Who the fuck knows what's going on? But it's January 17th. It's 2021. And I'm, of course, joined by Steven. Hello, Steven.
SPEAKER_01Hi, Adam. Yeah, we're gonna shoot the shit today again. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02We haven't talked much, so people like us shooting this quote unquote shit.
SPEAKER_01Well, I've I've had uh we we have gotten some feedback, I guess. So yeah, you you you in particular kind of let me know what other people are saying. And I haven't got a lot of feedback, but there's one uh there's this one buddy who has listened to us quite faithfully by the sounds of it, so that's really nice to hear. Um yeah, so so thanks a lot, uh Mark and Rox. Um hope you guys are doing well. And uh, you know, you know, he's he's got some opinions and stuff like that, and he's mentioned a couple things. And you know, uh like as far as our our news stuff goes, you know, like is it is it some of the stuff we talk about, is it really relevant? And and you know, maybe that's true, maybe it's not, but we kind of hope to bring our own perspective on things and our own opinions and talk about our own stories and built around certain events that are happening around the world here. So uh so there's that. But but they do definitely enjoy our our our ranting and swearing and bullshit and copying. It's relevant to me, Mark.
SPEAKER_02You fuck. Um I didn't mean that, I'm sorry. Uh shit. I know you didn't. Um okay, so it's um But anyway, yeah. Well, I mean, I guess uh every episode I always end the uh our podcast with uh Donald Trump is an incompetent racist. And we only have four more sleeps until Donald Trump is fucking out of the uh presidential uh bullshit that he's done. And since we've once we've talked, he um he caused some shit over in the America. Yeah, fuck. And I just I still don't know how the guy is not arrested for uh the stuff that he's done.
SPEAKER_01Uh I I don't either. And um and again, and again, I think everybody knows the story, so you know this is this is history, and I guess we don't wanna we don't want to you know repeat shit, but you know, at the but at the same time, and other people are wondering the same thing too, you know, like you're right. Why how is how does he still have a job? How is he still the most powerful person in America? Um and the same goes for the s the people who support him. You know, you have the Republicans who are in office still and they're supporting him, and they're they're basically talking about garbage and they're spreading lies and and fake news as well, and you know, they're just just totally delirious. They just haven't got a fucking clue as to what's going on. They, you know, some people, five people got killed, a lot more could have gotten killed, including the vice president and some other people who who uh some of the other politicians uh in who are in the Capitol building at the time. And you know, just some of these people are just still, they just don't get it. And i you know what, I mean, it's gonna be kind of a shitty week because, you know, even today and leading up to the 20th, when Biden is sworn in, you know, there has been talk about um protests continuing across Capitol buildings in America, and even today there were uh protesters with uh with firearms who are who are protesting and they they still don't get it either. So like I I just it just you know I shake my head. I continue to shake my head, and even though Trump is gonna be gone in four days, the bullshit's gonna continue. That's the problem. And he's probably he he probably loves it. He he he he just loves it because uh he has set all this up and he's gonna go fucking away laughing. How how is he not going to eventually land in jail? I I he he he's I don't know how he does it. So far he's avoided it. Will he continue to do so after he's no longer in office? I don't know. It's I just it just amazes me the system in America. I sure hope we don't have the system here in Canada because I think if w some of the politicians do pull off some of the shit, I hope we can easily get rid of them because this is just fucking garbage.
SPEAKER_02I the worst part about it is people thought they were gonna storm the Capitol, kill or take hostage members of Congress, force them to name Trump the winner of the election, and place him in power for for the n for like another four years or whatever it was, and then fly home and go to work.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02How is that even possible? I just the whole thing is just it's just I'm just like, what the shit? And you know Thursdays, there's some shit gonna happen on Thursday. It's not gonna go peacefully. Like something bad's gonna happen on Thursday. It's it's yeah, it has the linings for perfect the perfect storm. It's I don't know. And I mean, I'll be working on the road, so I'll just be getting the news updates, but I'm sure there'll be live feeds from wherever the whatever newscast is happening down there.
SPEAKER_01But for sure. Hopefully everybody's safe. I don't know, people they're telling people just to stay home and uh and avoid all the bullshit as much as you can because yes, it sounds like even the FBI is predicting some bullshit's gonna be going down, so uh, and it could get quite scary and quite violent, and uh yeah, nobody nobody needs that. Nobody wants that. Um I I yeah, I don't know. I mean they've arrested a whole bunch of people from uh you know from the uh from whatever happened there on January 6th and stuff. And that's the thing, there's fire, there's law enforcement who have been arrested. There are um, you know, people are wondering, you know, whether or not even some of the uh representatives, the guy the politicians were somehow involved by leaking news or leaking leaking stuff to these to these protesters who were trying to take over the Capitol building. Like uh that's just I don't know. Anyways, they all need to be fucking thrown in jail. Yep, exactly.
SPEAKER_02Uh so that's it's gonna be a crazy couple days coming up. And like you said, I'm glad that it's just not happening in Canada. Or is it? We don't know.
