Why would you want to listen to two old guys yelling at clouds? And the worst thing? One of them likes the Boston Bruins. Ooh, you stuck! Like really likes them. Like sleeps in their jersey. Anyways, if you're still listening, here are Adam and Steven.
SPEAKER_02Yes, welcome out to it. This is the Old Man Who Yellow Clouds podcast when we get together to talk about the things that matter to us. We are episode number 150, as we recorded it is January the 5th, 2025. It's approximately 11 a.m. and we are podcasting live out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
SPEAKER_04Hello. We graciously honor and acknowledge that we join you today from the traditional ancestral and unceded shared territory of the Musqueam Squamish and Slivertooth Nations. We got all of that right so far. Holy shit.
SPEAKER_02Look at us go. Um of course that voice to hear Stephen. Hello, Stephen. I am. Before we get going into the things that mattered to us for I guess been four or five weeks, uh, you can support our podcast by hitting our website, oldmenheatheclows.com, and supporting our podcast. And if you want to help us out, please buy us a coffee. I like coffee. I've had a lot of coffee in the last couple months. Me too. Me too.
SPEAKER_04Well, I just uh I don't slow down, man. I should be, but uh I don't more than ever. Nature's juice. It's nature's juice. Nature's juice. Well, it's kind of water, but but uh nature's juice.
SPEAKER_02Don't fuck with it. Okay, okay. Sorry. Sorry. I'll shut up. Um so how's it going, man? Hey, pretty good. Happy New Year. Happy New Year, happy festivist to you. Yes, thank you. Uh while we were gone, I celebrated a birthday. Uh I'm at a holder, everything hurts, and I'm dying. Fuck, does it hurt? Does it hurt this bad every day? Like, what the fuck? I just it's yes, it does. That's the yes it does.
SPEAKER_04That's all you need to know. It's all downhill, man. It's all downhill. And uh, you've known that for a while. Uh, I've known that for a little bit longer, and it sucks. That's all I have to say.
SPEAKER_02I think I sneezed and broke a rib.
SPEAKER_04Like, honestly, I was like, actually, it can actually happen. Oh, so yeah.
SPEAKER_02It just sucks. Everything just hurts.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it does. Well, happy birthday, because yeah, it's uh it's been a I can't remember, like I think it was was it early to mid-November when we last chatted? Because I I went away to Edmonton on a work thing. Yes. Uh we came back, we were supposed to chat, and I don't know what the fuck happened. Uh, we're both busy. And then Christmas. Christmas. It's like time's flying. I can't believe it's 2025. I I don't know where the time goes. I really don't.
SPEAKER_02Well, this year, f last year, this year, last year flew by really, really quick, I thought. Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it it it does. And and I don't know why it seems that way. The older you get, the faster time seems to fly. It just passes you by. I mean it's it's it's like there's still the same number of seconds, minutes, hours in a day, right? And days and months in a year, but it's just like fuck. I don't know where we're what we're what's happening here. What is it? What is it with this older thing? It's getting older thing, yeah. That's what it is, I guess. Yeah, getting older.
SPEAKER_02You know, as long as we're getting 68 hours a night and sleep, that's really what counts.
SPEAKER_04Well, I suppose it's important. We need it, but uh it's almost like it's a waste of time because well, I I shouldn't say it that way, but it's like you get up, you do some work, you have some fucking supper, and it's you repeat, and that's all life is, it seems.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I gotta get out and live a little bit. But speaking of living, so you finally entered the USA for your holidays. I want to hear all about that trip because I don't know if you're gonna go back since uh a certain person is going to be our new president, so I don't know what you're doing about that moving forward. But how was the mighty San Francisco?
