Okay, let's clap ready? Okay. Three, two, one. Click that's not gonna do anything because I'm recording your screen, but whatever.
SPEAKER_00You'd probably have a better time picking your nose, but this is how you're choosing to spend your time listening to these guys. Well, at least they both love heavy metals. You're the old man, Adam and Steven.
SPEAKER_01Yes, welcome to it. This is the old man Heal Clouds podcast, and we get together to talk about the things that matter to us. We are episode number 154. As we recorded, it is May 18th, 2025. It's approximately 11 a.m. and we're podcasting live out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
SPEAKER_03Hello. Uh we would like to honor and acknowledge that the uh that we join you today from the uh traditional ancestral and unceded territory, unseated chair territory, that is, of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Slave Tooth Nations.
SPEAKER_01You know it. Uh that voice you just heard of Stephen. My name is Adam. What's happening today?
SPEAKER_03Well, uh, hey, not much. It's been a long time again, man. We always uh I think lately it's been like a few weeks. It's a six-week gap. It's a six-week gap. Yeah, so we always have a lot to catch up on and never enough time, but uh but uh things are going okay here.
SPEAKER_01Hopefully, good too. I was just looking through things. We've been doing this for six years. Six.
SPEAKER_03Has it been has it been six? It's been six years. 2020, 22, 23, 24. This uh yeah, wow, we're into our sixth year. Oh Jesus. It's a hundred and fifty-four episodes. We're still not making any cash.
SPEAKER_01No sponsors, no one listens.
SPEAKER_03Nobody cares, but hey. We're firing all cylinders over here. We we we are, and uh you know what? Who cares? Okay, I don't care. Well, well, I guess we care a little bit, of course, but uh, but hey. It's good to catch up, it's good to chat, it's good to shoot the shit because we've been uh buddies and doing this sort of thing for a long time, even before this, and uh whether it's going for coffee or whatever, COVID put a fucking cup kibosh in that, so here we are.
SPEAKER_01Shit, remember COVID? But before we get into all this stuff, uh you can support the podcast by hitting our website, oldmenhee other clouds.com, and subscribing to our podcast. And if you want to help us out, please buy us a coffee, okay? All the information is on oldmenheatclouds.com. Wow, it's like I've done that before. Uh how the how's it going, man? So um the last time we talked here en route to Alberta, how was your trip? I I see you're back.
SPEAKER_03Oh yes, see, yes, it's been that long since uh I mean I forgot about that already. So I uh had another another nice visit. Good to get to catch up with the family and uh had no time to catch up with some friends. I always want to, and I contact them and you know we try and set some plans up, but I'm always so busy, man. And then like I'm busy like every day, and then come six o'clock, I'm just fucking bagged and I don't feel like doing anything. Oh but, anyways, it's always good. Uh and uh yeah, we're actually planning another trip out there uh very end of June. So next month, about six weeks from now, I guess, we're heading out there again. Uh uh the better half is joining me this time because she hasn't been out for a bit. So we're gonna spend a week. Uh we're gonna get some friends in there this time for sure. So friends and and family, and I've always got some work to do around uh around the house.
SPEAKER_01So it'll be another busy time. That'll be alright. That's always a fun time. Bring in the better half, and she can see what's going on, and yeah. And then she won't have to join you for another six years. Yeah, something like that. Did my hasn't been that long, but anyway, yeah. I put my ship still been a while. Um I'm planning a trip out to Winnipeg. Going to Winnipeg. I don't even know where Winnipeg is. Um I'm gonna go visit our our good buddy Dale. Um, okay. I'm gonna visit him for a couple days and we're gonna go see the Deftones in Winnipeg.
SPEAKER_03Oh, cool. Well, I didn't know he was out there, or maybe you told me and I couldn't remember, which is probably true. Um little bit of both. Good good for him. Well, he's he's or she's from there, or he's from there. I can't remember. They they do have family there, I think, right?
SPEAKER_01They have family there? I think they met in the peg.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um I don't really know the the love story between Dale and Christine, but um, I think they uh someone's out there, someone's family's out there, they moved back out there. I don't I don't really know, but uh yeah, there's um I talk to Dale pretty much every day. We do um we share small day and we just kind of shoot the shit, and he's just like uh April, I'm sorry, June, no wait, what month are we in? So August 22nd, um Deft Tones are playing in Vancouver, but on that day I'm seeing ZZ Top with the old man because he wanted to go see him for his birthday and Father's Day, so I won't make that show. And he's like, Why aren't you going on? I'm gonna go see Z Z Top. And he goes, Oh, okay, we'll come up to Winnipeg. I'm like, okay. So I might go I'll go visit him and see the lovely city of Winnipeg, which apparently you can do in three hours. It's it's not very big.
SPEAKER_03I have flown through Winnipeg, so I I flew into Winnipeg. It was fucking cold out because I think it was like uh December 1st or something like that, and had a bit of a stopover before heading home here to Vancouver. And uh yeah, I think we got delayed because of snow for a little bit, and it was it was not a good time to be traveling, period. But certainly uh certainly winter peg, as everybody probably calls it. I know I do. Uh Winter peg at that time was pretty damn cold, so you should be lucky going in in the summer. It shouldn't be too bad. As long as the fucking flies don't pick you up and carry you away.
SPEAKER_01It's the uh the mosquitoes and the flies that they eat me alive. And also fuck the Winnipeg Jets, they lost. Everyone was rocking hard about them.
SPEAKER_03That sucks. Yeah, I uh I was um I was cheering them on, and um fuck the other Canadian teams. I know we're at a in a time where you know people want uh Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup because of everything going on. Uh but you know and and yes, uh maybe I should be thinking different too. But damn, I'm a I'm a diehard hockey fan. I've always hated the Leafs, and I don't like the Oilers either. So it's like like Winnipeg. I thought I thought Winnipeg could do it. I thought that they were a better team than last year. They won the President's Trophy this year, um, but they just came up short. They played a pretty good game. It was entertaining hockey though, again. And uh this is the twelfth year in a row that the President's Cup winner has not gone on to win the Stanley Cup. So they call it the President's Cup curse, and well, it's hit again this year. So I didn't know that. That's anyway, anyway. That's too bad about uh about Winnipeg and um you know it what a what a you know uh a game by Mark Scheifley. Uh you probably saw what was going on. His father passed away like morning and of course he chose to to play. Uh had a hell of a game. Uh fuck, that's gotta be tough, man, in those circumstances to get out there and and you know do your job like that. And uh he played well, and it just kind of sucks they came up short. It would have been good to win that game and head back home to Winnipeg for game seven, but not to be.
SPEAKER_01I mean, we we talked about the oilers, fuck the oilers. But did you see that game seven with the oilers? Oh yes, yes, I yeah.
SPEAKER_03Was that game seven? No, that wasn't game seven.
SPEAKER_01That was six.
SPEAKER_03Uh the last one, though the last one with uh the last one they played against Vegas? Yeah. Yeah, because they won they won that series 4-1. Oh, okay. So they um, but so it wasn't it wasn't game seven, but yeah, yeah, there was a still a couple close games there. Yeah. And uh yeah, they pulled off. So it's gonna be Dallas and Edmonton now in the conference final. Yep. I hope Dallas kicks the shit out of them. I'm I'm actually now that Dallas is where they're at and Winnipeg's out, and the other teams that are left, I'm I'm going for Dallas here for the Stanley Cup. So I hope they can do it.
SPEAKER_01And Dallas still has their uh entrance music done by Pantera. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_03The goal score game is Pantera and everything. Yeah. Did you see the game yesterday? They had uh the Pantera boys doing the uh Hockey Night in Canada spiel, just like just a little little segment. No, I didn't see that. I forget exactly what they said, you know, something like you're watching Hockey Night in Canada, or welcome to Hockey Night in Canada, or something like that. I don't know. They had a had them record a quick little a little thing. So um yeah, so that was kind of cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So and then uh of course, game seven tonight against uh Panthers and Maple Leafs. Yeah, game sevens are always rad, regardless of the team. Yeah, if it's going to a game seven, something's going right, and uh it should be entertaining and entertaining night of sports.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's been a pretty good series. Um back and forth, uh very physical. Um lots of crying, I guess, by both teams and and their fans about the officiating at times, but uh that's happens too, I guess, in the playoffs. Um yeah, anyways, anyway, so for sure. I've been I've been paying attention to the hockey and really enjoying it as always.
SPEAKER_01So did you ever sort out your hockey? Because you were with Rogers, and then that came out. So, how are you watching the games now? Is this is this on CBC, these hockey games?
SPEAKER_03Uh I think I think uh now that we're in the playoffs, yes, I think they're they're well they're broadcast here in Canada by SportsNet because they have exclusive rights here in Canada. Okay. And as you see, I've shared the last couple times that they've signed a new agreement, uh Sportsnet and Rogers with the NHL for another 12 fucking years. We have to deal with them if you want to watch hockey here in Canada, I guess. So anyway, anyway, I I am not I I I I I I think I told you that at some point I really just gave up and said, fuck it. I'm not watching, I'm paying money to Sportsnet anymore. Yeah. So let's just say, let's just say I'm still watching hockey and we'll leave it there. Sounds good. Still watching. I'm not let's just say I'm not giving Sportsnet any money, and uh that's really all this is about, and that's all anybody else needs to know. So fuck the Sportsnet. Yes. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01Um, did you we had a Plex thing? You want to talk about Plex?