SPEAKER_01Uh well well, it's it's not as bad, but again, we can't we can't make fun of America and uh you know turn the turn a blind eye here in Canada because shit's going shit's happening here too. There are uh there are racists here in Canada, of course, and uh there are these right wing um white supremacists who are in Canada and they are prepared to have you know cause problems whenever possible too. So uh they're out there, and um we need to make sure that uh they don't do some of that shit up here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, totally. It's uh it's a crazy world. We're living in a crazy time right now. So um and it's magically not gonna go away. Like when Biden becomes you know, he has to repair a bunch of stuff. Mark Hamill is pretty active on the mighty Twitter machine. Yeah. And he hates Donald Trump just like we do. Uh, but he's posted some sweet memes, and uh uh I can't find it right now because my internet's kind of acting up. Oh, here we go. Okay. I if I spelt Mark right, that would help. Uh but there's a he's he's posting a bunch of great things like uh great memes, great yeah. So check out Mark Hamill's Twitter. Like it's he's uh he's pretty active on on what's happening in the America over there. But uh for sure.
SPEAKER_01The other the other person who who I follow and get a lot of good stuff from, and most pe a lot of other people do because he has over a million followers, uh, but Rex Chapman. Yes. Uh he he's uh he he's great. He's he's uh he's a former uh NBA basketball player, if you don't know who he is. Um I don't know where he gets some of his stuff from because uh you know he's got a lot of great sources. Like I said, he knows a lot of people by the sounds of it. So um, you know, but he's posting a lot of good memes, like a lot of good funny stuff, a lot of good feel-good stuff, which is really cool. But he's you know, he gets a lot of this uh other news and some of the events and stuff like that. And you know, even some of the videos from from last Wednesday or whatever, January 6th, uh, you know, you know, he's got a lot of stuff that went down that day. And uh he's very involved. SPEAKER_02I am I'm pretty much done. So I have installed everything we've talked about. Cool. Uh I've got LibreOffice going. I don't know if you can see it, but I have the Steam wallpaper engine running.
SPEAKER_01I see that.
SPEAKER_02Uh so I have the Matrix um code just running in the in the background.
SPEAKER_01That's amazing. Looks good. It's pretty good. Yeah, you got a s you got a sweet setup there.
SPEAKER_02But what you can do is uh you have different the the steam wallpaper engine's fucking great. They have so many different things, and they have stuff that syncs to your audio. Uh so like I have an audio steam or audio thing, so it's all like these old school graphs and like old school dials moving back and forth. Yeah, I'm listening to tunes, because I listen to most of my music through my computer. Yeah. And then whenever I'm on the road, obviously it's in the car. But for the most part, this is my music listening station. So yeah, it actually works out pretty good. So without doing anything, it's on Matrix. Or um, have you ever seen that Gandalf meme?
SPEAKER_01No, I haven't.
SPEAKER_02So it's the um what it is, is um someone took Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings series, and they um they made him they put some awesome music behind it, and they just made him nod his head. So that's the It's fucking hilarious. So if you if you look up Gandalf meme on like YouTube, there's like so what it is, it's just Gandalf nodding his head to the saxophone music, and it's just on a loop, and it just goes. And so someone made this a wallpaper. So I left this running for, I don't know, a good hour or something like that. We're gonna leave it running in the background because it's funny. But um, before I when we used to work at Seafox, I would leave this running on all the computers, and we'd go for meetings, and Scott and I would take off whatever it is, and we put this on the screen, I'd leave, and I'd lock my computer, so it would just be this with Gandalf's head moving up and down. But it was the YouTube video, it wasn't as cool as those wallpaper engines, so yeah, okay, that's good.

SPEAKER_02Uh what's been going on with you? What's been going on with you this week? I know hockey started up, so uh what's your um so I read somewhere that there's some there's like 161 games or something like that played in five weeks or five months or something like that. It's a hockey game every day for five months. Is that that's that sound right?
SPEAKER_01Something like that, yeah, yeah. So um that's a shitload of hockey. Hockey, um 116 days of uh consecutive days of of hockey here. So uh yeah, so buckle up, it's gonna be fun. Uh of course the season started last Wednesday. Um been a few good hockey games already. A lot of a lot of the players are are are kind of in in uh like in good, you know, what am I trying to say here? Like they're in they're in season mode already. Like typically, typically it takes uh well a few games to get going and you know for lines to gel and and that sort of thing. But even though there's a really short training camp, no exhibition games, yeah, some of the players are just fucking flying out there. And you know, there's there's some European players who were playing overseas before you know before this NHL season started, so they got a bit of a head start. Some of the Russians, of course, in the KHL. Um, but yeah, it's it's been some pretty good hockey so far, and some of the games are a little high scoring, and uh there's there's nothing wrong with that. So team defense hasn't been a kind of a a big uh good thing here so far, but still it's been been some decent games, and uh I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. So uh I'm not making any predictions this year. You know, again, it's kind of a fucked up year with the you know, with the realignments. We've got the North Division, which is all seven Canada teams. Yeah, it's really uh that's gonna be that's gonna be cool though, just because seven teams playing each other up to ten times a season. Um there's gonna be some good rivalries, rivalries created there, so that's it's gonna be fun. Uh of course I'm a Bruins fan. I'm not gonna say the Bruins are gonna win the Stanley Cup this year. Obviously, I hope I hope they do, but you know what? I I am concerned about them this year. This is the first year in a while that I've been quite concerned. You know, they've lost some players, they're getting older.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I just uh they've had a tough time scoring, at least their secondary scoring has been kind of shaky the last uh couple of years, and I don't think they've addressed that. So uh it's still gonna it's gonna continue to be an issue. Um yeah, I I'm I'm really worried. So we'll have to see how the season goes. Of course, anything can happen. Oh, the other thing is they're probably in the tough with the realignment, they're probably in the toughest division uh in the game right now. So they're gonna be playing against some really good hockey teams, and it's gonna be tough. So we'll see how it goes.