SPEAKER_04Well, yeah, so I we went I went to Vegas, of course, back in October. So that was my first time in a while. But uh yeah, we went to San Francisco just before Christmas. We came back Christmas Day. Uh, it was five nights. Uh, we have been there before, actually, it was 10 years ago when we were last uh guests in the in the city. Um it's it's a cool city, it's a lot like Vancouver, it really is. Um uh it was nice to get away. I can't say that it was uh you know we did anything exciting. Uh my sister and nephew joined us. Uh they were there for four of the five nights. Uh we just had we had a good time. Yeah, we had a good time. We did some walking around, did the hills, did the cable cars, did other public transit, uh, saw some I saw a couple things that we didn't see the previous time. Uh saw some of the things, same things that we saw last time, but uh it was just nice to be away. Did you take the BART? We took the BART, of course. I mean that's I love the BART. The BART is the best way or the cheapest way to get uh down because we were down in the same area. We were down by Union Square, uh right on Powell Street, which is uh one of the lines for the cable cars. Um yeah, the BART is great. We use public transit uh all the time. We used it all four, well, all five days, I guess. So one day we were doing a bit of walking around and not close to transit, so I called an Uber. Uh that was great, uh, easy. Otherwise, we took public transit man everywhere. We took buses, we took other trains, we took uh the cable cars, we took the BART. Um let's see. A couple things we did. Uh we went to a Golden State Warriors basketball game. So we went to the new Chase uh Center, uh it's called. What a crazy it's a it's a nice arena, it's brand new. I think it opened in 2019. The video screen is just massive. Yeah, it's really beautiful. Uh so that was one of the things we did this time. Uh we also went to, I'm trying to think what was different. Uh we went to the what's it called? Uh it's called the San Francisco National Cemetery. It's um so it's the military, I guess is that what you want to call it? It's the military cemetery. Um and and fuck, you know, I'm sure you've seen seen these cemeteries with all of the white crosses, like just rows and rows and rows of white crosses. And it's um I I think I read that there are 11 million military personnel buried at that cemetery.
SPEAKER_03It's just like it's like, holy fuck, man.
SPEAKER_04It's just and of course they go back, I mean, a lot of them go back to uh World War II, of course, but even even before that. I mean, obviously probably World War One, probably some other uh wars and shit and uh stuff that have happened over the last uh couple hundred years, but yeah, it's just it's it's it's really sobering to see all of these gravesites and markers uh in a row like that, and just the number of people who have who have dedicated their lives to serving.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's it's crazy. I just googled a photo of it. It looks looks massive, but it's the cool thing is you can see the uh the the the golden bridge behind it.
SPEAKER_04Yes, yeah, because it's very close to the we walked from the from the Golden State Bridge to this cemetery. Uh I guess it was about a 20 or 25 minute walk or something like that, so it wasn't too bad. Um we yeah, yeah, it's it's we seem to visit cemeteries every time we go to these uh different uh cities and countries and stuff like that. And you you do learn a lot, and it's uh it's maybe crazy and morbid for some people, but yeah, I think it's kind of interesting to see interesting to see, you know, and learn about um you know about the history of some of these places. So yeah, it's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_02No, I think it's cool. You're honoring the people who fought for us, and uh, I think it's I think it's cool. And that that place looks massive. What the I don't think the photos do it justice. Was it huge?
SPEAKER_04It's it's huge, for sure. Yeah. We we we kind of went in uh we hopped over the gate. We kind of went in the back entrance, I guess. So we we uh we we hopped uh the gate was locked, uh so we kind of hopped over a short stone wall or you know, that's just that surrounds the this the entire cemetery, and so we were on the outer path, I guess, of that cemetery. And I mean, yes, and and again, the the rows of crosses just go on, it seems like forever. And it's um because we you know, I I I mean, I'm pretty sure the cemetery was open, and I think that's why I had no problem doing it. But at the same time, you kind of wonder like, is somebody watching us, is somebody gonna come driving up to us and and uh and arrest us here for well for whatever, I don't know. Kind of crazy, but um because uh yeah, there was nobody else there. I mean it the weather wasn't great, it was kind of light and mist all day. Uh there weren't a lot of the we didn't see anybody else. Um we saw a couple workers when we walked ended up walking around to the main entrance area and you know, some people working yeah in the area and stuff like that. But yeah, there was nobody there. So um the other thing about San Francisco is when we arrived, it was so quiet. The and I was surprised because it was we got there on the 20th. Okay. Uh the airport here in Vancouver was quiet. The airport in San Francisco when we arrived was quiet, the transit lines were quiet. Uh we got to our hotel in that area around Union Square. It was fairly quiet. But in a couple of days, it sure got busy. So you know it was Christmas time, you know people were probably still working and traveling. But come, let's see, the 20th was a Friday, come like Sunday, Monday, especially. Yeah, it was very busy on Monday. Like a lot of people had come into the city in that area, and it was crazy everywhere. So uh what day would that have been? It would have been the 23rd? The 23rd was the Monday, yeah. Okay, yeah. So, and then we left Christmas Day. I'm surprised. Even Christmas Day when we came back, though, it was so quiet. Like you know, you hear these horror stories about traveling during Christmas time, and we had no issues at all. We it was quiet, we had no delays or anything like that. So it was kind of it was kind of good. Wow, okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, that sounds cool. Did you have fun or are you planning to go back?
