Licking your freezer clean might be more productive than this, but at least they both love heavy metal. Here are the old men, Adam and Steven. Yes, welcome all to it. This is the Old Men He Yellow Clouds Podcast when we get together to talk about the things that matter to us. We're episode number 159. As we recorded, it is January 11th, 2026. It's approximately 11 a.m. and we are podcasting live out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Good day.
SPEAKER_01We would like to honor and acknowledge that we join you today from the traditional ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Slaywood Tooth Nations 2026.
SPEAKER_00You got it right? We were crushing it. We're crushing it. My name is Adam, and you can't see his beard, but the mad the marvelous beard that is chatting is Stephen. Hello, Steven. Hi Adam. Happy New Year. Happy New Year to you. And uh before we get into things that matter to us, you can support our webcast our podcast by hitting our website, theoldmen.ca, and subscribing to our podcast. And if you want to help us out, buy us a coffee, okay? Please buy us a coffee. We need coffee. I think we have enough for two coffees, it's from the same person. That's right. That's right. So we're trending up. We're trending up in 2026.
SPEAKER_01Let's go for four. Yeah, we get a teaspoon each. That's about it, right? So a teaspoon each over six years.
SPEAKER_00All right. Well something like that. Uh do we hop right into it? Let's, you know, uh first, let's have a happy near. We'd said that at the top. Um, how was New Year's Eve for you? Did you stay up to midnight? Did you go to bed at 9 p.m.? What did you end up doing? I think we were in bed by 11 p.m. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Something like that. Maybe 11 30. I don't know. We didn't make it to midnight, that's all I know. So it was um uh yeah, pretty uneventful for us. You know, it's hey, we're old, right? Or I'm old, okay. So I'm old. Uh I'll just speak for myself. I'm not gonna speak for anybody else, except for maybe you, because you're getting old too. So you know, everything hurts, you know. Yeah, it does. Let's see. We watched some movies, I think, and you know what? It's only two weeks ago or less than two weeks ago, and I still can't remember what we watched. So there's the definition of getting old.
SPEAKER_00Um, what did I know? We got dressed up all fancy, so like got a super suit on, um, the suit and tie, and then we hit two breweries and ordered a pizza, then came home, got in comfies and watched a movie. All right. What did you watch? Can you remember what you watched? Nope. Okay, Steve, you're old. Well, there's so much stuff that happens between then and now. There's yeah, I have so much stuff in this fucking big head of mine, it's really hard to remember the things. I'm assuming you're the same way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. Lots going on. We're very busy, but you know, we've been watching so much stuff too, and that's why I can't remember uh you know what I've watched from one week to the next. You know, it's it's crazy. You know, I I you know I think we consume a lot of content, and you know, you can your brain can only hold so much, so you gotta purge.
SPEAKER_00You know, I was thinking about this earlier, you know, and there's a lot of shit happening in the world right now, but like we watch a video of someone being murdered, we watch a cat video, we watch someone promoting her only fan, we watch the latest diet fab, we watch a deep political analysis, we watch someone dancing to the latest hit, we watch live footage of war all in one minute. It's not really good for our brains, you know. And I think that you know, there's lots of studies, shit, and stuff coming out because this is not good for us. We we absorb so much content in a short amount of time. I don't even remember what I ate for dinner yesterday. Actually, it was a lamb's deal, it was actually pretty good. But like it's like like we we have so much shit and just so much access to stuff that's happening right now in the moment. Like it's it's absolutely crazy.
SPEAKER_01That's that's very true. It's um, you know, I'm connected all the time. You know, I've always got you know, I'm working, and when I'm not working, I'm still connected. Um even when I am working, I'm connected. You know, I'm kind of still, you know, I've got I'm busy, I've got lots to do, but you know, you take uh short breaks and stuff like that, you gotta step away. And yeah, and during those times, I'm still connected. That's that's the thing. So I'm always aware of uh what's going on. Um and there's lots going on. That's that's just there's there's more going on now. I I mean, is there more going on? Does it seem like there's more going on now because we're always connected, or or is it actually more fucked up than it ever used to be? Because that's part of it. There's good things, there's bad things. There's there's more bad things, obviously. It seems happening right now, and it's pretty bad.
SPEAKER_00Well, like US invaded Venezuela, ICE killed a citizen, Iran has a full war zone, and it's day 11 of 2026.
SPEAKER_01There you go. That's just crazy. That's just well, the the Venezuela thing, the ice thing that's been going on longer. But but I mean, that particular news is just in the last there's so much of that content, that specific content in the past 11 days that uh yeah, you can only hold so much of it, I guess.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, it's that's uh it's get it's getting scared. I've so I'm assuming you've I wasn't getting into this, but I'm assuming you've saw that footage of the ice lady killing the unarmed lady driving away in a motor vehicle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, for sure. It's pretty tragic. It is fucked up. It's um, you know, and and and and they ended up releasing just yesterday or the day before they released more footage. Like this was the federal government now, or whoever released it on the government side to try and explain their story, and I don't think that really did much to help their case. I I mean, I mean, obviously the vehicle moved and a an ICE officer felt threatened, which is I think ridiculous because you know, here here's here's here's the biggest thing out of all of it. Yes, yes, you can get seriously injured by a moving vehicle. There's there's no question. But was she trying to do that on purpose? No, I think she was just trying to get away. That's the thing. And here the Trump and his fucking puppets are saying that it's a domestic terrorism. They are saying that it's all the fault of the left, the left-wing politics, left-wing newspapers and press, and and and just the public in general, right? And and you know, that's just fucking crazy. It it really is. I think this just this woman is again tragic, and I'm not trying to think go into her head and figure out what maybe she was thinking or doing or whatever. But uh, but hey, she she's she's scared, and I think she just wanted to get the fuck out of there, right? That's that's all it was, and um and now she's dead, just like that, just an instant, and it ex it it uh accelerated, not accelerated. What's the word I'm looking for? It um it uh evolved so quickly, like it just it's it's it's like bang, it just happened, yeah. Right, and uh, you know, for these for these officers, if you want to call them officers because they're a bunch of fucking goons, that's really all they are. Yep. Um, for them to make that decision so quickly based on so little, uh I think it's just it's terrible. It's they shouldn't have been there. They shouldn't be there, they shouldn't be there now. They shouldn't have been in all the cities that they've been to already that Trump um basically ordered them to go in and you know clean up, and they're just creating a mess. That's all it is. They're creating a mess.
SPEAKER_00And they'll get pardons and be excluded from the law, and they'll end up doing it somewhere else.
SPEAKER_01Well, it won't even come to a pardon because Trump doesn't even think they did anything wrong, right? So um what's going on down there is is really bad. The whole the Venezuela thing is just it's um it's the thing is it's not just involving Venezuela at this point. Yes, yeah, they've been blowing up uh boats, which they say are track trafficking drugs, they have been stealing tanker ships. Um let's call it pirate pirating. Let's pirate, yeah. That's that's really what it amounts to here because it's I I mean they have I don't think they have any jurisdiction. I don't think they have any right to be doing what they're doing. It's fine if you want to uh protect America and the people, but they're going way, they're crossing the line. They've crossed the line a long time ago. That's watch, too. Yeah, and then to basically kidnap, because they're never gonna say kidnap, but that's essentially what happened. They kidnapped a the president of a foreign country. Yes, what the fuck? What the fuck, you know? Um and now it's just you know, I mean, now it's just blown up from there, right? Uh, you know, all the talk about them wanting to do Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Greenland is the big one for all the rest, probably, just because Denmark is a NATO country. I mean, what the hell is gonna happen if they go into Denmark into Greenland? Is that World War III at that point? Basically, everybody against the United States, and that's that's not gonna end well, yeah, um, for anybody. Uh, and of course, Canada's caught in the middle here. So, yeah, it's um it's it's not good. And you know, you know, Trump is doing and saying all these things and trying to work out a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Here he invites Putin to American soil. Putin is on the list of every other country's uh want list. Basically, there's a reward for his or not a reward, but there is a any other country would arrest him because of war crimes. Like the the whoever basically somebody, the UN, I don't know who who does this, but basically they've said uh he's wanted for war crimes and he should be arrested on the spot. Well, Trump invites him to America and has this nice friendly chat with him, and they fills him up with fucking nice food and drink and sends him off his way. And um, you know, that's and here he goes and kidnaps a president from another country. Um, he's he's he's taking these oil tankers and basically because they were bound, a lot of them are bound for Russia and uh wherever, China, Iran, like I don't know for sure, but you know, and here he is gonna he's he's pirating or he's you know taking these ships and he's still gonna sell the oil to to Russia and China anyway. Like, like what is that? Like it's uh I don't know. And uh what was the other thing I was gonna say? You know, he wants to buy potash from Russia. Here he is applying all of these tariffs to Canada. He doesn't want can Canada's potash. We are the we are at present, or at least we were, the number one exporter of potash to America. And now for some reason he wants to get potash from from Russia. Like, does that really make sense? No, nope. So there's lots of shit going on. Um and I just don't understand it. It's it's getting worse and worse and worse. So we've been talking about Trump for a very long time, and um the guy is a narcissist, uh, probably the biggest ever. And um, you know, he he's everybody hates Putin, everybody hates Russia for many reasons. Trump is now worse than Putin is. He really is. And maybe maybe we can say that because he's just across the border from Canada. I don't I don't know what the you know, but you look at everything he has done, even in his this latest, even in year one of his second term. Look at everything he's done. And um we're not the world is not in a better place because of everything that's going on. So not one bit. It's it's just fucked. Yeah. So um, well, let's lock let's talk about Rob Reiner. Let's just talk about what happened with him and and Michelle. Like just awful, right? And uh regardless of what Trump thinks or says, the the whole situation is tragic. Like it's just like I don't know what's going on there. Um if you you know everybody knows that son Nick has been charged with uh two counts of first degree murder. Yeah, um he's had a lot of problems, a lot of shit going on in his life, and again, um whatever. It's obviously it's it's pretty sad. Yeah, and again, regardless of whether or not it's a famous Hollywood actor and director, it's still pretty shitty. But but for Trump to say what he did, um basically he accused Rob Reiner himself of his own death. He accused, and again, he he called out the left again. He basically said Rob Reiner was obsessed. Again, he's making Trump is making it about himself here, right? Oh, yeah, and that and that's the reason that he's dead. And it's like see, there's narcissism again all over, right? It's just but but the biggest thing is again, he brought in the left-wing uh politics into this, and basically that that played a big key in what's going on, and he knocked all of the people, all of the left-wing, you know, press and government and politics, politicians, and and then the public, right? Yep. What happened when a lot of people maybe wrongly did so? What happened with all the people when Charlie Kirk got uh murdered, right? Trump Trump basically called out everybody who was being negative about it, and here he is doing the exact same thing when somebody like that something like this happened to the other side, right? Like he he's he totally contradicts everything he says, and he's a fucking wing nut. Really, that's all he is. He is, yeah, that's yeah, and he's and he's running the so-called most popul most powerful nation in the world, and that's why we're in big shit. Oh, just yeah.