SPEAKER_03Well, well, sure. Uh I don't know if you had a chance to watch that video. I know it's a little bit long, but like Plex has been doing some some like let me start off by saying Plex. I've been a big fan of Plex, I've pushed Plex here quite often, I think. And uh overall it's worked out well for me. Uh so so and no real problems for the most part, and Plex Amp, which is the it's a separate app that you use to stream your music, and it's fantastic, it's amazing. They've got some you know funky stuff going on in the background there to to really um uh really enhance your your music collection and you can play different um you can yeah, they just you can play music from the decades, you can play music of different moods. Um it's great, it's great. And and that's my main source of audio for my uh high-res system. So my DAC. So Plexamp, I've got a headless, headless Plexamp server uh that goes into my DAC out to my headphones. So I can and and it's great. Um but there's but there's always been uh ch Plex Plex is a private company. Uh they are out to make money. I have a lifetime Plex Plas, which I bought a long time ago, and it was really cheap, and and um and that's what you need in order to run a server, and and yeah, there's it's kind of complicated. We will get into that. But but um and there's also the there's there's actually three issues that number one, they are a private company, yeah. And and their software is closed source. Uh number two is uh you require a a Plex pass for certain things. I guess there's four things then. Number three is um number three is you know you you are tied, you your your server, even though you're hosting your so own server, it still communicates information to their side, to their servers, I guess. Number one is you have to have that communication in place in order to actually even run or play moot music, movies, TV, whatever. Um and number two is um they're collecting data. They're they're you know, they are collecting stats. They say that it's all a nominal uh uh anonymized uh and that sort of thing. So could I say the four things in there then ultimately? Yeah, there's no track. But anyways, so there's a the thing is oh, and now the fourth thing or fifth thing, I guess, is that they've they're increasing their prices. Yes. Which which again don't affect me because I've got this lifetime pass and it's you know it's no big deal. But I guess it's the principle of all this stuff. They are they're they're constantly changing, you know, they're they're interjecting um they're they're they're try that they have their own live TV, they have their own movies that you can watch, they have so that so you don't need to have anything on your side in order to use Plex. Um so and that and that the thing is they're trying to push all of this to all of their own stuff, right? Yeah. And and at times they're forgetting about the the real poor users, uh, of course, who pr the thing is they don't pay any money anymore because they've got their lifetime Plex pass. So they're not getting any more money from me. It's not like I have to pay a monthly subscription or anything like that. Uh anyways, uh it's come to it's come down to them you know having to have to raise their prices after not doing so for like 10 years. And again, there's always this this question about data and um you know privacy and security, and you know, what are they what information are they collecting about me and that sort of thing. So uh I think it I just felt it was finally time to explore other options. Yes. I'm not giving up on Plex. I'm not um so it's not going away. Um I'm still going to be using it, I'm still gonna be hosting my server. Uh, but I I've actually spun up a Jellyfin server. Oh, okay. Jellyfin, Jellyfin's come a long way. Um there are um yeah, it's free and open source. Yeah, you run your own server and it doesn't communicate to anybody. They don't obviously they have no way of collecting your any data about who you are, what you're watching, who else is watching, any of that stuff. Um and it and the thing is it's come so far now that it's it's a lot of people say it's overtaking Plex. Yeah in its in the in in how it works and its features, and of course just being free and open source. Um so yeah, I've just spun up that server and I'm test driving it now, and so far so good. Nice. Um we'll we'll see what happens with it. The thing is, this this has led to and and this is this has kind of progressed over the last couple months, especially. It's it's kind of progressed to a point now where I'm you know exploring other these other platforms for for doing different things. So I have now spun up a server for called Navidrome. Navidrome for me is hopefully going to replace so if I if I run Jellyfish and Jellyfin, Jellyfin and Navidrome, I don't need Plex anymore for music, TV, or movies. Wow, okay. Uh Navidrome is great so far, and again, it's all free and open source. I host everything here. Yeah. The the player looks good. They've got a uh there's a third-party, again, free and open source um Android app. I will they make apps uh for all platforms so far. I've been playing around with it. It looks great, it works well. Um and the third thing I've done is actually uh spun up a photos server or platform called Image. Image will replace Synology photos on my side, but Image is theoretically a Google Photos replacement.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was gonna ask you about that because well we'll finish your bat and then we'll go into this because that's actually cool.
SPEAKER_03So, yeah, anyways, long story short, I'm using uh I've done a bunch of things here. I'm using I'm currently using remotely, I'm currently those three platforms. Um well actually the photos, I've I'm doing it a different way, but I'm um for the other two, I'm using Tail Scale to connect to those remotely. And we don't need to get into Tail Scale right now, but it's kind of a VPN alternative. Yeah, it is a VPN, but it's it kind of replaces things like WireGuard and that sort of thing. It actually runs a version or a forum of WireGuard, but WireGuard is is kind of the the technology, I guess. Uh and you can install a WireGuard VPN server and connect you know remotely and securely to your to your home sources. Um anyway. Uh yeah, lots going on here. Um I've been doing lots of stuff with my home lab overall, and uh that's what's been keeping me busy. So it's it's been fun. Um I I like learning this stuff, and um again, it's all in the name of free open source and you know, privacy, risk, security, and that sort of stuff, right? Nobody nobody needs to know what the fuck I'm doing with my with my home lab and you know what content is being stored and and used there, right? So um anyways, it's fun. Hold on just 14 seconds. This is gonna be weird. Okay, hold on a sec. Stop 14. All right. Adam had to take a phone call. Yeah. We're not important enough. We we mentioned that earlier, right? We're you know, we're just uh a couple of guys shooting the shit. So this stuff happens where uh you know, if an important call comes through, you've got to take it, right?
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, it's work. I got bumped up to supervisor again, so I lose more of our time together.
SPEAKER_03But fuck, man. Um that work. I don't know. You're gonna you're gonna have to do something about that. They're gonna have to start giving us some money for cutting in the time being.
SPEAKER_01I hope you're gonna be looking I can't wait to play this back.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna I'm gonna call up your supervisor and and tell them that we demand some some sponsorship money here.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and I'll I'm gonna s I'll send them to them. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna send this to them. Uh take the knuckle line of it, take the knuckle live. Um okay, so uh the tail scale stuff. So the link that you sent your prep this morning, and I'm like, so it's it's an um so is it an alternative VPN? Like I I just kind of started reading it and I started reading the docs and like the blog. I'm like, I don't know what the fuck this is. So give me tail skin, like in the tail scale, tail scan. Give me tail scales uh like I was seven. So what does it do? Like what why would I use tail scale? Tailscale, yeah, over a VPN.
SPEAKER_03Well, well, you well see that's so that's the difference there, I guess. You you this tail scale is not going to replace uh things like Nord VPN or Mulvet or any of those other companies that you might it's not meant to replace those things. It's more it's more to be used as a replacement for things like WireGuard or um like like all of these VPNs use this WireGuard technology. Yes. WireGuard and OpenVPN. Uh OpenVPN is kind of older, apparently it's slower, and I think there's some security issues with it. WireGuard is kind of the technology that's used in this. Um you know what, I'm not a techie, sort of a techie guy, but uh you're not a techie?
SPEAKER_01Fuck off. I'm using wire guard, tailspin, and a music, all this shit. Okay, well I have a pie hole.
SPEAKER_03I understand it. I'm not always uh completely accurate, that's what I'm trying to say. So because I'm still learning lots. So so it's so, anyways, it's not meant to um uh it's not if if I uh let's see, how can I say this? Um if somebody wants to download something uh maybe that they shouldn't be, they should be using a uh a VPN like Nord VPN, yeah, or like all of those things, right? But for securely connecting to your home servers and um that technology, you can use uh any VPN software, uh I guess. And um it's it's more for you know seamless connectivity using any device, uh no special hardware, no firewalls or anything like that, right? Well that at least that's what that's what Tail Scale is. Okay. Because it's that's what that's what that's what's so good about Tail Scale is that it's so easy to use, and that really anybody can can get it, uh, get it up and running in no time. Because again, there's no extra hardware, no no no fucking around with firewalls or anything like that, right? So uh you just uh you know set up an account. Actually, there is no tail scale account. You use one of your other accounts that you probably have set up already. You use that to connect to the tail scale service, you install it on your devices. And basically they can all start talking to each other. Oh, see that's a good idea. Like I use Tailscale, I I use a piece of software called Rust Desk. Now, Rust Desk is a remote desktop solution. So I can I can connect to my mom's computer from here and uh use Rust using Rust Desk and uh help her with her computer problems, do stuff on the now you can add a layer of uh PPN to it using Tailscale, which which makes things more private and secure. Um so I use Tailscale for that. I use Tailscale when I'm away, I use Tailscale to connect to my home servers here. I can download files, connect to my photos, do anything like that. Oh, awesome. Uh again, all using this this really simple software. So it's meant to replace something called again, there is a even though WireGuard is the technology, there is a uh an app, I guess, and you can install the server at home, you can install the app, and it's called WireGuard. Um did I explain that? Uh yes, that was actually really well done.
SPEAKER_01That was uh for a half-tech guy, not tech guy, you did really good.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Um so so anyways, yeah, it it's it's fantastic. I've got uh I use TailScale for a bunch of different things here as I'm fucking around with my servers and and and trying to set up these different services and stuff like that. So yeah, it's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01No, man, that was uh that's really cool. And so we also you also tell because I had this in my prep, that not in your prep, but it was in my prep because I had a thought this morning while I was reading your prep. So um my I'm running out of space on my Google photos. So I pay like I don't know, I pay 35 bucks a month or 35 bucks for a year. Uh seriously, yeah. Oh no, 35 bucks for a year. Um and so to I get a hundred gigs of photos. So I'm out of almost I'm at 94% used. So to get 200 gigs of photos, it goes up to like 51 or something like that. So I have to do that. But you mentioned, so what are you using to store your photos?
