Licking your freezer clean might be more productive than that. But at least they both love heavy metal. Here are the old men, Adam and Steven. Yes, welcome out to it. This is the Old Men Healing Clouds podcast, and we get together to talk about the things that matter to us. We are episode number 153. As we recorded, it is April 6th, 2025. It is approximately 11 a.m. and we are podcasting live out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
SPEAKER_01Hello. We would also like to honor and acknowledge that we do join you today from the traditional ancestral and unceded shared territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Slave Tooth Nations.
SPEAKER_02Good day, good day, good morning. My name is Adam, and that other voice you heard is Steven. Hello, Steven.
SPEAKER_01Hello, hello, hello.
SPEAKER_02We got something. It's breaking news. I mean, you're not going to know about this right away because we'll get this posted in a few days, but as of right now, we have breaking news. Steven hit the clip.
SPEAKER_01We have breaking news. Well, it's okay. Let's do it. Sending Wilson on the flank from Knight Ovechkin fair.
SPEAKER_02Alex Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer in the history of the NHL. Listen to that. So Alex Ovechkin has tied or has beat Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history.
SPEAKER_01That's right. He's broken the record. He's the new record owner of uh 895 goals, all-time leader now in the National Hockey League. Uh that was his 42nd goal of the season. Uh scored on the power play. They are playing the New York Islanders in uh in New York. Um so of course they stopped the game. Uh they had a big celebration on ice, uh, families in attendance. Um, even though it's so it's even though it's in the islanders in their home arena, um they stopped the game and it it's a big it is a big deal. It's a big deal because nobody thought that Gretzky's record would be broken. And um so so yeah, so it's huge. Uh currently at that point, um the Islanders were winning 2-1 after that record-breaking goal by Avechkin. And now I see the game is 3-1 uh Islanders. So not a good game for Washington, but certainly a big day for uh Alex Ovechkin. Yeah, his family, his his wife and kids, his mom and dad were in attendance. Uh, of course, Gary Bettman, owner of the Capitals, like it. Yeah, it's a big deal. So uh was Gretzky in the audience. Oh, sorry, Gretzky and and uh his wife, lovely wife, were there as well. So they came out onto the ice and everything. So yeah, so yeah, it's uh uh it's it's uh it's huge. He scored uh Ovechkin scored two goals yesterday in the hockey game, and that was of course to tie the record yesterday, and now yeah, he just broke it. So the guy's on fire. He's on fire.
SPEAKER_02He's 35, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's sorry, how old? He's 39, I think. Yeah, yeah, something like that. Yeah, I mean, he's yeah, he's still playing at a very high level. Uh, considering too, he was injured for part of the year, and like he was out for what, four weeks. Uh, I don't know exactly how long. Um he was out for a while, and so that everybody thought at that point that no, there's there's no way that he's going to be able to score all these goals and break the record this year at least. Uh well, yeah, it's it's happened. He he uh I mean how I don't know how many years he's been playing in the league now. 20, I'm just guessing, somewhere around there. I think he now has the most 40 plus goal seasons in the NHL.
SPEAKER_02So that's awesome.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, definitely. I mean, it's a different game today, but definitely one of the greatest offensive players in the in in all of hockey. So yeah. Uh we do have this is um we do have some audio from from Wayne Gretzky. This is from yesterday following the uh record uh tying goal. So let's have a listen.
SPEAKER_00You know, when I was breaking Gordy Howe's record, he was there, and I said two years ago that if Alex gets close to my record, I'll be here. That's the National Hockey League, right? From Bellevo to Howe or Lemieux, Messier, you pass it down, and I hope, and you guys might not believe me, if somebody breaks Alex's record, I hope Alex is there to shake his hand. Uh, but right now I hope Alex enjoys it, and he deserves all the credit and accolades he's getting. But the game is my life, right? I'm a Canadian who played lucky enough to play in the NHL, and everything I have in my life, from my family to my friends to my memories, is because of National Hockey League. And I tell kids who get drafted all the time, work hard, Gordy Howe told me, have fun, and you're gonna love it. There's no better job in life than to play in the National Hockey League.
SPEAKER_02All right, the great one, the great one, the great one.
SPEAKER_01I mean, yeah, there's no denying he was one of the, if not arguably, the greatest player. Um, yeah, I I may disagree, but regardless, um is he a great Canadian? Okay, we're we're not gonna get we got into that last time. So uh you know, you know, one thing I have noticed about watching him or listening to him speak recently.
SPEAKER_02What's that?
SPEAKER_01He does remind me of Donald Trump.
SPEAKER_02The great one? Grats.
SPEAKER_01Yes, he does. He does. I think he's been living in America too long.
SPEAKER_02Oh shit.
SPEAKER_01And he's been hanging around Trump too long, I think.
SPEAKER_02So okay, well, we'll leave him there. But he does he can't deny the talent and the uh I guess pizzazz that he brought to the game.
SPEAKER_01Well, he he definitely grew the game. I mean, he he especially in the United States after he got traded to uh to Los Angeles, uh, he grew he he's he's one of the most or biggest reasons why America is now such a a hockey state, uh certainly down south, you know, especially in these in these cities and and states like uh Los Angeles, California, Florida now, obviously, and uh yeah, he's he is a big reason why hockey has grown in America.
SPEAKER_02That's awesome. That is awesome, chossum. Um yeah, well, congratulations, Alex. Um, I'm I'm just happy it wasn't an empty netter. Imagine getting your you're beating your out on an empty netter goal. What a what a disappointment. So I'm glad it wasn't a power play and it was cool and yeah, all that stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's true. I mean he I'm sure he scored uh uh a few empty netters, excuse me, but um, but yeah, I don't uh I don't know how many, and you're right. It's it's good that a record-breaking goal like this is uh going to be at least a little bit more memorable. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh I went to the Canucks game. Uh I saw the Canucks get the shit kicked out of them by the Seattle Kraken.
SPEAKER_01That was oh wow, that was yeah, that was a big game on the weekends, was it? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It was a Wednesday, it was uh Wednesday night. But I had great seats. I was second row from the ice.
SPEAKER_01Oh, cool. I've never been down that low for a hockey game.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you gotta go. You gotta go see the Bruins down that way. It's it's a good time. But uh yeah, it's just cool. You get to see how fast they move, and it's just you get to hear them shit talking each other. Like it's it just makes for a better experience.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Maybe someday. I know tickets are obviously pretty expensive, but uh maybe someday I'll get down there and uh be able to check it out. Um yeah, Canucks Canucks are still fighting for a playoff spot. I know they're they're they're shitting the bed some games, and then they play a couple really good games and it keeps them hanging around, but I just don't know that they are able to do it. I mean they're close, but they've got uh they've got they're fighting for a spot with Calgary, they're fighting for a spot right now that's being held by St. Louis, I believe. Yep. Um, yeah, and what is there? There's just like a handful, a half dozen games left, something like that.
SPEAKER_02So they won yesterday. They need to win the next three in the row to make the playoffs. And Minnesota has to keep losing. And uh, but I think they won yesterday too, or the day before. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well, minute Minnesota plays today. I know that. Oh, say I see now. Yes, you're right. Uh St. Louis has bumped on top of uh Minnesota, and yeah, so those those are the two wildcard teams right now. Uh Minnesota is in eighth spot, last wild card with 89 points. Calgary is next with 85 points. Vancouver is 83 points, so there's only six games left for Calgary and Vancouver. Vancouver, Vancouver has to, you know, you may as well say that they have to win out because they are only six points back of that last spot, but again, they're they're fighting Calgary for that spot. Calgary's got more points. Uh, yeah, you might as well say that they have to win out in order to have a chance. So they have to win, let's say five of the last six games. Yep. How's that?
SPEAKER_02Well, they already lost one, they lost the game I was at, so they're fucked. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh well, and at least at least, at least your team still has a shot. Uh, the Bruins just kind of really shit the bed so much this last part of the season. I don't know what happened to them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, I know they've struggled this season, they were hanging in there, uh, even in the new year here. Um, and then and then they just, yeah, I don't know what the hell happened. They just started losing bad. And eventually come trade deadline, they they trade away, traded away a couple of key pieces, uh, some offensive players that would have uh you know certainly would have been helping them along the way, and that didn't help. And they yes, they continue to lose. And I mean they have now dropped to holy shit. I'm just looking at this now. They have dropped to in the in the eastern conference, they are tied for last with the Philadelphia Flyers. Oh, that's that's that's brutal. Only let's see, only three teams have less points than them now in in all of NHL, and they're all in the Western Conference, San Jose, Chicago, and Nashville. Interesting. So it's been uh quite a turnaround season because us Bruins fans have not uh we're not used to this recently, you know. We're used to our team being certainly in the playoffs most years, and of course, probably being uh high in the standings most recent years, right? So yeah, this is this is quite a disappointing season. So let's move on before I start crying.