SPEAKER_00I don't uh yeah, shit. So what's he what's he posting all these is as what's he posting his updates on? It's not Twitter, he's not using Twitter anymore because him and Musk had a fallout. What's he using to post his shit on? He uses his own platform.
SPEAKER_01Is didn't he develop well? I don't know if he developed, but he had somebody develop and launch um it's called Truth, isn't it called Truth? Oh, that's something like that. Truth, yeah. Yeah, Truth Social. Truth Social, that's it. Which is a basically a even further right wing social media platform than X has become. Right. So um yeah. Yeah, so it's just uh obviously obviously he posts there, but it becomes widespread circulation at that point because everybody picks up on it and and posts it every place else. So we all we all know what's going on with Trump all the time, regardless of what he says or does, whether he's on a plane, whether he's in the White House, whether it's on Truth Social. It's uh unfortunately we have to hear all that and um and take it seriously. That's the other thing. We have to take this shit seriously. Um because we don't know for sure what he's going to do. And I mean I don't think he knows what he's gonna do half the time either. So I don't know. Uh I um yeah. 2026 has not started off in a good way for many reasons, and dipshit Trump is one of them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it's tough. It's just tough to watch, it's tough to like I mean I echo everything you said for the most part. Like it's just like we can add on to it. Like everything you said is in my head is right. Like it's just I just don't know what to say about it. It's just yeah, like, and what do you do to make a difference? Like one person can make a difference, but you like like how do you make a difference and how do you stand up toward this stuff? You it's tough to do that.
SPEAKER_01Well, well, it's it's tough for us to make a difference, uh, at least at least as individuals, because we're a bunch of nobodies to him. Yeah, even even the American people overall are nobodies to him because as much as he might say he cares about the American people, he doesn't. Um you know, but but it's time for, and I think it's happening a little bit. So far, it's not enough to make a difference, but it's happening a little bit where leaders of other countries, uh I guess including Canada, are are not so far it's not to a point where they're they're standing up to him. Yeah. Uh and so far it seems to be a lot of words, but there has to be more to that. There has but there had the thing is there has to be more action, not just a bunch of fucking talk. You know, people saying, Oh, Greenland is a sovereign nation, and uh any decisions about Greenland should be by the people themselves, the people of Greenland themselves, right? And sure it's it's that and that's true, but it's one thing to say that, but it's another thing to actually do something about it and to tell basically Trump to shove him, shove it up his ass. And um, you know, people are scared. That that's that's the thing. People are scared of Trump. They they they really are because they don't want to do anything to piss him off because number one, nobody is knows what he's gonna fucking do. Number two is countries, including Canada, are still trying to work with the United States when it comes to trade and and security and you know, all of this other stuff. You know, so it's it's it's a difficult thing to do, but you know, Canada is trying to trade with other countries now, you know, create some trade agreements and even even security stuff, you know, working with other countries to make sure our country is secure, the Arctic is secure, um, you know, buying our military equipment from other countries, that's a long process, but you know, there's all that talk. You know, so some of that is happening, but but we really have to stand up to Trump somehow. Um because he's just gonna keep on going. Exactly. You know, something has to force him to stop. I don't know what that answer is, but you know, it is up to the leaders of all of these other countries, Canada included, to somehow put a stop to it. Um as citizens, as Canadian citizens, um we are, you know, I think a lot of people are still boycotting products from the United States, and I think it's made an impact. I think I think I think um you know there's lots of products that are affected, I think, and these country, uh these companies in America are are taking a hit, and that's good. That's that's good. It's their their president, they can blame him, and I think they are. You know, things like whiskey, like Jack Daniels or you know, Kentucky whiskey, or you know, whatever. That's just one example and stuff. Yeah, but I mean those those companies are taking a hit. Um the other thing is travel. Um you know, you know, cities and destinations south of the border, especially just across the border, are crying because of the decreased amount of traffic from Canadians. Like nobody is crying. Well, I'm not gonna say nobody because I mean that's a problem I still have. Really, I do. I I I I have a problem with people traveling to the States. We're a year now into this second term, and look at all of the shit that's happened. At this point, you can't say, Oh, I I planned a vacation a long time ago, I don't want to lose my money, because that that was a valid excuse. Nobody wants to nobody can afford to lose that amount of money by by deciding not to by deciding to cancel their trip, right? Yeah, they're gonna lose all their money. At this point, that's not an excuse anymore because like like I I like I'm not I don't know what your travel plans are, and I'm not you know dumping on you. I'm talking in general here. It's you know, people and and this is past the tariffs and the 51st state bullshit, right? Yeah, which was uh you know, I think kickstarted all of this. That's why a lot of people decided not to travel down there. You got the shit at the borders, yeah. You've got ice and everything going on, you've got so you've got you know your own safety and stuff like that. I mean, sure, most people aren't gonna go and get themselves involved in some of this stuff that's going on down there, but still, you know, you have to think about you know what's happening to these people, and you know, it's it's becoming as bad as other other countries in the world where it's unsafe to travel. Yeah, uh the Venezuela stuff, the Greenland stuff, like there's a whole long list of reasons now why people should be avoiding the United States in any way they can. It's true, and um like like let's I think we need to keep going, right? Like, yes, it's a year in, people might be growing bored of it or trying to forget about it and moving on with their lives and while we have to, but we can still keep continue with certain things that I think will help in the long run. Again, some of these things have affected um business in the United States. Well, why not just take it another step further? Why not just let's stop going period? Like, you know, we hear this, we see the stats about the the number of people. Who are not flying to the United States or crossing the border and stuff like that, and that's and that's great. But there's still a you know, a hundred thousand people or that's still and that's a large number of people who are still traveling to the United States. Some people have to travel on business, I get it. That's what you can you can't do anything about that. But yeah, for pleasure, for for travel and pleasure for for you know those reasons, go someplace else or stay home. Really, that's that's where we can hurt them, right? Yeah, you know, so and that's that's our only you know, we have to become informed, we have to, you know, send our money elsewhere. That's that's all we can do. And then hope our government is gonna kind of take care of the rest of it. So but yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you had a great article from the Vancouver Sun here, like no one's traveling to just like like the quote is most people are like, hey, let's go to Disneyland or Hawaii or but now they're all looking at alternative options because it's all US based.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, exactly. And that was one article, like like it's you know, out of Vancouver International Airport in 2025 compared to 2024. Well, yeah, sure the numbers have dropped significantly, but it's only like 10%. Yeah, at least that's what this story says. Well, that still means a lot of people are traveling to the United States. And and again, I I don't I don't know why they're doing it. So um anyway, yeah, that's all I can say, but it's it's tough, it's but it sucks. And uh I hate that we're still you know that we have to continue to talk about this, but it does affect us a little all of us. It affects us in a big way. And it could affect us more in the future if we're not careful.
SPEAKER_00So well, I think if we don't make the change now, it's just setting us up for uh more of a I guess what's the word, dystonient future. Like it's just things are just gonna get out of control and we're not gonna be able to well, we'll be able to recover, but it's gonna be a slower, slower process.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And of course it's could end up being worse when you've got wars started. I mean, that's that's the other thing. Trump Trump wants Trump has been claiming that he should get the Nobel Peace Prize and that he has personally stopped all of put an end to all of these wars, like what, seven or eight different wars. Uh, you certainly can't add uh Ukraine and Russia to that list yet because he's done fuck all. But but so he's he's trying to say all this stuff, and then he and then he supplies Israel with all of these arms and stuff like that, and then look what they do to Palestine, right? So there's that. He goes and he bombs Iran, he takes out their their you know nuclear projects and stuff, stuff like that. Yeah. Uh then he goes and it's a it was a military operation. It's not like he just went in and you know snatched the president of Venezuela Venezuela. He he actually it was a military um um it was a military thing. People died, including civilians, including people from Venezuela, including people from Cuba. Uh, that was a military operation. Yeah, it was a planned and coordinated attack. Yeah, attack, exactly. That's what it was. And here he is, you know, he's here he is talking about invading these other countries. Uh again, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, and Greenland. Um, and he says that military uh military operation is an option. So what the what the fuck? He he he's he's not he he's not trying to promote peace. That's for damn bet. Yeah, so um, anyways, that's I'm I'm I'm tired of it, I really am, but at the same time, we have reason to be concerned. So yeah, that's tough.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what to do. Maybe you have the answer. If you do, hit us up. Let's just help us out, okay? We need the answers. We don't have all the answers. We have some answers, but we don't have all the answers. Uh, you can always get a hold of us at the oldmen.ca. Steven's actually done a great uh job updating our webpage. Uh it looks pretty good, man. I I like it a lot. So a lot of uh back end work going into that. Yeah, but that a smidge or I mean it look it looks great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's uh you know, there's a couple of links, dead links and stuff. I gotta try and find some time, simple stuff like that to try and just fix a little bit. And yeah, still some updates to do on our previous episodes. And um yeah, so it's a work in progress still, and uh hopefully all of our episodes or certainly a lot of the recent ones will be there real soon. Um I've gotta fix uh still fix the feed links with the other um you know podcast platforms and and whatever. Uh so definitely go to our site first if you can't uh get the links working on the other platforms, they will be fixed soon, but um it's coming together, it's coming together slowly anyway. So that's what counts.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what counts. Um, well, you know, I we went to from New Year's to Trump and bullshit. So let's talk about Christmas. How is Christmas?
