Alright, let's see how many fucking times I uh screw this up. You ready? Sure. Ready to still ever be.
SPEAKER_00You'd probably have a better time picking your nose, but this is how you're choosing to spend your time listening to these guys. Well, at least they both love heavy metal. Here are the old men, Adam and Steven.
SPEAKER_01Yes, welcome out to it. This is the old men He Yellow Clouds podcast when we get together to talk about the things that matter to us. It is episode number 157. As we recorded it is, November 16th, 2025. It is approximately 11 a.m. and we are podcasting live out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
SPEAKER_02Hello. We honor and acknowledge that we join you today from the traditional uh uh ancestral and unceded shared territory of the Musquium, Squamish, and Sleigh with Tooth Nations.
SPEAKER_01You know it. Wow, that actually felt pretty good. We haven't done that in a little while. Uh before we get into some things, uh my name is Adam, and that guy you just heard is Stephen. Hello, Steven. Hi Adam. Long time. It's been a hot minute, but uh before we get into the things, you can support us by hitting our website, oldman who yellow at cells. I screwed up. There we go. At the very end, at the very end, oldmanhooyell at clouds.com and subscribe into our podcast. And if you want to be extra, extra cool, head over and buy us a coffee. Have we got any coffees during our absence? Absolutely not, man.
SPEAKER_02Nobody likes this. Everybody forgot about us already. Trending up, trending up, trending up. That's all we can do. That's that's the only way we can go.
SPEAKER_01Maybe with this new website change we're kind of working on, it might be easier for them to find us.
SPEAKER_02Maybe. Um yeah, yeah. A little bit of a little bit of an update coming. I I guess I don't have much news to report here myself on some of the stuff I'm working on, but but uh a new domain. We're we're still called the old men who yell at clouds, because that's what we do. Um and that's who we are. And um yes, a new domain, maybe a new website as I'm as I'm migrating stuff. Maybe maybe things will have a little bit of a different look, too. Who knows where where it goes? It depends on time, right? It all depends on time. It's all depends on time. And lately we've got we've had no time. I hope it's yellow. You know, I hope it's yellow. Is that a special request? Okay. I'll I'll see what I can do. Like I like I like a light yellow, you know? Light yellow.
SPEAKER_01A piss, not a not a darker piss yellow, is it? You know what I was thinking about because I haven't talked to you in fucking three months. Did you do your um your 31 days of horror this year? I did.
SPEAKER_02I I really actually did. And and uh I actually just shared the link uh today, or I posted, I posted it today. It's in my it's in my my prep there. Um so I did. I I had a hard time you know focusing. There's so much going on in life, and uh of course, of course, baseball, lots of baseball uh watching over the past few months. Oh yes. We could get into that later. I don't know. Uh depends on whether or not it's I mean the blue jay fan and if you've stopped crying and whining and and stuff, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh fuck. Okay, I went to a Halloween party on the day that the game seven was happening, and uh it was on the background, whatever it is, and the blue jays lost. We all know this, no spoilers here. And then some people were supposed to show up and they showed up like literally crying. I'm like, you fucking pussy! It was it was who cares? Oh god. I mean, it was good, it was good, it was a good run. Um, you know, the blue jays did the blue jay things, but I'm just uh I just I'm a bandwagon jumper. What did as a person who watches baseball, what did how was it? Was it still was the series stacked? What happened to that?
SPEAKER_02So um yeah, I'm I mean, I've I'm a big Los Angeles Dodgers fan, so I've admitted that before. So everybody knows who I was cheering for. And uh as you can assume, I was really happy with the outcome. Um now uh I there's I mean there's lots lots we can talk about here, right? I mean a lot of people might think that I didn't cheer for the Blue Jays because well, they might think I'm not a real Canadian, I guess, because all of Canada really jumped on board. And it was really cool to see it. Honestly, it was. It was nice to to see everybody come together and uh cheer for Canada's only major league baseball team. Um you know, but I did I don't know. At the same time, I I just I mean I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it just for that reason. I don't even in hockey, I don't cheer for a Canadian team just because they are the only Canadian team in the Stanley Cup final, like the last couple of years with the Oilers, right? I'm not gonna cheer for Edmonton just because they're the only team. So I'm not gonna do it for baseball, especially when their Toronto was playing my favorite team. Um and that shouldn't be a problem, right? I mean, I I try and I I when it comes to sports, I I try and separate sports from politics. And and you know, people are saying, well, you know, you've you've got to cheer for Canada, you've got to cheer for Toronto, because we're against the United States and because of Trump and everything he's doing and all that bullshit, bullshit. And yes, I'm all on board with that other stuff. I do my part and I do you know, I I I I I've basically boycotted America as much as I can, anyways. Yeah. And um I just try and separate sport, right? So, you know, so I I kind of had a hard time with that if I told somebody I was a Dodgers fan or I wanted them to win, and you know, people would come back with some sort of response, right? Because of it. So um and and and you know what? I'll I'll let I'll tell you this too. I because the Blue Jays are owned by Rodgers, they are. Oh yeah, yeah. They are they're owned by Rodgers, and you know what, uh, as everybody knows from the show, I fucking hate Rogers. I can't stand that organization. So hey, there's another there's another reason why I don't want to cheer for the Blue Jays, right? And that may sound silly, but but you know, there's you know, people say, oh, well the Dodgers are rooting baseball because they go over this, they spend so much fucking money on their salaries of the players and stuff like that, and it's way above most other teams in in Major League Baseball. And yeah, that's true, but the Blue Jays are fifth in overall salary. They are still far behind the Dodgers and the Yankees, they are the two richest teams when it comes to player salaries, and they get penalized for it because there's a luxury tax that they have to pay, but hey, they're willing to do it, they're willing to win. Rogers has tons of money, they could go out and do the same thing too if they wanted to, right? So I think that's just a lame excuse. Um but I but I will say this about the game itself. That was probably the best World Series I've ever watched. It was it was such all seven games were just amazing. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I could not sit still. Um I didn't know where things were gonna go. I didn't know which way, I didn't know what was gonna happen. I mean nobody nobody does, of course, but there were times where I was basically giving up. I I felt that Toronto was gonna win this. And even in game seven, I think it was probably you know, we're into the seventh inning or something like that already. I think the I think the the Blue Jays were still up, and then that solo home run, I think it was the top of the seventh inning that may have tied it at the time. Yeah, and it's like holy shit, that we've got a chance here. We could have broken the back of the blue jays, and um, you know, but still, you know, it went to extra innings, and then it took another solo home run by the Dodgers to finally to finally end it. But holy shit, it was such an amazing series, it really was. It was it was just despite the outcome, um, and despite my team winning, it was I can still say it was the best world series I've ever watched. It was great. And and you know, I feel bad for some of the players, you know, especially Vladimir Guerrero, uh junior, Vlad Jr. Um, he he is such a great player. I know he really wanted to win. Um he is a Canadian-born player. He's um, you know, he was born in Montreal because his dad played for the expos way back when. And um, you know, he was you could see the pain, you know, when they when the camera went over to him and you could see how gutted he was. And then you know what? I mean that's part of sport, but but but hey, that's you know, you kind of feel bad when you see that, right? There can only be one winner, unfortunately, and that's just the way it goes. But yeah, what a series. I I just loved watching that. It was a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_01I'm uh I'm glad one of us enjoyed it. Well, no, it's cool just to like to see what's going on. And yeah, you know, Canada's team besides the Rogers bullshit, it it's still it's still cool, and it they deserve to be there. Like I remember just like because I've only I mean I once saw uh a Blue Jays game when I was in Toronto. Yeah, that would have been cool. And it was it was awesome, it was a it was a good time, and then obviously we've done a couple uh Mariners games, so to watch those teams go neck and neck was pretty cool.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01Um hold on just one second. Oh shit. Sorry about that. The uh we I'll get into it after, but uh we're talking about uh um the Seattle or Seattle and blue and Seattle and uh the Blue Jays. So I've watched both teams now and it was always a fun environment in there. And I like I guess we vote or root for the Seattle Mariners because they're the closest team to us. So it's just kind of like we root for the Seahawks. Are you a Seahawks fan at all? Do you even like football?
SPEAKER_02No, I'm I'm not a big I lost interest in the NFL quite a number of years ago. Uh I still follow it mainly because I'm in a fantasy pool now. Uh so it kind of keeps me uh I wouldn't say interested in the game, but so I follow it in that respect. So I follow games, um, I follow the players. Obviously, I have to learn the players or at least as best I can. This is my second year in this fantasy league right now, and I'm doing, I don't know, I I I do well at fantasy sport because well, I I I just do my research, right? So I yeah, I I'm certainly no expert when it comes to knowing about the NFL, but uh, you know, I I for fantasy football I seem to do okay. Um but yeah, but yeah, back to the Blue Jays. I mean they finished last. I mean, uh I don't know. I don't were they last in the American League last year? I don't know. They were at the they were in the cellar though, certainly in the in the division, they they were last. And to see them come back like they did this year was quite an accomplishment, for sure. Yeah. I mean, yes, the ultimate goal is to win the world series, but they really shouldn't be too disappointed as to how far they came in just one season, right? From basically last to last to going to the world series. And um not many teams can do that. I mean, not many teams can make it to the world series, but especially after the shitty season they had the year before. Exactly, yeah. So, anyways, anyways, lots lots of fun. Big fan. I watched uh I watched uh obviously a lot of baseball throughout the playoffs and um and not just my team. I've I followed all the all the teams, all the games and stuff like that, and uh it was pretty good baseball overall. And again, that it was capped off by that amazing World Series, so it was just so fun to watch.
SPEAKER_01And uh since we last chat, hockey's up in full swing. Are you still cheering for the Bruins?
SPEAKER_02Oh, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, for sure. I'm I mean that's my team. And and everybody wrote them off again this year, and and rightfully so. They've lost some some talent. You know, they've taken a step back, they missed the playoffs last year for the first time in several years. Um, in fact, they finished near the bottom of the league. I think I forget what fin what position they finished at, but you know, last year they definitely didn't have a good team, and I think people were expecting the same this year. But uh, you know, I look at the standings today, and they're in first place in their division. Um they started well, then they had a six-game losing streak or something, and then they had another like a winning seven of eight or something like that. They've been playing pretty good. Um so so yeah, they're doing well. If you look at the standings across the entire league, though, there are the there's so much parity. All the teams are really tight. I think out of 32 teams, I think I looked, only six of them are below 500. So all the teams except for six have a winning record or at least a 500 or better record, right? Oh wow. I mean, we're about a quarter way through the season already, and that's it just goes to show you how much parity there is. You don't know there's some surprises too. I mean, there's some there's some teams that are doing really shitty. Some teams that you expect to be good uh that are not good, and some teams that you expect to be shitty are up near the top of the standings right now. And and again, only quarter way through, lots can happen yet, but but I mean uh there's some surprises so far, and it's so it's nice, it's kind of nice to watch.