SPEAKER_02Don't cry, don't cry. I went to In Flames the other day, that was fun. Oh, okay. Um uh they're at the fabulous Conwater Ballroom. Uh, they're on a massive tour, they're playing with Machine Head. Uh there at no Vancouver dates for that gig, but the closest date to us is in Kelowna, Kelowna. Yeah, no, Kelowna? Yeah, I think it's Kelowna. Yeah, I think so, yeah. Uh, and that's the end of May. But their Machine Head were here last January, but they have a new album coming out April 25th, so they'll be on tour supporting that, I think. Uh, well, obviously. But uh yeah, no, that was a great show. They opened with Cloud Connected, which was fucking awesome. It was packed, it was like there was good energy in the room. Um, but you know, we talk about it all the time constant etiquette and what's happening. I was usually where I am, Commodore Ballroom, big, big open floor, great sounding room. I was by the second post, it's my usual spot, and then uh the pit opened up and um I got swallowed by the pit for a minute, and I got right to the barrier for a second, and then there was this fucking fat bitch who I just kind of like I was behind her, and she's like, You are in my space, and she started elbowing me in the fucking chest. I never wanted to hit a girl so hard in my life. Uh, I'm like, I'm sorry, I just got pushed here. Like, I tried to get out of there as quick as I could, but you gotta have to go with the thing. She ended up hitting a guy behind her, and the guy behind her dumped her beer on her head. Oh, no way. It was awesome. I was like, karma, and I kind of got bumped out of the way and moved back to where I was originally. But again, that's what it's ruining consciousness, and we've talked about this numerous times is fucking dumb people like that. It's not your space. Like, I'm not trying to force you out of your space. I get it, but I it's not my fault that when a song is moving and you're going in it and it just kind of happens, and you get pushed to the front of the row and shit hits the fan, and yeah, I wasn't disrespecting her, I wasn't in the wrong, I don't think, but whatever. She got instant karma, which was kind of almost better.
SPEAKER_01Was she uh did she turn around and try to try and clock you, or this guy was she was getting bumped by this person?
SPEAKER_02Because it was just it was one of the uh it was Take This Life, so it was a pretty heavier song. So it was just the whole crowd just went. It it just it was it was cool, awesome energy in the room. But yeah, the whole crowd just went. So as it was just a fluid move. So I was only there for about 30 seconds. Uh, and then as I moved, she elbowed the other guy because she thought it was me, and then it wasn't me, and then bada boom, bada bang, beer on your head.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know. That's uh it's just it's just brutal. It's it's kind of it's kind of sad that you know, yeah, you're going to see shows and you're enjoying the music and you know, trying to have a good time and stuff like that, but it's just seems like every single time you go and and then you come here to talk about it, something went down, and it's just kind of ruins the night. And uh yeah, it's it's too bad.
SPEAKER_02Um, the you know what, so I I was doing the math. I've already done nine shows this year.
SPEAKER_01Nine shows. Wow, wow, yeah, and it's only three months, nine shows in three months.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, uh well, four months that's pretty good. April 1st was in flame show.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, still that's really only anyway.
SPEAKER_02So out of those nine shows, I've only had the one negative contract experience.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02So I mean it's not too bad. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Oh, I've done ten shows. Ten shows. Yeah, okay. Yeah, so I've I'm I'm going. Have you decided on the uh what are you going to? Are you going to the Viagra Boys still?
SPEAKER_01I I don't know. I'm toying with that. I don't know yet. Um I haven't checked tickets recently because that second show got announced. We talked about that. Yeah. So they were 60 bucks uh standard price or regular price. I I haven't decided. So uh the only thing we have tickets for is Neil Young. Yeah, that's gonna be awesome. Um I keep watching nine inch nails tickets, but they haven't come down or anything, and I don't expect them to come down at all if they do at all until you know, like just before a couple days before the show type thing. Yeah, so I'd like to go to that, but again, I'm not paying 500 bucks for tickets. So yeah. No, it's yeah, nothing else. Uh actually, there is there are a couple shows this week that I would like to go see, but I don't know. Like um, like Warbringer is uh they're a thrash band that they've been around for quite a while. They're playing, they've got a new album out, which is actually really good. I've got a song coming up uh from that album. Uh they're playing the Rickshaw on, I think it's Wednesday night. Uh, and also the same night uh at the wise hall is a band called Early Moods. Uh, I think I've played some tunes by Early Moods here before. Um yeah, they're just there's a they're a good uh heavy rock, psychedelic rock band, early moods, anyways. They're pretty good. Uh anyways, those shows are coming up. There's some other things, but Clutch is coming again. I know that. Uh Might Honey, a bunch of other bands, but yeah, no, no other tickets at this point.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, I mean, can't fuck with Neil Young. I think that's arguably that's the biggest show, one of the biggest shows, or the I would say one of the biggest show of the summer.
SPEAKER_01Well, well, probably in in in I guess if when you're talking about the status of who Neil Young is, I suppose. Yeah, obviously it's at Deer Lake Park, so I don't know how many people that that will hold. But um, you know, I probably wouldn't even go though if I wasn't for the the better half. She's never seen Neil Young Young before, and she really wants to go, so that's why we're going. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't go to that either.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's all right. Whatever. But yeah, you gotta get to nails. Did you see the with tension tour? I think that was the last time they were through. 2005-ish. I think it's been 20 years.
SPEAKER_01Has it been that long? No, they've been here since then, haven't they? No, two. Maybe seriously, yeah. Well, I went to that show then, I guess, but I didn't seriously 2005. 2005. Oh, wow. Because I saw um we talked about this before, I think, and I of course I can't fucking remember. But I saw, didn't I see nine? Didn't nine inch nails come in 2000? And that's when a perfect circle opened for them. Is that correct?
SPEAKER_02That's what I meant to do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I saw that show because I was still living in Calgary. I came out for that, but yes, I saw them again after, so it must have been that 2005 show, but I can't fucking believe it was that long ago. I thought I thought it I thought it had been since then.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I lied. Okay, for the show Trent Restor and Company's first appearance in Vancouver since 2013. So what were they doing here in 2013? I don't even remember that.
SPEAKER_01I don't even know which album. Maybe that's the the the tour that I saw then, because I have seen them twice here in Vancouver. So anyway, anyway, I'm gonna try try and go, but I don't want to fucking go broke by just for a ticket.
SPEAKER_02So it's tough. It's tough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, it's it's you know, it's yeah, that's a lot of money. I mean, I ended up spending a lot of money on that Judas Priest ticket down in uh down in Vegas because uh well, partly because of the exchange rate, of course, just suck so bad. You know, I think those tickets ended up costing like 420 bucks each or something like that. Um, so that's that's probably the most, well, that is the most money I've ever spent on a concert ticket. And hey, that was a one-time thing. That's just because, hey, my birthday, big birthday, going to Vegas. Um you know, so I did it for that, but it's not something I normally would normally do to do.
SPEAKER_02So anyway. I uh I respect that. I am fucking I so I like Nine's Tales is one of my top three favorite bands. So I'm seeing them here and I'm going to Seattle to see them. Yeah. But let's talk about the states right now because uh the shit is a good thing. Yeah, because they're everyone's advising you not to go to the states, not to do this, not to do that. Um the biggest thing that I've I don't know, correct me if I'm wrong, but now they're uh they're just gonna find all the fucking shit I found. They uh oh, because I had to reboot to set the audio, I lost all my tabs. Oh no. I'm like you, I have tabs upon tabs. Okay, here we go. Uh so it says Canada update travel advisory to warn off U.S. board officers to protect the search of electronic devices is the main headline. So from what I gather, this they have the right to search your phone. So have you known anybody to get their phone searched when they've crossed over?
SPEAKER_01I have not known anybody or or anything. No. So yeah, the answer is no. Yeah. Now the thing to the thing about this is they have always had the right to check your digital devices. Uh with everything going on now, uh, the chance of them doing this is a lot higher.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um and I think I think it's I mean, if you look at the stats, the number all along has been very low. I and I and I don't have the number in front of me. It's the number of people who have had their digital devices, whether it be laptops or smartphones, checked at the border, is is like I think it's is it less than one percent? I mean, I think it is. Yeah, like it's very low. However, I think ever since Trump came back in, I think that number is going up. Is it still low? Probably, but I just think it's it can it can happen so easily. It can happen, you know the way those border guys work. I mean, you know the way they they are. They can just they can be having a shitty day and just decide fuck it. I'm gonna screw these some Canadian over today, and I'm just gonna fucking make them wait and check check his phone and see what happens, right? That's that's all it needs to be. Yes, they are legally supposed to only be allowed to do this when they feel that there is something off, like there is something hey, there's just as an example, there's something about you, and I'm not don't mean you, yeah, but there's something about you that um uh is suspicious, and and of course it's all about security, right? So if they just have the slightest uh thing to set them off, they're going to uh do whatever they need to do, or and they can do whatever they want at that point, right? And you can't really say no. That's so that's the problem. You can say no, and a couple things can happen. They can tell they can turn you around and say, Hey, you're not coming back in, go. Home, they can detain you. That's the scarier part, though, right? Yeah, they can detain you, and they can detain you as we have seen here, and as the links I've shared, and uh and everybody I think has probably heard about some of these things that have happened. They can they can detain you for days.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Now, typically there's other circumstances involved, like um like bad paperwork, not bad paperwork, but incorrect or paperwork or incomplete paperwork, you know, for visas and all that sort of stuff. But they can detain you for days, and the conditions that they keep you in are just fucking awful. Um, so they can they can do all these things, of course. You can say, okay, well, you can search my phone and you can agree to it, and then hope they don't fucking find you bad mouthing Trump, and then they can detain you for that too, right? So so it's really fucking it's it's it's really fucking scary what's happening. So not only do we have this trade war going on where people should be staying home or traveling in Canada or at least avoiding the United States, so avoid travel, avoid products from the US and all that sort of stuff. But now if you do take take a chance and go, well, who knows what the hell is going to happen at the border? Um, and it doesn't even need to be at the border. There was another story. Uh, it was it in some of the stuff I shared as well. I think there were these musicians from uh from back east who were just traveling down the highway and they got pulled over by a cop and they ended up getting detained. Yeah, and I think uh they were yeah, there were musicians, I think, and I don't know what the I don't know what happened if it was again bad paperwork for for their tour or whatever it was, but they ended up getting detained as well. So it's pretty fucking scary. You just don't know what is gonna happen. So I don't you know what I at the end of the day, I don't know why people are traveling down there anymore. I really don't. And I know you're going, and I'm not again, I'm not giving you shit. Well, in a way, I guess I can't, I guess I am, but but I mean, why are people doing it? Because the stats have shown that the number of people crossing the border and going to the United States has diminished significantly. Yeah, a lot of most people are not going, they're just not going. Uh, I've got family who are going, and they were all booked their trips after Trump came in, like it was this year and stuff like that. Even with all this bullshit going on, they've decided that they're still gonna go to the United States. And I I I mean, I haven't talked to them about it. I'm not going to talk to them about it. Uh, yes, at the end of the day, it's their business and they can do whatever the hell they want, but I just I I I have a hard time understanding it. I really do. I don't get why people are doing it. I don't, I really don't. We should all be sticking together and supporting Canada, and um, you know, because every single person that goes down there is supporting the economy of the United States, and that's the least thing that we want to do at this point. Um, that's just how I feel, anyways.