SPEAKER_04Or no, no, we had a good time. Um, I'm sure there's lots we could have done, and there's lots we did not see. I just I think if we are going to go down again, we probably will visit someplace else that we haven't been to before. 100%, yeah. Uh San Francisco is a cool place, it's a nice city, but uh yeah, let's uh let's explore something else next time. And as you said though, uh it could be a while again with uh with the dumpster fire down happening uh coming in January. Well, coming this month. Uh he's gonna be officially taking over as president again, and uh I think that's going to kind of uh put a pause on our travel plans again. We'll see what happens. I'm never gonna say never because it didn't really pan out last time. I think I said never, but um anyway, we'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_02Are we gonna join as the 51st date?
SPEAKER_04What a fucking asshole, eh? Like he is such a fucking arrogant bully. The way he talks like that, the way he talks about other people and other nations, he has absolutely no fucking respect. Yeah, not none at all. He's just a fucking dick. And and it's and it's really it's really hard to take anybody like that seriously. Yeah, it really is. And yet he's he gets away with that bullshit. That's the thing that pisses me off. Yeah he gets away with it, and he just and it and it almost uh the the silence or the the the the lack of a response. I mean, what are you gonna say to the about that anyways? But still, it just seems to egg them on. Like it just seems to keep because nobody there's because there's no backlash against him, really. Yeah, he's just gonna keep on doing it.
SPEAKER_02It's like he's missing well, he's we know he's missing brain cells, but this like it's just it just doesn't make any sense. He says the most stupidest things at the stupidest times, and this guy's leading us the next week. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_04So I don't I don't know how yeah, I don't know. It's really sad. So we'll see what happens with that too. Oh fuck.
SPEAKER_02Uh well with that say being said, we uh I'm planning to go to New York in June. I've never been to New York City, the big apple. So my dad wants to go there for his 70th birthday, I think he said. I think it's 70. I don't know, but he wants to go there for his birthday. So yeah, cool. Uh we are going there in June. I'm gonna go there for five, I think it's five sleeps. Yeah and then because Toronto's so close, I'm gonna rip over to Toronto for two or three days and visit uh some C Fox alumni. Uh go visit Miss Elena. Yep. Uh Miss Gladi. I'll go visit uh Sarah over there. She now she's on the big radio, she's on Sirius XM, but I haven't seen her since she interned with us, I don't know, like 15 years ago. So wow, yeah. Yeah, she's she's kicking some ass over there. So that's I'm gonna do that in June. So that's my big trip this year.
SPEAKER_04Cool. That that'll be fun. New York is is probably on our list as well. It's really expensive there too. It's it's it's um, I mean, we noticed this when uh when we went to Europe uh earlier last year, our first real big trip, I guess, uh expensive everywhere. Of course, the Canadian dollar sucks. Uh so exchange rates make it even more expensive. But San Francisco, but San Francisco, this the the prices in San Francisco are exactly the same as they are here. So you go get a cup of coffee, you get uh you buy stuff at the store, the prices are the same. So it's it's it's it's not any cheaper, any more expensive that way. But again, you factor in the the cost of the exchange rate, and it's just fucking it's nuts. And right now, I think the Canadian dollar is at its lowest point in like since before COVID, I think, anyways. Yeah, it's so it's it sucks. That's and and the problem is no matter where you travel now, unless you stay in Canada, no matter where you travel, you're gonna be fucked. You're gonna be paying so much money, and it's it's I don't under I we talked about this before. I don't understand why there is such a big difference in our dollar compared to the Canadian or compared to the American dollar or the euro or the pound. I mean, sure, economies are different and blah blah blah and all that sort of stuff, but why is it such a difference? Like, like one US dollar costs you like a dollar forty-eight Canadian.