SPEAKER_01So and who the fuck are the Utah Mammoth? I'm like, yeah, yeah, I was just like I was watching some highlights, whatever it is, because that's usually just what I watch, and I'm I'm you know, I'm on the shitter, on the TikTok, whatever the fuck it is. And uh, Utah Mammoth! I'm like, what the when did when did this is this a brand new team that launched this year? Like, where is it? Like, I missed that news completely. I mean, um sports is highly up on my news list, as you can tell.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think I think it was last year when Phoenix basically they ran out of options in Phoenix, yeah. And so that team moved to Salt Lake City. Gotcha. And uh so and I think last year they were just called the Utah Hockey Club, and they had I think they had a lottery or some sort of uh not a pool, but they had some sort of uh you know, name name our team, and uh that's what it was. They ended up being called the uh the Utah Mammoth. And yeah, they are I mean they've been playing decent over the years, and they've got some nice young kids there coming up in their system, and they're they're playing really well. But I mean, like nobody expected them to do as well as they are. I mean, right now they're out of a playoff spot, but that's just because it's so the the standings uh are so tight and the parody is so so uh close. I mean, I'm looking at the the the standings right now, and they are the record is 10, 7, and 1. And yeah, they said they sit out of a playoff spot, but but again, they're they're they're right in there. I mean they could be I mean they're within three or four points of first place in their division, right? So that's how close things are right now. So but yeah, um Pittsburgh has had a shitty team, but Crosby's playing really well. They're up, uh they're doing good. Um who else is doing good? I mean the typical teams are there, Colorado's up there, uh LA Kings are up there, the who else? Uh New Jersey, Devils, Carolina is up there. Those teams, you know, everybody expected that, but you look at teams like Anaheim, the Anaheim Ducks, like holy fuck, Seattle is even doing fairly well. Um Chicago is doing really well. Like, those are all teams that were right at the bottom last year. And um, so yeah, they've started really pretty good. So it's yeah, it's fun to watch as well. You again with hockey, especially, you just don't know what's gonna happen from from game to game. So it's cool. Good time of year. And there you go. I lost you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sorry, it was uh that was my bad. Um I so I just fill you in. So uh we had a house fire. Um it happened about three weeks ago. So I will should have sent you some photos earlier. But what happened was was I was here on a Sunday just get ready for work, and uh my our wash your washing machine dryer fucking shit to bed. So we bought a new washing machine dryer, and um when we got them installed, the installers were like, well, you should probably end up getting a bigger line put into the washer because it's newer and can handle more like more of a water load. So I parents are like, okay, yeah, let's do that. So they a guy was in here taking care of that, and uh as he was doing that, the uh he ripped apart the dripwalk to get to the copper hosing in the in the wall, and he just took his regular blowtorch, and uh, the minute he touched the blowtorch, it ignited everything inside the wall. So, like there I was I don't know what it was in there was like a asbestos or whatever the fuck it was. Uh bunch of um insulation. Yeah, so that insulation was highly flammable. It caught the whole so I'm sitting in my room, I'm just watching Netflix or something, and my I hear the all this commotion downstairs, my parents start yelling, and they're like, I'm like, what the fuck is that? I go downstairs and it's like we have a fire. I'm like, we don't know. And my parents are they're panicking and they're trying to dial 911, but my dad's connected, they're like, you know, like Google fucking home. My mom doesn't know where her phone is. I'm like, what the f so I start running, so I flip from zero to a hundred and I start ripping around to find our fire extinguisher, which is moved conveniently three times in our house. So I finally found it and I start running downstairs. But what I didn't know is that the mechan or the plant plumber, he actually ripped the copper hosing out to try to direct water into the wall so it would put the fire out. Ah so when I ran downstairs, it was all flooded because all the water was ever fucking where. So, anyways, I ran down and I had him the fire extinguisher and I watched him put it out and I could see the flames coming through the wall. And I'm like, this isn't gonna be good enough. So I opened the window and I ran back outside to grab the hose and threw it into the like threw it into the laundry room and he just started spraying the hose in the wall.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So shit. And then so at the time they called 911. I ended up calling 911 because I don't know if they called it whatever it was while I was fucking running around and doing all that stuff. But yeah, here's some of the uh I'll send you some of the photos. You can post these too because it's fucking it is what it is. So, anyways, the uh the fire department ended up showing up, and there was like 40 of them, and they had the heat guns, and they were doing like checking the walls and scans and stuff. Yep. Yep, so they did all that stuff. Yeah, um, yeah, it was uh it was pretty interesting. So uh just your photos with that one, and then so now um we're just getting it all repaired. So there's a drywalk or drywalk, a drywall guy coming, there's a mutter coming, they're sanding it, they're painting it down, whatever it is. But the worst part is it's just like it smells like fire, like there's just a bunch of uh you know, it just smells weird in the house. So it's kind of an eerie feeling. I don't know if you've ever had a house fire before, but shit's fucked. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, it's scary because and it sounds like the way things started, it could have gotten so much worse so quickly. And uh, you know, who knows where it's going to spread, I guess, uh inside the wall. And yeah, I guess that's why they wanted to check for any hot spots and stuff like that. And yeah, so it sounds like it was fairly well contained then, I guess, despite the damage maybe from smoke and water. But uh sounds like things were lucky. Yeah, that's pretty shitty. Oh, I see how they're redoing it and stuff now, though. But so even like three weeks later, you could still smell smoke in your place.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's just like it's not as bad as it was, obviously, but you can still like there's a little tinge of it. And there's like like they came in to do the repair work with uh you know insurance and stuff, and they're like ripping the they're like they scraped off all the shit, replaced some of the two by fours that were shit. Yeah, and um you know they they put this like coat on it, which really sealed up all the stuff. Like obviously it's not the first time that happened, so uh, or to anyone before, but it's uh yeah, they they really fix it up pretty quickly. So now it's I don't know if it's like um like a subliminal smell, but it's yeah, it's all it's all sorts of fucked. Yeah, but yeah, that was scary. And then like my dad and I were talking, he's just like, Well, you handed that pretty well. I'm like, well, that's my job. Like, I work well in high stress situations, um, because we're always going, like we go from zero to a hundred in point two seconds, we're like my job, like that's part of the gig. So like I just fucking acted and went. And I'm sure you go do the same way being an ex-pray medic and stuff, you know, like it just kind of rips around and just kind of go. You don't have time to think, you just gotta get it done.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Certainly that's the way I used to be, anyways. I mean, I don't know if I came across a scenario or a situation like that again, I don't know how I would react. It's I'm getting old and it's been a a long time. And uh who knows. But but yeah, some of it's uh like you said, uh it's just instinct after a while. If you if you if that's the way you're trained to be, um you know, then it will come to you quick as to what you need to do, even if you know you know it's all about the basics when it comes to stuff like that, right? You know, as far as you know like the The plumber, you know, broke the hose to get some water go flowing in there. And you immediately checked out the fire extinguisher and then grabbed the hose. And you know, stuff like that comes quickly. And and you need somebody like that. Otherwise, again, things can turn real bad real quick.
SPEAKER_01So Yeah, my dad was like, fuck, if you weren't here, the house would have burned down. Like he's just like, he's like, I was trying to figure this out and do shit like this. And I was like, yeah, fuck. Like, thank God, because I don't know. Obviously, that's not a good thing. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Wow. Happy it's uh happy it has a happy ending.
SPEAKER_02It's shitty it happened, but it uh sounds like everything's uh relatively okay and nobody was hurt, obviously. That's the main thing. So yeah, yeah, right. There's one of the reasons why we've been delayed.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah. Yeah, yeah. Many reasons. But lots of reasons, lots of reasons, lots of stuff going on. Lots lots busy, busy, busy. Yeah, for sure. Uh uh. But you actually so I read about this maybe a couple weeks ago, and yeah, it's in your prep, and it's about Google's blocking the side loading of uh unverified Android apps, yeah. So I just love how you put Android is becoming the new iOS, and I started laughing because yeah, Apple's been doing that for years. Yeah, uh they've the developers have found some sneaky ways around it, but like the majority of it, you're you're you're fucked, you can't do it. Um but does this affect your ecosystem at all, or you just kind of roll in? How does it affect you?
SPEAKER_02Well, well, it does, it does a little bit because there are there is a there I do sideload apps, uh so I do download apps outside of the Play Store and install them. Um and because some of them are not in uh in the Play Store themselves. Uh other times you do it uh sometimes you do it for apps that may be in the Play Store, but you do it so that you don't have to use Google, so that Google doesn't know what you're doing, right? It's all about some at least some of it is is about avoiding Google and so they don't know what you're doing, what apps you're using, and all that sort of stuff, because really it is none of their business. And and yes, I I get that there are millions and billions of apps out there, and some of them are malicious, right? So the whole idea is for them it's a security thing in their minds. Um but at the end of the day, this is my phone. Let me do what the fuck I want to do with it, right? And if it's if I get a virus or if I get something, if something happens to my phone and my data on my phone, it's my problem. You have you have to know what you're doing, right? And yes, it's you have to take responsibility for that. But but it's my shit. I want to do with my phone what I choose to do, and you should not have any control over that. You should not be able to spy on me, you should not be able to see what I'm doing. Uh, and that's the whole problem that people have with this. And that I mean, a lot of people choose Android because of the freedoms and because it's a little bit more customizable. Yes, and so that's why we're all pissed off that hey, if I wanted an iPhone, I'd get an iPhone. And I'm not trying to dish Apple or iPhones, and no, I don't like them, but um but yeah, I don't I don't want my devices to start going in that direction, right? And yeah, because because yes, people say uh Apple phones are are more secure and all that sort of stuff. Well yes, they are just because they don't allow side loading of apps like Android does, but but at the same time, Apple is collecting all your shit and selling it too. I mean they're they're they're no different than any other of these major tech companies, Apple, uh, Google, Facebook, uh, Amazon. Like all of them just uh suck because of you know, we're forced to use their their apps or their operating systems or whatever it may be, and um all they do is spy on us. And I mean that just shouldn't be allowed. And we shouldn't we shouldn't be allowing these companies to to do some of the things they do. So anyways, that's why there's a big uproar now. Uh I don't like it. I don't know what I'm gonna do. At this uh as you said though, there's always ways around things, right? So yeah. So we'll have to see what happens over the next couple months. Because I think this is is this coming in early 2026? I can't I can't remember. Uh I mean at some point in in in the next year it's gonna happen, but you know, I guess it gives time for some of the other developers to try and make a workaround here, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that you don't have to upgrade like to the latest IO orb software. I will say iOS, but is it jellyfish, jelly, what what are they on right now?