SPEAKER_01You know, I I uh and I'm just gonna keep bitching and complaining. If you want me to stop, you just tell me to stop. No, I'm in. Put me in, coach. What do we got? Well, um I always look forward to you know spending some time at alone, uh or not alone, but at home. Um you know, we we we have tried to hook up with family and stuff in the past. This year it just didn't work out. Um, but so regardless, um, you know, we were looking at some, you know, just some time off and some real relaxation. Um the you know, because we were both off for about a week anyway. So we were both off for a week. I was off for a little bit longer, you know. So it's kind of a time to relax, recharge, you know, if you want to go do something great. Um, we did actually go to Squamish. I know we talked about that. We took the sea to sky uh gondola, which was really cool. Yeah, it's it's really nice up there. Um, we didn't do a lot of hiking or walking around. I think we're gonna save that for another trip in the springtime. Uh, but it it's it is amazing up there, it's so beautiful. Squamish is great, yeah. Yeah, so that was that was good. It was nice to go for a drive. The highway wasn't too busy. Um uh let's see, we went to a restaurant for lunch. That was cool. It was uh what the hell was it? Oh, it's the watershed cafe. Are you aware of that? It's like the side of the highway kind of thing. It's further it's further up north. What's the what's the I don't know if it's an actual town outside of Squamish or Breckendale, Brecken Bridge, Brecken, Bracken something. It's probably it's part of Squamish, I think. It's just a region of of the city now. It's changed so much though, you know. I haven't been up there in a long time. Okay, Squamish is really grown. Um, yeah, watershed cafe, it's along the river, kind of a cool, trendy place. Um yeah, really, really neat inside. The food was decent. Um apparently it's popular for some filming and stuff that happens in the area. That's cool, or at least along the river there, anyways. So, anyway, so we did that. So we had we had a good day for sure. That was a lot of fun. Um so overall at Christmas the break and stuff wasn't too bad, but you know, a couple things were going on, some computer issues that kind of kept me busy. I spent a good number of hours and days working on some problems uh that included you know working with some family and you know trying to get some certain things right with them. That took up a lot of time. Of course, our websites and stuff, lots of lots of time spent on that. Um, you know, so overall, I don't think you know, I went to work this week and I didn't really feel all that recharge, that's for sure. Shit. Um I want to talk about our neighbors real quick though. Like like your neighbors in your apartment building? Yes. Okay, like like right beside us, there's this asshole who has been smoking pot on his balcony. We've talked about my my disgust with cigarettes and and marijuana smoke uh over past episodes. I it's my probably my number one pet peeve. I have I don't tolerate it at all. If I'm outside walking down the street and and I'm behind somebody smoking for two blocks, it's like like what is that? You're outside getting some fresh air, having a nice walk, and you've got to suck in this fucking smoke from somebody just in front of you. Like that's that's that's gross. Anyway, we have a no smoke, no smoking policy in the building, like it's a strata law. No smoking in your rooms, no smoking in common, common uh areas that includes balconies, that includes your own suite. You can there's no smoking, there's supposed to be no smoking here. This asshole smokes on his balcony, he's tucked in kind of just inside of his patio door, so I can't see him. That's just the way the patio is laid out. I can't see him, but I know it's him. Uh we go outside, I can hear him coughing and hacking around the fucking corner there. I know it's him, right? Yeah, the thing is we don't have any actual proof, like we have no photos or videos of him actually smoking, so Strata's not gonna do anything about him. They're not gonna find him, certainly, anyways, right? But we know like here's here's the thing with fucking cigarette smoke and pot is that like we know it's him because it blows in. Well, not a we know for many reasons, but the thing that we know when he's smoking because it comes in through our kitchen vent. So we've got our hood fan above the stove, right? Yep, and it goes out, it's piped out to our balcony. Well, it comes in through there and it's and it's fucking strong and it's disgusting, and it lasts for a good half hour in our place, like you know, you know. So we're in our own fucking private space and we have to deal with shit, shit like that. If it didn't come into our space, then probably no big deal, right? He shouldn't be doing it. But if it didn't come into our own private space, or if let's say it was summertime and we're trying to just sit on the balcony or something, it's still our own private space. Yeah. But when it so when that happens, it's a problem. And you know, so I've tried to confront him on a a couple of times just saying, you know, like like like what what are you doing? You you can't be doing this. Of course, I'm getting pissed off at us after a certain point, and that's not good. You know, but you have this shit happening, and it's really frustrating, and it's and it's like nobody is doing anything about it, and that's the problem I have. And he he's an asshole, just like fucking Trump is, that he doesn't care. Right? He he he you know, I'm trying to talk talk to him and and and and say, you know, you know, it's a problem for us, and what are you doing? And he turns around and says, he he he makes this about me. He says things like, oh, well, what are you doing spying on me? Well, we're we're not spying. Number one, we're not spying on you, pal. Your shit is coming into our unit. Don't why don't you get that? Number two, he says things like uh he said three or four things that basically threw it back in my face. He said, Oh, I've got an anger issue, you know, why don't I go to anger management or something like that? Number two, or number three, I guess, is um I've got um, oh, I'm an old man, why don't I go to fucking bed? Like, like, like that this is his response to me. Yeah. And number four is I don't have a wife or a girlfriend, and I guess I'm a loser. Like, like, like seriously, like you're fucking 10 years old, pal. Like, like, grow, you know, you know, you're the one that needs to fucking get a life and grow up. How old is he really? I don't know. I you know, that's the thing. I I've I've never seen him. Uh, I've so the I the whole idea is, you know, I've because I've expressed my frustration to concierge and and stuff, and they said, Oh, well, you know, call us. When this happens, call us. Well, here's what happens. I call them, they go up to his door, bang on his door. He doesn't even answer the door. Yeah. We know he's home, they know he's home. Um, he's not answering his door. Well, that's you know why? Because he's fucking guilty. That's why. And he's yeah, he opened the door. We're gonna know, they're gonna know right away that it's him and that he's fucking, you can smell it, you can probably see, you know, him and his behavior. Like he's he's just a fucking loser. Here's here's the fucking kicker, though. Here's here's here's the thing that really pissed me off. Um, as if I couldn't get more pissed off at him already. Sometime over the Christmas holidays, we walked out of our door, and there's a big fucking rug rolled up beside his door. It's not between us and him, it's between him and the unit on the other side. So there's this big rug rolled up and some small shitty foam mattress or something like that. And we look at it and you know, it's like, oh, okay, well, you know, hopefully that's not there very long. Yeah, yeah. Well, later that day, or certainly the next morning, we found out that it is probably infested with bed bugs. Oh, good. So he here he he didn't so he he took that out of his unit, put it in the fucking hallway. It's sitting like two feet away from the door next to him on the other side. Yeah. And it's sitting there. It's like, what the fuck are you thinking, pal? Like, yeah, like what are you doing? It should have been bagged immediately and taken out to fucking garbage or wherever, right? Yep. You don't leave it's sitting on carpet, it's a carpet itself rolled up, sitting on carpet. Like, and we found out yesterday or the day before that yes, he you there were bed bugs because his unit is being treated for it. Yeah. You know, so pest control came and they sp, you know, fine. See, so here's the thing finally, his property manager, because he rents through a property management company, um, they deal, you know, they take care of everything for the owner of that suite. Eventually, the property manager came and picked up the carpet. But what did they do? They just fucking hauled the carpet, the rolled-up carpet, down the hall, into the elevator, down the hallway, out on the main floor, and then who knows what they did with it. But did they bag it up? Did they cut it? Did they do anything with it? No.
SPEAKER_00Treat it before they grabbed it, yes.
SPEAKER_01No, they didn't. So here they hauled this shit out, probably spread more shit, who knows where, and uh, you know, creating possibly creating a bigger problem. And see, that's how fucking stupid people are. They've got no fucking common sense at all. And I that's the problem I have in this world today. Nobody thinks, nobody has any consideration for anybody else. Um you know, so so it's this is playing with my head, and maybe I'm a little bit going a little bit overboard with it. But that's fine. Bed bugs are fucking gross. I've never had bed bugs before. You know what? I don't know that I've ever seen one before. Uh every time I travel, I'm looking to make sure that there's nothing in the room that I'm staying at, stuff like that. Uh, I don't think I've seen one. I've yeah, you know, I've never been uh I've never come across them, which is a good thing, but it plays with your head, man, because I think it's fucking disgusting. Oh, it's really gross. And here I am getting all all itchy, and it's like, you know, and I know it's my head playing with me, probably for the most part. You know, here I'm checking our bed and because that shit can spread quite easily, right? And it's tough to get rid of. And it's tough to get rid of, yes. You know, I'm reading that they can, you know, we don't fortunately we don't have wooden walls, right? It's all steel uh or metal and then dip rock or or uh you know, so but they can come through conduit, right? So we've got our bedroom wall is next to his living room. Now I don't know if this rug of his and and how bad his unit is infected, but you know, it's it's like shit. Can this can you know, or are they gonna come through the fucking electrical units or plugs or whatever, right? Um it's but it's but it's yeah, I know. See, that's I mean that's what happens. Um, you know, so far we haven't seen anything, but you know, it's like I just the it's the whole fucking thing that happened, and how he doesn't care, how his property management company didn't seem to fucking care. Um, he is again they've treated his room. Apparently they come back in two weeks after that first treatment and they do it again. I don't know what it is they do, they've done the hallway and stuff from his unit down to ours and maybe further, I suppose. But but that but that it's just like it's just it shouldn't have gotten to that point, right?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm just that's fucking bullshit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is so you know this is this is those things have basically ruined our holidays. There it really did. It really did. Like it's just no, I get it. It's you know, I you know, we we we love our place, otherwise, I think we're in a good spot, or we've got a great landlord, and I don't want to move anywhere. And and the problem is you're gonna move somewhere and you're gonna run into shitty people wherever you're at, right? So so it's a no-win situation. But my my point is there's fucking losers out there who don't care about anybody else. Yeah. And that's that's the world we live in today. It's it's worse now after COVID. That's that's really what it is. People don't give a shit after COVID. No, nothing, they don't care.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, I agree with that. And there's ways like the pot smoke. Like, I used to be a massive pothead. Um, I had to stop because I got the fear and I can't smoke because of my job anymore, or do edibles or any of that fucking shit. But there was that was like I was always tried to be considerate and walk away or go smoke in a forest or do something and not affect anyone. But the there's now like the vapes which you can have. So if you're gonna smoke in your house, you can get one of those vapes that are odorless. So you can do what you want, and that wouldn't affect anybody. You can do it illegally, you can do it in your apartment, it doesn't do anything because there's no odor to it. So I wish that guy would fucking just he's giving the good stoners a bad name.
SPEAKER_01Well, well, he is because there are a lot of people who do go downstairs. A lot of people downstairs or around the corner or whatever, right? A lot of people do it. And yes, I walk to the garbage room, and that's where a lot of them hang out, and I can't stand it. But you know what? At least they're outside, right? Yeah, and that's it. And and that's the main thing. Uh vaping is also part of the no-smoking policy in in units. So, yes, even though it may be odorless, uh, it's still technically not allowed in in this uh in this complex apartment complex, but um it's better than the fucking smoke or whatever it is.