SPEAKER_02They've played maybe three games by now.
SPEAKER_01Boston has played only two.
SPEAKER_02Have they won both, or did they lose both?
SPEAKER_01They both went to overtime. Their record is is one and one. So they won the first, won the first game in shootouts, lost the second game in overtime. Uh against New Jersey, though. Like New Jersey's not a very good club, and new New Jersey's not going to make the playoffs this year. They got some good young talent, but yeah, they they struggled. That first game wasn't too bad, actually. Uh, they started off well. The second game they played yesterday, yesterday morning, uh they sucked. Yeah, they it just wasn't a very good game. Again, it's again it's scoring. Like they they only scored one or got one goal yesterday. Actually, all of their goals so far in two games have been on special teams. So I think a couple power play goals. Uh yesterday's one lone goal was shorthanded. Uh so like I said earlier, they're you know, it's gonna be you know, scoring's gonna be an issue for them. Uh again, they've got some young guys they've brought in, and hopefully they can you know fit in well early on. But yeah, it's tough division. It's gonna be a tough season.
SPEAKER_02I know the oh, I'm a Kinox fan because it's the only talking team I kind of have to give a shit about. And that's how they that's very loosely. They won the first game and got their asses kicked the second game in McConnell McMega. Uh Connor McDavid. McDavid, that's it. Uh that's what I totally said, McDavid. Um, yeah, he got the hat trick, which he lit them up. Like, that's awesome. I get all the highlights to my phone for the Canucks app, whatever it was. Yeah. And they're like, oh, fuck some of the c and they have the greatest Twitter wivery going on too. Like then Oh, it's so funny. But um So they're one on one, too. I don't know if they're playing tonight. I don't really actually give a fuck, as you can tell, but I think it's I think it's I think it's cool. I think it's it's good to have it on. It gives shit people do when you go to the bar or do whatever the hell you're doing or TV or to store the game on. I mean you can't just watch dancing Gandalf all day.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's well it sounds like you can, but most of us, most of us can't.

SPEAKER_02Oh, that's awesome. They restored it awesome. The sound is awesome, and this past Friday we have started the Hobbits now. So now we're with the Hobbit. So we just finished the part one of the Hobbit. It was three parts. So hopefully on Friday will be part two, and the following Friday will be part three. You uh watch anything this week?
SPEAKER_01Uh we we uh no, we're not. No, I think we've gotten caught up on on our Law and Order. We we kind of, I told you, I don't know why we're watching that show still. It's uh in the 22nd season. We we started got started on the original Law and Order series. Uh now it's Law and Order uh uh special victims units. Uh I don't know why we're still watching it because it's the same old fucking bullshit. Um Ice T's got some good lines every once in a while, and they and they pay attention, they pay attention to current events and stuff like that. So you can you can tell that some of the stories are about shit that's happened here in the real world.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_01But uh yeah, so we're all caught up in that because we stopped watching a couple years. Uh we were a couple seasons behind, but now we're fully caught up. Uh one sea one one show I've started watching is uh called The Stand. Uh now I brought up The Stand in my pandemic talk there last last summer or whatever, because there was a 1994 mini-series called The Stand. It's uh it's about it's it's written after Stephen King's book. Um and it's about you know the pandemic and some of the you know it's just yeah, it's kind of a horror series, I guess. Uh that one was four parts. Anyways, there's they've they've redone it here. I'm not sure who was involved in this in this new one, but um, I think there's gonna be nine episodes, five of them have been released so far. So I'm watching that. Um it's I mean it's not bad. The thing is there's some really big actors in it. You know, so there's some really big talent. Um so that's kind of what drew me to it again. And um yeah, again, it's I don't know. It's it's something. It's uh it's something to watch. It's something to watch. I even though we've got other tons of other shit to that we want to get through, and we just never seem to get to it. But anyways, uh it kind of fits the times and it's yeah, it's the it's the new thing that I've been you know paying attention here you know in the last couple weeks.
SPEAKER_02I haven't watched really anything. I mean I watched uh Cobra Kai. Uh have you seen Cobra Kai? Were you a fan of the old school karate kids?