SPEAKER_02Oh, I don't even know what we're they don't even use the names anymore. They yeah, I don't know. Because they were doing I think they were all food or foods and stuff like that, like gingerbread, uh uh geez, I don't know. I can't even remember some of the other names. Ice cream sandwich was what was the next one. Like I don't know. They're going by letters of the alphabet and uh and assigning a food that starts with that letter, I guess, and as the next version or the next release. So anyway, I don't know where we're at now. They don't use those foods anymore to describe the what version of the operating system they're on.
SPEAKER_01So anyway. But the I the easiest thing to do was not upgrade operating systems until they because they it won't come into effect until the new operating system comes in, correct?
SPEAKER_02I believe so, yes. Although, yeah, I don't know. Again, with with the patches and stuff like that. And yes, I guess the whole idea is yes, try to avoid the patches that come along, but then those patches also contain secure they're security patches for the for you know for the they're not just OS updates, they are security patches, and those are the important things that well you need you should do those. But again, that's where it introduces all these all this different stuff that Google thinks we should have. Oh Google. Uh anyway, yeah, it's it's kind of shitty. Uh it's just another it's all part of this data privacy and security stuff that you know I'm trying to do my part in and lessen my exposure to all of these companies.
SPEAKER_01So um we'll see what happens. Uh with that being said, is there anything you're looking at for Black Friday coming up? That is happening on November 28th. Yeah. Anything on the radar? What do you uh what's what's what's on your what's on your list?
SPEAKER_02Well, there's record store Black Friday, of course. Uh I don't know if that's you know I haven't even looked at that. I don't know how that's gonna work out this year because um we've got a big that's in two weeks or less than two weeks now, we've got a big conference with work here in Vancouver, so all of our employees across Canada are coming in. We're having some training sessions and meetings and our Christmas dinner all rolled into that. And it's down at the River Rock. Um so that is um that is the Thursday night. And because some of us are staying overnight to help with uh you know some of the shit that's going on, I'm there through to Friday morning. I don't know what's planned for Friday, Friday morning. I mean, I'm hoping to get out of there early and then I can whip downtown or whip someplace and go check out the record store see what purchases I can snag, but um we'll have to see how that goes. Anyway, so that's that is one thing. Um, you know, I'm watching some other stuff online. Yeah. There are you know, I mentioned the Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar that I picked up. Yeah, that's I'm I'm looking at a pair of surround speakers to go with it, so but those have to come down in price if I'm gonna do anything.
SPEAKER_01So what are they at right now?
SPEAKER_02Oh, they're at uh like 600 bucks for one. Never mind a pair. Uh yeah, so yeah, so that's as a pair of those is uh is as much as the sound bar is, so yeah, that's a lot of money.
SPEAKER_01So what about you? Um I'm just I was speaking of I'm looking for an iPad. Okay. Uh I just want uh just to tell like I have uh outdated MacBook that is now just a media player, like yeah, hook a uh HDMI up to it and use that as a media player because you install VLC on it and you can play whatever the fuck you want. Yeah, so but I want an iPad for like I've noticed that while I've been out and about traveling, kind of doing some things, like having a tablet just to kind of have a bigger screen or to watch a movie to wind down or something. Because when I was in Winnipeg, I was trying to wind down the hotel, but about 50% of Winnipegians are French speaking, so there's a lot of French programming on. So I was like watching Big Bang Theory in French because it was the on TV. So I'm just like, well, if I have an iPad, I can rip around and you know, just watch my own shit while I'm just kind of abroad and it's nice and light and stuff. And because I am part of the Apple ecosystem, I have charges up the yin yang for everything, so I can plug it and go. But a new iPad and stuff is it's still pretty pricey. So I've been watching a lot, like I've been watching Facebook Marketplace a lot because you can get a probably a good used one along with like the keyboards and all the stuff for you know in between 500 and a thousand bucks. So yeah. Hopefully just pick up a nice used one and just kind of go that way. But uh, I did pick up what there was like uh Amazon Black Friday sale. I know Amazon, the evil fucking devil, but uh I had my eye on uh the Last of Us remastered parts one and two for my PS5. Oh, okay, and they were normally like $79 or something like that for the first one and $89 for the second one, but they're both on sale for like $25 or something like that. So I picked both those up for $50. Cool. And then I sold my because I just upgraded the versions because they gave the graphics and the gameplay and all that stuff. So I just ended up selling my old two ones for 20 bucks on Facebook Marketplace. Okay, and those that was the quickest sale I ever made. I got like a hundred results. I'm like, first off, you know, it's not through Matt. Yep, no problem. And I just met some guy at 7-Eleven and yeah, he ended up picking it up. But um, that's pretty much about it. I don't know if that's a Black Friday thing or whatever, but I got nothing, really nothing on the radar.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, just uh just a comment on your iPad for when you travel and stuff like that. I um I picked up, I mean, this is sort of related. I I picked up a travel router. Oh I haven't really tested this out yet. When I was in Toronto, I kind of I was really too I was too busy. I had it hooked up and I I forgot a cable, so I had to to eventually find one from one of my co-workers who had uh uh he's part of the IT team. He had to I I borrowed a cable, an HDMI cable from him. Uh anyway, so I but I didn't get to test as much. But the whole idea is uh that so even when you go watch TV, like you said, TV is either shitty, it's limited. Um yeah, I I mean I just I just hate the option. So not that you spend a lot of time in your room, especially watching TV when you're out traveling or on vacation, but anyway, I picked up the travel router. The whole idea is and and and I got uh an old um Roku, what's it called? A Roku 4K. It's not the big Roku Pro, it's not the big uh or not the bit, they're not big anyways. It's like a stick, it's more of it's not a stick either, but it's just a small tiny thing. It's it it's uh um you know it's still 4K, it still connects to Wi-Fi, and of course it hdmi out to your TV, so it still has all that. But anyways, the whole idea is is um use the travel router, connect through something called tail scale, or you can use any any VPN, wire guard VPN, or something like that. So connect from the travel router back home here to my home network, and then that would allow me to stream from the Roku anything I want and play it on the TV at uh in in the hotel room. So um yeah, yeah. I mean it's sure I could watch Plex or whatever it is on my laptop. Yes, I mean that's no problem. I can do that. But hey, if I've got a TV there, a nice big TV, why not watch something on TV while I'm lying in bed or whatever it is, right? So um so I hope to test that out when I stay over at the at the River Rock here in a couple weeks. I'm gonna bring it and get it all hooked up again one night and see what see what I can do. And you know, it it is all configured as far as I can tell. Everything should be ready to go, so we'll we'll give that a shot. But yeah, it's it's um yeah, hey, I've got my I've got my media library here, right? Why not take advantage of it? I always I already listen to music wherever I want. Um why not take advantage of you know movies and TV and stuff like that too?
SPEAKER_01I didn't even know that existed. That's yeah, that's fucking cool.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Is it an expensive piece of gear or is it cheap? Travel router is a hundred bucks.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's easy. Yeah, for sure. And you can get a Roku or you could get any of those other smaller uh media players for I mean that would Roku was 40 bucks or something like that that I bought from my mom a while back, and she's using something else now. So yeah, easy. What's is she what'd you hook up for her? What's she using? Well, she's using my old NVIDIA shields. Oh nice. Yeah, because I picked up a new one because it's got 4K and uh obviously with the new TV now. I need 4K with HDR and oh yeah, uh and Dolby Vision and stuff like that, right? So speaking speaking of TV, so I've been watching some stuff and we'll get into maybe movies later, but one thing I wanted to just mention real quick about it having 4K HDR watching the those BBC uh that BBC programming like planet Earth, frozen planets, like you know, you know what I'm talking about. All of those watching all those and spending the money on a nice TV is worth it just for that stuff. Yeah, it's just so that footage is just so amazing. It really is. It's just yeah.
SPEAKER_01And you get into like the massive rips of the Blu-rays and stuff, and there's like there's always constantly debates on Reddit which is the best movie to watch, and uh Rady Player One is up there, Gravity's up there, uh Blade Runner 2014. Um what else is up there? Um shit. I don't know. There's a bunch of Pacific Rim is up there, Top Gun Maverick is up there. Yeah, there's a bunch of amazing movies that are just shot and that if you have the set and the sound system that does it, it's like it's better than seeing a movie in the movie theater.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, exactly. And these TV shows are are mentioned along with those movies all the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Have you ever watched, like, have you ever sat down and watched one of those nature shows, like the blue, was it BBC Blue Planet, whatever it is?
SPEAKER_02Uh well, yeah. I I had some running this morning, and that's why I that's why I wanted to bring it up. I've just been so I've been I've been playing that stuff a little bit. Like I'm just I'm still getting into this this high quality, this HDR or Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos. So it's it's not it's the audio and video. So you know, I'm still checking out some of the stuff that that's that's available, and it's just it's it's amazing. But yeah, I was watching some of that this morning. I had it on the TV while I was doing my prep and checking over your shit and doing some other stuff here, having my coffee and whatever. It's just it's amazing stuff.
SPEAKER_01Do you remember Peter Henderson from Sea Fox?
SPEAKER_02Yes, I do. Yes, I do, Peter.
SPEAKER_01So he would always have people over to his house, and we would always get high, and he'd always everyone who came over had to watch us one specific section on BBC Blue Planet. It was about these like birds who were flying around, and the commentator on it would always go, put the birdies. I can say it like three or four times. It's like this is the greatest thing in the history of TV. Like, because it would be like this art, like this cinematic shot of these blue birds flying in, and this lady would come out of nowhere. Like, it was the it was the greatest thing ever. And he did it, he must have shown everyone at work that. Like, he would just it was just thing. You need to come over, we need to get high, we need to watch this thing on BBC. It was just like it was the funniest thing. So that's where my mind goes from that shit. And I actually haven't watched well, I mean, I have an older set, it's a Samsung, fuck, I don't fucking know, but it's like it's 4K, it's meant for gaming, but I did throw on because I did end up buying that BBC stuff on Blu-ray. Uh so I still have a Blu-ray player that actually plays that content. So I did throw that on, and it was actually really, really cool.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But uh yeah, shit. You know, I I do need a new TV. Uh fuck, I don't know. During the COVID and a recording, I took my I think I explained this, but like I was putting my camera behind my TV, and like the U little USB dongle actually tapped like the little little fucking cord on the end of the cable, like that, that silver part, yeah, actually tapped the my TV set and chipped it. So I have one fucking dead pixel in this $2,000 TV that I can't fix because it's not worth fixing. So whenever so when I'm playing like a video game that's all in black, I gotta have this one fucking pixel in the middle of the fucking way. I'm still pissed off about it, but there's no point replacing the TV because when eventually when I leave this fucking place, I will get a new set for my new house and move forward that way. But that still pisses me off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that sucks. I'd be pissed off too. Like fuck, that's you spend so much money you don't want something like that to happen.