SPEAKER_00And actually have you ever walked by a vape and there's like the blueberry slash watermelon vanilla stuff? It actually doesn't smell too bad. Well, well, no, no, that's true.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if it's any better for you or not, but yeah, not on. But here's here's the thing with vaping now is that you see people vaping on buses and transit, you see people vaping in bars and pubs and restaurants. It's like, dude, you know, it's you you might think you're not what you're doing is no big deal and it's not affecting me, but it's still it is, number one, and most important. But number two is it's still considered smoking and it's not allowed. It's like, come on, fucking asshole, like stop it. Like, you know, and you can't approach these people because again, they don't think they're doing anything wrong. They'll just tell you to fuck off, mind your own business. Well, I'm trying to mind my own business, but your fucking shit is blowing my way. Yeah, like fuck.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, that's tough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The next thing you could do, because I had a friend in a similar situation. Um, again, the concierge call us when it happens. Well, tell them to come up to your apartment because they can come up to your apartment and then they can smell it coming through the vents. And it's not just gonna be you, it's the people like to the right of you, to the left of you, up and down. Yeah, so it's like the Brady Bunch thing, like you're in the middle, and there's like he's affecting all the rooms around there. So hopefully that it's not just you guys complaining. Hopefully, everyone else is uh saying something about it, and uh you can do what's right.
SPEAKER_01Well, they have they have gone so far as as uh telling me I should get a selfie stick and connect my camera and kind of hang it out my patio and point it his way to try and to try and actually catch him on video, because then they will actually do something about it, right? Yeah. Um apparently they've even told the property manager that hey, there's a problem with this guy, you know, what are you gonna do? And of course, to this point, nothing. So um I mean, yeah, I could try the selfie stick thing, but I mean, is that putting me in a spot where I might be in trouble too? Because I don't want to shine a camera into his unit. Yes, I would like to catch him just around the corner outside, you know, catch him doing his thing. Um but again, I you know, am I uh am I in trouble because I'm shining a camera into his property? That space, you know, right? So anyway, concierge told me I could do it, but that doesn't make it legal. So and that's what it is. And like you don't want it to blow back on you at all. No, no, I don't. Because again, at this point, I'm doing nothing wrong. And yet, like I said, he spins things around and make it makes it look like I'm the bad guy here, right? When yeah, I've done fuck all.
SPEAKER_00So the other option is you can get the concierge to do it. If he comes into your unit with a selfie stick, you can go buy one for Amazon, 15 bucks, whatever it is. Here's your stick, take the photo. They do it, because now it's not only uh like your word, it's the actual concierge's word. If they have any sort of power, whatever, but they have the power, oh yeah, no, I caught this guy, I filmed it with my own eyes. What are you gonna do about it? Yeah, so it kind of escalates it right off the bat without escalating, and it puts you out of harm's way. I could ask them, yes.
SPEAKER_01I could ask them if they would be willing to do that, because uh, you know, I'm out of I'm out of ideas, right? And again, it's doesn't seem to be going anyway at this point. Yeah, it doesn't seem to be going away, yes. So uh yeah, yeah. That's uh that's that's my bitching and complaining for this episode. Hopefully that's all because uh Trump and uh Mr. Asshat's uh neighbor here have got me worked up pretty good. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well we'll try to spin it around. Did you uh pick anything up for boxing day?
SPEAKER_01Um I did not. I didn't even know I didn't set foot in any stores, I didn't really pay attention to what was going on um on for sales or anything like that. So nothing for me. Yeah, how about you?
SPEAKER_00Um, I did pick up a news iPad Pro.
SPEAKER_01Yes, okay. I you were mentioning had mentioned you were looking or can going to consider one. Yeah, what do you think?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it was a good uh it was a great deal. It was 600 bucks, it came with uh magic keyboard or whatever it is, and I just do I need one? No, did I want it? Yes, because it's just I don't know if you have a tablet at all, but it's just like there's certain things that I can do on it super quickly and just make it work and and stuff. Um, I'm planning a trip to Iceland this year. Have you been to Iceland, right?
SPEAKER_01Yes, we went to Iceland last last year. It's hard to believe. It's been over a year and a half already. Yeah, sure. Oh, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_00When are you going?
SPEAKER_01Uh have you got anything planned yet?
SPEAKER_00September-ish. Yeah, cool. So so September into October. So probably go, I don't know, how long did you go there? Five nights, seven nights?
SPEAKER_01We we went there, we stopped in there on the way back from London and Paris. So we only stayed three nights, and I think that's too short. Yeah. Uh if you're just going to Iceland, yeah, you need a week there. Yeah, we're gonna that would be nice for sure.
SPEAKER_00We're planning five to seven days.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So um that's kind of the plan. And when I was in Winnipeg, uh, I was like, um, I was in the hotel, I was trying to plan the day out and look at restaurants and just kind of talk to the locals and stuff, what's going on. I'm trying to watch TV to have some background noise, but everything in Winnipeg was in French. I was like, what the fuck is this? So I'm watching Big Bang Theory in French, like I'm trying to plan like shit. I'm just like, okay, this like I need to have something that I can do both on. So yeah. Um, but anyways, it was it's used. It's $600, it's in great shape. You know, the battery life is still fucking 99% for a three-year-old uh she the lady bought it and never used it. So uh I bought that. Uh so I think that's gonna help and just accentuate a little travel thing, and just for like shit, you're going around doing things. I'm sorry, did you do you have a tablet or no?
SPEAKER_01No, no, just my laptop. That's actually I was thinking about it the other day. I think this is almost seven years old now. So, but no tablet. Um did you get it from Marketplace or Yeah, it was Marketplace.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Yep. And the lady was originally selling it for 800 bucks, and I reached out to her like when I was first looking, and uh, she's like, No, I gotta buy her, I gotta buy her. And uh I'm like, okay, cool. And then I didn't do anything, I was asking other people, and people are sketchy on Marketplace, whatever it was. Yeah, and then she actually reached back, she's like, Everyone's fallen through. Do you still want this? I'm like, Yeah, I'm just looking at other options. She's like, I'll give it to you for 600 bucks. I'm like, done, I'll meet you tomorrow. She's like, perfect. So yeah, it just it actually kind of worked out in my favor. I mean, it did come with a charger, it didn't come with anything else like that. Because I mean, I have an Apple guy, so I have the chargers, but I just bought some shit off um off of Amazon there, and now I have it and I'm good to go.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. How much is a new one? Like, if you wanted to buy a new one similar this year's model, how much would it have cost?
SPEAKER_00Um I think like so they're at the M5 chip. Um, so it's uh it's expensive. It's uh it's like 1500 bucks, I think. Shit for it's for just for a tablet. Well, that I mean I got the pro model, yeah. Uh so it has like the speakers and the the higher disk like refresh rate and all the like the fun stuff, you know what I mean? Like, and because I'm using it for like a media um like consumption and just kind of everything, I can do like light video. Like I don't know if you you're not an Apple Buy, but like the M2, the M series chips are fucking wicked chips, yeah. Um, so they it should I should get another like five ten years out of it. Uh you can buy a base entry iPad for $349, you can do the iPad Air for $5.99, you can do a brand new one for a thousand bucks. Right. So you know it kind of is what it is, and they have like 11 inch and they have a 13 inch for the pros and all and all this shit, but um this is uh 11 inch, it'll do what I need to do for for whatever. And I just bought like a cheap KC, which I love. It's like uh it's like a rip-off of the Apple one for like 15 bucks off Amazon. So it's just the stuff just works.
SPEAKER_01Uh that's cool. I see you bought a charger and stuff like that. Is will will the will the iPad fit on that charger? Or do you want to for your phone? Yes.
SPEAKER_00So I got so I saw this charger that came out maybe six, eight months ago. I'm like, fuck, this is awesome. Yeah, and then I'm like, but it's too much money, and then I'm in my room, I'm trying to do shit cables like today. Cables are all wrapped up, I couldn't get shit. Fu shit's falling behind the bed. I'm like, fuck this. It was on sale, I just clicked go and bought it. So I put it, it's like a $200 charger, but it's like it's thick, it's awesome. I'm probably gonna stay Apple for a while, so I'll keep it for a while. Um, because like plugging your shit in every night, sometimes I missed it. Like it has a strong magnet, it sucks my phone in it and it's good to go. So and it charges the thing super quick. That's what blows my mind. Yeah, it charges a 25-watt certified charger, it has its own like built-in fan, it like regulates the charge, it's charged within. I mean, obviously, it charges when you go to sleep and you wake up in the morning, but yeah, it's uh it's fucking super, super cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it looks really cool. It's because you can charge your phone, you can charge your watch, you can throw your earbuds on stuff on there and everything, and yeah, it's all in one unit. So it looks pretty cool. They don't make anything similar for Android, and I think the biggest reason for that is because it's the Androids don't have the Mac, uh whatever safe safe or Meg Charger, whatever it is. Yes, yeah, exactly. So although I think cases might have it, so you could buy a case that has it and then it would work. I think that's how it goes.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, yeah, it is more of an Apple device, but it looks cool, looks great. Did so when you charge your shit at night, do you just plug it in before you go to bed beside your bedside? What do you end up doing?
SPEAKER_01I do have a wireless charger. Um it's a so I lie it flat on on this charger. So it does charge wirelessly, but um we've got a couple cables lying around if I need to bump up the charge at any time, like in the kitchen or something like that. But at nighttime it sits on that, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And you and the partner are still rocking the Samsung latest, whatever latest, greatest 27 Ultra 32 Ultra?