SPEAKER_03Well, that's on my NAS. Oh, that's on your NAS. I still my NAS is still hosting all of my content. So my music, my movies, uh, my photos, it's all my my NAS is now, even though I still have some services running there, I've moved a lot of them off, like in particular Plex, these more high resource uh type applications. Anyways, my NAS is technically now what it's supposed to be for the most part, and that's a storage um for storage. Yeah, exactly. So I have a separate server. Well I I I I have a separate device that I install Proxmox on. I've spoken about Proxmox. It's um we don't need to get into that either because now I'm getting pretty complicated here. It's uh easy to show somebody. But it's easier to show somebody. Anyways, anyways, I have a separate server running image. And um image connects to my NAS, which is where all the photos are stored, and it basically um it basically looks like Google Photos and well and Synology Photos and all of these other uh platforms for uh so not only storing your photos but also displaying them in a in a kind of a cool way. Yeah, that's it. They actually all look the same. And I think they essentially all do the same things, right? So you know, you can build albums, you can add tags, you can add locations, you can you can share your photos from these platforms and everything. So yeah, I mean it's uh and again, it's all free and open source, right? It's not like it's not like you're stealing something from anybody. It's not like you know, it's not like you're downloading movies or something illegally. This is all free and open source. You you know, you own the photos and you can connect to those photos that are stored here at home. You can connect to them and sync your devices any from anywhere in the world. So uh yeah, it's quite nice.
SPEAKER_01It's quite cool. You know, if you're ever looking for extra money, you should offer a service to set all those people, all this shit up for people's homes.
SPEAKER_03Well well, uh yeah, yeah. But then I wouldn't have time to learn about this stuff, I guess. There's never enough time, man. Oh, never enough time. Uh but hey, it's it's if something something to keep in mind, like you said, in case I ever need some extra cash, that could be one way I way I do it. That's not bad.
SPEAKER_01That's not bad. Yeah. All right. Well, uh, you just I don't know if you're still fucking listening, but that was interesting to me. I hope that was interesting to you guys out there. Um, what else is going on? Do you want to hear some date stories? Those are always entertaining, man. You don't know what it's like. It's it's it's tough.
SPEAKER_03Well, I know, I know. That's that's why it's it's and I mentioned that. It's like fuck, it's just like it's almost nowadays that it's it's almost like it's it's not worth it sometimes.
SPEAKER_01I just I'm gonna save my money and go traveling. Okay. So here's what we got.
SPEAKER_03Take care of yourself. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I I just opened up the app hinge. Hinge is a meeting ladies or guys, whatever you want to do, but now I want to meet a nice young lady. So I open the app up and you have this interface, and you it's an X or a check mark. You like a photo and you move on. And every photo that you find is like, oh, I like to go climbing in the mountains. So this person named T likes to go climbing in the mountains. Nope. So dislike. And this little Christine is like, she says, like, I'm scrolling through it, and she goes, I live my life by the water. And then she's like, the way to win me over is thoughtful actions, quality time, and donuts. So you mean if I give her a donut, she'll like me, so I'll hit like. Done. So this is like um, like this just shit doesn't work out. So what I've been finding is I'm a pretty outgoing, easy dude. I don't actually give a shit a lot about a lot of things. I'm passionate about some things, but don't be a dumbass, be able to hold conversations, and that's all I care. That's all I care about. So I've had a multiple, like multiple first dates, and I think women need to be more understanding when it comes to first dates. Because I give you a couple options, but then they're like, no, you decide. I'm like, well, I don't know you, lady. I'm not gonna bring you to a place, the cocktail menu, and then you're gonna tell me you don't like to drink. I'm like, all right, well, do you eat? And she goes, well, I'm a pesca vegetarian. I only eat sunflowers and pumpkin seeds. I'm like, uh. I'm like, alright. I'm like, well, they have a nice rooftop patio, we can come up there, and they got a pretty good view. And then she goes, well, I'm blind in my right eye. And I'm like, I'm just like, I'm like, okay, how about this? We go up to the rooftop anyway, so they can throw you off, okay? Like, it just doesn't make any sense. That's the reason why I asked. I gave you options to accommodate you. Not because I don't know how to make a plan. I don't know anything about you. This is why I'm trying to figure this shit out. I'm just like, come, I just can't win. I'm just, I might give up. I think I might be giving up. It's just, I can't win. I just I don't know what's going on anymore. Oh man, yeah. Sorry about that. I don't know. I I learned. I mean, but everyone should. Like, this is the pain. It's the pain. I feel it, I feel it in the bottom of my heart. Like, I don't know what to do. I don't know. I'm just uh I I just I I don't know. I don't know. So that's that's you know, I've I've had a I've had a couple bombs. Like I've had a couple no shillows. I was like, come on, almost somebody got lost. Okay, cool. And here's the open at Google Maps, like everyone uses maps. Um, I was sharing the story the other day, and uh before GPS on your phones and Google Maps and stuff. Remember MapQuest?
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01And so I was telling a story about me going driving to Los Angeles to session record some drums, and then I printed out everything on MapQuest, and I'm heading down to Los Angeles to try to do that, and I was the window was down because it was a hot summer day, and all my maps fucking flew out the window. I'm like, this is where I die. I'm on the I5 and I'm gonna die. And I'm fucking where I am. I'm just like all the shit. So I made it there in a piece, but then I had to find a printer to print all the shit on my way back because I'm on the way back from Los Angeles, and I I drove it in like a day. It took me like 19 hours. Um but I was young and filled on Starbucks, which is I went to I planned out all the 24 hour Starbucks, and then I ate Subway. So Starbucks is in Subway on my way back from and to um Los Angeles. But map quest, what a time to be alive. Is that that's I can't do that. No kidding. I know we've all done that, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_03Uh we all wouldn't never want to do that again, and of course, like you said, we don't have to now, but yeah, yeah. It's just crazy. Yeah, crazy times. Uh things have come a long way. I was gonna ask you not for good. Yeah, but anyways, yeah, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Uh we talked about uh your high-res uh audio. So are you still is it still the best thing you've done for audio playback and stuff? Are you still enjoying it?
SPEAKER_03Uh I still enjoy it. I need to listen more. I uh that's my biggest thing is that sometimes I find myself not listening to uh I I mean I listen to music all the time. Yeah, yeah. But I don't see see the idea uh is for me to sit down and do nothing else and just listen, right? Yeah. And and that's and that's I guess I have to make more time for that. Because I'm at my desk all day and um I put music on in the background and it's and it's over by the see the thing is it's away from my desk. I purposely did not put it on my desk um for for that reason. Just because it's it's for me, it's meant to get away from my desk and the computer and and just go sit and relax.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Even yeah, I could even put the TV on and watch something, you know, obviously volume down and just listen to music, right? Even even the hockey game if I wanted to. Throw the hockey game on, just sit back, put the headphones on, and listen to to really cool tunes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, and that's what I find I'm not doing enough of that. Um so I have to make more time. That's that's yeah, that's what I need to do.
SPEAKER_01Uh well, I mean, uh interesting point there, because like if I'm listening to like I do the majority of my listening, well, it's 50-50. I do it on my desktop because I have like the Spose system, which is actually still really good. I've had it for like 10 years. I was it's still actually really good. But it's not cranked, so it's just on the background. If I want I didn't I do my car audio system, so that's where I listen to turn it up loud if it's a good track, and uh as I'm driving to point A to point B. But you can still multitask, can't you? You can't listen to tunes and uh you can listen to tunes and work, or is that taken away from the experience, you think?
SPEAKER_03Oh no, uh well well I could, I guess, but yeah. Uh like I do and I do play music, but not not not through not the high res music. Oh, I got you back and not with the headphones, right? That's what I I do play music um depending on what I'm doing. Obviously, I've got meetings or obvious, you know. Of course, if I'm doing something that, you know, some video work or something like that with headphones, you know, then I can't, obviously. But um yeah, it's just it's just it it's meant to it's uh it meant for me to sit back and relax. That's at least that's why I've got it sitting over there by the TV away from me. So it's just it's to go on the couch, sit back, relax, and just take it easy and and nothing else around me to disturb me, nothing, right? Yeah, just in sit back and enjoy the tunes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I uh I think we're all kind of guilty of that because I don't even do that anymore. Because even though like ther I love Thursday nights because Thursday nights is when all the new music comes out. I just like at 9 p.m. I'm just ripping through all the new tunes and seeing what's out there and and what's happening. But while I'm doing that, I'm on Reddit, or I'm looking through, you know, blabbermouth, or I'm seeing what's going on and you know, just reading the news, trying to catch up on the news and shit like that. So I'm not fully listening to the the music. And I don't know, is that is is there a time and a place where you should just be listening to music only, or should it is music now just have kind of in the background and oh this kind of catch and you go back and re-listen to it? So that's what happens as I'm going through the shit and something catches my eye, or catches my eye, like it catch like tickles my earbuds. I'm just kind of like, okay, well, then I stop what I'm doing and I re-listen to the song. So that's kind of what I end up doing, but uh it's always just kind of on in the background.