SPEAKER_03It's like holy fuck.
SPEAKER_04Like, yeah, like it's just uh I just yeah, yeah, I can't I can't believe it. It's so it makes it really tough to go anywhere. That's the other thing. It really yeah, it's really tough to travel right now, and yet a lot of people are still going.
SPEAKER_02So we just gotta get the fuck out, you know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Well, true, and you find a way and you just do it, and whatever you deal with your bills after when you return, but still it's like shh, you know, you look at we didn't do anything crazy or anything like that, and we didn't think we were spending a lot of money, but then that exchange rate just kills you.
SPEAKER_03It's just like like yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Crazy.
SPEAKER_02You look at your credit card statement, you're like, what the fuck have I done?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, that's why we go to work every day, I guess.
SPEAKER_02So that sucks. There you go. Uh speaking of work, I uh while you're gone, I had like a month off. So during the month, I wasn't really doing much. I made a birthday. Uh during that time I became single again, so that's fucking great. Fucking it's a good thing. It's just uh I don't know. It just kind of kind of happens, and I'm just like, okay, well, sweet. Sorry to hear that, but I don't know. It's sucks. I'm just gonna single for life, baby. Um but during that time, so I celebrated my birthday and went to an arcade and there was a brewery right next to it. Just got fucking hammered. So we're playing video games, drinking beers, hopped on the train, went ripped down down to Devil's Elbow because I was gonna go to Kelly O'Brien's because it was a new west where we were having a party, but it was all booked up for holiday functions. So I was like, fuck it, we'll just go down to Devil's Elbow. Made a reservation, no problem. But I don't remember the ride back. I don't remember getting in an Uber, I don't remember taking a shower, I don't remember playing Call of Duty after. Like, I don't know. There's a bunch of stuff that's leaving holes in my mind. So, but oh man, it was it was a good time. Um, that's good. But then a week after that, uh, because I was off, I took an overtime shift to work the Taylor Swift concert. So I worked the Swift concert on the 6th. Yeah, and that was actually it was a really fun night. It was cool energy in the city, it was a good time. I actually attended the show on the 8th, and I was sick as fuck on the Tuesday. I was so sick. I those damn Swifties got me sick. Wow. So I was sick at like uh I don't know, and the Wednesday I lost my voice. It came back on Friday night, and then that Saturday would have been the 11th or the 12th, I started relief supervisor training for work. And that was the day of that major windstorm we had. Yep. Do you remember that? And uh so that day for a like training to get trained for it was a shit show because everything was out of everything is out of whack and we're all sick, and I was sick for a couple, like a week after that, and then I was fine, and then I got sick again. I don't know, I'm I don't know. There's like a whole bunch of shit going on. There's like walking pneumonia going around. There's that new, I don't know if you've seen anything, but there's that new thing coming out of China that's being reported on. Have you seen this?
SPEAKER_04Uh uh no, I don't well refresh my memory. I'm not sure if I read something about this one.
SPEAKER_02Uh it's the H it's like uh it's this new thing. Uh it's they're saying it's like COVID part two. Um where was it? It's the HMP virus. Uh HMPV. China steps up emergency measures amid new virus outbreak. Oh, great. Uh China is experiencing a surge in infections of respiratory virus leading to overcrowded hospitals, emergency measures, and public concerns of an outbreak. The virus, identified as a human HMPV, has seen cases spiking across northern Chinese provinces of Hmong this winter, particularly among children. The outbreak comes five years after the world was first alloaded to the emergence of COVID, which later turned into a global pandemic when seven million deaths were reported. And it just goes off. But yeah, HMPV. So that's that's new. So that that's within a couple of days, so that's not good.
SPEAKER_04No, no kidding.