SPEAKER_01And it's a late, like screens aren't durable, like I can drop my phone from 15 feet and it's fine, but like I get one little tap, it was just not even up thinking like if it was a big thud or something, I get it, but it was just like a little a little swing tap. Holy shit, fucking pissed off. But whatever. That's it. That's all I can do. That's all I can do.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, I know we've talked about this in the past, but I'm in the market for a new password manager. Yeah, what are you using for a password manager? I use Bitwarden.
SPEAKER_02I've used Bitwarden for a while now, yeah. So I think I think I've gone through three different phases. I think there was something called Roboform something. That was a long time ago. I think it was called Roboform. Roboform, Robopass, Robo something. That was the first password manager. That was probably one of the very first pieces of software that I didn't mind purchasing a license for. Nice. Um, like this is this is back in this is probably back in my early chorus days. Actually, it was probably even before I joined chorus. So I was so I've been using a password manager for a long time. I think eventually uh eventually I moved to so I I moved to something else. I forget what it's called. It's it's your own, it's not self-hosted, but it but it's um it's stored locally. Um I f I forget the name of it. But I would use something called sync thing, which would sync it to a server or my computer, it would act as a backup, but it would it would sync all my devices together. It was so it would sync all the passwords. It acts as a backup, but it acts as a syncing device as well, so that you know you store it locally and you run it locally, and and so there's there's no cloud uh involved at all, right? So it's not spreading over the internet. So so again, it's all self-contained. I eventually moved to to LastPass. Yep. And of course, long before actually LastPass had the the issues that they've had over the recent years, anyways. They've been hacked, and I don't know, they're a shady organization now. Uh I've been using Bitwarden now for for uh a number of years now. So uh I think Bitwarden is one of the better ones. I'm not saying everybody should go to Bitwarden. Uh I like it. Uh you can self-host it if you want as well, which is free, or you can I mean it the regular there is a free version of the regular cloud Bitwarden too. So yeah, and I think it gives you uh two people in your family members can can run off the same account or something. So I don't know how it works, but I don't mind paying for it because I let my mom use it now, and that's that's itself is well worth the money, and my sister uses it, and um trying to get my aunt to use it as well because she's got shitty passwords that she's always trying to write down everywhere. And anyway. Um Bitwarden is probably one of two that you should be looking at if you wanted to to to to do this uh through a cloud. And and so there's Bitwarden, and I think the other one's called OnePassword. Oh yeah, yeah, I know one password. Yeah, so those those two you should look at.
SPEAKER_01Stop. Yeah. Yeah, it's time to fucking move. Move on from LastPass, definitely. Yeah, yeah. So that's uh that's on my to-do list. So yeah, export export.
SPEAKER_02Your um export everything, import it easy enough into one of those other two two apps, and away you go. It's pretty simple. So you can export in LastPass?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yeah. Oh, so I have to look how to up how to do that.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Oh, well, um, because if you've got a hundred more or more accounts in your in your password manager, which I'm you probably do, yeah. Uh that would be impossible to have to enter them manually if in another system, right? So well, I was about to get ready to do that. That was about to be the uh you can you can export because I did that for my accounts. Oh, perfect. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I am so excited now. Do it war than it is.
SPEAKER_02Bit warden it is do it, yes, for sure. You won't be sorry.
SPEAKER_01Uh what else do we got going on? Shit, right? I've been playing a lot of video games. Um, I'm playing this game on PS5 called Ghost of Utai. It's at the sequel to Ghosts of Toshima, which means nothing to you. Nope. Have you even played the Xbox that I fucking gave you?
SPEAKER_02I I haven't, man. It's it's it's sitting there all hooked up and collecting dust. It's sad because it's something that I really wanted to you know try out and work around. I could still can, I know, but but it but it sucks that it's sometimes I mean I've got no excuse. I like I don't know. I mean I we all say that we're busy and there's no time, and in some ways that's true, but you know, whatever. Sometimes sometimes I just don't have time.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes shit just happens, and so I've been playing a lot of video games, so I'm behind on everything. Yeah, uh, but this game is fantastic. I it sucked me in. I'm about 75% done. I I fucking love it. New Call of Duty came out last week. I'll be playing that after I beat this and lose my life and get my ass kicked by a 12-year-old. It's always a good time. Uh, but you know, that's just it's been life's just been busy for you. I know it's been super busy, conferences and stuff, and I've been busy with work. I've been bumped up to supervisor, I got a bunch of shit going on with that stuff. Uh, but yeah, it's uh sorry. We apologize to you listeners. It's been a fucking hot minute, and I don't know if it's gonna get better or worse. Like shit's picked picking up for Christmas. Do you have any Christmas plans? What's going on? Because it's it's around the corner.
SPEAKER_02It is, it's happening fast. We're mid-November already, and um 2026 is coming up quick. And yeah, no plans for Christmas. Uh, I might try and make a visit out to see my mom. Um, no, no flight plans. You know what? Uh, here we go. I'm gonna get I'm I'm pissing myself off here and I'm getting worked up because I mean it's my own fault. But you know, I was looking at flights to out to Calgary, uh, just a flight. You know, it pisses me off that these airlines are able to fuck around with their pricing, right? So uh the closer you get to a date and the capacity for each flight uh causes the seats to go up in price, right? Yeah. Um for the two of us to fly to Calgary return uh would be like twelve or thirteen hundred dollars over Christmas, and that's the only reason why, because it's over Christmas. That's fucking stupid. Why are airlines allowed to do that with their pricing? Why are they allowed to do it? It's the price today for a seat should be the same as a price for the same seat two months from now. Right? You buy you buy a uh I don't know, you buy a well let's just say a hockey game or a movie ticket. I mean you're you're you're buying that price the the closer you get to the screening time for a movie does not cause the price of a seat to go up in price, right? Yeah, that's true. So why should it be different? And same for a hockey game. Uh you know, getting into verified resales, that's a whole nother story, of course. But but why should why should seats for a flight be any different? Yeah. Right? So yeah, they do it all the time, and it just you know it pisses me off. Uh and that's why I hate these fucking airlines. They're all shit. They really are, you know, and then and then things go wrong. There's delays, there are, you know, your problems with your fucking luggage. You know, now that now now you get now you have to pay extra for carry-on luggage. Of course, you have to pay extra for checked luggage. I mean, why like they fucking nickel and dime you for every single fucking thing. They jack up prices the closer you get, or the more as the higher the capacity is for the flight. Like, why? Why does it happen? Your flight at 8 o'clock in the morning should be the same as your flight at 2 p.m., right? Because you know, you've got these, you you know, you check for a flight, and sure the six o'clock a.m. flight is uh I'm just throwing a number out there, 150 bucks. Yeah, well, why should the flight, why should that flight be cheaper? Why should the flight at 2 p.m. be more expensive than that one at 6 o'clock in the morning? It's the same fucking seat, it's the same fucking flight. It's this you know, you're not getting there's no difference here. Why should it be any different? Right? Like it's fine, it's bullshit. It really is. Anyways, uh because of that, uh, we probably won't be going for a visit at Christmas, so those airlines can fuck right off. They're not getting my money.
SPEAKER_01There we go. It's true, but it's like that with uh like gas. Look at our cell phones, we're getting yeah, racked over the coals for our cell phones here. Yep. In the states, you get unlimited everything you pay $300, you get a brand new iPhone or Samsung or uh OnePlus One, whatever phone you want. Yeah, and you pay a thousand bucks for the year. And like here, we just get screwed. Like we're all everyone's paying $80 to $100 for you know just basic service, and even then it's spotty at best.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, for sure. Your telecoms should not be should not be, yeah, they are just as bad, you know. Um I'm not saying I'm not saying I agree with it, but gas prices are the same, but yeah, but I mean I mean I I don't like it, but I guess you can see well, they shouldn't go up just because it's the fucking holidays or just because it's summertime. Like they really shouldn't. Yeah. I know the price of oil across the world affects you know what you pay at the pump. I uh yeah, I'm not saying that's that's right, but but I mean I I get I understand that, but that doesn't mean that your fucking gasoline should go up in the summertime just because it's summertime and everybody's traveling, right? It it's just there there's there's no reason for it. It's stupid.
SPEAKER_01Well, even like from day to day, like it's more expensive in the morning than it is at night because you're trying to host people as they take off for work.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, see that that's bullshit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, how does that like how's that even legal? Yeah, like I don't even know how to understand how that works.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's bullshit.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. That's just the stuff that's above our pay grade, and these are one, these are some of the many options that are above our pay grade.
SPEAKER_02Well, for sure, but it's it affects everybody, right? And you know, it's we try and figure out why why it is this way, and well, at the end of the day, it's probably to pocket all these fucking billionaires uh or pad the pockets of all these other billionaires, right? Because uh they're the ones you know who are benefiting from it. So uh all of us fucking peons are getting fucking shit on and it's sad. Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_01Um, I want to talk to you about live music. Did you buy your ticket to Keithmas this year?
SPEAKER_02No, and that sold out so fucking fast. I don't know if you noticed. Yeah, that sold out right away. We didn't get tickets. Um myself, I don't really care. The better half, I think she was probably wanting to go. And uh, you know, I don't know if tickets are out there, resale tickets are out there or not, and how much they are, but key, I mean Keith Mist is uh it's a great event, and it always is, and they've great performances and it's a lot of fun, yeah, and it's for a good cause, right? So, all of those things, it's awesome. Um it's it's it's just be crazy how popular it's become. Yes, like it's and if you go, and and we were talking about this when we found out it sold out, and I think we've talked about it recently, uh you know, the last two or three years, it's it's it's attracting a different crowd, it seems. And and and again, I'm not that's not this necessarily a problem. It's good it's getting sold out, and it's good that you know it's going for all the proceeds going for a good cause. It it it's a different crowd now. I don't know, I don't know I can't and I can't describe it. It's different different people are going. It's almost like it's you have to be uh I don't know. I was gonna say you almost have to be one of the cool people, I guess, now if you're going, right? It's but I don't know if that's right or true, but anyways, but it is a different crowd, right? It's um anyway, we're not going. Um yeah, so that's that.
SPEAKER_01I um anyone who resells a Keith Miss ticket or any concert that 100% of the tickets go to the proceeds like that, like I will touch on this, but the uh the final Aussie concert, the beginning is the end, or the welcome back to the beginning. Like people resign those tickets that 100% of those tickets are going to uh like the charities, they they have a special place in hell. Yeah, fuck those guys.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if you're if you're reselling to make a profit, like if you're reselling above the the face value of a ticket, then you can fuck off. Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_01I understand you might not be able to make it, but you're selling for a thousand dollars more than reselled on the ticket that's going like you fuck you guys.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I agree. There's there's no place uh for that at all. There's uh that's just pure fucking greed, and uh yeah, it's it's pretty sad. Um what about concerts for you? Hey, before we talk about your concerts, because oh we're gonna probably spend a half hour on those. You've been you've been to so many. We actually went to see uh the Who back in Spain. Get the fuck out. We went to a concert. I went to a fucking concert. How do you feel? Are you okay? I'm still here. I'm still here and I'm still sort of talking legibly to you. You can understand me, right? Yep, that's true. I don't have uh I don't have a horn growing out of my head or anything like that. So right?