SPEAKER_02You know, no, I uh Cheeto's ruining everything up down. I hate that guy, and it's just uh it's unfortunate what he's doing. And I mean, we're not gonna get into it. We talked about it all the time, but he's like, I don't know if you've watched any of the news conferences or anything the last couple weeks, it's just been brutal.
SPEAKER_01It it is, it is, and you know, and again, throw in this bullshit that's going on with Greenland still. At least he's cut the rhetoric about the Canada and the 51st state and that sort of stuff. At least for now, he's cut that out. Uh, but still, he's still going after Greenland, he still wants Greenland. Um, I haven't heard anything about Panama recently. Um, I just yeah, yeah, I I don't know. And and and here's the here's this really, you know, people still take him seriously, and I don't know how they do because you know I watched the news conference uh on Tuesday. Was it Tuesday with the latest tariffs? Yeah, where he just threw tariffs on every single fucking country on the planet. Yep. He see the funny thing is, and he brings out his big fucking chart with all the all of the um all of the countries listed and how much each individual country was going to be taxed. And and and you look at some of the countries and territories on that list, they don't even have any fucking people living in those fucking islands and territories. Somebody made a comment, and I forget which territory it was. I think it's a French colony just off the coast of uh Newfoundland. So it's it's not a country, but it's kind of controlled by the French. So I think France has been tariffed, and I don't know what percentage, 25% or something like that, or whatever it is. This country, even though nobody is fucking living there, no trade goes in and out, certainly none from the United States goes in out into this little fucking island, and they're getting fucking taxed. Uh, somebody made a comment oh, there's probably more penguins on this fucking island than there are people. That's probably true, at least with some of them. Like, it's just like, what the fuck is he doing? He and if like how how can you just look at that and and hear him talk about things and do these things and take the fucking guy seriously? Yeah, well, I mean you have to take him seriously because look at what's happened. Look at look at where we're at. Yeah, but at the same time, uh why does why does everybody like again how how can anybody support him? Really, I just I I just I shake my fucking head. I just I don't get it. It's true. So um and then and then sorry, one more thing, and then you've got some dumb cow like uh Danielle Smith in Alberta who who who is you know all of the premiers should be on the same page, and most of them are. And uh then you have her who's traveling down to the United States and promoting promoting Alberta and promoting oil and gas and basically saying things that are contrary to everybody else, certainly all of the other political leaders here in Canada. Um she she is she is is uh yeah, yeah, she's just taking this in a different direction. And I don't understand why. Yes, I understand she wants to protect Alberta and the people of Alberta, and of course, oil and gas is the big export going down in the United States, and but that's fine. But you know, then she then she turns around, and after all of those, after what happened, we weren't we didn't have the big Canada and Mexico did not have the big additional tax or tariffs applied that we were expecting. So she turns around and says something like, Oh, well, the worst is over, or something like that. Are you fucking kidding me? Look at all of the we still have taxes on autos, we still have the taxes on steel and aluminum, yeah. We still have 10% tax on the oil and gas coming up out of Alberta. Thousands of people are are are getting laid off. Our prices across the board are going up. How can you say the worst of this is fucking over? What a stupid cow! Like, seriously, she she she's gotta just get out and move to the states because that's really seems to be what she wants. I I just she won't admit it, but that's she's just the same as Trump. She's no better. Yeah, no, I like it's like fuck. You know, these things really piss me off. I I just yeah, anyway. I'm getting fucking mad. So where are we going next?
SPEAKER_02Uh well, just we we talked about the privacy, and we've always been about privacy and stuff on your phones. If you do decide to cross the border, a couple things you can do. You can decide if you're gonna actually comply with the search. If they want to search your phone, just let them. If you have nothing to hide, just let them do it. It might win. It's a win-win, they might just go through some shit, you're in or out. Uh, it says to turn off your face ID and fingerprint ID before crossing over, and it says do not wipe a phone. If you have sensitive information on your phone, it's suggest to get a burner phone. Uh it says encrypt your data and use a strong password. We preach that every time. And uh it says not to delete anything, so don't like go across the board and mass delete everything because you'll get flagged. And it also says move things onto a cloud server. I don't even know if there's what if there's a cloud server storage server that will take all my fucking data from my phone, but I'm sure there's one out there.
SPEAKER_01I don't think well, there's uh there is sync. Sync is a Canadian-owned and uh Canadian-based um company here. Uh, who we use sync to transfer some of the files back and forth for this uh for this show. They uh they would be a good alternative to Google and Microsoft and all of those companies. Um if uh yeah, yeah. If you have a lot of data in the cloud, you should not be using Google or Microsoft, Google or OneDrive, I guess. Uh yeah. So of course I have my own server here at home, so I host most of my stuff here. Um yeah, the the burner phone is really interesting to me because yes, you said don't delete a mass amount of files and data and stuff like that because you could look suspicious. But isn't a burner phone kind of the same thing? You're going to have this cheap, uh temporary phone. Well, it may not be temporary necessarily, but you're gonna have this cheap phone with basically nothing on it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So is that not a flag as well? Like are burner phones like everybody associates burner phones with with crime, and I mean that's what TV, that's what TV does to you, right? Uh TV and movies, but but isn't that a flag right there? I mean, I I I think it's a good idea because then you've got no data that you can hand over to them. But isn't that itself kind of a flag for them to to say, like, hey, how come you've got a burner phone and what are you trying to hide? Like, like they're gonna ask you that right away. Yeah. Especially with this being in the in the news now. They're going to I mean, they're gonna know what's or they're going to think the worst right away, and then that's just gonna set things off from there. So I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I have a co-worker, he's got an iPhone, but he doesn't have any data, so we call him no data dave. So no data dave will be just fine crossing the border if he ever had to go.
SPEAKER_01Well, I suppose, but I mean he's still on Wi-Fi at home. If he is doing Wi-Fi at home, he still has all of those um all of those apps. Can they not can they not force you? I I'm just asking. Can they not force you if you get pulled over, can they not force you and say that oh, I don't have a data plan? Well, can they not force you to connect to their data? Oh, I'm assuming to their to their network at the at the crossing or wherever it is that you are and and then still look through your phone that way. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I'm assuming they can.
SPEAKER_01I I assume they can too, because if they take your phone uh and force you to unlock it, I mean they can take it to the back and unlock and connect to their Wi-Fi and every way they go, right? So I don't think that's a I don't think I don't think the no data Dave is doing himself any favors there if he ever tries to cross the border with his phone.
SPEAKER_02Oh no data, Dave. Good times, good times.
SPEAKER_01No data, Dave. That is good.
SPEAKER_02So I try to send him a text message for work. Hey, I need you to be here for whatever, and he doesn't respond because he has some fucking data, so I have to call him. I was like, this is bullshit. Like, get a get a phone that works, bro.
SPEAKER_01I uh I mean there can't be that many people who are in that situation anymore. I mean, I'm sure they're out there, but I don't think I know anybody. Uh no, I shouldn't, I shouldn't, sorry, I should I shouldn't say that. Um the there's a girl who we used to live close to in the same floor, same building. Uh we took care of each other's pets whenever we went away. She she does have a phone, like uh uh she has a landline, I don't know why, but she and she has a phone or a tablet, but it doesn't have data. So she could do her email and all that stuff when she's home and connected to Wi-Fi, but she doesn't have any any data. She's not she doesn't have a yeah, she she doesn't have a phone, basically. Yeah, a phone number, a mobile phone number. So so those people are out there, I guess, but uh yeah, I can't say that there's many.
SPEAKER_02That's funny. Anyway, good times, good times. Uh, I want to bring this up. You found there's a massive internet delay uh debate going on right now. It's just peanut butter, smooth and crunchy. Uh so I used to love peanut butter, but I'm now lurch the nuts, so I cannot enjoy the peanut butter anymore. Yeah, and as somebody who's on a fitness journey, and we've talked about this, and we're both trying to you know lose some weight and drop some pounds and stuff, peanut butter is a great source of protein. You can put that shit on everything. Uh, but I miss it. The only thing peanut butter in our house is for our dog, and our dog loves peanut butter, he gets it as a treat, kind of thing. Yeah, but uh it says the massive internet delay the debate can you store peanut butter at room temperature? And you know the answer. I wonder what the crowd or the audience thinks, but the quick answer is yes.
SPEAKER_01Quick answer is yes, but uh if you have the thing is if you do have, and this is in the article in the story, that if you do have um what's the word I'm looking for? Um organic, if you or organic, maybe I guess, or but if you have peanut butter with all the with no bullshit in it, no extra oils or preservatives or anything like that. Like if it's freshly ground peanuts, uh that stuff you should put in the fridge because it does last longer and it does retain the taste better. So um, but but uh yeah, I don't know. I I brought this up because um well, because I saw that story, but but a couple but a couple of good questions. Like this is a good debate. What's uh where where do you keep where would you if you if you had when you were eating peanut butter, where did you keep it? Did you keep it in the fridge or in the cupboard? It was always in the cupboard. It was. I don't know. I and a lot of people do that. And I don't I don't know. I just always I've always put it in the fridge. Uh and I'm different, I know that. So um well, I've always put it in the fridge.