SPEAKER_01No, it's our phones are the uh the S23 series. Uh they are now, I I guess they would be three years old now. So we're yeah, so for us, I think that's probably this is probably the longest we've had a phone. Uh and they still work great. You know, they still the batteries are still good. That's probably the biggest thing at this point. But you know, I've read you know, and we've talked about this before, in that the the technology has kind of slowed down as far as when it comes to performance and yeah, and all that sort of stuff. So each version, each year they release a new version, um, it's like the specs are really not all that much better. Yes, you've got uh maybe a little bit more memory. Yes, the processor is a little bit faster, but at the end of the day, are we really going to notice it? Um displays are better, batteries are better, so those are cool things. Sometimes the cameras are better. Um, but you know what? I've been reading stuff right now. I think the at least the latest model is the S25 series. Um, so we are already two well, we are already yeah, two generations behind. I think the S26 is out at some point this spring, so then we'll be three generations behind. But I've been reading so far that it's really a lot of people say it's not really worth it for us being S23 owners, it's not really worth it for us to upgrade, and um especially if our phones are still working well. Uh so I'm yeah, we're gonna wait. Um, so probably won't even go with the S26 unless something happens to our phones. But I noticed one thing you shared some some stuff from the CES. What is what does CES stand for again? It's the consumer electronics show. That's right. So they have this every single year, and I watched that, and of course, they were going through some of some of the latest and greatest stuff that is not typically not available yet, but will be probably coming out this year. And I noticed that there's a Galaxy, I think they're calling it a Galaxy Z. Yeah, it's a so there are flip phones, or not flip phones, they are they are because they're the new generation of flip phones, right? The screen, the screen opens up, so you have a bigger screen. Right now, I think the current phones are only you know, you fold it once to open it, and you know, you've got a larger display. Well, this new Galaxy is you fold open once and then you fold open twice, and you've almost got a tablet in front of you. Yeah, that's super awesome. That is really cool. Um and apparently those flip phones, at least from Samsung, have uh the technology that way on that side of things has come a long way. Yeah. Um and I think uh the people I've talked to with at least the you know, the regular flips or the Y's, yeah, they work really well, apparently. So that could be something to consider at some point. Um expensive though. I I would expect those to be very expensive.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, we're hanging on to our phones for now. Yeah, see, I'm uh I'm upgrading this year. My phone is I'm three years in, so this year will be year four. Yeah. So it's time to so I'll either get the newest Apple, whatever. I think they're at 18 Pro Max. But if they do a flip phone, I'll buy that flip phone right away. Yeah. Uh it's the first gen for Apple, which is gonna run into its problems. Uh, they're usually actually really good with first gen stuff. I remember the first gen watches they had, they had a guarantee, so you pay an extra hundred bucks, and when the next generation came in, you could just swap your watch. Yeah, cool. So I hope they have something like that with the phones. I don't know if they will this year because everything's down in production, everyone's losing money, no one's spending money on weird gadgets like this, but uh something you use every day. Don't cheap it on it, man. Like, yeah, it buy what you want, see if it works, and um and move forward that way. But yeah, you're right. There's nothing the the technology really hasn't advanced so far in a phone. Um, and I just don't know if there's a market for it. They just want it to click and shoot and go. Yeah, and um, you know, like this is still keeping up. I just know my battery life's still starting to suffer because it's you know almost four years old now. So screen still works, it's still quick, it's still responsive, but it's just she's just dying. She's just dying a little bit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's always the biggest thing is the battery. I think otherwise we take care of our phones, right? You can't do you can do certain things to try and protect your battery and make it last a little bit longer. But um, yeah, once that goes, yeah, it's it's still it's cheap enough that you could probably replace the battery. But you know, hey, if you're three or four years in, just get a new phone at that point, right?
SPEAKER_00So uh the coolest thing I saw at CES was that smart lock. So uh yeah, we have uh a bunch of smart locks at home, it's fingerprint scanners, or it has a um you type in a bark arc uh combination code and opens the door. Yeah, this one is using that new technology, so like when you what I from what I understand is you connect to your home network and it just pops open and you're kind of good to go. Yeah, I think that shit's fucking cool. That is minority report fucking sweetness.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I I love stuff like that too. I would love to play around with it. Obviously, we aren't in our own home, but um I know I know the better half would be pretty leery about using stuff like that. She's not a techie person. Yeah, she'd worry about say you know, stuff breaking down, you know, computer stuff, you know, electronics when they break, you're fucked, right? We depend on them so much that even I think there are certain things that you know you should not, you know, you should not depend on certain things um just in case, right? Just in case, yeah, just in case the power goes out, just in case your network drops, just in you know, there's lots of different things that can go wrong, I guess. And in that case, you you wouldn't want to be locked out, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_00Well, there's still you still have the fail safe of the actual key to open it, though.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00So that's good. But like I know what you mean, like I have a Phillips Hue system in my room, and we lost power a couple times when I gone to bed. Yeah, and when I wake up in the morning, all the lights are on at 100 degrees. Like it felt like fucking 4th of July. Like, what the they're all 100% like what the hell's going on? Who turned on the sun? Yeah, scroll over and turn off your phone. But uh, I'm just like, what the shit? You know, it works great for you know 99% of the time, but you lose power, everything's back at a thousand percent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Good times, good times. Um yes, CES is it's my my dad used to go all the like for a while for work and stuff. He hasn't gone last 10 years, but yeah, I've never been, and then I would love to go to CS, CES, and and go in there, but I have a hard time justifying a US trip right now, and I have a hard time just spending the money to get in CS because I think it's like a thousand dollars for and the trade shows are fucking busy as fuck. Like you're out there and they're they're busy, and you're just like a lot of people, and I don't forget COVID spiking again, people. Like it's tough. People are sick as fuck, too. Like, do you know anyone who's caught the norovirus right now?
SPEAKER_01No, but yes, a lot of people are sick. Um lots of colds and flu going around for sure. I haven't heard much about COVID recently, but yeah, again, it's it's yeah, I mean it hasn't gotten away. That's the thing. So we did uh we did get our COVID vaccines again this year. I don't know if you did or not, but no, I'm I'm I've stopped. We yeah, we did. Um you know, part of it is obviously protecting ourselves, but uh you know it's also you know protecting those around us, you know, because again, you know, uh visiting my mom and uh and Teresa's family and you know all that start sort of stuff and her mom. And uh so you want to protect them too, right? Yes. Um you know so that's the whole idea.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I I agree with that. It's just um like what are they at? They're at you had the two original ones and then the two boosters. Now they're what what are they at like five or six boosters from COVID? I'm assuming so because it's the sixth year of it. So yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I'm trying to think of how many shots we've had in total. Um is it five or six for us? Because we had the two at the beginning, which which were the AstraZeneca, we had those three months apart, and then we went with the Pfizer each time after that. And I think we've had four of those now, I'm just guessing. So two the two at the beginning and then four since. That's uh I think that sounds about right anyway. So um I actually did have the flu vaccine as well, which I never used to do up until a couple years ago. I think I've been doing it now for Oh, I don't know. I've been doing it now for three or four years, I think. I uh again again for the same reasons. I I mean I never got sick, I never had the flu typically. I know I don't you know we were both sick a little bit over Christmas, a bit of a cough, and more annoying, I think, than anything, but we weren't doing too bad. But uh yeah, the the flu is not something I normally get. Again, just getting a little bit older and just want to protect myself.
SPEAKER_00So every time I've gotten a flu shot, I've gotten the sickest I've ever been in my life. Yeah, a lot of people say that. Yeah, it's a great way to drop 15 pounds, but uh damn, it didn't work for me. You're gonna try hard enough. Get two of them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Next next year. Oh I can always go back down. Hey, I haven't had the flu vaccine yet. Well, they they wouldn't know that I've had it already, but anyway. Yeah, give me another one. I need to lose some weight. Yeah. Fuck the Zimpic. Yeah, that's another story. I don't know. That that shit is so we we won't get into it now. We don't need to, but that shit's scary, man. And I'm tired of the ads too. But aside from that, that shit sounds pretty scary. I don't know if the movie is.
SPEAKER_00You got the what the Wee Govi, whatever the hell's out now. Like and those ads are fucked. You know, I went and saw a movie. What did we go and see? Fuck. Uh whatever. It was uh oh fuck, I don't even remember. See, this is how bad, but it was 30 minutes of ads before the movie started. Seriously, yeah, and I was done my popcorn during watching the ads, and then we had two-weekovi ads, like they're replaying the ads in front of the fucking movie theater. So what movie was it? So were these ads playing before the scheduled start time? Or that was at the scheduled start time they played for another 30 minutes. That's it. Scheduled start time, put ads played for 30 minutes, and then you got like the four trailers before the movie start uh before the movie stopped becoming.
SPEAKER_01See, there you go. That drive me crazy. Paying all that money, and you still gotta deal with the fucking advertisements. I just no, no thanks. I'll stay at home, watch them here.
SPEAKER_00Watch them at home. Yeah, uh, I'm just trying to figure out what the fuck I went and saw. See, uh just just just screwed. That's over Christmas as well. Oh, it was Avatar. Saw Avatar. Oh, okay, okay. So Avatar was fucking cool. But yeah, it was 30 minutes of ads before a three-hour movie. Yeah, that's nuts. Um, but what are you gonna do? Yeah. I don't know. I don't even know anymore. But uh yeah, Avatar was cool. Yeah. Um, and that would sound good and look great on your new setup at home.
SPEAKER_01It would. Yeah, I haven't even watched any of the other ones yet. Like, what is this? Is this this number three? Yeah, correct.
SPEAKER_00A number three, it's called Fire and Ash. Yeah, it's better than the second one, but it's just progressing the story more and more. So you're kind of getting into the sci-fi lore and you're doing all that freaking cool stuff.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I haven't even seen the first two.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, it'll look awesome. Get the find the special 4K rips and give that a watch for sure. Yeah. It's a it's a night. I mean, you're watching a movie and you're done. But uh it's cool. You know what I did do end up doing during the Christmas break is I went and saw uh home alone, but performed by the VSO. Oh, yeah. Yeah, so the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra gets to write the movie, they strip all the music behind it, and they what you watch the movie in real time, and the VSO plays the live music. Oh, no way. Well, that's cool. It's fucking super cool. Where was that? They do uh the was at the Orpheum. Orpheum, yeah. Okay, yep. So they do they do it right there, and they do not only like Christmas movies and stuff, but they do like Star Trek and Star Wars and the Indiana Jones, and I've seen Harry Potter there. So I saw the Harry Potter one like 10 years ago. So I haven't been there in 10 years or so when I we were decided to do it because it's one of my favorite Christmas movies, and uh yeah, we watched that. I know you found a list of uh Christmas movies, like horror Christmas movies. Oh, yeah. And the first one was Bad Santa. But that's not a horror Christmas movie. No, it's not, it's not.
SPEAKER_01I I I I know, but I you know what it could it's it's a horror because it's so bad. You know what? I I um and that's why I added it to the list. I uh I I had never seen it before. Oh, it's so good. I I um so I heard lots about it, and I heard you know how good it's supposed to be. It's it's uh it's not very good. I I mean I laughed at times. Um I didn't I I mean, hey, it was entertaining, I guess. And I now I can say I watched it, but it's I it's not as good as everybody I guess said it was.
SPEAKER_00Oh fuck, I watch it once a year. Like it's one of my that's my laugh. Oh the best of my favorite scene of the whole movie is he's playing chess with that kid and he's losing, and he fucking Are you fucking with me, kid? You're like Steve's getting all over the fucking board. Like, I would I would love to know how much of that was improv from Billy Bob Thornton because
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, he did a good job.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for sure. Oh god, I like the little uh like I love that fucking movie. Like it's it's so good.