SPEAKER_01I'll have to check your backside, but we can do that later.
SPEAKER_02Well, no, you you're not going to. Um yes, we went to the who I I wasn't gonna go, I didn't want to go, I didn't care about going. We've seen them before. And yeah, and um I think it was cut it was another one of those last minute things where the better half wanted really wanted to go, and so I got uh I got a couple of tickets. Um it was a fantastic show. Yeah, I can always. You know, those guys, those two guys are in their 80s. Roger, despite some voice problems in the past, the past years and stuff like that, um, just amazing. He just sounded so good. Yep. Uh the rest of the band was awesome. Uh Pete's brother always plays with them, and Simon, Simon's great. Um yeah, it was it was a good show. So and that was what, late September? That was early September, I think. Early September. Yeah, yeah. So that was pretty cool. Um I can't remember what we saw before that. I don't think we've seen anything else since we last chatted.
SPEAKER_01So um, I don't even know what I've seen. I last one I went and saw was uh Matthew Good.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um I think yeah, that was fucking it's October 25th was the last show. Oh, okay. That's I saw so that was cool. I I do enjoy Matthew Good and the gang. He's uh um I got the chance to interview him a couple times. I went and saw corn. Corn was fucking awesome here. Who opened for corn?
SPEAKER_02Uh there was somebody who Gojira.
SPEAKER_01Gojira, right.
SPEAKER_02Yes, that's yeah.
SPEAKER_01And Gojira brought all of the fire, they had so much fucking fire at the show.
SPEAKER_02It was it was awesome. Right on. They're a great band. I uh I'm glad I saw them open for Metallica, you know, whatever year that was. Whatever BC place. Yeah, that was good.
SPEAKER_01But uh I do have, I mean, I bought what to the fucking buy for. Uh I have offspring coming up, they're playing with Bad Religion. I see Rogers.
SPEAKER_02I saw that. That would that would be cool. Um, that would be a decent show. I don't know why it's not the other way around, but whatever. Um Bad Religion is certainly the the bigger better band, in my opinion, but um still for both of them on the same bill, that's not so bad. That would be cool to see.
SPEAKER_01Uh I bought tickets to orbit culture. They're playing at the Rickshaw, I think, uh late February. Cool. You shared what other songs, that's good. Yep, yep. I like that new album, man. That thing, uh, it's it's punishing, it beats you in the face a little bit. Yep. Uh Zach Wilde is coming back to town with the Black Label Society. Where's that show? That's the Orpheum. Oh, no way. That's cool. Um, so he's playing it. So it's Black Label Society and Zack Sabbath. So I'm almost a play. Yeah, so he's gonna double duty on it. Okay. So that could be alright. I could be. And I also bought tickets for um uh Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, is that sold out yet? Uh I figured that would be that would sell pretty quick, although it's at BC Place, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so the stadium show for that. Um I think it's I think there's I think obviously there's always tickets there, but again, Ticketmaster just reaping in the benefits, like double resale on their website.
SPEAKER_02So that's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01And I actually didn't end up so there was uh a couple pre-sales for that Foo Fighter show. There was the newsletter presale, which I wasn't a part of. Yeah, then there was the fan club presale or the artist presale, which you had to sign up and pre-register and do all that shit. Yeah, and there's a general on-sale thing. So we tried to go for floor tickets for both nights for the uh for the um the artist presale and then the general presale because I didn't get them for the artist presale, whatever it was, and right away they were going up in price and whatever it was. So I actually ended up getting my Foo Fighters ticket from I think it was Stub Hub. Yeah, and it was like I paid an extra $25 on top of the pre-sale price. Yeah, so but I ended up getting my floor ticket for that. Oh, cool. So I was just like, but the fact that you have to buy it through a reseller just pisses me off because it does. And yeah, I'm looking on it now, and people want to join me and do different things, they're like double the price now. And I don't know, I just caught it at the right time, whatever it was, but I would have been fucking pissed.
SPEAKER_02But that that is well, again, there's something else there's something else that shouldn't be allowed, though you know, the way Ticket Bastard operates. Um, yeah, we we ended up, or I ended up buying tickets for Rush, uh, which is which is like a year fucking year away. Uh December 15th or whatever. Yeah, you do with Metallica, of course. Yeah, so that was two years advanced. So a similar, a similar situation. I ended up signing up for the artist pre-sale. Yep. Uh it was actually, I was surprised. It was actually a relatively painless experience, despite the fucking cost of the ticket. Yeah. Um, I signed up, I signed in right away, like 15-20 minutes before pre-sale or the sale started. Um, I joined the queue when it started, and that went fairly quick. I didn't have to wait too long. I was able to choose my tickets and you know, a couple minutes in and out, right? It was it was pretty quick and easy. Now, you know, of course, with those situations, you you have to go in, you have to find something right away, and you have to you know buy it because if you wait, everything is going to be sold out in five minutes, right? And you won't be able to find anything. So so um so it's pretty simple, but still, we're we're at the back of the we're upper level at the back. Yes, we're row two, which is cool, but we're at the back. Those tickets were three hundred dollars each. Like, fuck me. I that is probably is that the most expensive ticket now on my list? That's probably it probably is. I don't think anything else we went to before was that much. $300 a ticket. Yeah, like fuck off. Like I looked at other tickets, like on the floor and lower bowl, and like holy shit, like come on. What what is why are they charging so much money? Like, fuck. So, yeah, anyways. Anyways, I'm um I it should be cool. I think it's really cool what they're doing. Uh obviously they're musicians, they're still well relatively young. Uh they still want to tour and keep going because that's all they know. Um so that's awesome. Did you did you I'm sure you know who this drummer is that they've picked up. Did you have you what do you know about her?
SPEAKER_01Oh, she's a beast. She was Niles? Yes. Uh yeah, she she's a fucking beast. Like, um, there's there's no footage of her playing any rush songs. And obviously, Neil Piard is one of the greatest drummers that ever lived.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but um, I think that if you're a fan, like you're not gonna be disappointed in what she's doing or whatever it is. Yeah. Uh she's my age, she's 42. She's uh, you know, she's I I'm assuming like some of her videos like obviously when this announce got announced, everybody was looking her up. But I've seen her in like like drummer world and stuff. I've been following her for a couple years before this announcement, so it just kind of blew my mind.
SPEAKER_02But I figured you'd be you would know who she is, but I I I knew nothing about her. Um, I didn't know that she played with Jeff Beck and went on tour with him a lot because you know what? Maybe like I saw Jeff Beck at the what was it called? It was the called the Center for Performing Arts or whatever. It's not it's a fucking church now.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01No, I was I think I was there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know if she was on that tour or not. I think she came along with Jeff Beck after that tour, but I can't be 100% sure. Um I don't know. I forget when that tour even happened. So maybe I saw her. I I like I don't know, but um obviously I didn't know about her at the time, I didn't know her name or anything about her, but yeah, I've been watching her stuff and you know, listening, listening to her and seeing her play. Um it just seems like she's perfect for that. She's her style, you know, she she plays a lot of jazz, and you know, of course, most of it's instrumental and stuff like that. She's you know got a regular band, but it's all instrumental from what I've been able to tell. But she just it just seems like she's perfect. Like I don't know. It's just it's just nobody's going to be Neil Peart. But it seems like she's the sort of the next best thing, right? And um yeah, I'm I'm I'm looking forward to that. I've been a Rush fan for many years. Um, you know, more so their earlier stuff, of course, but yeah, but still, um yeah, should be should be really cool to see what they've got lined up.
SPEAKER_01See, like um I've only I only saw Rush once. Yeah. And uh I mean, I mean, I love like I mean I I understand what they're doing, but I just I can't really get into it. You do know what I mean? Like uh I'm a big fan of moving pictures, and so when they announced that uh it was a time machine tour, I think it was. Yeah, when they did moving pictures in its entirety, that was fucking awesome. I mean, they opened up a spirit of radio, they did moving pictures in its entirety, Sigurd YYZ, Limelight, Camera Eye, Witch Hunt, all that stuff, you know, kind of back to back. And that was fucking blew my mind. Uh Drum Solo Close to the Heart. They did 2112, it's part one and two. Like, I remember I'm I saw everything I need to see, so I'd never have to see Rush again. I'm happy I got the chance to see that. But yeah, cool. Have you seen them more than once?
SPEAKER_02I've seen them at least three times. Uh I think four times, and this could be five. So I saw I did see them. I don't think I saw the Moving Pictures tour, but I saw the two tours after that. So that was in the early 80s when I saw them both times. Yeah. Um, yeah, and yeah, great, great stuff. That's all that stuff back then. But then I've seen them at least once since. Uh I may have seen that same tour that you were talking. Um but I think I saw the I think I saw that final tour as well. Um what was that? R40, whatever it is. Yeah, I think I I think I saw that final. So, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Fuck you probably saw the original Moving Pictures tour in what 81?
SPEAKER_02Well, no, I don't I don't think I think it was the tour after. I saw them I saw them in Edmonton in 82, but that was their next uh what was their album that came out after that? Because it moving pictures came out in 81. I'm sure it was 81. Uh what was it after that? Grace Under Pressure, I think was after that, and that's the tour I saw. I think uh it was in Edmonton, the fall of 1982. So whatever tour that was. Yeah, that's the first time I saw them. And then I saw the next tour after that. I know, I know for sure. Um yeah, that's uh I uh they are a band that you either love or hate. I understand. That it's really progressive rock and it's really, you know, all of these time changes, you know, the sound, uh, even Getty's vocals. I mean, I can understand people maybe not, you know, being turned off to that, but whatever. I think great musicians, um good Canadian band. It was good to see them be as successful as they are, since you know, you don't see many that you don't see Canadian bands that successful, I don't think. They've gotta be out there as being one of one of the, if not the most successful Canadian band. Are they not? I mean, yeah, there's there's Neil Young. Um I mean, even the hip were not that as as popular in the States, especially. Um what are some of the other Canadian bands, I guess, that came along? Certainly from back then, maybe there are now, I don't know, but like, hey, if you want to throw nickel back in there, they can fuck off, but maybe they've been more successful, I don't know. But anyway, certainly all those bands, classic bands from whenever, from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, nobody probably beats Rush, I would think. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, I mean, obviously, I respect them and saw them, and I just I don't put rush on, I don't put them on, you know, but I loved yes. I think yes could be considered kind of rush-ish.