SPEAKER_03So I don't know. Yeah, and that's and I mean, and there's nothing wrong with that, of course. It's just um it's it's it's um you know, cause I because again, I can put music on at any time. When I'm sitting, I can put some vinyl on it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can I can beam some music or stream some music to my my uh sono speakers. Um and I'll do that all the time as I'm sitting here at the computer, whether it's working or doing weather shit. Yeah. But it's it's it's um it's it's it's when when the headphones are on and I and I'm cranking the tunes, uh I I just I just like to sit back and enjoy it instead of being distracted by stuff around me, right? Yeah, no, that makes sense. So that's that's why I put it where it is. And again, it's not working well out as well as I would hope uh I had hoped it would be, just because I'm not able to listen as often as I would, I guess. But uh so maybe I'll have to move it at some point. I mean, I don't know. I could do that. It's easy enough. Of course, it's a small small device, the Mac and the headphone, uh headphone amp. But um No, it's cool. Yeah, so yeah, so we'll see. I don't know. But it but still, uh still it's it was it was a it's a good it was a good thing. Yeah. I I still enjoy it when I use it. Um just gotta try and take advantage of it more.
SPEAKER_01And that's it. We just gotta take advantage of the situation. Like I'm the same, I'm guilty of the same thing. Like we should actually just sit down and listen to it. Uh, but I just there's just never enough time of the day. You know, it's just we're running out of time. And that's we're just losing it.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Yeah, exactly. And and like I said, with all my home lab stuff going on and then the and work, of course, and it's just like, yeah, there's never it seems like the days fly by and yeah, there's never enough time.
SPEAKER_01Now I'm depressed. Actually, okay, well, I actually had this conversation with someone uh a little while back. So I I am now 42, so I'm a little younger than you are, but when I hit 40, I realized that um life expect life expectancy is to when you're about 80. So I'm pretty much halfway done my life. If you live past 80, which most people do now because of modern medicine and all this stuff, you know, it's just like you if you wake up every morning now and you're not in pain, you can move around, consider that a blessing. Like if you're waking up and you're sore or something's bad's happening, or you're sick, or something like that. Like I can't tell you how many times I I woke up plugged up because I'm sick. I'm like, oh, I fucking hate my life. But you know, if you're waking up and everything's all good. So another thing that we're all wishing for now is that after you hit 40 is more time. And like we're finding it more and more and more because now that we are older and have shit in order, and um, you know, we're trying to travel more and do different things, you know, we need more time to do all this stuff. But to get the time, you have to work to get the money to do the things you want to do. So it's becoming more and more of a pain in the ass. But I guess the question is, is like, do you like well we snapshake? We don't have enough time to do any things anymore. Like, like, I mean, we we try to record the show as much as we can, but I get fucked by work or we're traveling or whatever the hell it's gonna be. Like, I'd like to do this every week, but it just it just doesn't work. So, and it's because we just don't have enough time. Um, you know, maybe if we're getting paid to make this more and more of a priority, we'd have more time for it. But right now it's pretty much just a cool hobby, which I'm fine with. But I just wish like you realized we just don't have enough time to do the things we enjoy doing. Like, and music is a thing, like we connected on music, we worked in the big, big SU tower. We fucking shot hundreds of bands, we you know, did all the fun stuff, and it's a big building, it's a big foundation of what we do. But like it's weird that you know we're running out of time to do different things that we enjoy doing, and it's it's it's very interesting when you start thinking about that stuff, but it it is, it is, and uh yeah, like you said, you're past the big 4-0 now, so downhill, right?
SPEAKER_03Um no, that that's not a good way to look at it. It's it's uh you take care of yourself and that's it. You know, it's that's all you can do, I s I suppose. So um that's that's the main thing, and it's you're only as old as you feel you are, I suppose. So um but but but yeah, the the thing is I I tell this to everybody, and I've probably told it to you before. It's like the older you get, the faster time flies. Yeah. Like, like sure, we're always busy. I understand that, but am I any busier than I was 40 years ago? Um no. I'm not. I mean I'm just doing different things. Uh and yet it's it's like it it's like I go to the office, uh well, even when I'm working from home. It's like I start working and I start pretty early, and I'm pretty busy, and maybe that's part of it. But before I know it, it's fucking three o'clock.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And it's like, holy shit, where did the day go?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then, okay, well, and then I start tinkering around tinkering around with some stuff around here. And holy shit, I gotta make some dinner, man. Like it's it's like uh, you know, it it's like we we know it's what you it's what you make of it, it's what you do. Like sometimes I complain about, okay, well, I don't have enough time for music. Or, you know, sure there's some TV shows I'd like to watch or movies or whatever it is, and there's just not enough fucking time. So yeah, I guess I guess it's all about you to make time, but because I'm sure I could probably do it. But it's it's at the same time, it's it's just like the the days go by so fast. I I I I I can't explain it. Obviously, time is traveling at the same speed, yeah. But there's something going on, maybe it's with our internal clocks or something like that. As you get older, maybe things get fucked up or go faster or whatever it is. I don't know. But um yeah, it's just it's it's strange. I I I can't explain it, but that's how that's how I feel sometimes.
SPEAKER_01So Yeah, I know it I I feel the same thing. So it's just uh it's an interesting shift of perspective.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, for sure. So um you know, and there's always something going on though, like you said, uh, in life to pull you away from maybe what you want to do or could be doing instead, or some whatever, right? So we all have to work, we all have to make some fucking money because that's just the way this world works. And uh I don't know. Is is is it a is it a no, I guess that's called uh socialism and people don't like social. Like my question is like like like like why why does the government care about money? Because they make the money, they've got shitloads of money, they can do whatever. They're talking about deficits and and all that sort of stuff. Well, like who who the fuck cares about the government of Canada's deficit? I don't know. Like as long as as long as you are caring for your people, is that all that matters? Like really? Like so you know, talking about budgets and it's like fuck just don't just give people what they want. Yeah, and why can't I get free groceries or something like that? Again, we're getting into maybe socialism or maybe it's even communism at that point, and we don't want to go there. But like you know what I'm saying, though, right? It's like and I go, I know we're taking another turn in the conversation, but welcome to our show. Yeah, it's yeah, that's what we're all about.
SPEAKER_01That's right. Bouncing around. Um well, I mean, while we were off, we had a new prime minister uh elected here in Canada, uh, Mr. Mark Carney. Um he is the current prime minister of Canada. Uh what do you think of that? What is he a member of the Liberal Party?
SPEAKER_03Well, I'm I'm uh like I I well hey, I voted for him. Okay, I also did. I'm not afraid to admit that I voted for the the Liberals and for Carnia's Prime Minister. Um I I mean I mean deep deep down, I'm not a deep, deep down when you look at the platforms of some of the other parties, I'm more in line with the NDP and even the Green Party. Like those are my I I mean I believe more about what they are, what they stand for, I guess. I completely agree. I I believe in that stuff. But uh in this day and age, and you know what, I've done it before. They call it strategic voting, is that what it's called? I have voted strategically in the past, uh, and I I admit I did it again this year because of the circumstances we're in, right? I I just I I just don't think we'd be in a good place um with PP and the conservatives. Exactly. So um so yeah, anyways, anyways, I think it's a good thing. And and you know what? I I even even though the Liberal Party now is probably the the Liberal Party is very centrist, and and in some ways you could even say the Liberal Party is kind of leaning to the right in some ways, and that's I mean that's not who I am. Having said that, Carney and his policies or his platform and what he is doing, I guess. I mean, you you listen to the guy speak. You know what, you know what? He's he's he's he's about money, he's very smart. He's a financial guy. Yeah. And I think that's going to do us some good, especially when it comes to this the tariffs and shit. People like like he's he's he's not my kind of person, I guess, because of that. Because he he probably does, he's he's probably rich. He probably has lots of money, lots of investments. So you would hope that he's gonna take us care of us little guys. I guess that's the biggest concern here is that you know he has to make sure that he takes care of the people who are not making all the fucking money like him. Exactly. And uh a lot of the other one percenters out there. Um but when you listen to him speak, like I listened to a news conference this morning, he's in he's currently in in Rome, I think, because uh uh no, where is he? He is in Rome. Is he in Rome? Where is he?
SPEAKER_01I think he's in Rome because he was talking to Putin or Putin the other day, yesterday, two days ago.
SPEAKER_03Um, yeah, anyways, I he spoke with Zelensky. I think he's supposed to speak with shithead Vance today. Anyways, what is what is it? Is it there's something it's not the funeral of the Pope, is it? No, because that was a couple weeks ago. Uh what is it? Is it the new with the new Pope, maybe? What's he's he's there for a reason. Um anyways, you you hear him speak and and you know he is he's a very smart guy. Yeah. So you know, you kinda I hope he I hope we all well, he was the obvious choice. I just think at this point he he was the obvious choice. I just hope nobody's disappointed because you know the way politicians work, right? So I mean, you know, they say that Paul all politicians are the same, and in many ways that's true. But um anyways, I hope he hope he does us some good and gets Canada out of this uh shitty situation we're in right now, with especially with America.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I agree. It's the lesser of the evils too, right? Because as you you're looking at the stuff and but he was just the uh at right place, right time guy to vote for, I think. Um yeah, we're just we're just kind of screwed regardless. I think you're always kind of screwed in politics. It just becomes uh uh like the lesser of evils, I think. I think that's the best way to do it.