SPEAKER_01Um obviously I saw the early movies and stuff like that from from way back Ralph uh what's his name, Ralph Machio? Machimacchio or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He's uh still in it as uh Daniel Sun. Uh Daniel LaRusso, as the kids call him, in Karate Kid.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Uh, but I think that's one of the greatest series that's come out in a long time. Because I'm a big fan of those movies, and they just play I mean, it's more of teen focused on this, but uh it you know it follows the rivery, there's some cool twists and turns, and uh so season season three just ended with a pretty cool uh ending, and I'm just gonna I'm looking forward to seeing what happens on season four.

SPEAKER_01I knew it was on, I'd seen it uh because it's on Netflix, I think, right? Yep. Um so I s I saw it, but yeah, I I knew didn't really know too much about it, and I haven't we haven't started watching that at all. So yeah, maybe.

SPEAKER_02Um the cool thing about this was uh when it launched for seasons one and two, it launched as the the the marquee show for YouTube Red when that uh when you YouTube Red had their pay service, whatever it was. So YouTube had uh you know when they created their own original content and that was one of their uh one of their marquee shows. But I think YouTube Red has now fallen to its uh death because there's so many streaming services out there, who the hell knows what's going on. Uh but um yeah, I mean you just can't compete with Netflix and Crave I think is doing a pretty good job. Uh HBO and HBO Max with all those new shows and shit they got coming out. Uh it was just uh not leaked, but announced that Kong versus Godzilla comes out on March 26th.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02On on which platform or where HBO Max, whatever it's called.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So who knows what that's gonna be like, but uh, I mean, it it's not gonna be bad. Uh I took a moment and watched Wonder Woman. Don't do it. It's a waste of your time, so don't watch that one. There it is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I heard it's pretty pretty bad. We we were talking about watching it right after it came out there on Christmas Day, and we just never got to it. And yeah, I think everybody I've talked to now has like that. You're the third or fourth person now, anyways, who has said it's it's shit. So um I mean, maybe we'll get to it someday just for yes to waste some time or something like that. But yeah, it's like that's the thing is that they're you know. Especially with what's going on. You know, they're trying to build some of these movies up to be something so great and you know, releasing to theaters even though nobody's probably going to theaters. And yeah. Like it's just like I know it's tough for them, but but yeah, it's just I don't know. And when it turns out that these movies fucking suck, like what a waste of time. Like money. Fuck. And money. Yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_02Like you go see a movie, like you and a bud, or you and a girl, or whatever you're doing, it's 40 bucks to get in. Then you're buying food, which is 20 bucks, so you're 80 bucks to do all your shit plus parking and whatever the hell else. So you're $100 to go see a shit movie. And I like shit movies, and this is not very good. I watch a lot of shit, and uh, you know, uh, and I looked for the you know, try to find the you know, the silver lining in it, but like you don't even see Wonder Woman. She's like in the whole movie dressed up as Wonder Woman for maybe like five minutes. Really? I'm like, what the fuck is this? And they bring back Chris Pine and like how the hell is he back through man? Oh man, that was just garbage.
SPEAKER_01Just dog shit. Yeah. Well, that that's why that's why it's yeah, it's hard to justify you know, paying so much money. And you know, it's hard to justify going to theaters, pandemic or not. And hey, I'm happy watching at movies at home. And if it happens to be for free, then that's the way it is. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, free or Netflix or Crave or whatever's uh subscription service you're streaming on, or if you happen to see it online one day and it magically appears on your TV screen. Who knows how knows how that works? But you know, whatever works, works.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well net Netflix has said that uh like I mean Disney made their big announcement there and stuff like that about all the shit they're doing, but Disney are but Netflix also said that they've got some really they've got a shitload of content that they're releasing this year. And uh and a lot of it is is not your you know, movies with unknown uh talent in it. Like a lot of them are like Netflix is is is a big deal. Yeah, they've stepped up their name. They yeah, they really have. I mean, I you know, we've all seen it coming and they've released some pretty good movies already in the past, but it sounds like this is a pretty big year for them. And um good on them because you know people are going to be tuning in from home. That's what people are doing now, and nobody wants to go to a theater anymore.
SPEAKER_02So it's crazy time. It's great. Was that a cat? Is that a cat? That's your kid cat?

SPEAKER_01It's almost supper time. It's almost supper time. They oh they're on the clock, man. Like they fucking know what time it is every single day. Like we feed them, we feed them raw food. So um, so we don't we don't have a dish of uh of dry kibble lying around uh all day long for them to nibble on. And uh so they get hungry and they know what time it is and they know it's almost supper time. Oh that was the that was the magic word, and uh I don't think they are paying attention yet. No, but anyways, they know and this one's been hassling me for 20 minutes already, so is it uh is it a 4 p.m. suppertime for the Kit Kats? It it is typically four o'clock, but again, it depends on how much it depends on what we're doing, and it depends on depends on how much they're bugging us, so and how much noise they're making. Right now it's not too bad, but I'm sure we'll be able to get by here.

SPEAKER_02Uh so um you have you're more familiar with this than I am, but you we're both on WhatsApp, but WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, and Facebook is the devil, and there's a bunch of weird controversy coming up with that, which you'll get into in a sec. But you convinced so you're actually the only person I talked to on Signal. Uh, but what's been funny is since the story has popped up, I always get the notification saying so-and-so is on signal, so-and-so is on signal. And there was a story that I read a little while ago that their stock went up like a fuck ton. But then they had an out an outage yesterday or two days ago that fucked everything all up, and people were so pissed off. But they're back and they said they're back and they're good to go. So um, you want to fill us in? What's going on with Signal and what's happening?