SPEAKER_02They're yeah, they're uh they're a progressive rock band, probably yeah, similar in many ways. Yeah, you listen you listen to their songs, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Fuck, I'm out of fucking Canadian bands. Like fucking especially that kind of style. Yeah. I don't think I don't think anybody was doing it. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Um that's what it is. Yeah. But yeah, that's uh that's fucking that's that's super cool. But yeah, no, fuck that. I'm stoked that you got tickets for that. That's uh our friend our good buddy JJ bought tickets to uh the two shows in Toronto and both shows here, I think, and maybe Seattle. Oh, right on. Um so I just hope they change the set list. Like I hope it's something different every night.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it sounds like that's what they're doing for sure. Yeah, I for everything I've read so far on the tour, it sounds like that's that's the plan. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that's you know, that makes it worth it. Even if it's one song difference, like that's what makes the fucking the show worth it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, it does.
SPEAKER_01Especially if you see a band a couple times in a row, but yeah. Change it for the hardcore kids. Change it for the hardcore kids.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01So you got Rush lined up. Is there anything else you got lined up, or is that it? No, that's that's it.
SPEAKER_02Um That's it. That's all I got. And I think I think the Who show is the only one that we've seen in quite quite a while, too. I can't remember what we saw before that. Um, I have no idea. There was something in the summer I thought we saw, but I can't remember what it is.
SPEAKER_01Just one of those things. Did you so did you ever make it to Nails? Have we talked since then? Did you go see Ninja's Nails?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think we talked after that, because that was July, wasn't it? Um Was that July? Yeah, that was July. July or August? I think it was July. September. Anyways, no, no, I I didn't see that. I think we talked about it last time. I didn't go. It sounds like it was a great show. Uh I'm sure, I'm sure it was. Um Yeah, it probably would have been pretty cool. I guess I'm kicking my butt for not going. There's a couple of those that have happened along the way, but it sounds like he'll be doing it again. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Again, we can't see them all. You can't see them all.
SPEAKER_02Like No, and again with me, I've really been picking and choosing, obviously. It's you know, it's just again, it's so expensive. It's it really is. I I uh I have a hard time paying that much money for a for a concert. I really do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, fuck, I don't remember what I paid for foods. I think it was like 300 bucks, 325 or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh but I mean you get you got it's a a stadium show. It's two of the arguably greatest rock bands ripping around right now. So it'll be good. I know we both love Queens and Foos. Dave is Dave, he always puts on a fucking show, so it's uh we'll kind of see what happens. And seeing it up close, like I've never I think this is one of the few times I've been in the pit for a BC Play show. I'm always up in the stand. So I'm gonna be super curious to see what it's like uh up nice and close for this gig. Yeah. Because it's just gonna be like we know all know how BC Place is. Um it's hit and miss, depending where you are. So I hope that lower level is gonna be good. I don't remember the last show I was on. Even for Metallica BC Place, I wasn't on the uh I wasn't on the floor, I was up in the seats.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, shit, fuck it. It's it'll be very interesting. I'll report back next September. Next September. Yeah. Yes. That's either it's a fucking long ways away. Uh, but since we're talking about tunes, let's get into music. Uh, do you want me to go first? Sure, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You you go for it.
SPEAKER_01Go for it. All right, let's see if this fucking works, okay? Are we ready? No, I gotta. I'm like you, I have tabs open. Yeah. I'm uh I'm it's over. I it's not uh it's more I'm more of a window per window kind of guy. It's uh different sorts of windows. Uh let's let's give her a go here. Uh we got the fabulous Poppy coming out with a new album. I think it comes out album's called Empty Hands. It's called coming out January 23rd, I think. Um she came up with a single last week or a couple weeks ago. It's called Unravel, but then this one dropped this past week. It's called Bruised Guy. I fucking love this shit. I I love the hardcore metal chick vocals with the melodic shit. Like this is this is right up my alley. And I saw her live. So I went, I had the greatest polarizing concert experience of all time. I went and saw Kelsey Ballerini, country artist in Seattle, and then the next night I saw Poppy at a small club, Neptune Theater in Seattle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that is.
SPEAKER_01And it was fucking awesome because the crowd difference. Obviously, Kelsey does a lot of uh like caters to girls and stuff, but they're you know 25% dudes there. But I remember standing in the line, and there was um a bunch of girls in front of us, so they kind of budged in and were kind of like this, and they said, Oh, I hope they don't run out of white claw, and we just started fucking laughing. And um so that was it. But then the next um next day we're in the middle of the pit for Poppy, whatever it was, and this these group of girls bunched in front of us, and we're just like, What the fuck? They were smaller than us, so who cares? We can see over them. Yeah, but they're like, Oh, sorry for bunching in front of you. Do you want my white you want to sip on my white cloth? And I just started laughing because it was the complete opposite parallel to what we experienced the night before. So that's that. I know you're not a fan of the shit, but did you get make it through the poppy? Did you enjoy it?
SPEAKER_02I made it through. I don't know if it's I I mean I didn't hate it by any means. I I understand, I I I know listening to it for sure, I can see why it's your right up your valley. It's uh I know it's the stuff that you love for sure. It's uh yeah, it's okay. I didn't hit I didn't hate it. I didn't hate it.
SPEAKER_01So that's that that's it. We're already at a win. Our first show back, we're at a win. Way to go. Doing well. But you know, like right in the neck next hit, her last sight. This is this is Adam music. The hardcore metal with the breakdowns. This is what this is why I love this shit. I found these guys, I don't know, they're I found from Sweden, I think, or Finland, or some shit. These Finland guys know how to rock. They they just kick shit. Um Did you make it through this song? I made it through.
SPEAKER_02It's probably the same, the same as the poppy. I I I I it's not my thing, but I didn't hate it. So you made it through the song. I made it through the song. I'm doing let's just get to the break. I'm doing good. Two for two. Two for two. Um yeah, all the Scandinavian shit though, it's it's it it is there's so much good stuff out there for sure. I don't know what it is up there with those guys and girls. They just know how to rock for sure. Like, come on. Come on. Yeah, see, that's not really my thing.
SPEAKER_01I know that you love that shit.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, I did shit.
SPEAKER_01It just I love it because like the whole song's like not I'm gonna say not based around, I'm sure it's not like that, but they're just kind of like it kind of goes and peeks the valleys, and you get this, and you just want to start a circle bit by yourself. Fuck, I remember the first time I saw Lama God live. Like it was the the um it was the headbanger's ball tour, and it was kill switch and lama god at the Commodore Ballroom. Yeah, I'm like, I just remember just like what the fuck is going on? And like I'm in a circle pit in the middle of nowhere, and I'm just like, oh, I fell in love with it. It was just uh I love that shit. Um, so that's that. So that's her last sight. They have a new album coming out. They actually have a new single out, and it's like they have like a polka breakdown on it. It's called The Fall, but that's besides it. This one was called Her Last Sights. Uh, the song was called, what the hell was that song called? Uh Chasing Shadows. So check out Her Last Sight if you're into breakdowns and heavy guitar solos. And we talked about this before, but Black Label Society is coming back to Vancouver. Uh, this is their latest single off an untitled album still. I'm always recording and doing a bunch of shit, but there's no um album release date for any of the new stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But uh Zach and company are in town Tuesday, March 17th, which is what, St. Patrick's Day, I think.
SPEAKER_02That is March 17th. It is for sure. Yeah, cool. You know, great uh great song. I I just so this this is uh uh you know I must say that I have not spent a lot of time listening to Black Label Society. Um fuck. Uh and I should, and but I love this song, and yeah, I mean uh obviously this is very influenced by his days playing for with Aussie and certainly the Black Sabbath influences there. Absolutely. This has got that style of music all over it, so yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Man, and just like uh it's I went back and watched the beginning at last or beginning of the this is the beginning. What's the Ozzy thing called again? The uh final show? Yeah, back to the back to the beginning. Fucked it is so fucking cool. Yeah, it's just such uh such a celebration of music and heavy metal and stuff, and it is for sure.
SPEAKER_02We've been watching uh I might as well bring it up now. I don't know if we were we were gonna get to it, but we we watched the there's two newer documentaries out on Aussie. Uh it's more focused on Aussie, not Black Sabbath. One is a BBC episode, it's a it's an hour-long BBC documentary, I forget what it's called, but then there's this two-hour um it's called No Escape from Now, and it's and it focuses more on the previous, I guess, four years to to back to the beginning. It does end with Back to the Beginning, yeah. And uh so it so it's obvious, you know, it's a new documentary, kind of up-to-date footage from that from that show. Uh, and then of course he passed away. Um but it's it's pretty good. It's it's well done. It's two hours. Um yeah, it's pretty cool. Check it out. So, like, like I don't know, like all like I I I can't believe the shit that he went through. Not not only those last four years, but he he's been battling health problems like for the last twenty-five years or whatever, something like that. Like that's a fucking long time to to be going through all that shit and to um you know, to still at least, you know, obviously some tours were cancelled because of these health problems, but to still try and you know, he was still the recording at least, and still sounding good, still being relevant, um trying to do it even up until that final show. I mean, it just sounds like even that final show was in jeopardy because of health problems. And uh he did it, and then that's it. He he's gone. That was his Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um I completely forgot about that Aussie documentary, the no escape from No Escape from Now. No Escape from Now, yeah. So I I I I have found it. It's uh it's it's queued up, it's ready to go. Cool. And that BBC documentary was uh coming home.
SPEAKER_02Coming home, yeah, that's right. Yeah, they're they're very similar. Um coming home is well, I w I mean I'm not giving away anything really, but it it it it's it focuses them on living in Los Angeles uh and obviously them thinking about moving back to England. So uh because they've had their home back in England for so many years, but it was left empty. And so it just you know, obviously the health problems and the tours and stuff that are in there, but but yeah, the so it's not bad. Um but I think the more the Escape from Now is more encompassing of those final four years or something like that. So in fact, in fact, it doesn't talk really much about them moving back to their old house in England um uh so much. It just focuses more on his health and and everything else going on, I think, at the time. So anyways, it it it it's good. You know, it's he he's such an entertaining character, he really is. It's just yeah, it's just pretty funny.
SPEAKER_01So it's such a loss. Yeah, like absolutely. Um I I remember seeing this clip recently about um about the the final gig, and like he wasn't it was just touched on he wasn't about to play, so they had everybody on standby to sing with, you know, to perform the solo songs and the Sabbath songs, but he pulled it together and came through and it was uh like an amazing performance and a great way to say goodbye.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, that's that was cool. I think that's why he f he he he held it together somehow so that he could do that final show. Because he had never been able to do that to say goodbye and say you know that's his was that's his proper way of thanking everybody and all the fans and everything, right? And he was able to do that, so uh he held it held it together long enough for that. That was that was amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, just just just yeah, fuck what what what a night of tunes. Yeah, and I know we both looked talked about going to it and stuff. Oh it would have been so amazing. Yeah, but it would have been it would have been the pinnacle of music. Yeah, like that. You can't you're not gonna beat that before Final Sabbath, all those bands playing, like it would have been fucking awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that would have been cool.