SPEAKER_01Uh the one the I don't know, we may as well stick with that a little bit if you want, because I uh of course we watched Die Hard, that's almost a yearly thing for me. So and of course that was in that was in HDR and I think in in in Atmos as well. Uh so it looked and sounded pretty good, but um the what the one movie that I really enjoyed that I that I had not seen before, it's been on my list for a very long time. And I watch I can watch horror movies at any time, and of course I've got my lists for Halloween, I've got my lists for Christmas. I mean sh shit, there's even some Thanksgiving horror movies and stuff like that out there now, right? But anyway, uh I watched it's a Norwegian movie called Rare Exports, a Christmas Tale. And it's actually actually very good. Um yeah, check, you know, check it out, or at least, you know, you don't watch it if you don't want to, but at least you know, read up about it and stuff like that. It was yeah, it was it was pretty it was pretty good. It was well done. So and I like you know what, I like everybody watches the Hollywood stuff and and whatever all the time, but there's lots of other great foreign movies out there, and uh you know I like I like you know picking those up and I don't mind the subtitles. Um so yeah, that was that was a good Christmas horror movie. Rare rare exports at Christmas Tale. It came out in 2010.
SPEAKER_00I'll have to uh I'll have to get on to that. There is um I like watching non-Christmas movies, but Christmas movies like Die Hard. Um I I'm making the girlfriend, well, not making the girlfriend, she's willingly doing it, but she's watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so she's catching up on all the flicks. Okay, and uh I ended up watching Iron Man 3 with her, and I didn't realize that was a Christmas movie. Oh, is it? Okay, yeah, a bunch of Christmas themes in that. And I always end up watching the Batman movies around Christmas, like October, November, December. Batman Returns is technically a Christmas movie.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah. That is uh, you know, you you you check out Christmas movies to watch, and that's always on the list for sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so that's kind of cool, but um yeah, and then I didn't really I mean I watched Bad Santa, I did still haven't watched Home Alone 2, so I missed that boat. But I watched Home Alone, Bad Santa, Die Hard, and Iron Man 3 this year.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00So not too bad, not too bad.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I never did, you know, again, I've got a big long list all the time for especially for Halloween and for Christmas, and you know, I never get to half of what I hope to watch, but and uh and sometimes you watch repeats, like you said, you know, you've got your staples that you seem to watch every single year. So I did watch Violent Night again. There is a Violent Night coming Violent Night Part 2 coming out, I think this this coming Christmas, so it's still you know, 11 months away or whatever, but um so I watched that again. I watched uh there's a couple movies called Black Christmas. Actually, there are three movies called Black Christmas. The first one is a classic, it came out in 1974, so I rewatched that. Uh and then I did watch again one of the other they're not sequels, they're remakes. The uh the second one came out in 2006. So I watched that. Uh the third one, which I have seen already, anyways, I think it came out in 2017 or 2019 or something like that. Uh the second and third one aren't rated very well, but I didn't mind them. They were still okay. So uh a couple others thrown in there as well. So um always love my horror movies, and you might as well make them a theme at depending on the time of the year, right? So Oh no, I agree with that.
SPEAKER_00Um so apparent I haven't watched it yet, but um and you talked about it last time, but the it, the welcome to dare that's supposed to be fucking cool. And yeah, you finished it, I'm assuming, yes.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah. That's that was good. I I enjoyed that. Um I think it sets up the next year or the next season. I assume there is gonna going to be a season two anyway, so that was you know that was a pretty good series, yeah. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01It reminded me a lot of Stranger Things. Oh, okay. Um you know, just you know, a bunch of kids and you know, kind of a horror supernatural type setting, and um yeah, it was pretty good. Yeah, check it, check it out. Um, did you finish Stranger Things? Yes, yes, we did. I did you? I will no longer I'm not sure if you did, so we won't get into it too much here.
SPEAKER_00I got uh two more to l I got two more to watch.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And as we discussed last time, it's this the last one, the finale is two hours long, so yeah, you'll need uh an evening for that for sure.
SPEAKER_00So what was cool about it is they showed the finals, the the final Stranger Things in the theaters. Yes. And um the Rio, well not the old Rio. So the Rio about the park, and the park showed the Stranger Things finale, and uh one of the actors, Mike, showed up to it. Finn Finn Wolfhardt, is that his name? Yeah, yeah, showed up to MC it or introduce it or something like that, which is fucking super cool.
SPEAKER_01If you're a big fan, that would have been a fun experience for sure. Yeah, because because he is from Vancouver, yeah, yeah. So um, yeah, so that would have been that would have been a good time. I'm sure it was packed that place.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, every the every screening was sold out. I have a couple friends trying to do it for New Year's Eve, and um they it was sold, it was sold out the minute it went on sale.
SPEAKER_01So it's a great idea, for sure. Yeah, you know, they did things really well, they planned it well, you know, the three episodes on Christmas Day and then the New Year's Eve thing, right? You know, spend two spend two hours in a theater and kind of finish watching uh uh a series that you know you've been kind of invested in for how many years now? Yeah, and um to have one of the stars there. Uh yeah, that's a great it's a great idea.
SPEAKER_00But having saying that, so I mean, you pay for Netflix, we watch all that shit. So I mean, and now with your upgraded system and Netflix streams all in 4K, it's Doby Atmos, it's all the stuff you could ever ask for. Yeah, is it worth going to see a shit like that in the movie theater? And so it's kind of both ways because like I've had some really great theater experiences, like on like opening nights or within the first couple days, like watching Adventures Endgame in the movie theater was fucking awesome because the crowds cheering, all that stuff. Watching uh Spider-Man Far From Home with all the Spider-Man showing up was fucking awesome seeing that in a movie theater, and apparently the finale was great, so people were cheering in the finale. So can you back that up? Was it worth seeing that in the theater? Do you think? And have you ever had a great theater experience like that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I can't say I have, but then I don't go, you know, we don't go to a lot of movies, yeah. So and and again, like you said, for for that reason, you know, if you got a good system at home, um it's it's it's cheaper. In the long run, it's cheaper. Yes, again, you've got to pay for your hardware and stuff like that, but but in the long run it's cheaper. You can wash it from home in the comfort of your own home, you can pause it whenever you have to hit the washroom, whatever it is, right? So um you don't have to deal with other people. Yeah. And again, for Netflix releases, you get them at the same time. The only disadvantage, of course, is theatricals, right? You have to wait whatever it is, two months, three months for for a movie to come to the streams, uh to the streaming platforms. So um that's the only disadvantage. Uh but for us, there's enough to watch anyway, so it doesn't matter for us. Yeah. Um are there certain uh franchises or movies that you know you would I guess like to see as soon as they are released in theaters? Well, maybe, but I don't know that there's anything that I miss not seeing, I guess. Like, you know the movies we have seen in the theaters, yeah, it's been great. It's been um it's been fun, but um hey, I'm at a point where you know, like concerts, I guess, you know, I'm don't really go to many shows anymore either, so yeah. Maybe for different reasons, but hey, I'm just you know it's good to watch movie and TV at home.
SPEAKER_00Uh no, I agree. Um and there's certain I mean there's certain things. Like I last year at this time I've had I had like fucking 15 shows lined up. I only have six shows lined up this year. Like it's just also they've changed the way our holidays work at work. So it's really hard for me to get some days off now because I can't shift trade them away. So I'm being more and more limited. Like I had to plan for my 2026, like I signed all my vacation in November. Oh wow. So like and there's a lot of stuff still hasn't been announced yet. So yeah, yeah, it's been tough. But uh, what do you have on the docket? You're going to rush, right?
SPEAKER_01Yes, that's the only thing uh uh so far. Um, and that's uh you know, we talked about that. That's not till December. Uh so we're we're 11 months away. Um, nothing else. You know, I know that some other stuff has come up. You we we talked about some things that you're going to yeah. Um I never fucking read. We see we noticed Big Sugar has announced a tour, so they're they've got a Vancouver date. Um, I don't know if we're gonna go to that or not. That's at the Pearl, actually, which is not far away, but I'm surprised it wasn't at the Commodore, actually, but whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm uh that and they're doing Hemi Vision in its entirety there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So um I actually got that for a birthday gift. Oh, cool. So that's a couple weeks. So I'm uh I'm actually I love that album, man. Like yeah, oh it's it is good, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, nothing, nothing else, nothing purchased anyway. So we'll we'll see what's going on.
SPEAKER_00Kind of last minute kind of things. There's so much shit I would like to go and see, but like I know you're not a Chris Stapleton fan, but he's coming back to town, and I think that would be a cool show to see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, you shared some of his stuff before. Yeah, he's he's the blues guy, I think, right? Blues country guy, yeah. Yeah, no, I haven't listened to much more, but I know you shared this stuff and I did like it.
SPEAKER_00So I like he's one of the uh guys I do want to see. So like up he announced the show I don't fucking know, November of next year or September or something, but it's a show I can make without having to book time off. So yeah, and then uh you also have here that fuck February fest with bison and heavy trip.
SPEAKER_01That's a great lineup. That's a great lineup. Yeah, yeah. So I there's another two or three bands on top of that, I think. And uh so that's coming up the end of February. I don't have tickets, but yeah, that'd be a fun show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's there's always so many shows to go see. Yeah, just not enough time and just so much bullshit now at shows, kind of like well, and it's they're not they're not cheap.
SPEAKER_01I mean, even for that show with the Pearl for Big Big Sugar, I think tickets there were 60 bucks plus tax or something like that. So you know for a smaller show, smaller venue, it's starting to get a looks a little expensive. That's still cheap by most standards today because everything's so expensive now, right? So yeah, um, yeah. So anyway.
SPEAKER_00Well, I bought for that Foos Queens show, it was like 250.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Wow.
SPEAKER_00But I mean that's Foos and Queens and then it's at BC Place. Right. So I mean, you would pay $100 to go see Queens, you pay $100 to see Foos, so $200 plus BC Place is $50. Right. So we'll see, we'll see how that goes. Sounds good. Uh what do you spit? So we both have come up with a top 10-ish list for uh 2025. Yeah um I have, I mean, there's like so a couple Canadian guys, so Finger 11, Big Recor on there, Ed Sheeran's on there for myself. Um, White Reaper. Did I share any White Reaper?