SPEAKER_03Well, well, especially of where we are, right? Especially, you know, we're in North America, we are very close with the United States, um you know, or at least we have been in the past. Um you know, capitalism and all that sort of stuff, right? It's it's just kind of that's why these two parties in Canada, it's the liberals and the conservatives for the most part. Um you know, and and in the states it's Republicans, Democrats. I mean, it's the same thing, and really are they any different? And well, uh in some ways yes, and and that's a good thing. But big picture, you know, just for the fuck of it, let's let's get somebody from the NDP in here next time, right? Or or whatever. Or at least or at least you know, see that's when the NDP was like last term, I guess, the NDP had 20-some seats. They they had a voice in parliament. And I think they forced the Liberals and Trudeau to do a bunch of really good things. Yeah. Um this election was an anomaly, I think, again, because of Trump. Um and so that's why it was essential. That's why basically the NDP and the bloc dropped off the face of the earth practically, right? Yeah, for the most part. So there's really the only two parties. So now we have to depend on, and because it's a minority government again, we have to hope that uh the conservatives don't fuck things up too much and delay things that the government wants to do. Uh, I think they understand, hopefully that you know, the time around that they can't do that. Um But yeah, wouldn't wouldn't it be cool some next time I guess? Because I think again this was an anomaly. I think things may get back to normal where the other parties are going to be uh more important again. Uh yeah, but wouldn't it be cool to have an NDP prime minister? Like would that is that ever gonna happen? Is that dreaming? Is that like America? Yeah, I should have no idea somebody like somebody like Bernie, independent guy becoming president down there. I mean we we just need somebody different in there. Will it make a difference in the big picture? I don't know. But yeah, I don't know. Let's let's give it a shot.
SPEAKER_01It's all we can do. It's really all we can do. I don't know, uh I don't know if that's I mean, is it is I guess that's uh the only thing left to try, you know.
SPEAKER_03It can't get any worse, I think. Like well well it can, it can. I guess you get somebody like Trump in there and then or you or if we even keep going past that and it becomes somebody like fucking Putin. Yeah. Um I don't think that'll ever happen, but but still it's it's like it's there's some other scary places out there, and people never thought it would turn out the way it did there either, I'm sure. But here we are in the world today. And you and you know, you look at these fucking separatists in Alberta, like what a bunch of fucking idiots, man. I just I I I I I pay attention to what's going on there well because it's Canada, but also I'm from Alberta. I hate to admit that sometimes. Um, you know, the way things are going. But it's like what you know, the you know, you look at the federal election, and there were what was that uh what was the the P the CPP? The they're they're a it was Maxime Bernier. He's uh he's a separatist. Maxime Bernier is a separatist, and they ran uh candidates across Canada. What was the percentage of their votes? Like they got like 0.1% of the vote or something like that all across Canada. Yeah. It's like and they and they are basically pushed the separatist agenda. So come on, people. Like, like, do you really think you're you're making all this fuss? Do you really think Alberta's going to separate from Canada? You're going to spend all this time and all these resources and piss off everybody. Uh that's all you're doing. You're alienating people. And that's all you're doing. And you're making that's that's the that's the last thing we need right now. Yeah. You know, they these separatists, and and it's and it starts with this, even though she doesn't admit it, even though she says Alberta should stay in Canada, but it starts with the premier of Alberta. She's a dumb cow. That's all she is. She did you know, actually, she worked for chorus. She was uh like a daytime host or something in Calgary for for chorus. She was, I think, for a little bit. I have no idea. So she's what the fuck does she know about running a country or a province? Like, really? Anyway, um, you know, and the other thing about these separatists is that uh they all think that they will be guaranteed a Canada pension even if they separate from Canada. It's like seriously, is that how it works? Do you really expect to still get benefits from Canada even though you want don't want to be part of the fucking country? Really? Yeah. Like, fuck off. They can they can all take a fucking flying hike. They're just stupid. Like, I just again I just where do these people come from?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I don't know where they don't know where to find them or how they get a voice of power or or whatever happens.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and and people some people listen to them. Like, that's the scariest part is that people like Trump, people listen to them. Yeah, and people like what they're hearing. It's like, what the hell is wrong with you? What kind of fucking drugs have you been smoking today?
SPEAKER_01Well, uh speaking of a Trump, did you see what the stuff you talked about, Springsteen?
SPEAKER_03You know, I didn't I didn't know about this until you put it in your preference. Yeah, so I I obviously I had to check it out. It's like, holy shit. You know, yeah, sorry, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, but it's it's like how why why Spring like why it just doesn't make sense. So Trump posted on the Tooth social. It goes, I see the highly overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a foreign country to speak badly about the president of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music over his radical left politics, and most importantly, he's not a talented guy. Just a pushy malicious who uh supported, crooked, lighted, and most incompetent fool and the worst ever president who came close to in the country. If I wasn't elected, it would have been gone. But in sleepy gill didn't have a clue as what he was doing with springstein dumb as a room and couldn't see what was going on, or could even be worse. He's a drink of a rocker. Um, I'm gonna keep his mouth shut until he gets back in the country. That's the standard fair. That's how I see it, and that's how it goes for him. And then the next one he goes, has anyone notice since I said I hate Taylor Swift, she's no longer hot? This guy is off his fucking rocker, and this guy's running the world. I just I don't understand what's happening.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's uh have you looked in the face lately there, Donald? He's a fucking dried-up fucking apricot, an orange apricot or something.
SPEAKER_01I call him the Cheeto, you fucking Cheeto.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. That's that's a wrinkly fucking yeah. Crunchy, crusty Cheeto. Um you know, it's not like Spring this is the first time Springsteen has done something like this. Oh, of course. So why is he making it sound like he had to go to another country to do it? Because this is he's done it before and he's gonna do it again. You know, you know the scary thing about all of this though is that would Trump actually do something to him when he came back into the country? Like deport or like detain him kind of thing? Wait, well he can't he can't deport him because he's an American citizen. But but yeah, can he can he not detain him because he's doing it to other people? Who says he can't do it to to somebody who's rich, famous, and popular? Yeah, like it's like it's would he would he uh actually try and do something? Oh, it doesn't matter. But uh but it's like that's I mean that's that's what America is now. And um that's why I said things could get a whole lot worse because uh you know look at the look at the way things are going down there. Um yeah, it's uh yeah, the guy's the guy's off his rocker. And it and it's true, he's not fit for office. Not one bit. And and and why do people stand up to that? And and or why don't people stand up to that, I guess, is like people have to start doing something about it instead of just agreeing with everything that comes out of his mouth. So I don't know. Yeah, it's it's it's pretty sad. I don't know, it's just not anymore. It's just you know, every s every single day something happens with him and that country, right? Yeah. Um so I I like I don't know. It's it's just it's why, you know, it's why people are not going down there anymore. I mean, yeah, I I mean I read stats again today or yesterday or something. You know, people are just not going, they're not traveling down there. Yeah, they're not crossing the border, they're not spending their money down there. And uh and that and obviously that's a good thing, and I I fully support that. Um I mean that's what we have to do. Sure, you know, business is gonna hurt down there too, because of that. Yep. But but hey, it's not our fault, it's not our problem. You know, take a look who you voted into office, and um, you know, that's the source of the problem. So do something about him before you know you get pissed off at us in Canada for not wanting to travel down there.
SPEAKER_01It's true. As the kids were saying, elbows up. Yes. Did you watch any of that Saturday Live uh 50th anniversary stuff?
SPEAKER_03I I still haven't, you know. And uh yeah, because it sounded like it was pretty good. Just the the performances, but just the you know, Mike Myers and just like everybody who just the vibe. It was just a cool video. Just the vibe, yeah, exactly. So yeah, I don't know. Again, not enough time.
SPEAKER_01There's enough time in the day. There's not enough time in the day. Um well now since my uh since my episode is being cut short a little bit. I do want to touch on this. Did you see that news? Uh well, first, lots of them crooked vulture news. Uh first off, Queens of the Stone Edge are putting in a live album recording the catacombs. That looks fucking cool.
SPEAKER_03That looks uh that looks awesome. I mean, they just released the trailer. Yeah. Um it looks it looks really cool. Obviously, it's it seems to be acoustic for the most part, I guess, is it? Or, you know, because but they have some some other musicians joining them and and stuff. You know, you know, it it it it looks really cool. I think it's going to sound awesome. I'm looking forward to it. Yeah. Uh that that is my I don't like to regret things, but that's my number one regret about Paris and not doing something in Paris. I wish I had gone to see the catacombs in Paris. Yeah, shit. I think it would have been so cool.
SPEAKER_01Was it just not like you just didn't think about it, or you just overset your mind, or did you have it on your mind and just didn't get time to do it?
SPEAKER_03Um I uh well, number one is I would have been going alone because uh somebody else is just doesn't like those places. Yeah, no, it makes sense claustrophobic, claustrophobic and stuff. Uh number two is when we got there, we didn't I you know we didn't plan properly. Um so it was sold out. Oh, I got you. Uh we I I didn't really pay attention. I I mean I had it on my list all along, but I didn't really pay attention about tickets until we got there, and yeah, it was all sold out. So um yeah, it sucks. I I really wanted to to go, and who knows if we're ever gonna be back in Paris. So anyway. You never know. You never know. You never know. Uh so anyways, anyways, that that is going to be really cool. That comes out in June. Um, I think you can purchase, you can pre-order that now on their site. I think it was 15 bucks Canadian, I think. And um, that'll give you access to the movie when it's released and you can download it and everything like that. Um Crooked Vultures. I did not hear that news. What is going on?
SPEAKER_01Well, it does not, no, not just because it's two members. So no, yeah, well, the news of the Foo Fighters. So uh, I see, I see, okay. The Foo Fighters fired Josh Freeze, which is surprising to me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, because I thought he was a perfect fit and he kicked after the money.