SPEAKER_02Or save on safely or save on. You could go and um you could hit a button and uh you you could get fresh peanut butter, it would do it on the spot. You would see it grind in front of you, and it just comes out like a like a soft serve ice cream, and you put it in a jar, and you'd be good to go. So that's the good stuff. That stuff I would put in the fridge. But if it's like Adam's peanut butter or Skippy peanut butter or whatever it was, that stuff, the cheap stuff would go. It's kind of like the cheap stuff would go in the cabinet, the top shelf stuff would go in the fridge. It's kind of like alcohol. That's true, I guess.
SPEAKER_01See, Skippy, Skippy does have all that other shit in it. Like I think some of these, some of them put in extra oil, some of them put in salt, of course. Some of them put in um don't don't some of them also put in well, instead of instead of regular sugar, they put in powdered sugar, I think. Um, I don't know. Anyway, so I don't know that if I don't know. I wouldn't can I wouldn't buy Skippy myself. I don't know. I guess if there was nothing else, then maybe, but uh I buy the Addams that you mentioned. Yep. Addams is all peanuts. There's nothing else, there's no nothing additionally added to it. And that's why I put it in the fridge. Um uh it does it it does, the oil separates a little bit. Like if you buy it fresh from the store, you'll see the oil on top. So as soon as I open the lid, I have to stir it. But after stirring it really good, I put it in the fridge and then it doesn't separate. So there's another reason to put it in the fridge in the in the fridge. So here's an interesting debate for you.
SPEAKER_02If that is your favorite peanut butter, is it made in Canada?
SPEAKER_01I I know what you're yeah, I knew you were gonna ask that. Uh, it's not. And uh I have not bought it. Uh I've had a couple jars in storage, uh, so I've not bought any since all of this bullshit went down. But yes, it's made in the States, and so I won't be buying any more. Well, I mean maybe maybe I will have to buy Skippy, although Skippy, I don't think it's Canadian either.
SPEAKER_02I don't think so, you know. So um so here's the here's my debate on that. So I was we are I'm born and raised in Canada. It's uh 42 years. It's you know, that's what I've been doing. And I was always taught to always buy Canadian as much as you can. So yeah, uh everything I try to buy stuff that's I try to buy stuff that's always been made in Canada and I always buy stuff that is not uh cruelty, it's cruelty-free, not testament. Yes, absolutely. That's the big one. Yeah, those are the two things I always look for. And sometimes you just can't. I mean, you know, like like again, peanut butter. You think it's uh a three dollar jar of peanut butter is gonna make the fucking economy? Do you treat yourself and get what you love? It's a jar of peanut butter who gives a shit. Like what's what's the bigger picture on it? Well, the bigger picture is yes, you're supporting an economy, but do you spend three dollars and make yourself happy because you're you enjoy the product? Like, what's what's where's the threshold on it? Like, what do you what do you do with it?
SPEAKER_01Well, I think I think I can find a suitably good alternative made here in Canada. I I really do, right? So yes, I do like the the atoms. It's yeah, uh, I prefer crunchy over smooth, and uh that was another question that that I had for you. Um crunchy crunchy just crunchy just tastes better. Yeah, the other thing with the other thing with with crunchy is that it doesn't slide off your toast as fast as it doesn't get all runny like the smooth stuff does. Yeah, like who wants to fucking put nice coating of peanut butter on a slice of toast and have it all slide off your onto your plate or make a mess everywhere. Smooth is good for sandwiches, peanut butter and jam sandwich, a peanut butter banana sandwich, whatever. But crunchy is the way to go, man. You gotta have crunchy peanut butter. Oh, that's the best. It is. Uh anyway, so back to back to the question. Um, cruelty-free is important no matter what it is, whether it's your bio stick or food or whatever it is. Um but I think we've always tried to buy Canadian as well. And obviously, there's some stuff that you know, whatever, just because we like it, we we get something that might come from the United States. But but times have changed, it really has. And like I said, I at this point I'll find, I'm sure I could find something that's just as good as Adam's peanut butter that's made here in Canada. So I'm not too concerned about it. I I think it's like I said, I think those are even though it's a three or four or five dollar jar, yeah. I think it's still important to support Canada and our economy here and our small business, and you know, so there are there are still some things that that are tough. I know that our cats, our cats love um, we give them raw food, and it comes comes from the United States. Some of the products come from outside of the US, but it's all manufactured, it's all made um in the United States. Um, it's it's there is a company here in Canada. Actually, I think it's a store out in Port Coquitlam. We're trying their food now to see if these guys are gonna like it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01So, so so again, there are alternatives. Um, can we easily make that switch? Um, you know, because these guys can be picky eaters, they are used to something, they may not necessarily eat something else right away. But, anyways, so so again, even with something like that, that you know, hey, for us, it's easy to find a change, it's a little bit different for the cats because they can't go out and buy it themselves and try it themselves. Animals are picky, they're they're picky, so we're doing what we can, but but the you know, and and we stocked up some on some frozen food before all this as well. So nice, but but we are trying again, even for them, we're trying to find alternatives made in Canada.
SPEAKER_02So that's the way to do it.
SPEAKER_01We're trying to do our best, and I think everybody should be doing that too.
SPEAKER_02You know what we didn't have in our prep this week is the carbon tax. So carbon tax in is well, it's gone for now. Um, so the the main thing that really so before the car, so carbon tax, I don't know, it was you would the majority of it you would feel the hit when you're getting gasoline. Gasoline was the main thing. Uh so before carbon tax uh was eliminated, gas was 189 to 195, depending on whatever it is. Now it's 181. So it didn't really go down that much. I I've seen it at nighttime when I'm ripping around, it goes down to like 170-ish. I saw it from 167 when I was coming back on Friday night. Uh, but it's not that much like difference. And like if you look at the oil and gas prices, like it looks like it's going down. So like why is our gas so expensive? But let's but let's circle back on that. So uh the carbon tax here in British Columbia was uh it was eliminated when what was it? It was made. When was that Mark Carney uh came in a cave was when the fuck did he say? Was it last Tuesday, two Tuesdays ago?
SPEAKER_01I th I think so. And then and then Premier Abbey cut they cut the provincial stuff as well after that, right? So that's when that's when the prices really dropped at the pump.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But it's still uh I mean you're not really you're not really saving much, is what I'm trying to say for that. So like is it is it better for us? Is it how saving the environment? Like I I don't I don't know. And there's lots of debates on it whether it's happening or not, but
SPEAKER_01Well, I think uh I think uh yeah, it's a big debate and it's really complicated. I uh because I I I think I don't know how it's working. Did the tax get dropped completely for everybody, or are they still talking about taxing the big manufacturers and and industrial organizations or companies? Because they're I mean they're the big ones who are are um who who need should be they're the biggest polluters, is what I'm trying to say, right? So um, so I don't know. Something something will be in place. Uh you may not want to call it a tax, but if it's not right now, I'm sure uh you know, I'm sure that the governments are still going to try to reduce carbon emissions because we have we have goals to meet uh like every other country does. And I think you know, I forget the latest timeline, I guess, that Trudeau, I think, recently uh put in place. You know, we have to meet those goals by what 2028, 2030. I don't know, I don't know what the date is, but anyway, there are goals in place. Um so even if we don't have a carbon tax, we're going to have to be doing something as people of this country, you know, to lower carbon emissions. And how are they gonna do that? How are we gonna do that? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It's a good question. We got a lot of open-ended questions this show. You know, it's it's yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's uh well, hey, that's uh we don't have all the answers. I think we don't have all the answers. No, we don't that we don't for sure. But so we like to to to raise questions and talk about a lot of different things.
SPEAKER_02So okay, let's switch gears. So last I don't even remember we recorded last. It's been a fucked up couple of weeks for myself personally, but uh we did talk about last time about me going on a couple dates. So I got a I got a couple stories for you. All right. So here we go. I got I said I'm not on any dating apps or anything yet because I just don't want own the drama yet. So I'm just kind of friends of friends and we're kind of doing some stuff. So um a friend of mine is like she meet up with this girl, she's cool, she's whatever, like perfect. So I met her at a local brewery. We were at a we were at the brewery, we're shooting the shit, and we're about three beers deep. And she leans into me and she's clearly done her homework, so she knows exactly who I am. She knows that I used to be on the radio and ask inappropriate questions. So she leans into me and she goes, Hey, can I ask you a question? And I'm like, You can ask me whatever you want. And she leans in and she goes, Are you cut or uncut? And but here's there's I don't know. I don't know what I don't know what happened, but within not even missing a beat. Uh, it was kind of a cold night and whatever it is. And I just without missing a beat, I go, Well, it's a little early for you to see my wrists. And she's like, she she lost her fucking mind. She didn't know what to say, she couldn't recover from it. She's like, Where the fuck did that come from? I'm like, I don't even know where it came from. And so, but I promise to move on because it's Friday night and I work on the weekend. So I'm like, hey, what's going on for the weekend? What do you got going on? She couldn't recover. It was over. I ruined Christmas. Like, I don't know what the fuck happened. So I'm like, I'll be right back. So I went and took a piss. I paid for the I've paid for the bar or I've paid for the tab, whatever it is. I walk up to her and give her a hey, I gotta go. This has uh half been fun. I guess uh fuck. I'll I guess I'll talk to you later, whatever. And she's like, oh, it's taken longer. No, I'm like, I gotta go. This is I gotta go. But so I left. And uh she messaged me like the next morning. She goes, Oh, I had a good time last night. How are you doing? And I responded, Well, I finally stopped cutting, send. And I'm like, hey, uh if you uh as I said, I if you can't recover from shit like that, uh, I gotta move on. So it was nice meeting you. Thank you. Good luck, all the all the all the best. And and that was it. So that was uh that was my biggest one.