SPEAKER_01I think you did. Um, because I should have after because when I saw your list, I actually looked for a couple videos, and I think that the one at the top of the list on YouTube was I forget the name of the song, but I think yeah, you've played it, I think. It's pretty good. It's a great song.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's I don't I don't even know what type of music pop punk, I don't fucking know, but it I enjoyed this album. Fuck this song is called Freak Show after album for the year, only slightly empty. I think this album's great. I listened to the full thing a couple times. It's uh great album. Um, I don't know if you've spun the new Tron soundtrack. Have you watched the new Tron movie yet? Haven't seen it. Nope. Yeah, you gotta get that as well. I should I should.
SPEAKER_02Fucking yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but the new Nine Snails does the music for it. Yeah, Daft Punk did the first second one, which was awesome, but this is just as cool. It fits really well. Uh Reznor and the Boys kicking some ass, taking some names. Yeah, fucking big fan of the Tron soundtrack, big fan of Nine Snails, obviously. So that was great. Another one of my top 10 to listen to Spirit Box. Fucking love Spirit Box. I know you're a big fan, yeah. Yeah, it's it's cool breakdowns. I like the chick vocals. I just I love it all. Yeah. Um yeah, great, great album if you're into that. Um there's a comment I read on Reddit. Um, the guy was gonna go see her live or the Spirit Box Live, and the mom goes, Is that the band is that the band with the lady who's pretty but screams like a demon? So yeah, yes, mom, that's the band. So that was pretty good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then another big one on the list was the new Deftones. I fucking love the new Deftones album. Spent a lot of time with this disc. Have you listened to the new Deftones album?
SPEAKER_01I have not. I still haven't. Oh fucking. The songs that you've played here, and that's about it. So it's uh it is a popular one too, because I've read a lot of not a lot, I've read some lists, and it seems like that album's on every one of them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's just like from start to finish, it's just like like the last couple of Deftones albums have been kind of hit and miss, but every song on this album just rips.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, it's uh it's definitely uh a great album to get uh to spit and to listen to it. And I'm sure it'll sound when you're still listening to music, are you playing it on your new system or are you still doing your hi-fi uh stuff?
SPEAKER_01I do I do a little of both still. Yeah, I'm I'm I'm you know, when I'm kicking around at work and stuff, especially here at home, I uh I'll just stream it to my sono speakers typically. Uh or of course I've got my vinyl on on a separate system over here. Uh but I still occasionally pull out the headphones and and listen to uh the high-res stuff, especially on headphones. Yeah, yeah, that's cool. Yeah. Fuck it. Hey, what did you have for the top tens? So I don't do I even have ten on my list. I don't think I do. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Only nine. I don't know. Only nine of the year. My top nine list, my best nine list, even though it's maybe not a best of, but it's it's it's it's nine albums that I really enjoyed, all heavy stuff from uh from 2025. Uh, some of it I've played here before, bands like Testament, uh, their album Parabellum, uh, obviously a thrash metal band from California. Everybody knows uh Testament, great stuff. Uh Paradise Lost, a doom metal band from UK. I played, I think, a song from their new album called Ascension. Good stuff. I'm a big Paradise Lost fan, they've been around for a few years. Uh, I played a song uh from Dead Guy. Uh did I mention that a lot of these bands um are new to me this year? You know, some of them are new bands, but others are new to me, and I've had to go back and listen to some other albums on their in their catalog. Great stuff though. Uh yeah, including Dead Guy. Uh actually Dead Guy is a new band, I think, but a bunch of old guys. Uh their album called Near Death Travel Services. Yeah, they're hardcore from New Jersey. Uh band called The Haunted, Heavy Metal from Sweden. Their album is Songs of Last Resort. A uh, let's see, a thrash metal band from Switzerland. Do you know of these guys? Coroner? Good stuff. I have not. Yeah, this album called Dissonance Theory is really good. Uh, some good thrash metal. This this one I can never say right. I'm probably not saying right now. It's Gale's weird? Is it word or weird? I don't know what that is.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, I looked at that and Googled it. I'm like, what? Yeah. I looked for people trying to interview them. I couldn't find any. I thought it was Grohls World.
SPEAKER_01Like, I think it's I think you pronounce it Gale's words. Gale. Gale's. Anyways, they're a black metal band from Norway. Brading the Stories is the name of the album. Pretty good stuff. Um, Igor. Did I play some Igor here? I can't remember, but uh, they are they are new to me. They've got a few albums out already. Their latest one's called Amen. They're a black metal band from France. Pretty good stuff. Uh, these uh this next one is Warbringer. I know I've played some Warbringer, a song from their album Wrath and Ruin. Pretty good stuff, Thrash Metal. And the last one on my list I brought up last week. I played their song last week. This band is new to me, but again, they are three or four albums in. This one's called The Spin. Uh Doom Metal Band from Italy. I this is great stuff. This is probably my if I had to name one of these, it would that would be probably the top of the list for me. Yeah, band called Mesa. So good stuff.
SPEAKER_00Um I know of so I I went and just fucking quickly ripped through one of these songs each. That's good stuff. Yeah. Um the the one that your first song of this week, The Woodpecker, weed 11 minutes. Weedpecker. Just like, oh good. 11 minutes. I listened to all 11 minutes. It was a full journey. Yeah. Yep. Good, good, good. And what do you think? But uh here I liked it. I thought it was great. Where is it? Hit the button. Play this for the kids.
SPEAKER_01Uh I'm lost now. Where's my uh too many windows again? Okay, we're gonna pick this up kind of a three minutes in or something because it really kicks in here really good.
SPEAKER_00Uh even the first half was good.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, this is not it is good, yeah. It is good. And uh, you know, Weedpecker is from Warsaw, Poland. Um yeah, they're from Warsaw. Um I have a couple of their albums on vinyl. Uh, so I'm very familiar with Weedpecker since their first one came out many years ago. I think it came out in 2000, I think. This is their fifth full length now. Um full length. Pretty good stuff, yeah. This is I enjoy them a lot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this um, like even the first, like I started listening to this song and it starts off kind of all like acousticky and kind of like I'm like this isn't very good.
SPEAKER_0111 minutes, keep listening.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, no, it's funny.
SPEAKER_01You're right, at 335, it kicked in. Yeah, so yeah, this song's called Fading Whispers. Yep, really good stuff. Yeah, yeah. This album's out uh February 27th. And wouldn't you know it? Heavy Psych Sound Records is releasing it. So yeah, great label. Yeah, yeah, they are for sure. Um, what else? Where am I? Let me stop that. Uh I have to stop it. Okay, there we go. There it is. There it is. Um, what else is on my list? Oh, I never saw this until this is from the Rock Hall induction last year. Obviously, that happened back in the fall time or late summer, didn't it? Yeah, it was maybe four-ish months ago. Yeah, but I'm just seeing this footage now, and and it and it's great. This is um Taylor Momsen, who is Pretty Reckless, uh the front woman for Pretty Reckless, uh doing Rusty Cage from oh well, obviously, Rusty Cage is uh Soundgarden. Soundgarden was inducted into the into the Hall of Fame. And this is great. Like, I don't know if she she sounds good, she sounds really good. That's awesome. I and I didn't know this at the time, but apparently Pretty Reckless was on tour with Soundgarden when Chris Carnell passed away. Yeah. Um but she nails this really well. I mean, she's doing her own thing, but at the same time, it's sounds it sounds awesome. Uh obviously the surviving members of the band sound sound good. And um anyway, it's a good rendition to the song. There's another song from that performance with Brandy Carlisle. Um and Catrell is playing guitar in that song. Um they do Black Hold Black Holes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. And then the other one on that performance thing is they do Fel in Black Days done by Tony, uh Cornell's daughter. Oh, okay. I'll have to add Nancy Wilson from Heart.
SPEAKER_01It's fucking powerful. Yeah, I could give that a I'll check that out. Anyways, uh this was just released a couple days ago, all this footage, wasn't it? All of the official footage, like I'm sure I'm sure it's been out there somewhere, but uh, oh yeah, I watched it bootlegged too. Yeah, this is this is good quality footage here from the rock haul. So um so pretty good. As much as I like to trash the rock haul at times, it's uh it's a good performance. Sometimes they get some stuff right. Yeah. For sure. Uh the last song I'm gonna share, because I only have three anyways, is uh you know, I'm I'm a big Judas Priest fan. You know that. I yeah, I've been and I've and I've I listen to Priest all the time. In fact, I would say since I saw that show, um that was uh originally composed Vegas. Well, it's been over a year already. And uh when it was presented to us, I've been listening to Priest so much like all of their albums from you know from way back in 1974 and Rock and Roller to their latest one, you know, a couple years ago. It's just a priest uh trip. It's just I'm such a fan. And you know, pro definitely one of my favorite bands. But I came across some different performances of this song uh called Diamonds and Rust. It's a of course a Joan Baez song, and they covered it, obviously they made it a metal tune. They're a metal tune way back in I don't know which album it came out on originally. But there's some acoustic versions of this track, and just just to just to watch Helford and to listen to his voice, it's amazing. He's just got I mean I I think we all have known how good he is over the years, and he still sounds great. Oh yeah, this performance is probably 20 years old. I don't know when it came out actually, but but it just it's just amazing. His voice is so good. I just one of my favorite vocals. Absolutely. Yep. So check out this entire track if you haven't. It's just it's it's haunting to me. It's haunting to just focus on his voice. So cool.
SPEAKER_00And uh how old is Rob? He's 74.
SPEAKER_01Yes, he is, and he's they're still going, they've got still their yeah, their European tour, whatever the new tour is called. That's uh going through a bunch of countries this summer. Um they've been talking about a new album all along. Like they're not slowing up, they're not looking to call it quits. Yeah, that's awesome. Uh yeah, it's great. So I keep I keep bugging the better half. Well, if we're going on a vacation, why don't we go see Judas Priest over there somewhere? Sabirab. There's another there's an awesome theater in Germany. I forget it's a small town, I forget the name of it, outside uh west of Frankfurt. Uh it looks like a really cool open-air amphitheater that was built way back in the 30s. It just looks amazing, and I bet you that would be an awesome place to see a show. Oh fuck. So uh anyway. It probably won't happen, but whatever.
SPEAKER_00Just put the bug in your ear. It may happen. Yeah. Um I'd like to see him again, though.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. I'd like to see him again. Um you never know when these guys are gonna go, and again, one of my favorite bands, so while he's still looking and sounding great, so I'm still kind of kicking myself in the ass for not seeing that final Sabbath show. I know, I know, because there's still some footage that keeps trickling around of you know, different different different cuts, I guess, of different interviews and and stuff like that from that show from that day, and it's just like it's amazing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What a what a day to be, what a day to miss, yes, for sure. Alright. Um, well, I have to reopen my windows because I lost everything, so that's fucking great. But um KMFDM. These guys have been around fucking forever. Yes. But this is the first one of the first songs with like the full female vocals on the front. Um KMFDM Industrial, been around since the 90s. Um and then they went, they broke up and then did MDFMK, and then they were around with the pig face and then the industrial unit with 90 nails and ministry and stuff. But yeah, yeah, I've always loved KMFDM, and I think the song fucking rips. But uh, you again are you an industrial guy first? Do you like the Ministry of the Nails?