SPEAKER_01Well, well, see the first thing about Signal to clear a couple things up is I mean, they're they're not that they don't have stock. They uh uh uh they're a nonprofit company. Um, you know, so they don't advertise, they don't get um you know, they don't they don't charge, you know, it's a free service or and stuff like that, right? So um so so signal is again they're a small company. I don't know how many employees they have, but they're not very big. And you know, so they are relying, they rely on donations uh totally. Um that's how that's how they are able to continue uh their business and building upon this great app that they've got going here. So um, so that's the first thing I would suggest is for you to number one sign up to Signal, install it on your phone. Uh they also have a desktop app, which is great, um, and then make a donation to them so that they can stay in business. So um but but they are probably the best uh end-to-end encrypted messenger um app or platform out there right now. Um they're they're they're they don't invade your privacy, they don't monitor what you're doing or who you're talking to or anything like that. It's totally encrypted by default. Um the only thing they collect is your phone number at this point, but they don't collect your contacts or anything like that. And I know that's a that's an issue for somebody, but if that's the only thing that's that they do compared to the other apps which totally invade your privacy, then I don't know what people are complaining about. Yeah, and and the thing is they are they are working on a fix for that anyways, which will hopefully be implemented at some point some point soon. So they aren't they aren't even going to have your phone number. They won't even know your phone number, and uh they won't even know yeah. So basically, basically there's no tracking, uh and obviously everything's encrypted, so nobody can read your messages or anything like that. So say signal is the way to go. And you know, again, so WhatsApp does is in end-to-end uh WhatsApp is does use end-to-end encryption, but again, it's owned by Facebook, so there's all the metadata that's being collected and passed along. And you know, Facebook has been collecting information about WhatsApp users forever, but they've made some changes uh recently to their terms of service, uh you know, which will in which basically will invade that even further. And um you know, a lot of people are pissed off about that, I think. Finally, finally, people are beginning to realize that it's not such a good thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And um you know, I think WhatsApp even went so far as if you don't accept these new terms, uh, we will cut off your service uh to WhatsApp uh February something. Now they've since backtracked on that, and I won't get into you know, we you you can find that uh information out yourself. I think they've now delayed it for three months or something like that. But anyways, because of because of that, people have been flocking to other other platforms like Telegram and Signal. Both of those had huge spikes in uh in installs over the past week or past couple weeks, ever since WhatsApp made this uh made this announcement. So part of the pro yeah, part of that is because Signal is so small, I don't think they could handle such such massive growth, such demand. So so yeah, they had uh an interruption in their service uh on Friday. They said it lasted like 24 hours or something like that, and and maybe I don't know. I experienced a problem for most of Friday during the day. Things were back running again, I think uh late afternoon Friday or something like that. So so there was some interruption, and again, that probably pissed some people off too. But come on, you have to realize what's going on here. Is you know, again, it's you know, people this is a this is something free, number one. Yeah, and number two is it's not invading your privacy. So like give these people a chance, and if you think it's a problem, fucking donate some money. I donated, you know, I've been using I've been using Signal for three or four years at least. Like I like because I was a WhatsApp user. Um I can I got some people using WhatsApp because nobody I knew at that time was using WhatsApp and because privacy was important to me, at least and end-to-end encryption was important to me. Yeah. But then obviously I figured, hey, you know, I've had enough of Facebook. I was thinking about dumping Facebook forever um until I finally did back in 2018. Uh, but I dumped I dumped WhatsApp long before that in favor of signal. And again, I didn't know anybody using Signal at the time. Yeah, but I hey you gotta start somewhere. And you know, I still don't know a lot of people using Signal, but I've you know I think the most important people that I communicate with now, I've converted them to Signal, yeah, family, close friends. Uh, just this past week, my wife was still on using WhatsApp to talk to a couple other people. Just this past week I got her to convert those two. Uh so now she's not even on WhatsApp as well. So she's completely eliminated that or dumped that. Unfortunately, she's still on Facebook, and I can't do much about that. But anyways, I'm not on Facebook, that's all that matters. Um Facebook is a fucking Facebook is terrible. I uh and I know again it's free, it's an easy way to for people to communicate and share pictures and memes and dumb stories, but Facebook is a cesspool.
SPEAKER_02And it's getting worse too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's and it and it's it controls people's lives and it collects so much information about people. You people are the product. Um and uh you need to understand that or realize that. So, anyways, that's that's kind of the the signal thing here uh this week. And um yeah, I'm glad you and I talk back and forth. But again, it's it's one at a time, right? It's one at a time.
SPEAKER_02So and I've been trying to get everyone to do it. Can you do a group chat on Signal?