SPEAKER_01Another one I Oh sorry, sorry, so when you said you she couldn't recover, you mean she was she was just she couldn't stop laughing? No, she couldn't recover too much.
SPEAKER_02She just couldn't, um she couldn't like I don't know. I don't I think as I'm thinking about it now, it might have been a trigger point for her. But uh you can ask a question like that and not respect the response.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, it's yeah, it's uh it's uh a little weird, uh, but whatever.
SPEAKER_02Fuck, who cares? Yeah, oh well. She was a solid six, anyways. It wasn't it wasn't really working out for the game. And then another one I was uh another I got a number from a buddy of mine, and we're shooting the shit over text, whatever it is, and she's like uh so and she I threw text messages, she's like, okay, I'm like, hey, so what's going on? She's like, and she messages within it, it's been about talking to her for about a week, every couple days, and she went, hey, you should come over. And she said, You should come over. I want you to choke me and spit in my mouth. What the f I can't even make this shit up. I'm like, uh, no, I'm I'll pass. Thank you. Have a good day. And like I ended like that, but that's the shit I'm working with. I want you to choke me and spit in my mouth. Is that totally? Don't know. I don't know. So I messaged my buddy, I'm like, yeah, no, I'm out. And I sent a screenshot of it. Sent to her, she goes, he goes, I'm sorry, bro. I don't I don't know what's going on. I'm like, thanks, bro, I'm I'm done. And uh, so that's kind of where I've where I've ended. But those are my two dating stories in the last I don't know, six months, seven, six months it's been eight months.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's um it's tough out there. It's tough. It's it is tough out there, it's a lot different dating now than it was 20 years ago, 40 years ago, whatever. All I all I can say is, and it's easy for me to say this because I do have somebody great. Yeah, and um, you know, it it's just uh so I can say this in that uh I'm glad I'm not single anymore. Uh I because because you and I and it's easy for me to say this too, but if I was single now for whatever reason, I would just say fuck it. I'm I'm I don't need anybody. Yeah. At this point in my life, uh with the world, the way the world is now and the way people are today, fuck it. It's just not worth a fucking hassle, man. I'm I'm happy just doing my own fucking thing and not having to have to worry about anything else or anybody else. Um you're younger than me. I I get it, and uh I understand completely, but for me, fuck. And and and and uh who knows if something ever did happen, maybe I would change my mind. Maybe some companionship would be would be great to have. But at this point in my life, right now, where I'm at, fuck it. It's just uh you know, I I If things are going great, and I'm happy where I am right now, but if something ever changed and I was in a situation where like you, yeah, no, that's it. I just I don't need that bullshit.
SPEAKER_02So it's tough.
SPEAKER_01Uh that sucks. Yeah, it does.
SPEAKER_02It's it's and it's the companionship. I just need the need the you need the yin and the yang to bounce the shit off someone that you know hopefully thinks like you can kind of back you up and move forward, but fuck. It's I'm like I I might just start because I we all we're adults here, we got a budget, and I'm budget I budget for dates for you know for the month. But if I take that money and you know, still saving for a house, whatever, move into my house fun or save it up to go traveling, like go to like Bali or Thailand or or something like that. I don't know, something cool that's always kind of been on the bucket list, you know. Maybe you start doing that, but it's just I don't know. I might try those dating apps again in the summertime, but I fuck, I I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well, I I mean I mean you don't really know somebody even with the dating apps, and and it's like I I I I don't think I would ever try them again at this point either, just because yeah, like just whatever, it's not worth it. But it but but maybe there is something to them like like maybe maybe you can vet people before actually a little bit before actually even communicating with them, right? There's a little bit of a lot of things. And and again, you still don't know somebody until you actually meet them in person and get to know them, right? But but maybe I don't know. It's I don't know, maybe not. I don't know. It's it is it's tough. It really is. I don't know. I don't know what to say.
SPEAKER_02Nobody has the answers.
SPEAKER_01No, otherwise everybody would be hooked up and happy, and uh there'd be no problems in the world, right?
SPEAKER_02I I got one more. So I went to uh a friend of mine was uh did this. There's a local company that um does these meet up in person. So they go, fuck the apps, let's go and meet with these people in person. So it's a speed dating kind of thing, yeah, whatever it is. So he wasn't able to make it. I didn't even know the shit existed here in Van Gabriel, but he's he wasn't able to make it. So he goes, Hey, have my ticket, just reach out to this email and go and tell them you're coming instead of me, and whatever. So I did that, I did that exact same because it's I'm just a male replacing a male, so it doesn't fuck up the numbers. Yeah, so I go to this thing and it was at East Van Brewery, which is Venables and Commercial, and there's uh 12 girls and 12 guys, and you sit down, you have a six-minute conversation, and they hit the buzzer and you move on. So you do six girls and it's six minutes, and you have a 10-minute break, and you do another six girls, and the day's over. So you're it like you're walking up and you're introducing yourself and you're having a conversation with these girls, whatever it is, and you're interested and you have this checklist, and as you're going through, you're checking off, write their name down, check, or whatever it is. And uh so the night's over. Uh, I'm chatting. So there was one girl who I clicked with, and she was staying a little longer. So after the whole thing ended, we hung up for an extra drink or two, and I got her number then. And then a couple days later, they send you the results, and through that flair event site, whatever it is, I get an email. It goes, he's like the email goes for the first time in a long time, you all 12 girls said yes to you. I was like, holy shit! And then I responded, Well, they must have been desperate. Uh but but then but only the I only said yes to that one chick, and that was the one girl who I had the drink with anyway, so it didn't really do anything for me. But those events, like that event was $75. Wow. So if you're paying for it, it's $75 to go into that. But if you're paying for, and that's the thing, you're these dating, there's there's free options of it, but you're not getting like you can't vet out the people. You can't hey, I want up, you know, I want a blonde chick with tattoos. You can't specify that, it doesn't work. It's just kind of whatever it is, and that's if you're not, but if you're paying for it, you can go down the nitty-gritty, like I want someone within five kilometers of me or whatever it is. And paying for these dating apps is really expensive. It's like I think it's like a hundred or a hundred and fifty bucks a month to uh to get some of the premium features of like what you're looking for and what you're doing it. But like to me, I would pay for it because time is money. I don't want to waste my fucking time on this shit. I want to find the person who I find half attractive and then move forward. But the problem with all these dating apps is that you don't know anything about it. Like they hit a it's a yes or no, and there's so much variety on these fucking things, no one gives a shit. Like you have to have something witty on your profile. It's just it is such a pain in the ass, which is why I have yet to um commit to one. But I just I just don't know what to do. I like I'm at wit's end, like I just stay single forever and you know get another dog kind of thing, but it's just it's it's so much fucking work.
SPEAKER_01And I just I just it it is like it's like looking for a job. Yeah, it really is the same thing, right? It's it's uh you're you're trying to sell yourself, but in this case, it's not for a job, it's for a relationship or um and and yeah, it's uh it's it's you're right, you have to write something you have to you have to be completely honest, yeah, but you still have to write things or present yourself online in your profile in a way that is uh enticing for people. Uh, you know, obviously you're you're looking to attract somebody specific or special, or yeah, you know, so you have to um yeah, you you have to market your yourself. That's really what you're doing. And um yeah, it's uh I know I'm not good at that, that's for damn sure. So uh so I don't know. I don't know. It's uh but you have to you have to do something to your profile while being honest, you have to do something and say and word things a certain way to make yourself stand out, yeah, to that specific target group that you're you know that you're looking at attracting. So it's tough, yeah. So so anyways, this one this one girl, have you talked to her again? Have you seen her again? Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I okay, so here's another thing. So we had it, we we clicked, we had a good time, and she had to leave it. So the thing started at 7, it ended by 8:30. We were hanging out till about 11, and she's like, I gotta go, I gotta let my dog out. Yeah, no problem, have a good day. And so oh she knows she had to go pick her dog up from daycare for or night care at 11, and then she went home. So I messaged her. I'm like, hey, fuck, nice, nice to meet you. I hope you got home safe. Let's try to reconnect in a week or two. Nothing. I reconnect to her on the Friday. Hey, what's going on? Because I actually had that weekend off. I'm like, hey, what's going on for the weekend? Do you want to get together? Nothing. And then I messaged her the week after, like on the Wednesday when I originally met her. I'm like, hey, it was been, you know, it's been a week. I understand people get busy and whatever it is, but everyone is so addicted to fucking cell phones. If you're not responding to a message within within three hours or so, I think is the limit, then whatever. So I messaged her a couple days later, like a week after I met her. Hey, fuck, nice to see whatever it is. Hey, you think about you want to grab something, do something on the weekend? Nothing. So I'm like, what the fuck? And then, like, I think maybe it was like two, three weeks ago, she messaged me at three in the morning. And I was just like, What? I don't know if she had a couple drinks or I don't, I don't know what happened. And she goes, Hey, I'm sorry I've got back to you, whatever it was. Um, I I she was going, she goes, I'll read it to you. Hey, I don't, I'm sorry I've been aloof. I was going through a breakup and I think I jumped the gun a little, wasn't quite ready to get out there and be so basically froze afterwards. She goes, I enjoyed my time with you, and in due time I'd like to hang out again. Sorry it's taken so long, just been recovering and processing. I'm like, what the fuck? And this was at 246 in the morning. I'm like, hey, fuck, thank you for getting back to me, not ghost to me. I'm like, take your time, fuck, I'll be here. Like, whatever the fuck. Yeah, and that's how that ended.