SPEAKER_01KMFDM? Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I I I'm I'm a big fan. Um I can't say that I've listened to all of their albums because they've been around for quite a while. They've got a lot of music out there. Yeah, for sure. But this song is great. Is it is it is it not Sasha? Sasha has kind of been with the band, he's kind of the main guy, I think, for for from the beginning. Is that not him on vocals?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I it's hard to tell. I was wondering uh I was wondering as well, is it him singing or is it the is it a guest female vocalist, or like who is it? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00These are these are all good questions. Um I thought so. And the and the and the credits of the song, Sasha is like she is credited, so okay. Um well yeah, anyways, good stuff, good stuff.
SPEAKER_01Came after it's a great song. Yeah, I didn't even know that this was out. I didn't know that they were still together. It's one of those bands that just keeps going as well, and uh yeah, really cool.
SPEAKER_00Kind of like Megadeth. You were ending it. Megadave is doing the last run. Uh he's actually come out and said he's not gonna do like uh a fan service show. They're just gonna keep this line up, no past members coming through to do anything. But uh this song kind of rips. Uh last what what was last week's or last month's song that you or last episode song, sorry. Uh what was that punk rock song they almost released?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh it was it it was almost like fuck off or fuck you, but it wasn't called fuck you. I I forget the name of it though. Uh was it was it tipping point? No, it wasn't that one. Well, I forget now. Maybe it was tipping point.
SPEAKER_00I don't fucking remember. Anyways, uh but yeah. Anyways, Megadeth, doing Megadeth thing, bunch of sweet guitar solos. This is ripping, kind of a cool video.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um but a decent song from the boys in Megadeth.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, probably a better song than what I shared. I mean, I didn't mind the song that I that I did play last time, but this one is this one's better for sure. So and when does that album come out? Or is it's not out right now, is it? No, it's not.
SPEAKER_00It comes out uh either in February or the end of the month. Okay. Um, so we'll see. And they're the big thing about this disc is they're covering Ride the Lightning.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it'd be interesting to see what that sounds like for sure. So I'm uh I'm very interested to see what that and I mean Megadeth are coming to town lap for presumably their last show and tour ever, but they're playing Abbots for and I've seen Megadeth like fucking 20 times.
SPEAKER_01So I saw that, and nothing against the people out there, and um it's I I just don't get it. I don't know why they are doing shows out there, so many. I really don't. It's I don't know. Maybe it's it's just me, and maybe not everybody is in a position like me where it's hey, it's way out way the fuck out there, and there's no I'm not gonna go. There's uh there's just no way I'm gonna go out there for a show. I will go to a fucking show two blocks away, so why would I fucking go out there to regardless of who it is?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's crazy. Uh and I I've been out there for sure. Last time I saw Megadeth was Gigantor in fucking oh no, there's been two times since. So I saw Gigantor and Abbotsford, and then I they came back again, and I went and saw that, and then I'm not going out there again because it's it's far as fuck, and it's a school night, and I fucking just can't get it off. So if I could get the day off and got a cheap ticket or a free ticket, I'd go, but none of that stuff is happening, so uh sorry, Megadave. Uh play the Commodore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no kidding.
SPEAKER_00Uh it'd be it'd be a good show. There, you know, no question. But uh but you know what? They don't change the set list. They do one new song and then it's the same set list they've been playing for fucking 15 years.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's kind of shitty too.
SPEAKER_00So it's kind of shitty. So I'm just like, okay, well, I I've seen it. Like if they've if they've changed it or can take different songs every night, it'd be cool to watch. But because they don't, I mean, yes, it's Mega Def, and Anthrax, I think, are opening the gig. So I mean that'd be cool. Yeah. But I saw Anthrax last early last year, they opened for Black Label or Black Label opened for them or something like that. But um, yeah, fuck it. I'm uh I'm setting that one up. Unfortunately.
SPEAKER_01Well, you got a big and you got a big catalog, you got lots of songs to play from, and if you're sticking to the same dozen songs every single fucking night, uh even if it is your last well, even even more reason to do it because it's your last tour, why not mix it up a little bit? You know, each each night or yeah, something. Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00We can't solve all the problems. We try, but we can't. And the last one new to me, anyways, a band from Germany called Dust Bolt. Yeah. This is yeah, awesome. I love this. Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's good stuff. Uh German German metal ripping it.
SPEAKER_01Um I checked out more of that as soon as I heard this. Uh because I want more for sure. It's really good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, great stuff. Old school thrash. Sounds like Metallica, old school stuff. Uh, great, great, again, great production. Just there you go. Adam's stamp of approval. Stamp of approval. But it's like from the 80s, man. Like, this is what it was. Yeah. Talk about the old school Megadeth, old school Slayer. You know, even priests talked about the priest stuff. It was uh fucking yeah, good shit, man. Good stuff. You know what I do want to talk about? I sent you a link that was kind of not really there, but friend of the show, Todd Curns, his Kiss Cover Project. Did you check this shit out? I did, I did. He's cool. Isn't that cool?
SPEAKER_01The handsome devils.
SPEAKER_00The handsome devils. Now, where the hell is that one?
SPEAKER_01Yes, I I I didn't watch the whole thing, of course, because it's a full concert from Vegas, but that's a pretty cool set list, and the songs sound great. I I didn't know at first that it was him. Uh well, I found out pretty quick that it was him, but but I mean I I didn't know looking at the name of the band that he was doing something like this. So I know he's involved in a lot of different things. He lives in Vegas, he plays and he plays all the time. Um some different things. Uh, but yeah, it's really good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I just I was just blown away. Like the set, like I'm like the biggest KISS guy on the road, like we all know the hits, but like exciter, fucking the oath, like keep it coming. That's the thing.
SPEAKER_01Young and wasted. Like that's the thing. It's a bunch of stuff that you you know KISS would not normally play at one of their shown shows, right? So yeah, so that was pretty good. And KISS, like you listen to this shit.
SPEAKER_00Kiss rocked, you know, like they had some good stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, this I thought this was I thought this was fucking super cool, and the video is super cool. We'll post it at uh the old men.ca, but yeah, check it out if you can. For sure. Um yeah, it's good stuff, good stuff. Good stuff. Uh we kind of did it backwards. We did uh I don't know. We did uh movies and then music. I don't know how that happened, but whatever. It's just uh natural flow, natural full. Yeah. And uh I uh fuck. You know, it's just the world is a weird place, so just you know, take care of yourselves, okay? It's it's it's kind of fucky out there right now. So stay safe, you know.
SPEAKER_01That's all we can ask for. Yep. Well, I don't know how much you want to time you have and how much you want to talk about some TV, anyways. Um you see Yeah, what you want? You only watch Stranger Things. Okay. Um we won't talk about that much more. I mentioned Slow Horses last time, and because we had just started on that, I think, but we powered through five seasons of that real quick. And it was it was really good. You have to you have to watch it. Slow Horses, Gary Ollman, uh five seasons. There will be at least a sixth season, if not more, I think, uh already in the works. Um just a really good uh UK spy espionage. I can't even say it. Espionage, yeah. That's right. Um yeah, it's just really good. Yeah, it's it's it was a lot of fun to watch. So uh so we finished up that. Uh a couple other things. Mayor of Kingstown, I've spoken about that quite a bit. Uh season four just wrapped up. We watched that. Um that's really good. It's one of the Taylor Sheridan many, many projects that he's working on. Probably our favorite, though. There's a couple that kind of not so good. This season of uh Landman is kind of really shitty. Uh but Mayor of Kingstown is really good. Uh Jeremy Renner, Hugh Dylan, a bunch of other people. Uh it has been renewed for a fifth and final season, so that's gonna be great. Which is awesome for sure. Um the one big one that I or I wanted to add was the night manager. You know, I remember I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that back in the first season in 2016, and I thought it was done, and I'd forgotten all about it. And here I am looking looking, you know, at what I've got, you know, to watch and looking at news and stuff like that. And I'm going, the night manager sounds really familiar. Season two just started. Oh yeah, I remember watching that, but I didn't know there was a season two coming up. I again I thought it was over. Anyway, anyway, really good. Uh Tom Hiddlestadt. Is that his name? Uh Hiddleston. Yes, yeah. So he's the he's the guy. Uh Hugh Laurie was in the first season. I don't know if he's in season two. I think he got spoiler, I think he got killed in the first season. Damn it! Anyway, yeah, sorry about that. But but anyways, uh it was I remember it being really good. So what we're doing is we're re- revisiting that first season before before moving to season two. I think season two is now three episodes in. So um yeah, just something else we're we're what we're watching. So always some new good stuff to add to the list and confuse us even more about what we shouldn't should and shouldn't watch.
SPEAKER_00I am so fucking behind on TV. I also want to watch Tulsa King too. Oh yes alone. Yeah, it's supposed to be good. Um I am behind on life. It's just I don't even know what I'm doing anymore.
SPEAKER_01Tulsa King is another Taylor Sheridan series, right? Yeah, so I think so. He's doing so much. Um yeah, I don't know. Some of his stuff is not so good, some of it is really good. So of course he did all the yellowstone and or yellow, yellow, yellow, what was it? Yellow yellow dog? No. No, yellow, you're thinking you got beer. You got you're thinking beer on the brain here.
SPEAKER_00You know, I do enjoy a good cocktail every once in a while. No, what is uh uh yellow knife? No, yellow yellow dog? Yellow what the fuck? Yellow yellowstone.
SPEAKER_01Where is it yellowstone?
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah. There's also yellow jackets.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, that's the one with uh Monica no Melanie Melanie is somebody. What's the one? You know who she is. I'm throwing about uh asking questions that we both don't uh don't know answers to here. Yeah, it's Melanie's Melanie Lewinsky, not Melanie Lewinsky, Monica Lewinsky, Melanie, no, it's Melanie. It does start with Lady Linsky.
SPEAKER_00Uh well, between you know, we were we were having a good show. We kind of went off the rails. I still can't, this is the first time in six years that my mic has physically come uncoupled. Like I didn't even know how that fucking happened, but here we are. Here we are. So uh editing this in post is gonna be a good time. Something new all the time to make things interesting.
