you plenty of room and you could have passed on the left like you're supposed to do. But he thinks he thinks I'm the one being a tough guy and trying to start a fight. And I'm I'm just fucking minding my own fucking business. And anyways, you know, I did, you know, before I passed him, like I did pass him previously, he was drinking a fucking beer and I saw him dumping it in the fucking and that's you know what, that's fine. I I don't have any problem with that. But you know, number one, he was he was fucking he was drinking. Number two is he didn't have a bell. Number three, he didn't say anything to me at all or give me some sort of other warning that he was there. He had fucking earbuds in, number, number, whatever number we're on now. We talked about fucking earbuds, cyclists, and other people, you know, wearing earbuds, and they don't have any fucking clue what's going on around them. And um, anyways, anyways, this guy's a fucking dick. And uh he ended up going to Third Beach and probably passing out and maybe the fucking seagulls picked him up and carried him away or something like that. I don't fucking know. You know, but it's but it's fucking assholes like that that just you know I'm just going out there trying to get some exercise, enjoy the fucking weather and the scenery, and you know, mind my what you know, just I respect other people out there, and uh if I'm coming up behind somebody, I'll let them know that I'm coming. And um and I'll do the same for anybody who wants to pass me. But uh, you know, you get these fucking arrogant dicks sometimes who just I don't know, I don't know what it is. Again, it's some other people with fucking screws loose. That's fuck. I don't know. That's it. Yeah, so anyway, so that was my uh fun time, and uh otherwise it's it's good to be out there. Yeah, I just uh good to be back. Good to get some exercise. Hey, I know you want to go. Uh couple things real quick. Rock hall of Rock Hall of Fame. We have to talk some music real quick. Of course, I'm all in. Yeah, they announced the uh inductees for uh for this year. And um, you know, where's uh where's that list? I had it up here too. Uh okay, now where did it go? Of course it disappeared on me. Here we go. I got it right here. So Tina Turner, Carol King, the Gogo's, Jay-Z, Food Fighters, and Todd Rundgren uh got inducted in the performer character category. So um I it's like fuck. Uh you know, it's a fucking joke. It's a fucking joke. The rock hall is a fucking joke.
SPEAKER_03So I mean, I'm not questioning the fact that these guys are have cultural influences and that they're important bands and they're impactful and influential, but bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and Motorhead, and even Guns N' Roses, and all these guys who you talk to any of these punk bands or any band today who you influence by Priest, Motorhead, Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, you know, all these guys come up first. So how do they I think they're tough uh this is a bigger conversation than we have to have right now, but I I think that they are looking at the induction. I like I have no problem with those guys being inducted, but where's the maidens of the world? Where's the I mean Sabbath are in, which is awesome. Oh finally, it took them forever, but yeah, they're finally in so they got inducted in 2006, I know Metallica got inducted in 2009. Um what who will like are KISS in there yet? Uh KISS are in there, Deep Purple are in there.
SPEAKER_02Deep Purple finally, they were one of the late ones to get in as well, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So but yeah. But who knows? Like, what are like uh the Grammys, so they're comparing a lot of the shit to the Grammys. And um the I know you don't like the weekend, and I've made you listen to the weekend, but there's uh there was a big controversy popping up around him. Because he had the best-selling album for eight weeks or nine weeks, and it was the most streamed album of his career in all times, and he didn't even get an indict, he didn't even get a nomination to be for on a Grammy, so he was pissed off, and they're looking in on how to re-evaluate who gets inducted and and what happens. So I think they were talking about how the same thing for the works for the Rock and Hall Hall of Fall for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yeah, but I'm with you, it's bullshit. Where are these guys and what's going on, and how are these guys getting like are the Ramones in even?
SPEAKER_02Um shit. Yes, the Ramones are in.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Finally, because they it took them a while too, right? Here's the thing. Like, okay, so people, number one, people say, well, what is uh I'll use Jay-Z as an example. You know, Jay-Z isn't rock and roll. Uh it's the Rock Hall of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And that's how it started out. Now, I I get uh you I think you said it best, you know, there's some cultural influences there and stuff like that. And that's and that's why they have the you know, these other uh genres of music, I guess, are are uh you know being inducted into the Hall of Fame. So you know, I know people don't agree with that necessarily because it's not rock and roll, but anyways, that I can kind of that I can accept. So to me, it's to me it's not it's not uh what style of music some of these artists are playing. To me, it's just like okay, okay, I I'm gonna I'm gonna pick on the Foo Fighters just because it's so easy to fucking pick on the Foo Fighters. And because well, so there's a perfect example. They've only been around for 25 years. This is the first time they're on the ballot. Um and uh that's that's that's the criteria is that the you know the the artist or the band needs to be around for at least 25 years. Yep. Um so so like so Foo Fighters get in on first ballot, like how like like okay, why? That's that's my question. Why? Why and how? Like, how is that possible? Uh in front of all of these other classic artists. Why what is so why why is uh Foo Fighters in and not Iron Maiden? Like Iron Ma Iron Maiden came out, their first album came out uh what 25 25 years. No, that long? No. Oh fuck. 30 years either no 50. Their first album came out 15 years, I think, prior to uh the first Foo Fighters album. Like 15 years, and and Iron Maiden is still waiting. Iron Maiden is a much bigger band than Foo Fighters. Um, I'm sorry, I know everybody loves Dave Grohl, but uh a popular guy, sure they sell out shows, the albums have done well, uh whatever, but come on.