SPEAKER_01But that was a weird one. That is that is weird, but again, maybe maybe there is something genuine about it. I don't know. That sort of response at three in the morning is a little bit weird. I don't know, but whatever. I don't know. It's not totally psycho, I guess. So I don't know. Who knows? Maybe there's we'll see. The breakup thing, the breakup thing is tough, right? You can't force anything uh because of that, especially, and she has to kind of make the decision herself. So that's uh, and that happens. That happens to people.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, I get it. I respect it, but I don't know what's weird. Her sending me a message at like three in the morning or me responding right away because I'm up that way, anyways. So there you go.
SPEAKER_01You're both maybe you're both made for each other. Who knows? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I don't know what's going on. I just I don't know where I am anymore. I just I'm tapping out, it's over.
SPEAKER_01Good luck to you, anyways. Keep at her. I don't know. It's uh the thing is, the thing is, and you know this already, is that it happens when you least expect it. Exactly. Um that's just the way it is.
SPEAKER_02Oh fuck. I just I saw this quote last night. I had to save it. Women really be threatening you to cut you off like you didn't lose the love of our life, three girls or girl. You do the worst, sweetheart. Oh fuck, good times, good times. Uh but let's move to uh well let's uh let's talk about uh Val Kilmer. Uh yeah uh Val Kilmer passed away uh I think what what Tuesday night?
SPEAKER_01Uh was this week, I forget though exactly what day. Something like that, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I I when I was growing up, my favorite, but one of my favorite movies of all time was Willow. Willow okay and Willow, have you seen obviously you've seen Willow?
SPEAKER_01It's like I don't I don't know that I have. If I have I can't remember it right now.
SPEAKER_02I can't shit. I watched that so many times with my parents. My dad loved because it's kind of like it's kind of like a ghetto Lord of the Rings. Because it was in the 80s, but uh Valve Kilmer played Mad Mardigan, and it was just it was fucking hilarious. And I always quote, there's these two little angel fairies, and they would always get drunk. And the the the quote is is like they're they're arguing with each other, and they go, When you are drunk, I am the leader. And then the other guy goes, Well, which way do we go? We go this way. Like, I just remember that so much. And I remember I was in the States from Italy, whatever, last summer, and um I was with a bunch of my buddies, and people watched a show, and we're with my buddy's dad, and I pulled that out, like that quote out, and everybody just started laughing. But I fucking loved Willow. You gotta watch Willow. If you do any watch any movie next, you gotta watch Willow. It's so good. Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't I I I'm I'm actually looking at it right now. I don't if I have seen it, it was a long time ago because it is an old movie, and I can't remember it. So um so yeah, I guess I'll have to check that out.
SPEAKER_02Um but this past week I've I've watched Top Gun, I've watched Top Gun Maverick, I've watched uh what else? I watched the Doors movie, and I've watched um Heat. So I I did my Val little mini Val Kilmer marathon. But what's your favorite Val Kilmer movie?
SPEAKER_01Well, that's uh I mean that's that's a good question because he he's a very versatile actor, and uh and I think that's what people loved about him, or one of the things that people loved about him. Like I'm reading some of the things that people have said, um, you know, about the movies he's done and the work uh and working with them and stuff. And um, so yes, he's very versatile, he gets right into the roles that I mean look at the doors, for example. Yeah, he he he sang the songs. Uh I I did he act he did actually sing the songs in the movie, I think, right? Yeah, so because because he basically tried to be Jim Morrison for a year or so leading up to I think filming and and stuff like that. So I don't know if it was that long, but anyways, like he just fully embraces the roles, and and and that what's that's what makes him so good. Um the Doors I want to watch again because it's been a long time, so and I am a big Doors fan, a Jim Morrison fan. So uh so definitely that's a favorite. I love Heat. I mean that's Heath Heat is such a such a uh a great movie, and um yeah, I I just the the action scenes, the story is it's just uh it's just a cool film. Um and you know that this is not Val Kilmer, but you do know that El Pacino and uh Robert De Niro didn't actually film any scenes together in that movie, right? Yeah, that's so weird. That is weird, especially that that uh coffee shop scene. They were not actually sitting in the coffee shop together when they filmed that. Yeah, like it's just it's so crazy. Um, anyways, uh Val Kilmer. I I love the Saint. The Saints is just such a cool show, and and that and that is a perfect movie for his versatility because he he he plays so many different people in that movie. Like he um like he's always he he he he he uh how can explain. Have you seen the saints? I have do you know what I'm talking about? Yep, okay. So, anyways, so he's really good in that. Um there's uh tombstone I saw many years ago. That's a that's a cool movie. I should revisit that again. Yeah, I gotta do that. There's a couple of movies that I probably have seen that uh I and that I again that I can't remember, maybe like Willow, uh, and that's very early in his career. Uh Top Secret and uh Real Genius. I I I think I've seen them, especially Real Genius. I mean, though they both came out in the mid 80s. I I'm sure I would have seen them at the time, but I just can't remember. Anyways, it's kind of how he got his start, his first big movies, I think. And it's uh I think I'd like to go back and see those two. So yeah, it's it's cool. Uh Top Gun, everybody, everybody knows Top Gun and talks about that. So it's funny how he says he didn't really want to do that or play that role. He he I think he turned it down at first. I yeah, I don't know. Uh that's what I want to see actually, too. Is there is a documentary called Val. Yeah, uh, it came out in 2021, I think. Uh I want to watch that. So um uh it's it sounds like it's a pretty good uh story. Uh gets pretty intimate about who he is and and uh yeah just some of the movies he's done.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I think it came out after he got his diagnosis of cancer. Isn't that really good? Was it okay, yeah. So I can't remember.
SPEAKER_01And I think he's he's only 65, right? Like fuck, that's that's pretty young, and I know he's been he's been sick for for a little bit, so but yeah, so that's anyway.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, really shitty. Rest in peace, Val. Yeah, they call it rest in power. Rest in power, rest in power. Uh well since I already fucked that up. What's let's just go TV movie stuff. What else are you watching this week?
SPEAKER_01Um, you know, uh we watched uh a TV. TV series. Um we rolled through it pretty quick. There's only four episodes. It's uh it's called uh Adolescence.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm sure you have probably I don't know if you watched it yet, but you probably have seen it's really it's just really taken off. It's just such a a massive popular movie. In fact, I thought I read somewhere that it took over as the most watched series on Netflix, like ever. Like it took over from Stranger Things and everything.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow, okay.
SPEAKER_01Like it, like it's huge. Like it's huge. Uh the interesting part about it is that it's all one-shot filming. So each each of the four episodes was essentially done in one in one take, like one camera, no cuts, nothing. Awesome. So it's a really you know, there's been some movies recently that were like that. Uh 1917 was the big one, especially a war film, yeah. Done it was filmed the same way. Um, so so um, so so yeah, it's uh it's really popular. It's basic it's it's become very political, I think, as well, because essentially it's about um a kid, a 13-year-old kid, murders a girl at his school, and so that's what the movie is about and how it affects his family. It's not about it's not a who-done it movie, it's basically okay, he did it, and here's what happens after the fact, right? And they try to figure out why it happened and all that, but it's really uh it's really about you know, I think what's happening in the world today with misogyny and you know the toxic shit going on in the planet, and there has been uh an increase in knife violence amongst males, males to females, um uh over in the UK. So um, so I think that's the reason reason for the film. And um Stephen Graham plays the dad of of the the murderer, uh the 13-year-old boy, and um they both play the the acting is is incredible. But but I think it's really taken off in that you know a lot of people are saying, hey, this is this is true, it sucks that this is happening. Okay, but this so this is what's happening, and you know, people need to be more aware about it. Um and I think there are some people, you know, even the politicians are saying that this film or this series should be shown in school and like it should be part of education, and I know not everybody maybe agrees with that, but that's that that's some TV now that has really it's not just entertainment, it's um it's uh it shows a part of uh human life and some of the shitty things that happen, yeah, especially again males uh to females. Um but it's but it's well done. Like it's it's it's it I think people should watch it because it's it's good and in the acting is good, but obviously there's a message there too. So anyway, so we watched we watched that. Um so check it out. Um I started watching Severance. Oh, you know, okay. I know I know Severance has been this is it's the second season just finished. I don't know why. I never really did look at at uh at you know what it was about. People were were saying that they they were watching it and how good it was, but I never really paid much attention to it. So uh just a couple weeks ago I started watching it, and I've gotten through the first season already. Uh there's not nine episodes in season one, and it's a really good show. It's um yeah, it's uh check it out. I mean it's it's kind of a somewhat sci-fi type movie, it's not true sci-fi like uh like aliens and everything, but I mean it's the story is a sci-fi theme. Um it's really good. Um, yeah, I would definitely check it out. So season two is done. I assume there's a season three. I don't know. I I haven't heard anything about its ending at this point, but um yeah, so so I've watched that as well. So so check that out. A bunch of other stuff, you know. We've started watching a couple of other shows, but uh some other stuff is continuing. We did finish the Tragically Hip documentary. Did I mention that last time?