SPEAKER_01Yes, you can.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, see, and that's what I'm trying to get my Canada post um, I mean Canadian delivery company to um I I have group chat to convert to Signal, and I've got two of them on there, but we don't talk to it because everyone we're all at the group chat is WhatsApp because I think that's one of the main reasons why people still use it is because of a group chat.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, oh for sure. No, signal uh signal has group chat as well, group video chats even. So um there's there's no there's no reason to not use signal. Everything you can do on on WhatsApp, you can do on Signal for the most part. I mean, sure might some people might think that WhatsApp looks prettier, but fuck, come on. It this isn't this isn't about what it looks like, this is about functionality and it's about your privacy and your security. So uh people have to really start thinking about that a little bit more instead of thinking, oh well, I got nothing to hide. Well, that's fucking bullshit. You got lots to hide. Why do you fucking lock your door to your fucking apartment or your house every day? Because you don't want fucking people coming in and stealing your shit and looking at your stuff. That's true, right? So so why why would why why is your phone or why is your why are your communications and your conversations any different? So fuck. Yeah, that's true. Like, like fuck people. Like, I guess to me it's seriously, to me it's to me it's common sense. Yeah, it really is. A lot of it's common sense. And uh well, as we know, a lot of people don't have any common sense, so oh man. Anyway, anyway, um one at a time, right? That's that's that's all it is. Signal is a good thing. Uh again, it's free. You can make donations if you want to help them out and support them and so that they can continue with the with uh building on the on the great platform and product that they have. And uh yeah. That's that do it, do it.
SPEAKER_02Uh we um well not we, but I saw a meme about we just talked about stupid people, and I saw a meme about the mask. And the mask the the meme is uh a mask underneath the guy's nose, and it goes to those who still wear their mask below their nose, it's been almost a year now. It takes less time to potty train a toddler. Yeah. That's uh that's fucked.
SPEAKER_01It's it's it really is. I just don't know why it's such an inconvenience for some people. Um and why it people think it infringes on their um uh on their rights. 'Cause because that's what it's more about now. To me, it's to me it's more it's more about infringing on your rights as opposed to I can't breathe. That's just an excuse. Yeah. I mean, I mean, yes, there may be some people with health issues out there who might have an issue, and if that's the case, well, maybe I don't know, maybe you should stay home in then anyways instead of going out. But yeah. Um hey, I I'm sympathetic to those people who who actually do have health issues, and uh you know, you know, you throw in a pandemic on top of that now, and it makes things even worse for them, and that's not good. But I just like like I we had an incident here this past week, and it pisses me off. And I still think about it, and it still pisses me off.

SPEAKER_01So so we have a problem with our dryer. Uh I I think the belt is slipping, uh, it's making a bit of a racket. Um I I think I think the belt is getting loose, and and who knows? It could run for another week, it could break down tomorrow, uh, it could run for another month. Uh who knows? But it needs to be, you know, it needs to be inspected, it needs to be serviced. Yeah, we've been in this place for 13 years. Uh, you know, things break down, right? So some things need to be addressed. So, anyways, I called my landlord. He has a friend. I think it's some sort of uh uh there's a relationship within the family, or I don't know how it works. Anyways, uh it's none of my business. But he he this uh this guy has come in before to do some repairs and stuff like that. So uh this friend, um how how can I say this without going too long here? Um anyways, he was gonna bring this guy in, and I and I knew from when he was in here earlier last year that he he came into our smoke detector at the time. Uh I I I could have done it myself, but because it's the building uh smoke detector or part of the building alarm system, we don't own the place. I wanted my landlord to get somebody in here. That makes sense. So yeah, anyway, because it was something like that. I I don't want to fuck around with it.
SPEAKER_02Or warranties and you might fuck it up, or yeah, yeah, I get it. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, anyway. When he came in here, um I knew he was in and out in 15 minutes. It was a quick job. I knew that. Um, he he basically indicated that masks don't work. And I did, you know what, get get in, get out, fix this. I'm not even fucking gonna get into it with you.

SPEAKER_01Uh and I forgot about it. Well, when he said he was bringing this guy over to check our dryer, I said, Well, you know, it's it's mandatory to for all people, all visitors to be wearing masks, and all residents to be wearing masks in the in public spaces, indoor public places. So the lobby elevators, and I told him, I want to I want him to be massed up. We're masked up when he's doing work here too. And he said, Oh, well, he's got health issues, he doesn't wear a mask, and blah, blah, blah. I said, I'm sorry, man, again, I'm sympathetic to that. I I just but I I don't feel comfortable, and it's not gonna happen. Long, long story short, uh, you know, and I didn't really expect them to show up when they said they were gonna come. Well, long story short, they showed up at whatever noon on Friday. This was just a couple days ago. So uh they showed up, I said, okay, I'll meet you downstairs, because I knew that there was gonna be, I'm of course, not gonna let them in. I went downstairs, I had a mask with me, and uh sure enough, I show up at the door, I let some other people out who were coming and going, and uh he didn't have a mask on. I I said, Hey man, um sorry, I'm gonna have to ask you to put this on. And and you know, I don't know if you've got uh is it health issues or something like that? Uh can you yeah. Can you please do it? I just you have to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And and he he never he never said a word about any health issues. He said right away that it infringes on his rights and he wasn't going to put the mask on. That's the first thing. That's the first thing he said. So it's got it's got nothing to do with him not being able to breathe. It's got nothing to do with health issues. He's a fucking anti-masker, he's a fucking idiot. Yeah. And I fucking, you know, and and I said, Well, sorry. You're just not gonna come, you're not coming in. He said, Well, okay, I respect that. So it's not like he was, it's not like he was um standoffish. No, he so no, so he wasn't. So he you know, he started to walk away in and stuff like that. I said, you know, listen, listen, you're here, you drove all this way, like just put the mask on. It's gonna take you a short time, hopefully, just to take a look at the dryer, get it done. It needs to be fixed. Yeah. It needs to be somebody needs to look at it, right? You're here, let's do it.