SPEAKER_03Uh so the first Iron Maiden album came out April 14th, 1980.
SPEAKER_021980, yeah. Yep. And Foo Fighters came out in uh, well, their first album, which is was just Dave Grohl. No, it came out in 1995. 95. I think 95, yes. So um I I mean it's uh I mean that's a that's a perfect example. Uh and it's and it's only one example, but like I like that's the uh that's why I just don't I don't understand it. Um I don't and that's why it's to me it's a farce. Like I don't know how anybody can take it seriously. Like, why would anybody care about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at this point? Um like I don't know who the people are who vote. Uh like I know that there is a fan voting. I don't think fan voting uh automatically gets you in. Like if you are the top, if you get the top votes, does that mean that you are automatically in? I don't think so. But I don't think so either. Because it's a fairly new process, I think, with with the fan voting. But uh and anyways, it's just uh it's we you know this conversation happens every single year, too, because uh you know they only let so many people in per year, and there's always new artists that are eligible. Um but like come on. Nothing against the go-go's, but like come on. Really?
SPEAKER_03Come on, really come on. Yeah, I agree. I I agree with you. That the few first Foo Fighters album, by the way, came out uh July the 4th, 1995. Yeah. So yeah, you're right. So the main first main album came out 15 years before that. So exactly.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so just just uh I don't think this list is uh complete by any means, but here are some bands that are not in the Rock Hall of Fame. Uh Bad uh Bad Company and Free, two different bands. But with both with Paul Rogers. They aren't in. Blue Oyster Cult. Blue Oyster Cult's first album came out in 1973? Something like that. And Blue Oyster Cult is still not in the Rock Hall. Boston. I mean, Boston only had really what three. They didn't have a lot of albums, but that first album is considered a classic. That came out in 1977, something like that. I don't know. Boston, let's see, Back Maturner Overdrive. The guess who? Canadian bands. Oh, yeah. They're not in The Rock Hall. Emerson, Lincoln, Palmer, Foreigner. Foreigner's a massive band. Back in their day, they were a massive band, and they're not in. Jethro Tull. Joe Cocker's not in the rock hall. Judas Priest, of course. We mentioned them already. That's to me, being a metal fan, of course, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Scorpions are not in the rock hall. Soundgarden is not in the rock hall. Soundgarden's first album came out in what eighty seven? I don't know. Sometime in the I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Yep, no.
SPEAKER_02Sticks. Sticks is well, maybe people may not like Sticks or think that they're a big band, but I think that they've certainly been around a long time. Their first album came out in 72, 73, or something.
SPEAKER_03So I mean if the go-go's can get in, sticks can get in. Fuck, yes.
SPEAKER_02Exactly, exactly. So Yep. Anyways, it's something that frustrates me at this time of year, every year. And uh because again we have the same fucking conversation, but um I I just you know it's gonna take a long time for them to make up for their uh incompetence, I guess, if you want to put it that way. So yeah. It sucks.
SPEAKER_03And hopefully they figure out what's uh what's happening. Like it's just uh you know, hopefully they streamline the process because the people who should be in aren't in. And uh again, nothing against these guys who got inducted this year, but the Foo Fighters on their first try? I mean, I like the Foos, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather see the priests and the maidens of the world get in before Dave and Dave in for Nirvana, all for that. Grunge music, arguably the biggest grunge band in the world, Nirvana in. I have no problem with that. But Foo Fighters afterwards, yeah. Still your role, rock and roll of fun.
SPEAKER_02Let's I mean, I mean, how many bands today could say, oh fuck yeah, Foo Fighters, they're our number one fucking influence. Like, fuck, it was such a great band. If it wasn't for the Foo Fighters, we wouldn't be around. Or uh if it wasn't for Judas Priest, uh we wouldn't be around. Like, like Judas Priest, like the fucking metal, and of course, Iron Maiden is probably the biggest Judas Priest came out before kind of the new wave of British heavy metal, the that kind of uh that period, I guess, which was the late 70s, early eighties. That's the kind of the new age of British heavy metal, and Iron Maiden is the biggest band to come out of that time period. And they're not in the rock hall, like like fuck. There's something wrong here. Something's wrong. Something's wrong. Seriously.
SPEAKER_03We'll send uh email to the who gives a fuck at department at the rock and rollhall of fame.com and see if we get back to that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, let's uh let's get those fuckers on the air here with us and provide uh us and our listeners with a with an explanation because uh I think everybody deserves uh some sort of uh comment on what the fuck is going on over there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It's true. That's a true story.
SPEAKER_02Anyways, that's another rant for me today. Um I'm on a roll, I know. Is it three? Is it three? Cyclists, the rock hall, what else did I bitch about? I can't remember.
SPEAKER_03Uh vacuums, not really, but if the vacuums had a positive message, yes. Always check your prices and hopefully get another uh hopefully get a deal. That's right. Save some money.