SPEAKER_01Alright, anyways, moving on. Uh, orbit culture coming to town. I like these guys. I have a friend, um, his name's Adam Warren. He's a big fan of these guys, and he's pushed these guys on me a couple times. And um, he's been around for these guys' like birth and he's the first hairlining tour here in um coming to Vancouver. I think it's February 22nd. But these guys were in town a year and a half ago. They opened for Machine Head. Oh wow. Um, so yeah, I remember catching these guys because they were the uh one of the opening acts and one of the ones on my radar, but yeah, this song just fucking punches you in the face.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh called Tales of War, it's off their latest album, which just came out. Um so give it a give it a listen if you're into this shit. Did you uh you make it through this? This this I like. I didn't mind this.
SPEAKER_02There is something different about it and something uh something about it that I like more than that than those other couple tunes. But yeah, uh this I this I could get into for sure. Yeah, it's uh it's good stuff.
SPEAKER_01It's good stuff. Cool. Um the Rick Shaw, I think tickets are like 50 bucks if you wanna join us for this guy. But uh yeah, it's uh it's good. It's uh it just punches you in the face, you know. And uh, this is this is great shit. Right on. When is that show again? Uh February 22nd, I think. Yeah, cool. Um yeah, Sunday, February 22nd. Okay. So another Ticketmaster thing. I think there's tickets still available, so uh check out the Mighty Orbit culture. Alright. And uh this is a little left field out of me for uh um some pics of the week, but I fucking listen to everything. But the uh the girlfriend and I the girlfriend went and saw Oasis a couple months ago in Los Angeles. And um I had this song in my head, and it was this, and it was uh Snow Gallagher's, so one of the Gallagher brothers uh solo projects, and uh so it's Snow Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and this song was in my head, and it's called The Dying of the Light. And I was like, oh yeah, they have this Oasis song that kicks ass, I have to play it. And I fucking went through every fucking Oasis song, and I'm like, this isn't it. And then I remember oh, they both have solo projects, so I went through all the solo projects and stuff. And I remember seeing this song perform live with Sean Tomko at the Vogue, so it really sticks out in my mind. Like I remember the the concert memory of it, and I love the song, so I'm like, I had to find it, and I found it, and here it is, and that's the story behind it. But the dying of the light off No Gallagher's album, I think it's just the dying of the light, and uh yeah, I fucking love this song. Did you make it to the song or fuck Oasis and fuck the Gallagher Brothers?
SPEAKER_02Fuck Oasis, fuck the Gallagher Brothers. No, there's no fucking way I'm giving them any time of day. There's no fucking way. I I I just I can't do it. I just I I I um There's there's this hate there. Uh because part of it is not even just some of it may not even have anything to do with the music. Well, it does a lot, obviously. That's but it but I don't get the fucking fandom of I don't get the reaction that people have over these guys, over this music. It's just like what the fuck is like have have they brainwashed you in some way to to make you big fans like this? Like there's there is nothing, and it this is obviously just my opinion, and nobody else gives a shit. But it's just like there is nothing about their music that stands out that that that draws me in.
SPEAKER_01It's just turn it off, otherwise I might get stabbed.
SPEAKER_02I'll stab you through the cameras here. Like like turn that shit off. Like it's I I I like I don't know. Like I I know maybe I'm just it maybe I'm going overboard here, but I just I don't I don't get it. I really don't. Nope, nope. I I don't get it. And they can yeah, like I said, they can fuck off. I get I get fucking angry when I hear their fucking music. I do. Well, as you as you can tell. Yeah, fuck. Change the topic. Let's go to your song, Stephen. What do you got in the song? Okay, how could I piss you off now? Oh fuck. Well, yeah. Anyways. No, uh no, I respect that other, you know, everybody likes their own stuff, and I get that. Yeah, no, and that's what counts. And that's what counts. I still don't get it. I I still really don't get it. Like this this latest tour of those, of theirs, like I just people went fucking, they were drooling and going fucking gaga over these fucking this this this this show, and I don't know why. I don't understand it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, then it kind of came out of the came out of nowhere, right? Like it's just uh like I knew they were big, but I didn't think they were like, this is like crazy Taylor Swift levels big. Like they were fucking losing their minds to these shit. Exactly. I don't know why. Um for those of us keeping track in Taylor Swift's world, there's a new documentary coming out December 12th, okay. Okay, alright.
SPEAKER_02I'm moving on to my music now. What do we got here? We've got this here. We've got some fire and water. That's what we got. This will combat any of that oasis shit.
SPEAKER_01This is uh we need catfuck with this.
SPEAKER_02No, this is this is good. This is a great cover by COC. Uh this great cover of uh Fire and Water by Free. Uh they call this They call this the Riffistippy Studio Jam Session Volume 1. Are there any other tunes that have come from this jam session? Because maybe I haven't looked good enough, but I'm interested in hearing more.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, totally. Um I didn't even know. I thought this I didn't even know this was a cover, so uh there we go for that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Anyway, good good stuff. Pepper sounds great, the rest of the band is awesome. Who is who is the bass player? Because I think he's now a uh permanent replacement for Mike Dean, because I've seen him on other videos and other footage. But he looks familiar. I don't know. I I I can't I can't place him. I don't know I don't know who he is. Yeah, fuck, I have I have no idea. Anyway, it could be me up there with that beard and stuff in the tube, but I thought the same thing. I'm not uh I'm not good enough uh well I'm not a musician, so I wouldn't even try. Anyway, yeah, anyway, great song. Great song. COC. I I hope I hope there's some more stuff out there coming soon. Um I mean of course there's the um there's the down Um recordings or sessions coming. I mean the recording, I think. Down is coming out with a new album, right? So yeah. So we got that that to look forward to as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, shit. I didn't even know this was part of the like I had no idea the song existed, so I when he brought this up, I was like, oh fuck, this is cool. Yeah. But uh yeah, new Down's gonna be awesome. Yeah, absolutely. Um it's a good time for uh being a fan of Down or COC or even Pantera. Have you heard anything about Pantera's new stuff or anything like that?
SPEAKER_02Or uh they just Yeah, that I haven't. Either. I mean they did all the touring. I I don't know that I heard that they ever stepped into the studio for stuff.
SPEAKER_01Have you? No, I haven't heard shit. Yeah. I don't know if they're keeping it quiet or or what's going on, but Yeah, it'd be interesting.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. It'd be interesting to see what they come up with. Was that just kind of a kind of a one-off tour that they did or is there more to come? I don't know. I hope there's more stuff. Yeah. But we'll see. We will see. Okay. Uh another new tune. And I didn't know that Megadeth was kind of wrapping things up, but apparently their new album coming out in whenever it is. January. Whatever it is. Is that what it is?
SPEAKER_01Have you have you heard? Do you know the controversy behind this album? Have you been paying attention?
SPEAKER_02I have not.
SPEAKER_01No. So on this new album, they're doing a cover of Ride the Lightning by Metallica.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yes, I did hear that song, but I didn't know that there was any controversy around it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because Dave's taking all of course Dave. Dave is taking all writing credits, you know, whatever. Yeah, it's my song. But he's not changing any of the lyrics. He's using Heffield's lyrics. But the only thing he stated was they're doing he's redoing the solo. But uh I'm interested to hear that cover. But uh Yeah, no, this was uh I the song is uh I don't know it's more of a slap in the face, it's more of a fuck you. Like what is the I don't understand, I don't I quite I think I don't get this making that song. The first single was about 15.5, and that was actually pretty good. But uh what do you I can what do you think of this?
SPEAKER_02I like this, but yeah, I don't I don't mind the song. I mean it's yeah, it's it's not a it's not a thrash song. Uh I don't think it's considered it a thrash song. Although I was gonna say it sounds more like punk, but then you you one could say that there are some very close similarities between funk and thrash. So uh you know I don't know, but um I like I I mean I like it. I like it better. Yeah. Um no, it's good, yeah. Like I'm looking at some of the lyrics here too, and I guess I I kind of get what you mean. Like what is the you know, he's he's throwing the throwing the finger in the video, and you know, he's talking about not caring about other people and what they say or or any of that stuff, right? So I wonder who he's or what he's talking about.
SPEAKER_01Um but anyway, this is one of the first songs that have debuted at number one for Megadeth. Is it really? Wow, yeah, wow. Uh it's it's like so theoretically, right now, Megadeth has a number one song and Taylor Swift has a number two song. So that's crazy. I mean, think about that that spectrum.
SPEAKER_02So that's that shows you what the music charts are all about right there, but I'm glad Taylor's no longer a top, at least right now. So she could fuck off too.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. So I guess I guess you won't be watching the documentary on December 12th.
SPEAKER_03Nope.
SPEAKER_01Uh well, you know what's cool about that is she does chip for fans. They recorded those three BC Play shows. So the one of the last, like that last concert film that she puts out, it was all recorded in Vancouver. Oh, okay. Okay, well, that's if you had to put it on mute in the background. There you go. No, I I wouldn't do that either.
SPEAKER_02No, it's uh I'm not getting anywhere near that.
SPEAKER_01You're cranking on that new sonal system, then.
SPEAKER_02Here's something I'll crank on the new system. Bill Watch, uh Bell Witch and Arial Rune. Two two two different two bands who have collaborated uh on this album called I think it's a volume here, I guess. Um let's see. Uh new album called Stygian Bao Volume 2. So it's out now. Um I didn't know about this album until just just recently. I'm not even familiar with the band Ariel Rune. Obviously, very familiar with Bellwitch. They actually recorded an album that's uh I think the only one song, and I think it's about 60 minutes long, so that's right up your alley. So um. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02It's called Oh, Waves Became the Sky. That's the name of the song. It's it's doom metal. It doesn't speed up much from here for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yep. No, I uh I listened to all 13 minutes. I'm like, here we go. It's our first 13-minute song. I'm like, like we gotta do what we gotta do. Yeah. Um yeah, it was it was it's it's it's uh it's good. Production was there, you know? Like that's important. That's important for you. Yep, yep. Because I listened to it on my raid to Starbucks this morning, so uh okay, yeah, that's cool. I made it it was the full trip back. In fact, I still had a minute when I pulled into the driveway. Alright. Ah, well, here we go.
SPEAKER_02Hopefully you sat there for another minute and finished it off.
SPEAKER_01I had to.
SPEAKER_02I had to that's good. Thank you. Yep, proud of you.
SPEAKER_01Just for you. Don't stand on doing anything for you. Proud of you. But yeah, no, I I've never heard of these guys before, and I'm happy. So you did you do a 60-minute song?
SPEAKER_02Well, Bellwitch does. They've got uh I forget the name of the album. Um, I can't even remember right now. I think it I think it is one song. Yeah, and I think it's 50 60 minutes or something. So I would love to see them do that live.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that would be quite quite the trip, I guess, eh? It's okay, I'll take a piss after the song ends. Well, the song's 60 minutes. Fuck! But yeah, no, that's uh yeah, good stuff. Good stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, cool. Uh that's uh that's all I got. I only got the three songs today. Well, it's always 41 if you want.