SPEAKER_01No, no, he wasn't gonna do it. And uh, so then so then my landlord started giving me shit because it was my fault that they drove all this way, and now I'm not gonna let them into the building. And and uh I'm going, well fuck, it's not my fault. Yeah, I I I even told you, you know, I don't want I told you I don't want you in here, so why did you show up expecting to come in without a mask? Yeah. I mean, my landlord was wearing a mask, so he was fine, but but he's not yeah, he can't do fuck all. He's not a maintenance guy. So um so it it really pissed me off. And then it pissed me off because again, he tried to blame me and put put it all in my face. And then uh going in, hey, uh this isn't my fault, and then he goes, Well, it's not my fault either. And I'm going, Well, I'm not blaming you for anything. Like, what uh like I I'm not blaming you for fuck all. I just don't want you to come in without a mask on. So anyway, so you know it's it it was a shit show, and it just but it pisses me off that there's you know, I I tried to kind of resolve the situation, put the mask on, like fucking, you know, you're taking care of everybody else. I don't know where he's been, I don't know who he's been in contact with, I don't know if he's been sick, I don't know if he is sick now, and he expects to come in to the building and expose himself to other people. And to myself, and and and like, sorry, fuck, it's not gonna happen. And and use your fucking head why I took a stand like I did, like and like everybody else should too. So, anyways, it it's just you know, you you hear about it, you see it on the internet and in on the news and about all of these stupid pucking anti-maskers and stuff like that, and then when it happens to you, um like it just it it pisses me off. It it really does. And uh there's no fucking excuse for these selfish, ignorant, inconsiderate people. Like they're just they can all fuck off. Like they really can.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um it literally takes five seconds, and even if you had a health issue, uh one of my one of my close girls slash friends is uh half anti-masking. She doesn't like to wear masks, she does just to get the shit done, but yeah, she bitches about it all the time and posts these masks don't do anything and blah blah blah blah blah. I don't really get into it with her at all. I think I've talked about it before. Uh, but it's I don't you you don't know what you're talking about. And if you're all wearing a mask, this thing will be and you know, we and we bitched about this, you know, probably for 49 episodes. And yeah, and um, you know, just wear your fucking mask, and that's it. You're in, you're out. Like, how long does it literally take? You have to wear your mask when you go to the grocery store. Like, what does he do when he goes to a grocery store? How's this guy eating? Like, it just doesn't make any sense.

SPEAKER_02Like, what stand are you trying to prove? You're not you're not you're not losing any masculinity fucking wearing a mask. So just step up and just do your thing, man. And you know, now someone has to come back, or you're gonna lose your dryer in a little bit. So, like, what's what's your next move now? It puts you in a shit spot. So do you call your landlord, hey, I'm getting serious to come take a look at it. Sorry, here's the fucking bill. Like, what's like what's your next step?
SPEAKER_01Well, I told him that. I said, listen, like if we have to do the work, then you know, then fine, I'll do it. But it's it's just gonna get done, and I don't know how much it's gonna cost, but you're gonna be fucking liable for whatever bill comes through. And yeah, I think he's uh looking at somebody, so hopefully he does it soon. I told him I told him it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Again, it's not a do or die or life or death here. Yeah, and it could it could run for another day, it could run for another week or month, but who knows? But it needs to be looked at. So I think he's working on it, so that's good. But he's like he's just like I don't know, he's just he yeah, he he's he's a weird guy, he's a different guy. I mean, he's been good, he's been a decent landlord because he and he leaves us alone and he's only raised the rent on us like uh two or three times in the thirteen years we've been here and uh so that's not bad so but but yeah he's he's just like he's this guy who who didn't get married for a long time he's now in his fifties he suddenly meets a girl and he gets married and uh you know all of a sudden he's got three kids three years later or four years later and he's crying about money and you know he's oh and how unhappy he is that he's got got three young kids and he's got no life anymore well like well your fault buddy it's not my fault it's why and I and yeah it's just look in the mirror. Yeah don't fucking whine and cry to everybody. Have you seen this wife? Is she pretty hot yeah no no no comment no comments and that's and that's doesn't mean anything one way or another but uh but I know this maintenance guy or this family friend or whatever this this dude is like he's he lives in the valley and uh it you know it all makes sense like these these some of these people in the valley are these right wing fucking lug nuts who are probably inbred and uh and have these fucking weird ideas in their head right so anyways uh yeah it's just it it's just um yeah I mean it's just my landlord called me Jeff one day like I sent him rents like uh I don't send checks anymore we all do interact uh e-transfer or whatever it is right so so I sent him uh you know one one beginning of the month you know here's the money here's the password uh hope you're doing well blah blah blah the usual short chit chat you know oh thanks Jeff what Jeff who's Jeff like we've been here for 13 fucking years I sent you