SPEAKER_01It was here. Like, I see the Foo Fighters maybe ten times now, and uh obviously with Taylor was was fucking cool, but watching them with Josh, it just made him play better. Like it was just cool to watch that performance I saw them in Seattle like last August, I think it was, with Freeze Drumming, and it was it just blew my fucking mind. So the fact that they fired him, it just I'm just holy shit. But like, who are they gonna get to replace? And the rumor is it's gonna be Shane Hopkins, Taylor's son. Because did you ever watch that Dave Grohl and that the Foo Fighters tribute show that they did in Wembley?
SPEAKER_03That I that I saw parts of that. Yes, I saw him drumming uh in that in those performances. So uh obviously very capable. Oh, 100%. Um so yeah, that would be interesting for sure if that's the reason for them. It it's just kind of it's just if that's the case, it's just kind of shitty that it kind of went down this way, that's all. Because what he received an email basically that's hey, you're no longer part of the band.
SPEAKER_01Like it's Oh, was it an email or is it a phone? I think it might have been a phone call.
SPEAKER_03Oh, was it a phone call?
SPEAKER_01Well, what eit either way, what a what should you use?
SPEAKER_03It's just it's like, yeah, it still kind of sucks.
SPEAKER_01It's apparently Josh is one of the nicest guys in the rock. He's he's played with everybody. You look up Josh Fuse's discography, he's on every fucking album. Like, oh, who's the drummer? Oh, Josh. Oh, who played that? Oh Josh. Oh, who's playing them live? Oh, it's Josh. You know, like this guy.
SPEAKER_03Well, and that's why, yeah, and that's why he said himself, you know, he's not he's not concerned that he's out of work or anything like that. It's just the fact that he really wasn't told why or what's going on. And none of us know right now at this point, I suppose. But if they wanted to bring in Taylor's kid, I mean, I suppose that's uh that's a that's a good reason, I suppose, but why not tell him? Why not tell Josh Hey man, we're gonna bring Shane in and you know, hey, I know this is tough, but you know, it's you know, it's part of the family, and uh, you know, we're gonna bring in Taylor's kid, and you know.
SPEAKER_01Then at least he's like, oh, okay, that makes sense. He's I appreciate like that. That's a good and you can step away because I think he's uh class act enough to respect that decision and move forward. But be, hey, we're being we're going in a different direction. Who are they gonna get Dave to play drums and sing and play guitar at the same time? Like what the fuck's gonna happen?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Yeah, you never know. He's he is a talented guy, but yeah, not that talented. Yeah, it's it's true. Can't do both. You can't do both. Can't do all three things drum, guitar, sing. It's true. As much as he would probably want to try, and uh as much as other people would probably want to see him try, but no, that's not happening.
SPEAKER_01They'll uh use the new um hologramic uh everything will be pre-programmed and he'll just play drums live.
SPEAKER_03Great. That's all we need. I definitely won't be spending money on shows if that's the case. Oh, imagine that. Holy shit.
SPEAKER_01But you know what would be cool is that if you could do that and set it up in your living room. So you rent it, you project it, and it's right in front of your living room. I'd pay for that. You don't have to leave your house. You put a pair of headphones on and you're and you're laughing.
SPEAKER_03Well, well, that that's why like you something more realistic, and well, it's sort of more realistic. That's you you brought this up before about you know about them more commercializing, I guess, or bringing it to the masses, bringing live music to the masses. Yeah. Basically, that's broadcasting all of these shows. Like they would broadcast a show from The Commodore or Rogers Arena, right? Just like instead of instead of recording them and or instead of like COVID where they did the the all the bands did that sort of thing, which is cool. But yeah, just make it more like pay a subscription, or even if it's per show or something like that, and see if there's some especially all these big tours and all you know where they get sold out and stuff like that right away. And you know, a lot more people would want to see a show if there were more tickets available or something like that, right? So you know. Um yeah, I wonder if that's ever going to happen. I mean, it's it would be a lot of money. Uh because all of these different venues would have to be set up for broadcasting.
SPEAKER_01And uh, you know, well, they pretty much do it now because if you go to a live show now, there's the video the cameras on, like they have the video features.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So how expensive would it be to make sure you've got a big pipe, internet pipe coming into the facility? And they're just yeah.
SPEAKER_01And most of the arenas they're coming in, they are they're all set up for hockey. So they're already you have the big pipe or fiber or whatever the fuck you're using to stream it to the masses. So hit a button and hit go. I mean, it's not gonna be perfect because it's live music and it's not really mixed, but hopefully you can hear it and see it and experience it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But we should that's that's what we should be getting into.
SPEAKER_01That's the business we should do. I would love to do that. What was that piece of software we used at uh C Fox? It was the Zencaster, it was a Zencaster.
SPEAKER_03It was a it was a the the machine, or I think it was a company called TriCaster. Oh, TriCaster. Um but you know, I use I use something similar at work now. It's uh OBS is a cheap version of that, really. Yeah, it really is. It's a it's a smaller um well, it's free. Yeah, free. Uh and yet you can s but that's but that's what these these that box was kind of like a dedicated, it had some proprietary software sitting on top of Windows. Um but now the the um the box I use at work, it it I mean it is something similar, it's a lot smaller, yeah, but it runs on Windows 10, and it's just a it's just a a program or an application that you install, you buy licenses from this company, and it does basically the same thing. That's cool. You can you can do all of your broadcasting and uh you know you can bring in multiple sources, everything from audio, video, you know, PowerPoint presentations, uh images, uh lower thirds, all kinds of different graphics you can you can bring into these uh platforms and then record them, or else you can broadcast out. So um it's ba it is basically like a little mini TV um you know TV studio. Yeah. I should I should I should send you a photo of the the setup. Yeah, I would love to see that. It's basically my office now, but it but in my office I've got this setup for us to do recordings, webinars, um all kinds of shit. Yeah, it's it's we're always tinking tinkering with it, and you know, if we find some we have we have some extra money to to spend, you know, we're we're buying some stuff. You know, we've got some cool lights, we've got cameras, we've got uh a nice set sort of setup. Um yeah, it looks pretty cool. I'll send you some some pics next time in the office. Yeah, that'd be sweet. Yeah, it's it's it's a cool setup.
SPEAKER_01Um I just want to touch on this. Uh Metallica re re releasing remastered versions of all their albums. They're finally at load, so. They're re-releasing load, which is the short-haired blues rocky era of Metallica that people many people don't enjoy, but I love it. Did you check out that live version of 2x4 with Hetfield's mullet? I did.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know. You mentioned you mentioned they've cleaned up and stuff like that. In that video, he's still looking uh yeah, he's still got the long hair. Uh, side shaved and everything, but long hair on top and in the back. The party in the back. It's you know, I can't I can't believe, but uh, and I was thinking the same thing when I was watching that. It's 30 years old. Yeah. It's like, holy shit. Again, time flies. I can't believe it's 30 years old. Uh, of course, Jason Newstead is there um on base at that time. Um what a massive box set though. Like it's like it's like six CDs, it's got like no, sorry, six six vinyl, uh, fifteen CDs, like four DVDs. It's like holy fuck. Yeah. I mean, they really go all out for these um for these this remastering and these the you know celebrating the anniversaries of these of these albums. Have you have you been buying each of the deluxe box sets along the way? Like, like do you do you own them all?
SPEAKER_01I don't own any of them, to be honest with you. Oh wow. Uh that's a surprise. Yeah, it really is a surprise. I just don't know where to I don't have the fucking space. I know, I know you don't. And I don't have a vinyl player, like I I have all this vinyl that I don't even have. Like, I got all my dad's old classic vinyl. I bought some vinyl over the years, but I have no space to keep this shit. And these are big, massive sets, and they're you know 500 bucks a pop, and I'm just kind of like, okay, well, what the fuck am I gonna do with all this shit? I mean, it's cool, and I'm the fan, but I'll just put the money to go try to see them live. Okay. So that's that's that's where that's how I justify it in my head. Thank you, thank you, thank you. But uh, I I just don't know. It'd be cool to have, it's awesome. But uh and I I quite enjoyed load, and there's like there's demos of the shit that didn't make it, so it'd be cool to see the stuff that didn't make it because is it more bluesy? Is it more rocky? Like, is it like who the fuck knows? It's just gonna be cool to dive into that set. So I'm I'm pretty stoked on it. Yeah. So it should be.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it is quite a collection. It looks like quite a collection, that's for sure. Uh it's good times, good times.
SPEAKER_01Okay, anyways, let's uh let's chat tunes. Are you ready to talk music? I mean, I ready to go. I've had a bunch of shit lined up, and we always like uh while I'm looking throughout the weeks and the Thursday nights, I mentioned I I'll keep stuff aside. If I hear a good rocker, I'll put it on a separate prep sheet for us. But we haven't talked in fucking six, seven weeks. I dropped it on. This is kind of near stuff, so um I went some uh uh Nina Strauss. Nina Strauss is a shredder, she plays guitar, she kicks ass, she plays Nina Strauss band, she's a guitar player for Alice Cooper. Uh when she plays live, um well, sorry, I should back that up. Her solo albums, they have a bunch of guest vocalists. So these guest vocalists are you know uh Ander from Inflames, David Derman from Disturbed, she's got uh that lady from um what's the fuck is that band? Arch enemy sing some songs, but live she has one vocalist. Her name's uh Casey Carlson, but she plays in her own band called Deadlands, and this is Deadlands, it's a song called Limbo. It was released a couple days ago, but uh it's just it's right up my alley. Fucking breakdowns, fucking cool rifts, hot chicks, you know, I can't beat it. Um did you get a chance to listen to this? Do you feel the same way as I do?