SPEAKER_02That is awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's um it's it's you know, I I know I mentioned this at the time. I'm not a big Tragically Hit fan, I never was. Um Yes, Gord Downey is uh uh is an incredible uh a talent. Um and we did meet him, or I met him at Sea Fox. I don't know if you were there that day or not. So, you know, so he's he was a very humble guy, very quiet guy at that time. Um and of course, cancer took him too. That sucks. Um, but but you know what? I learned some things about him and the band in that TV show that I can uh that m I guess how can I say this? I guess uh they I've gained they've gained I've gained some respect. Uh they have more respect, I guess, in my mind. Um I can give them more respect because some of the things they did were really cool. And uh so I can appreciate them a little bit more because of that. Am I gonna go out and buy all their albums and stuff like that? No, but I can definitely appreciate them and their music uh more than I used to. So yeah. So that it was good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I just uh he what times uh I remember meeting him, he came into the studio once. And uh that he came in for tour to trailer, he was in a couple other reasons, but the reason the time I met him, he was in the studio, I think talking with Morrison.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's uh that's yeah, that's and it was his and it was a solo album, I think, at that time, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So that's cool. Yeah, yeah, it was happy I gotta shake that man's hand. I don't think I got a photo with him though, and that's I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't know, yeah, I don't know that I did either. Uh I took some shots of the interview, I got some shots of Morrison, but I don't think I've got one up with him and I either. So bullshit. Oh well.
SPEAKER_02What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do?
SPEAKER_01Sometimes that just that's just the way the interviews went, I think, right? And it depends on the person and yeah, again, being a quiet guy and I think uh and stuff, he he wasn't uh he wasn't uh open enough, I guess, for maybe us to ask him.
SPEAKER_02Whatever there's going to be. Yeah, anyways, get happy. Gotta read the room.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We read the room correctly. Uh what else is happening? Oh, let's chat tunes. So my tunes aren't working right now. So if you would do the honors and play some of the tunes for me.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Uh I'll try and get this to work here. I've got again so many different fucking windows open, but uh shit. Okay, here's the first one. Um they're in order from your um oh perfect from your prep.
SPEAKER_02So this is a bad sleep token. Sleep token have been around for a little bit. Um a little weird kind of stuff, but heavy guitars, weird kind of vocals, but I'm a big fan of these guys. This came out this is the first single after album, and it's it's really, really I love it. I think it's I think it's perfect. And the coolest part about this song is it ends with a stacked solo. So I was hooked immediately. Did you uh do you enjoy these guys?
SPEAKER_01Have you heard of token before I um I I am not familiar with them. It kind of got into more of a hip hop-y type uh I think this is the one, anyways. Uh this one, yeah, it didn't really didn't grab you? Didn't grab me. Yeah, definitely not. Not it's not my thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But yeah, it's uh listen to it. And they have a new single that came out on Friday. It was called Caramel. It's not as strong as this one, but uh this is this is cool.
SPEAKER_01Um does kick in here a little bit. I know I'm uh I was just let it play from the beginning, but uh yeah, she gets she gets into it.
SPEAKER_02And the production on this, put this on your use your rip through your dat and put this on your headphones. Like, this is the guitar coming in.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it fucking maybe I'll appreciate it a little bit more than you have to.
SPEAKER_02You you gotta get it going.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Uh the next song I got for you is a band from it's called Holy Water, and the song is called Fade. I don't know where I found this or what happened with it, but like turn this one up. I love this song too. It's uh he's he's kind of sings falsettally, and then he starts growling, and I was just like, What is this? The range on this guy is crazy. Um, this is off the album with an EP called Mail Power. It was released last year, but it's new to me. But yeah, no, it's uh I I like the song. I thought it was uh and it ripped as well. I love the like again, we're I'm gonna stuck it for production, and this ripped. It just it sounds so good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm going to uh I have to because this this is taking it does take a little bit to get going, but I'm gonna I'm just going to flip right through to it here, and so you can get an idea as to what Adam is talking about because I think it's right here.
SPEAKER_02There's the full setup.
SPEAKER_01I think it's yeah. I think it's coming up. But this is this is what caught me, I think. I were you did you listen to this? You're like, what the fuck is this idiot playing? Well, it was. Yeah, that it's that's exactly what I thought. But I I always not always, but I mostly can hear it now. I I let this play, and I'm glad I did because um because this this this rocks, I mean it's uh it's pretty heavy, and it's you didn't you I didn't see this coming, I guess is what I'm saying, right? I didn't see it coming at all, and it just uh it's a pretty heavy song once it gets going, and it's you know it's like halfway through, I think, but uh so it takes a while, but it's a pretty it's a good tune.
SPEAKER_02Good tune.
SPEAKER_01I'm not familiar with these guys either, so this is one I I enjoyed, and I'll and I'll check this out for sure. Yeah, that's a good tune.
SPEAKER_02Uh the next one I got on the list is called The Gems. The Gems are uh a Swedish rock trio, but they're all females. To me, this sounded like a female monster truck.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I can I can see that. Um I'm surprised. I'm surprised it's on Napalm Records. I don't know why, because most of the stuff that napalm puts out is is really heavy. Like I I like this. I um I have no problem with this with this uh tune uh or the band, but it's just you know what I mean. I think napalm is more more more heavy metal, more really hard rock, more death metal, more like just just heavy, right? Where this is not that at all, but um but this is pretty good. Yeah, good track. And I've never and I've never heard of them before either. What I found odd, at least with the video, is that uh it's a good song, but there's only three of them. Yeah, there's no bass player in the video or nothing. I'm trying to figure out okay, something's not right here. Um not a big deal, I guess. It's just a video, but that's what I that's what I was wondering right away. Is that okay, well, did they record this song and then in between time did they lose the bass player or something like that, and they just carried on, or you know, what happened here? But uh maybe we'll I'll have to check that out, have a look.
SPEAKER_02Apparently there were a bit there were a band called Thunder Mother before, and they've I I think I they lost a member and reformed this, so I think that's okay.
SPEAKER_01That maybe is it? That makes sense because I think I have heard of Thunder Mother. There you go. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I will uh put it on the list of every growing list of two.
SPEAKER_01I will look that up a little bit more, yeah. All right.
SPEAKER_02Uh next song, right up your alley, Slomosa, a band song called Horses. Now, this is gonna be right up your alley.
SPEAKER_01This is Oh, this is this is this is great stuff. I uh oh let me this is uh I mean I'm sure I've played some Slomosa before, haven't I? I don't know. Because because I'm very familiar with them. Yeah. Um they're a band from Norway. Yep. Um I'm positive that I've played Slamosa before, but hey, this is that's okay. This is uh this is because this is a year old, this is uh the song. I forget which album it came out of came from, but that's good stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was uh I don't know maybe you have I don't know. I got ad-targeted with this song.
SPEAKER_01Did you yeah?
SPEAKER_02So I was like, oh okay, yeah, this this rips.
SPEAKER_01That's been happening to you quite a bit. I like it.
SPEAKER_02Sometimes the all the rhythm works.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So yeah, it's a good it's a good tune. I uh slomosa is awesome. Love them. Uh I think I think sorry, I think they may have even toured uh North America recently.
SPEAKER_02Oh fuck.
SPEAKER_01Umluding Vancouver. It seems to be familiar, and maybe it's a show I should have gone to. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Damn it.
SPEAKER_01Oh well. Anyway, good stuff.
SPEAKER_02Can't see them all, and that's that's the unfortunate thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, for sure. That's the way it is.
SPEAKER_02And the last one on my picks of the week, I gotta go into my hardcore Supremo, emo. Or Kinamarta. I listened to this song, I wanted to start a circle thing. This song fucking just rips. Uh this song is called The House of Note Tomorrow, it's off your latest DP. And yeah, this this song just rips. Uh I don't know. Again, I was just I think this came up on my Apple recommendations. So it's kind of like the Spotify, what is it, Discover Weekly, but it was like the Apple's version of Discover Weekly. And I was like, oh, this fucking rips. So uh they're from Sydney, Australia, which is kind of cool doing some homework on it. But yeah, this full album, it's it's pretty cool. And again, production. Listen to it, crank it, start a circle. Okay.
SPEAKER_01All right. There you go. I don't always go for the production. It's it's not always the first thing I look at, but I don't know. It's one of the first things I look at. I know it's high on your list, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But uh, did you make it through this one?
SPEAKER_01I did, I didn't mind the song at all. I had never heard of them before. It's pretty good. Um I'll have to check out more as well.
SPEAKER_02Perfect. And again, thanks to you for playing that. Uh we're having technical issues up our yin yang. Your website doesn't work. I can't fucking play audio. I think I'm recording your vocals. I don't know what the fuck's going on.
SPEAKER_01But uh hopefully, hopefully my recording is going okay because if not, uh then we're then we may as well just pack it in here. I don't know. It's uh yeah. Shit happens sometimes.
SPEAKER_02It is what it is. Uh, what do you what are you spending this week?
SPEAKER_01Okay, I've got a band called Goya. I don't know that I've played Goya before, but they've been around for a little bit. Uh this is pretty good stuff. Uh name of the song's called In the Dawn of November. Some heavy, heavy doom metal here, uh, as you can already tell. It's uh it's uh self-titled. Well, it's not self-titled, sorry. This is the title track, I mean, from the album coming out in June. So um, yeah, doom psychedelic, heavy psychedelic rock, whatever you want to call it. I don't know, but yeah, good stuff. I don't know if you had a chance to listen to my tunes, but it was a full eight minutes. Oh, you so you did, yeah, yes.
SPEAKER_02Oh and you got through it, did you? I I listened to all of them like what the fuck, how the fuck? So yeah, no, I I made it through, everyone. I got it.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I don't think I've thrown an eight-minute song in here for a while.