fucking money for rent just like and and you're calling me Jeff like he's he's just a weird fuck he really is so oh uh it's just it's weird all around and uh you know I'm I'm wondering with he you know he complains about money and you know he he he he's probably this place has probably doubled in value since we've been here okay uh you know and we've taken care of his investment and he still complains about fucking money and uh he even admitted uh I think in our conversation the other day that he was thinking of selling so um honestly we don't want to move um you know but hey it's never fun to move uh no moving during a pandemic I'm sure would be pretty fucking shitty so I hope it doesn't come to that so anyways well it's I mean don't stress out about it it is what it is oh no no no we're we're not we're not stressing out uh at all um even though if we do move we probably have to pay another five or six hundred bucks a month uh for for a place but uh yeah anyways because I know uh hey we we do have it good here I I admit it again like I said he hasn't raised the rent uh on us that much uh in our time here that's awesome and even even then he you know even I think like I think this year the the maximum the province has stipulated is for rent increases is like 1.4% or something like that so it's like really small right so it doesn't it wouldn't affect us if he even if he was raising the rent but I I just know looking at prices of other places we'd be paying a lot more money than what we're paying now if we had to move so it sucks hopefully it doesn't come to that you can do what I did move back in with my parents uh that that'd be kind of tough when they're when they're over in the next province. A little bit of a commute for you but it's yeah hey maybe I could continue to work from home which uh which would work for me but I it wouldn't work for uh for the wife so I'm still going in one day a week or is that now ended? Oh no that ended that ended pretty quick. I think I went in I went in to work in September I think it was when they started doing that I think I went to the office three or four times and then things got shitty again. So back at home every day. So back home every day. So and it you know what the way it's going uh even though the vaccines have rolled out the way it's going I think that's going to continue for quite a bit longer. Oh yeah thing things they're saying things are really gonna turn shitty again even though BC is still not looking that bad. BC is doing a pretty good job overall at least when it comes to numbers uh Ontario is really shitting bad and but they say all across Canada the next 30 days could get really bad.

SPEAKER_02Yeah technically well at Christmas so it hasn't been a full month yet it's the 17th so in seven days it'll be I gave you an early Christmas present. I don't know the exact date but uh I can st I can tell you right now because I haven't shared everything's all ready to rock but I gotta do so there's um one I have to get files off my old PC still there's some one thing I need that I'm gonna get rid of that and then I'll install Tatooine. Excuses excuses okay you sent it on uh December 18th so one tomorrow is there you go there you go I knew it'd buy anything for your Christmas gift did you get any sweet vinyl?
SPEAKER_01I haven't yet no no I haven't well have I bought anything I'm trying to think of I haven't ordered from Amazon because I'm trying to stop ordering anything from them. What else? What have I got I have picked up a couple things online here I forget um fuck I can't remember that's okay right I can't remember we'll talk about it next week hey I've got a couple coffees and and stuff from Starbucks and stuff you know whenever I've been out so I've in a way it because it was cash in a way I've put it to good use I'm sure there did you get the uh dark chocolate mocha I got a couple peppermint mochas over Christmas no I haven't been to uh one of the what are those specialty stores called of their Starbucks reserves yeah I have not been to a reserve bar uh in a while actually so but the peppermint mochas over Christmas really hit the spot so those were good my favorite Christmas Starbucks drink and this is a plug is eggnog lattes oh yeah those were my crack I got one of those trying to get one of those every day wow it's like a dessert it just goes down so smooth okay Starbucks there you go fork over some cash now right we'll take that Bitcoin uh forgot it's all shit did you see that Bitcoin story about that dude who has like 18 bitcoins but he forgot his password and he forgets two times he loses yeah no way because didn't Bitcoin hit like 4000 or something there 4000 one one bitcoin one bitcoin but it's fuck it goes up and down I know super quick that was a s that was a high I don't know what it's dropped to because I know it's kind of rolled back a little bit but still like if you got into Bitcoin I mean hey all of us when it comes to stock market or anything like that I mean we could have all gotten in at a really good low low low number and stuff and it's very volatile though for sure Bitcoin is even more so than than your regular stocks and stuff like that but fuck that's a lot of money.
SPEAKER_02Like so like 18 bitcoins like how much money is that worth like fuck well 18 times whatever we'll say what like we'll just say 4000. Yeah 18 times 401 234 that's uh $72000. Holy shit and he lost his password so he has two more attempts before he loses all his bitcoins. Oh man but isn't that so if he well yeah I mean without a password what do you do? Like he can't go to Bitcoin.com and be like well these are my bitcoins it's on my phone he's like what's a password I'm like well I don't know but it's on my phone it's registering well we don't know that like like what do you do? It's just uh he's uh he's on the low end of the shit sandwich for that one.