SPEAKER_03I um I I I listened to everything. Yeah, for sure. I uh I I enjoyed it. I you know, I'm I I I'm finding that a lot of this stuff, and again, and again, it it's not bad by any means. I'm just finding a lot of it sounding the same. The same structure of music sounding the same vocally. Yeah. Um that's I mean, that's the only thing. And again, is that a bad thing? Well, not necessarily, but it's just like it it's it it's uh I I guess I I guess it's nice to hear it and I enjoy hearing it, but would I play it again? I don't know. Again, with all of the other music out there that I want to listen to and I want to get to. I don't know. Yeah, it's like can you pick it out of a lineup is kind of what you're saying. That that that's a good way to put it. And again, I I don't want to be I don't want to be negative, but that's a very good way to put it on it.
SPEAKER_01No, I I I kind of agree with that because I mean there's a bunch of shit that's kind of I mean it's there's some like I I kind of gravitate to the word this stuff because I kinda like the sound of it, but if you put four of them on in a row, I wouldn't be able to tell who it fucking was. Unless I've listened to it a couple times.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I mean I mean a lot of people would probably say the same thing about some of the music I listen to. Especially, I mean, even even some of the stuff I'm going to play today. It's like it's like some of this some of this Doom stuff, especially, it just like it just sounds uh is it is it even music? Uh it just I guess some people would say it it all sounds the same too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um and in maybe in some ways it does. Uh I'm not I guess it's I guess it's more my my flavor of music that I like. So that's part of it. But um that's part of why I like it. But I don't know. It's yeah. The same thing could be people will say the same thing about any kind of music, I suppose.
SPEAKER_01Just fucking listen to what you fucking like. Uh this is uh Halsey and Amy Lee doing a song uh for the ballerina film, which is in the John Wick universe or universe universe. Um but it's called the well, it's called Hand That Feeds, not to be confused with The Hand That Feeds by Nails. But uh yeah, this is uh this is super cool. Let's let's break into it. Um This Pounds. If you haven't listened to this on your high-end stuff, it's well produced, it kicks ass.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I'll check it out just because this is worth listening to again for sure. Yeah. Again, uh I I've never really been a big uh FNF fan of Evanescence. Yeah. Uh but but um but the music uh that this tune sounds pretty good. Is this a is it this isn't actually a John Wick movie, is it? And and Keanu Reeves is not in the movie. Is it I know nothing about this movie, so just that it's kind of an offshoot. I mean, what's what's it all about?
SPEAKER_01So it's based in the John Wick universe, and the last trailer that was put out, they they're trying to kill the character of the ballerina, and they make a call, and the very last scene of the trailer is you see John Wick coming down. So no one really knows what's gonna happen yet. Okay, but uh yeah, we'll see. Uh we'll see what happens pretty quick.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01But uh it could be cool. It comes out June the 6th, so it might be worth watching. And we know it's gonna be we know it's gonna have kind of a kick-ass soundtrack, so that's what counts. Uh so that's the hand of the feeds. Um I don't know if you're are you a fan of the new Lincoln Park singer? Are we ever a fan of Lincoln Park? No. Okay. Well, here we go. Here's new Lincoln Park for you. This is a decent song. It's called Unchatter. It's it's off the new um a deluxe version of From Zero that it actually came out on Friday, I think. But this again, again, you're talking about high produce- I'm a little bit to production. I love production stuff on it. Uh but yeah, this is uh this is alright. But we'll let that one go. A lot of people you you either like the new Lincoln Park or you don't like it. And some people were like that for Lincoln Park. You either enjoy Lincoln Park or you hate Lincoln Park. And I was in the pro-Lincoln Park camp. It came out at a good time for me, and the hybrid theory album is still one of my favorite albums of all time. But uh New Lincoln Park is out.
SPEAKER_03So when when you when you I was going through the list and stuff here, I was thinking, well, um, Mother's Day was last week. Is there a theme here that you got going on or something like that? And then the next song comes up. Oh, here we go. Yeah, anyways, anyways, it's uh it's uh like they're all female-fronted uh fronted bands. Maybe I'm trying to find my girlfriend in female front in the that's what it is. Uh okay, I was trying to figure that out.
SPEAKER_01Okay, but here we go. This the break divide. This is this is Baldwin Music 101. This song is called Her the band is called Her Last Night, the song is called Hope. Right up ten and metal core stuff. But the breakdown is just the breakdown. Oh fuck.
SPEAKER_03This should have been at the top of your list, just because it's I know it's your kind of music for good.
SPEAKER_01But again, I know you I know you like this stuff. But is it can you pick it up on the lineup?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, this this I felt I was ad-targeted with these guys on um I think it was TikTok. I think TikTok let me do these guys, which I'm more than happy with. But uh yeah, cool stuff. I actually just listened to their full distography. I started circle fits by myself, kind of monstrating my dumb. It was uh it was a really good time.
SPEAKER_03I didn't come checking in on you, making sure everything's okay.
SPEAKER_01They just they just stopped, they just stopped caring. The music's not gonna monstruating with the dumb bug, they just leave me on.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, anyways, check it out. Uh her last night, last song called Hope. Uh, can we get to the breakdown? Just the breakdown?
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01Just karma. It sounds like it sounds like as I lay dying, it sounds like Iron Maiden, it sounds like just everything. It's fucking cool shit. But uh, anyways, that's all I got for you. What do you uh what do you spit in this week?
SPEAKER_03Well, well, just just before we get to that, you did share a couple of other tunes, and I know you said you weren't weren't going to play them. And again, it was it's part of your Mother's Day theme, I guess. I don't know. But anyway, anyways, an artist, and and I'm bringing this up because these two tracks that you shared were the best out of the bunch that you that you because I really enjoyed them. I never I've not heard of this artist. I don't know who she is.
SPEAKER_01Um I had not maybe who I mean could could I have heard something in the past and just unknown, but I think this I got added because I listened to all your stuff and I we share it all on YouTube and we get different algorithms to YouTube. So after we talked last time, this came up on my recommended playlist. I'm like, oh, this is Dirgus music. So I just I kept it and I so I listened to this full album because it's it's more instrumental and kind of cool. Yeah. And I'm like, well, let me find some shit with vocals. So this is what is it? The Hedvig Molstad trio is the is who this artist is right now.
SPEAKER_03It's the instrumental track that you shared in.
SPEAKER_01So I was like, okay, well let's let's dive into this a little more. And I'm like, who the fuck are these guys? And then I saw the cover of uh Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, which is like obviously as Black Sabbath song, but it's like they kind of put their own spin on it. And it's it's it's kind of cool, but I just didn't want to share because I don't you know I don't know, but it's it's funny how these ones you enjoyed the most because it's because it's from your algorithm, I think, from the stuff that I play. So it it'd be cool to see the what songs I get this week because of the songs I listen to with you guys, which by the way, are back to your fucking nine-minute song, so I was like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_03There's there's a couple long ones in there, a couple short ones though, too. But uh but um yeah, anyways, head Hedvig Mollistad. Mollistad. Yeah, she's uh she's a prog rock uh guitarist uh from Norway, and I had never heard of her before, and uh, but I'm going to check out uh her other tunes. Yeah. Because I I enjoyed those songs, so and she's she's she sounds pretty good.
SPEAKER_01And she shreds.
SPEAKER_03And she yep, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01And she's a female, which is right up my L. There you go.
SPEAKER_03There you go. Alright, alright. I your algorithms are gonna shift because this is probably the six, and I can I'll I won't talk too much about the last couple, but these six songs as a bunch are probably the heaviest songs I've ever played together, I think. Because there's some heavy shit here. So, um yeah, so your algorithm's gonna change for sure. So you can you can thank me for that later. I'm so excited. Alright. This first song is uh I love this band from Sweden called Okay, where the f fuck is my volume here. Um This band from Sweden's called Witchcraft. I've been listening to these guys for for for quite a number of years. I forget when their first album came out. In the early 2000s, maybe. Um this is they've got a new album out uh coming up pretty soon. Where did my uh window go? This is a new track called Spirit. It's on Heavy Psych Sounds coming out in May. Actually, next week, next May. Witchcraft is, you know, they they play this heavy psychedelic 70 sounding rock and roll. Um it kind of went away for a little bit. Actually, their first album was really almost acoustic. Then the so the singer went and did a couple solo albums or something like that. But now they're back. And this is I think their first album back in a little bit. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to the album. It's it's not yeah, this is this is sound it sound just sounds so good. I just um I can't wait to hear the rest of the album when it comes out. Good stuff. Listen to their older stuff for sure. Their first three albums in particular are just fantastic. Um This is the probably the slowest, unheaviest song of the bunch. Unheaviest. If you wanna if you want to call it that, I guess. But because listen to the guitar, especially later on. It gets it gets pretty heavy. Anyway. Good stuff. Witchcraft.