SPEAKER_01So no, that's true. Good good work. And as always, if you want to listen to any of the picks of the week that we pick, uh you can find it all at oldmenhuyotheclouse.com. Uh, we talked about this earlier off the top, but you did watch your 31 days of horror. Did you end up watching all 31 days?
SPEAKER_02No, I didn't. I never do. Okay. Again, so much going on. Baseball in there. You know, I some there were a couple days where maybe I'd pick up a couple games or a cup watch a couple movies on over the weekend or something. I started early. Um, like I probably started in September keeping track of some of the movies I was watching. So it's not a true 31 days of October, but um uh yeah, no, it's it's always I mean I will I can watch horror movies. Uh I don't wait for October to watch horror movies because I I love watching them. Um but there's lots of good stuff decent stuff in there, anyways. Lots of bad stuff too. Like I like I tried to pick some stuff that I think I will like, but obviously not everything is good. So uh I did watch 28 years later. Um at first at first I was as the movie was going, I was kind of a little bit disappointed, but but it did I it did pick up and I'm looking for obviously I think there's another two movies that are already in the works uh as sequels to all of this. Yeah. Um so I'm interested in that. Um I I like I kind of liked how it finished, and it and it's it's got me intrigued about what's what's to come. So it that was pretty cool. Um I I think they are eventually going to bring in Killian Murphy. He was the in the original movie like 20, whatever, three years ago or whatever. I I think they are eventually bringing him in as bringing his character back, obviously 28 or however many years later we are here now, but uh so that'd be kind of cool.
SPEAKER_01Um the next one is called I think it's coming out in January, I think. Yeah, uh the Bone Temple, 28 Days Later, the Bone Temple, okay. 28 years later, the Bone Temple. And they touched on that in the ridge, like that Temple of Bones. That I mean that was fucking pretty cool. But um uh I'm I'm kind of indifferent on that ending though, because you get that group of guys who like all a neon jumping around doing things. I thought that was a little weird, but obviously it I hope it plays well into this or whatever happens. So yeah. Um see what happens.
SPEAKER_02Uh what else stood out for me? Uh Blackphone. I don't know if you watched those movies. The first one came out in 2021, the Blackphone 2 came out this year. Uh, Blackphone, the first one, was excellent. I I really like that. I I um that was probably is it the my favorite on the entire list? I would probably say so. There were two actually. So Blackphone was really good. Uh Weapons was really good. Weapons is a new movie. This came out this summer, I think. Um I I I don't know if you've you've seen it, but it's actually I watched that weapons. I I I really liked that movie as well. It was it was pretty good. So yeah, I think those two stood out for me. Um yeah, again, there's some shit in here. Megan, the first Megan movie was good, the second one, the sequel, was just shit. Just awful. I I didn't like that one at all. Um Us was a really good movie. Together was a really good movie. It was kind of fucked up, but it was pretty good. Um yeah, even Eden Lake was really good. That that movie kind of surprised me. I didn't think it would be as good as it was, but that was good. So gotcha. Some of them I had seen before. I had seen Birdbox before. I think why the reason why I wanted to watch Bird Box again is because I watched it in uh HDR with Dolby Atmos. So that was pr that was pretty cool. A couple of these I saw uh in HDR, so including 28 years later. So anyway, perfect. Um some good stuff, some average stuff, some a couple bad ones on there too. But check out the list on the website, it's already up and let us know what you watched.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, go ahead. I I ended up watching um all the conjuring movies again for Halloween.
SPEAKER_02I wanted to do that too, and I never got to them.
SPEAKER_01I just just cool. There's the fourth one that Last Rights just came out. Yeah. Uh so watched all three and the fourth one last rights, and then we also started watching the screen movies again.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01So I got two more screen movies to go because the scream seven is coming out in February in the theaters.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, because they brought back um oh both. Nev Campbell. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yes. So they agreed to some they probably realized that the last movie was shit without her, so decided to pay her what she wanted for this one.
SPEAKER_01So as they should. I mean, fuck it's like uh she's I agree, yeah. And I think Courtney Cox is back, and uh so I mean that's cool, yeah, for sure. But it was uh it was awesome, you know. Sydney Prescott and the gang and the Scream Universe is still pretty fucking cool.
SPEAKER_02It should be. I wonder what the if they're going to be able to do anything different or what. Yeah, I guess we'll find out. Because there's the new I I also on my list, there was the new I it was a sequel of I Know What She Did Last Summer. Yeah, did you watch that? Same title, but it but it is actually kind of uh how many years later, right? So I did watch it. Um I mean it was okay, I guess. Uh I was a little surprised, I guess, by the ending and how that that kind of finished things off, but yeah um, I mean it was okay. So is it worth I gotta watch I'm gonna have to watch it? Well yeah, for that. Yeah, you watch it anyways. If you if you enjoyed the first one even the first two, I guess, because I did watch the first two original ones. I know some other sequels came after that, but then they yeah, they've continued this they've finished off the story here, maybe, hopefully, I don't know. Um with this latest movie. So check it out. We'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. A couple other movies though. I watch I rewatched Mad Max Fury Road in HDR and Dolmy Atmos. Isn't it such a fucking badass? What a great movie. Yeah, and it just looks so good. It looks just fantastic. Fun movie to watch for sure. Yeah. Uh another fun movie though, and I was I've been wanting to watch this for a while. The reason why I'm watching it now is because there is a sequel coming out, maybe in a couple weeks, I think. It's coming out soon. And that's called the name of it is Sisu. Yeah. It's a Finnish movie, although it's all in English. But I mean it's it's Finnish made, but everything, all the all the speaking parts are uh or at least most of them are in English. But it's such a good show, man. It's so entertaining. It's it's a lot of fun. It's yeah, it's uh I mean it kind of reminds me of the it takes place at the end of World War Two. Uh in Finland. Um you know, I think the Germans have realized they've they're losing the war and it's probably almost over, but they are still you know, causing havoc across across the country of Finland. So um it's it's I I don't know. I'm trying to think of is it kind of a a John Wick um World War II era or or something like that, but it it's just it's it's really similar in a lot of ways. It's just you know what, you gotta watch it.
SPEAKER_01You gotta watch it. It it wasn't on my radar and once saw um Predator Badlands uh last week, yeah, and we got Sinsu The Road to Revenge, yeah. Yeah, uh so I didn't even know there was a first one. My dad's like, Oh yeah, I watched this a couple months ago, it was awesome. Like, oh fuck. Yeah, so yeah, so that one comes out uh November 27th.
SPEAKER_02Okay, got it. So check out the first one though. Again, I watched that in uh uh on you know it sounded great, it looked great, it was just a fun movie to watch. And uh it's funny, the the lead character, um he's a badass, and he he has absolutely no speaking parts in the movie until the very end, and it's just and it's just kind of funny, but uh but yeah, yeah, it's really cool, really cool film. I'm looking forward to the sequel. So and I also lied, it's uh November 21st. Okay. Don't lie again. Don't lie again. Sorry, bad. That's next week already. This week coming up. Yeah, all right. Uh you know what? A bunch of TV and stuff in there. I won't even get into everything. Um I will say that I'm disappointed with the Alien series. Uh I did finish the end, but I'm I I'm I'm kind of disappointed in it. It looked good, but I just I don't know, there's some stuff about it that I just didn't didn't really like.
SPEAKER_01I haven't watched it yet, it's on the list. So does it like if the first couple episodes were supposed to be really good, then they go downhill from that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think so. Yeah. I mean it finished okay, but but I mean overall, I just I was expecting more. I don't know why. I just yeah, I was expecting more. Um what you need to watch is Mobland. If you haven't watched it already, watch Mobland. Oh fuck, man. What a brutal series. Um it's about a about a mob family or a couple of mob families in in the UK. Um some big stars in it. Pierce Brosnan, uh, Tom Hardy's in it. Uh it's a great, great TV series. Uh, I think I'm sure there's a season two already lined up. Uh check that out.
SPEAKER_01See, I have a like I think we talked about this before, but I have a problem watching a TV show if it's not like three seasons or more because you get so invested in it and then you they end it and you get fucked. So, and I hate that. That happened for me for uh uh Terminator the Sarah Chronic the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I fucking love that show that it ended. And there's a couple been a couple more that's been like that too, but uh like dollhouse. I love dollhouse. Remember dollhouse? Yeah, um, same kind of thing that happened for that. There's been a couple of them, but I do have to watch Mayor of Kingstown. I do have to watch that one's uh Sylvester Stallone. What's that one called?
SPEAKER_02Um yeah, uh what is it called? It's it was right in front of me. I noticed it this morning here, too. Um oh shit.
SPEAKER_01I got a Sylvester Stallone. Uh what the fuck's that called? Um yeah, because I it's supposed to be good as well. It's in season three, I think, already, isn't it? Yeah. And there's a bunch of guys who um who are talking about it a lot, which is is sweet. So yeah, I'm I'm super stoked. I guess I just need to watch just enough time in the fucking day. Yeah, there's so much. I'm behind on every yeah fucking show. But it's Tulsa King. That's it. Yeah. Yeah. And there's series three now, I think, for that. Yeah, it's out now.
SPEAKER_02I think it's it's uh early on season, whatever season it is, it's early on. A couple episodes in, I think. So um I get I get I get you're you're being pissed off if you become vested in a series. I mean, some some series are just they they run their course in one or two seasons and they end as they're supposed to. Um yeah, you don't you don't like to s to spend time and have the production company call it quits or these networks saying, uh, well, I'm not gonna renew these anymore because they suck. So uh so I get that. But um yeah, there's there's some stuff that's really good. IT Welcome to Dairy is another one. It's obviously based on Stephen King's uh book. Uh I uh I'm into that now. I think it's three three episodes have come out, so that's really good. I I'm into I'm into that sort of thing, obviously.
SPEAKER_01So also um the movie in theaters, uh Now You See Me. Did you ever watch those? Old school magic, it has uh Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher. Uh no. There's a new one out in theaters which is getting great reviews, but uh one of parts one and two are on Netflix right now, if uh you're into that kind of thing. So yeah, I give that a watch for sure because they're kind of cool magician movies. Okay. It's kind of outside the box, but uh the third one came out on Friday, so I'm gonna try to go catch that in theaters this week if I if I can. But again, there's not a lot, not a lot of time. Nope, that's always the problem. Always is. We're losing. I'm losing the battle here, Steven. I'm losing the battle. Okay, well, it happens to all of us. I know, I know. But uh speaking of time, I gotta get rolling here. Is there anything else you want to cover? That should do it, man. Good chatting with you, always. We'll try and do it too. Two hours is just gone.