SPEAKER_02It's been a minute, it's been a minute.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it has. All right. Well, I'm glad you I'm glad you made it through. Um Goya, like I said, was a band I'm familiar with. Uh have been for a while. This is a band that I did not know about. Band called Knight, N-ITE. I think I discovered this from uh from Title. So same thing with your Apple. Title has their algorithms. Uh, they fed me this one. Uh, this this is pretty good stuff too. Yeah, I uh this is American bands out of, I think they're from San Francisco, I'm not sure. Uh anyway, this is uh they've got three albums out now, I think. I'm I'm gonna that's as kind of as far as I got with them. I'm gonna have to check them out some more.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's all right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, kind of uh you can you can hear the black metal, I guess, once the vocal kick vocals kick in. But yeah, just I don't get all these genres sometimes. I just you know the music is probably the first thing that catches my ears. Not necessarily the production, but you know, the the sound, the riffs, the style of music.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a little bit of both.
SPEAKER_01And yeah, so anyways, obviously it's it's metal, but blackened metal, I don't know, whatever. It's uh black metal, death metal. How many different types of metal are there out there?
SPEAKER_02Oh fucking.
SPEAKER_01Do you know the differences between all of them?
SPEAKER_02Kind of, maybe. Okay. Trash metal. Uh there's power metal. There's doom metal.
SPEAKER_01There is um but then but then there's things like the you know, uh then there's things like b like blacken's death metal. Okay, well, what's how is blacken's death metal different from death metal? Uh I mean like fuck, I don't know. Like like people just throw these genres around like they're fucking I don't know. It's pretty funny sometimes, I think.
SPEAKER_02Who knows? You got speed metal?
SPEAKER_01Speed metal, yeah. But how what is different between speed metal and thrash metal?
SPEAKER_02I I think it's a picking technique.
SPEAKER_01Is it okay?
SPEAKER_02You got sludge metal?
SPEAKER_01Well, slud yes, yeah. Sludge and sludge and well, I wouldn't say sludge and doom are the same thing, but uh they're they're kind of kind of close.
SPEAKER_02You got groove metal, which is what I'm a big fan of.
SPEAKER_01You got progressive metal, you've got stoner metal or or uh desert metal, as the people call it. Yeah, I know. See, like there's and I and yes, I I guess I do know some of the you got metal core, which is the my llama gods.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I guess that is that groove metal or is that metal core? I don't fucking know anymore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, see, I don't know. What are you gonna do? You're all who knows? You got titanium metal, titanium metal, yeah. You've got you've got platinum, platinum metal, yeah. You've got gold and bronze and silver and uh shit. Oh fuck. Now we're getting out of control here. This is what happens. We're off. All right, let's let me bring it back here. Let's go. Uh I'm gonna bring it back with some night stalker. Uh this is also a title track from a new album coming out. Uh, it's from one of my favorite labels, the Heavy Psych Sounds out of Italy. Yeah, so you know, this is is this I wouldn't call this du metal. It's more it's more I don't know. Is this stoner metal? Heavy psychedelic rock. Is it stoner metal? I don't like I don't know. Is it all is it folk metal? Like it's it's got the is it it's not folk metal. It's got the heavy, it's got the it's got the fuzzy down tuned guitars. It's uh anyway. Night stalker.
SPEAKER_02It's a good song.
SPEAKER_01Night stalker return from the point of no return.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so I'm watching so when I when I read your prep for the show to get ready for our show, I uh play on the YouTube, I move it up to my third monitor while I'm reading all your prep and researching with shit. I can't understand. And when I looked up, there's the person black and white, there's a guy with a beard. I thought it was you. I look up, you're in a music video? You didn't tell me? I'm like, no, that's not you, but it really much looks like you. And then if you play the video right at the very, very beginning, you'll see the guy. And I was like, oh shit, I thought it was you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's not me. Oh, he's got more hair than me. Yes, he does head. Yes, he does.
SPEAKER_02But you never know.
SPEAKER_01For the power of film, you could have put a wig on. I don't know. That's true, that's true. Hey, I would have I would have either let off with that video if it was me, or I would have finished it. My my songs if that was me. So it would have been our brand news. But I've got three more songs I'll get through here real quick. Let's go. All right. I talked about war war bringer. War bringer. Uh, come on, get going here. This is uh where's the volume? This now, this is thrash metal, right? This is uh and this is this is off napalm records. Um is that who? The other band did I say that? The gems for did I say napalm records for them? Yep. So what do you think of napalm records? This is more of a band that's uh that you think belongs on the label, right? And uh anyway, this is the sword and the cross. The new album is out now called Wrath and Rune. Anyways, I I I I uh I've listened to this whole album actually, and it's really good. I In fact, I'm tempted to go to the show on Wednesday. Oh shit. But we'll see. I think tickets are 30 bucks. I forget who else is on the bill. They're playing at the Rickshaw. Yeah, I just didn't know Warbringer was around for as long as they have been. Like they've been they've been they've got a few albums out. They've been around for quite a while. I don't know how familiar you are, familiar you are with them, but uh not very. Yeah, it's good stuff. Um I'll definitely have to check out their earlier shit too, because this album really is really good. Uh where am I? Oh, we spoke about Viagra Boys. I know they put a bunch of songs out recently. Um, here's another single that's coming up, the video. I I just I had to I had to include this just because of the video. It's pretty fucking hilarious. Uh it's called the The Bog Body. Um let me just get to it. Takes a little bit. So you gotta watch the video for sure. But let me let me get into the tune here. Uh wow, it takes a while. Here we go. It's just it's just classic Viagra Boy stuff, really. It's just uh it's hilarious. The videos are hilarious, but the tunes are pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
unknownThey found a body buried under the air.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh yeah, just uh just the video. Oh, yeah, it's just hilarious.
SPEAKER_02Because it reminds me of Sean of the Dead.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, the video does for sure. It's quite quite hilarious. Yeah. Anyways, yeah, he's got the hots. Uh the singer for the the band has got the hots for this zombie who walked into a bar and it kind of goes from there. So uh pretty funny. Uh yes, it is off their album that comes out in April, and I see it's called Viagra Boys. They do a Viagra Boys, a play on the name of the band, anyways. Pretty funny. Uh, this last one, I don't know where I I just I just discovered this and I can't remember where. It's a band called Wet Leg. I think they're from the UK.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_01They they actually remind me of the Viagra Boys. That's probably where it comes from. Probably on YouTube. I was listening and playing Viagra Boys, and they sound like the Viagra Boys, except there's a couple of female artists or musicians in there, including the singer. Yeah, I mean this sounds like the Viagra Boys with a female singer, it does.
SPEAKER_02So you know what's weird anyways is that's weird. One, I wouldn't succeed like this is not a tune I expected for you from you. Yeah, uh, and I was like, oh, that's cool. But I like a lot of people have shared the song with me the last couple weeks. Like, well, I think it came up on Thursday or Tuesday, whatever it was, and I can't get into the song. I don't know what it is.
SPEAKER_01You couldn't get into the song?
SPEAKER_02I couldn't get into the song.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what it is. It kind of kicks ass. Yeah I know it's different from my normal heavy stuff that I play, but but I dig this. I I uh yeah, I like it.
SPEAKER_02Maybe I need a couple of you know who this reminds me of is the strokes. The strokes, yeah, maybe a little bit as well. Yeah. But you're right, it does remind me of the the Vagger voice. It's that's a pretty good and I I dig them. That was that was a cool show.
SPEAKER_01Uh but yeah, fuck that's yeah, I should go see them because I never have I've never seen them. I mean, I mean I I could have gone see them. I I mean I've been familiar with that band before they really made it big, really. And uh and I never did see them before when I had a chance. And yeah, so maybe I should check out that show. And when is that? Uh I don't know, the two shows they're uh September at some point. I've got it right here. Is it in September? Two shows at the uh Melkin Bowl anyway. Yeah, September 10, 11. All right, that's my tunes.
SPEAKER_02Solid, solid night of solid tunies tunes. Uh, where was Warbinger playing? Were they rickshaw?
SPEAKER_01They're playing at the Rickshaw, yeah.
SPEAKER_02That could be a cool show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure. I'm it's a Wednesday, excuse me, it's Wednesday night, I think, right? Yeah. I'm thinking about it. For 30 bucks, that's hey, that's up but right up my alley, right? And uh it would be a good show, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_02You know what? If you get there early enough, if you make your way upstairs, you can sit row one in the balcony and be undisturbed.
SPEAKER_01That's true. Yeah, because then you don't need to deal with the bullshit. Deal with the bullshit. You can still see well and you hear pretty good from up there. So definitely good good sound.
SPEAKER_02So that might be the new, you know, as a more I think about it more and more. I'm like, maybe that'll be my new spot, but you have to get there fucking early.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you do, and even if you you're not interested in the opening acts, you've got to yeah, get there early. So I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It's a tough, it's still a tough little game. Let's just about time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then you get screwed because you're waiting around. Yeah. Take a nap. You can pre-nap it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02That's true. Um, that's that's all I got. Do you got anything else for the week?
SPEAKER_01No, I don't have much. Uh one other obituary to report was uh Brian James from The Damned. Uh, one of the he was the original guitar player. Uh early 70s punk band or mid-70s punk band, you know, one of the innovators of punk rock from the UK. Uh yeah, he passed away at 70. I don't know when this happened, but uh yeah, it sucks. So all of these fucking people, you know, we talk about it all the time. They're all getting older. Um and look at the people we we continue to lose uh lose every single year, right? Yeah, just like fuck, it's it's brutal. Sucks.
SPEAKER_02Interesting.
SPEAKER_01So that's about it, man. I we talked a lot about a lot of uh different stuff here today.
SPEAKER_02So covering our bases. It's been a minute, it might be another minute until we get going again, but we'll talk about that later. Well, I'll try.
SPEAKER_01We'll try.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh so with that, I'll say I I hey, are we still on Spotify?