SPEAKER_02You gotta listen to the whole thing.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Um right on. Uh the next one. Let's get these windows out of the way here. How many tabs? Talk about no time. I've got uh I I think I need an extra monitor. I need one more monitor would probably work here really well. Unless I get one big 32-inch monitor. Maybe I can get a 32-inch monitor. We'll see how that goes. I I don't think that'll go well. Anyway. Uh next uh next band, uh next song is called uh is from a band called Koea. Koea, this song is called Depressive Episode. Uh yeah, I suppose some of this music can sound depressing, I guess. I don't know. Uh this is this is pretty heavy doom metal for sure. Um this is doom metal. Yeah. Should I skip ahead a little bit so you can get a bit of a flavor, more of a flavor of the tune? Oh, I got a flavor, alright. I bet you did. Okay. Now, you know what? You oh, there we go. Kicked in.
SPEAKER_01There it is. There it is.
SPEAKER_03But um I don't I don't know that you're a big fan of Doom music uh or all the music that I listen to. I know. And again, Doom was something that I was referring to that some people might think it's just all sounds the same. Yeah. Anyway. Uh there's so much good stuff out there, though. Anyway. Goya, it's impressive episode. Uh their new album is called uh In the Dawn of November comes out religion. Check that out. Okay, this band this this is a band called Dead Guy. I I I know nothing about this band. Um this uh let me get go ahead here a little bit. This band apparently put out an album 30 some years ago and went away. Like, I don't know who they are, I don't know where they went, I have not I know nothing about these guys. And then this I don't know where this popped up, I don't know where I found this. They decided 30 years later to put out another album. So their second full length. Uh this is a song called Kill Fee. Um, this just stuff just rips, man. It just like in the video, check out the video, they're fucking throwing shit all over the place, and uh they got some old slapstick uh comedy from way back going on. Yeah, it's pretty funny. Yeah, these guys are f some of them are fucking older than me, I think. One of the genre looks older than me. That's pretty good. He really did. It looks like you might not have had a heart attack. And he's just fucking killing it. So uh anyway, good stuff. I uh I just I love this stuff. That's that's pretty cool. So, Dead Guy. Uh, that album is out uh I don't know when that album is coming out, so I'll be watching for it. Pretty cool stuff. Uh Candlemass. Uh I've played Candlemass before. Uh this is a cover of Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath. Oh this is on um This is on a new EP that just came out last week. I actually got a copy of it here somewhere. It's uh I love Candlemass. Um I don't think they've done anything different with this version of Sabbath, but or this uh song. Good stuff though. It's um good good solo here coming up in there, and um sounds like Sabbath. Alright. Last couple tracks, I won't uh say too much about them, because actually this band, Hell, I know nothing about them either. This is I forget where this popped up. Maybe you might know this, because they've been around for a little bit, although this is their first album in a while. Uh a band called Hell. And this is this is now this is this is the heaviest of the bunch, I think, for sure, as far as doom metal goes. Yeah. This is pretty heavy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'll give you one guess what I thought about these guys. Yeah, you probably didn't like that shit at all. Production.
SPEAKER_03Production. Well, see, see, that's see though, let me let me ask you a question here. Okay. Because because of the style of music, can you say that it's necessarily bad production?
SPEAKER_01I mean, if you're recording through a like a like a one of those old school white microphones that we used to have back in the 90s.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but yeah, but doesn't is and I'm asking seriously, does that actually what it sounds like?
SPEAKER_01Is that um I just I I I don't know if it's just the I think it I think the years of radio have ruined me because I I I really like I like this kind of old school grid. Like if you listen to my very first album that I ever recorded with my first band Mecha Messiah, the fucking production on that was garbage. I forget about reusing anymore, but we're like, oh, this is awesome. Like fucking, I go back and listen to it now and I'm like, what have I done? Uh but I guess we're learning, but I like the with the quality and stuff you can do from your phone to record and stuff now with like the plugins and the garage bands and stuff on your phone, dude. Just try to get a better kind of just give me something so I can hear. Like, I understand the doom metal, I understand the the full vibe they're going for, but let me get some instrumentation going on. Like I can't make sense of what's happening. Like I can listen to it, I can respect it, I I can see what's going on. You know, for a band like this, I'd love to see them live just to see the full to hear the noise, whatever it is. But you know, it's kind of the opposite. You listen to like a band like Ministry, you go see Ministry Live or Mashuga, you see them live, and it's just you're just getting hit by a wall of noise. So is it better live or is it better on the album? Like you don't really know until you see it live. So I'd love to see the shit live just to see what they're trying to get. Because I can't get the messages they're trying to send through the music. And I always find like with production of stuff, you can hear it and you can understand it, you can feel it better. Whereas if you get this kind of stuff, I'm not saying it's bad, but um, it's very hard to get the vibe of what's happening just besides a you know a wall of kind of noise that don't really know what's going on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no at all. Does that make sense? I get that. I appreciate that. I can understand that. Um again, you know, it's it's the style of music that could play a part in that because it's heavy, down tuned, sludgy guitars. I mean, it's it's like it's crawling along at just a small uh really slow pace. Um and of course the screaming, the screaming vocals, which you know, again, I'm not the the biggest fan of that, uh that's for sure. But um it it's it's I mean it's like it's like death metal, a lot of death metal and stuff, you know. The music is good, and and even if there's good production on on the musical side of things, some of the vocals kick in, and it's like I don't know. And this I mean, and and and some some might say that about this next song is you know, because it's it's like that. This is Behemoth. Uh this is a new song called Sewing Salt. Um I mean I mean this is this is death metal. Uh but but you know what? This is this is a death metal artist that I I've that's grown on me that I can appreciate. And yeah I I mean this isn't this isn't the the vocals are are not as extreme as some of the other death metal artists out there, I guess, but musically musically these. Guys are great. I I just uh but but I saw them back in the I keep bringing this festival up at uh White River Amphitheater many years ago and um I saw them and yeah um yeah there's something about behemoth that's uh kind of brings me in all the time. Yeah. I think I think I think some of it has to do with with you know their history um and Nurgle like like wasn't he was he not was he not charged with what what was he charged with? He they went to court about something like a long time ago. I think it had to do something with their music and their lyrics about something about the church uh blasphemy or I I don't know what it was. I think that's what it was. Um of course he's uh Yeah, you're right, offending religious feelings. Yeah, yeah. So so of course he's uh he's a cancer survivor, you know, so there's that story. Um just the theme of their music though, too, is uh just something that kind of brings me in. So uh it's definitely a band that I don't mind listening to. Yeah, no, that's cool. So that's it. That's my my my heavy tracks. So you'll you please do share what uh what it has done to your algorithm and uh how much it's changed. And uh I was gonna ask you like I said, thank me later.
SPEAKER_01I will do so. Or maybe you can thank me later because I'll introduce you to a new female fronted sludge bag.
SPEAKER_03Or well, hey, that's uh that's for sure. I that's that's what this is about. That's why I enjoy this.
SPEAKER_01Um are you a fan of Luna Shore? I have to say I'm not familiar with Luna Shore. Um so they it's kind of that same behemoth-y kind of give them up. They list or they um uh shared a new track on Friday called Oblivion, which is probably right up that new alley. So check that out after the show. It's uh uh pretty cool. A new album's coming up for them September 12th.
SPEAKER_03Uh so the name of the band again is Luma. Luma Shore?
SPEAKER_01Lorna Shore. L-O-R-N-A.
SPEAKER_03Lorna Lorna Shore.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Okay. Uh and they're coming to Vancouver the 18th of October. Lorna Shore. Lorna Shore.
SPEAKER_02Got it.
SPEAKER_01Check them out. Um listen, I know we usually talk shows and TV shows, but I have to go to work. So I apologize. We will have to get up and running at that time. But that stuff never really changes. But give me your highlight of what you've watched. Just one. What was the highlight of what you've watched?
SPEAKER_03Probably the last okay. So, first of all, I finished watching Severance, two seasons. Great show. Uh check it out if you haven't uh watched it already. It's it's makes you think uh there's lots going on. Um hard to follow at times, but yeah, it's a good show. Good show. Uh The Last of Us, and I think you're watching that too. The Last of Us season two. Um lots of violence. Um lovey stuff in there that I don't really care about. Um but yeah, good show. We're in good.
SPEAKER_01Shot in Vancouver.
SPEAKER_03Shot in Vancouver.
SPEAKER_01There you go. Uh, so I've played the Last of Us games. I haven't watched season two yet. Okay, um, so I know the big pivotal point is in episode two, which throws anyone who hasn't played the games are crushed and say, Why would you do this? Come on. But it's that's the twist, which is super cool, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they do that. But the games are fantastic. Um I'm watching Andor. Andor is the Star Wars stuff, it's okay. And then I went and saw Thunderbolts, Thunderbolts is the new Marvel movie, not bad. And then I watched a movie called Warfare. Um I don't know if you've seen that. It's an A24 movie. Uh, and it's it's pretty cool. And the sound mixing on that movie is incredible. So if you end up watching that, give that a go.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I heard it's supposed to be good. I I know very little about it, but I I I know of it, and um I've heard good things. So definitely, definitely give definitely put on your list. Sounds good. It is for sure. Real quick, are you going to see Mission Impossible next week? Yes. No, I thought it was out this weekend, but it's it's the American thing or long weekend next weekend that comes out, right?
SPEAKER_01Yep. So I've bought a I'm gonna go with my pair of roommates. Uh, we're seeing it Thursday night. Cool. Looking forward to that. So I'm gonna try to watch the last one before this one, one of these days, but I'm uh I'm all fucked for work this next couple weeks. But yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's a good idea because it was theoretically, or at least initially, it was a part one, part two, two, and even though they've changed it up now.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, it should be all right. Uh sorry to cut it short, but uh and sorry for you listeners out there. But if you have any comments or concerns, hit us up, allmenhayellclaws.com.