SPEAKER_02So I'm sure there'll be more news and stuff break in the next couple days. So, you know, we're not your go-to news source, but you can fucking come listen to us and we'll help you guys know. Uh but um, yeah, so that's that's just great. But uh yeah, but anyways, I don't have that obviously, but uh I'm still sick, I'm still coughing. I don't know what's going on. It's just I don't think I'm run down, I'm sleeping enough, but staying hydrated is a big thing. A lot of people aren't hydrated. You gotta stay hydrated. Uh you when I'm doing to stay hydrated, is I'm actually adding like I have a thing of water every morning, and I actually add like uh we have a salt shaker, and I actually like do two twists of salt in my water like that to give you extra electrolytes and stuff.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if you do that or if you've heard about that or I don't do that.
SPEAKER_04I I mean, yeah, there's probably some benefit to depending on on what your lifestyle is like, I suppose. Um, especially if you are um if you are very active, uh I would see that being helpful, I suppose. I try and avoid salt. Uh you know, I don't put I don't work with salt. I don't put salt on really very much. Um it's the blood pressure thing. Not that I don't have high blood pressure, and I guess that's the thing. I don't want to have any other any problem with it. So yeah. Um yeah, I've never been a really fan of salty foods. I mean there's some things that do taste good of chips, uh some salt on your your your corn, your fresh corn, I guess. Corn on the cob, salt on popcorn, not that I'm a big popcorn fan. Um but yeah, I don't usually use salt at all, so um yeah.
SPEAKER_02I like you, I just put it in my water and eat a bunch of chips, so that's how I get myself. Okay. Alright, that that works. Yeah, shit. Uh did you end up doing anything for New Year's Eve? Uh no, no.
SPEAKER_04In fact, you know what? I think we're in bed by 10 30. Uh that's that's probably the earliest. Um it just you know what? You know what, here's here's my thing, and I know, and I know it's uh unpopular opinion. But New Year's New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, like I guess and and okay, so I'm older, I don't go out partying and stuff, and I don't like to bother with any of that. shit and I don't drink and whatever I don't know I don't know what the reason is I'll blame it on age but um I just don't give a shit about New Year's Eve. Here here's here's the thing why how did this all start anyways what is the why why do people feel the need to celebrate the new year? What I I mean it it to me it's just another day right and and these new years resolutions that people make they're just bullshit and they never work anyways uh why I I mean the the the the what's the word I'm looking for the idea the the you know by celebrating the new the new year by partying New Year's Eve or doing whatever you do New Year's Eve and then bringing in the new year has been a tradition I guess for probably hundreds of years but but why I'm understanding why why did it happen in the first place what is it supposed to signify what is the meaning of it why do we still do it because it's it's just another fucking day man it really is yeah like what what what is I I I don't understand it anymore I I I really don't and times times have changed right and it's just like what what's the big deal about celebrating another fucking day like really what what what yeah tell me tell me please tell me well imagine if it was imagine if it was New Year's Eve every every end of the month hey it's Friday the 31st we gotta get fucked up because it's gonna be February in the day yeah it just doesn't make sense it I I I don't I mean it's it's to me it's worse than than Christmas because I mean Christmas is a joke it's so commercialized now and it's just to me it's just another day I'm not a religious person so I don't give a shit. And if you are okay that's great and if you celebrate that then good for you you can do what you want and I have no problem with that but it's like oh it's like holy fuck I mean it's I don't I don't I don't get the meaning of it or significance of it anymore. I really don't I don't care and I don't know I don't know you know I don't know why people feel that they need to have go out partying and do I mean hey if you still want to get together with friends then great but you can do that at any time anyways why do you have to wait for December 31st to get together with some friends yeah it's like it's like fuck man I it's yeah I don't know it's yeah it just doesn't make sense to me is there any I get I think that you know the best thing to celebrate I think is your birthday yes it's just uh it's just a fun time I don't like whatever whatever you end up doing but birthdays are a special time I think because yeah this is cool yeah and and for us and we even kind of you know we used to exchange all kinds of cards all the time greeting cards and stuff like that for all the occasions and bullshit but we even made a decision to say for for a number of reasons but you know let's celebrate birthdays and anniversary right and that includes the greeting cards and doing other things and and whatever and of course we're saving paper by not buying those expensive greeting cards as well and um you know there's there's there's ways people can uh you know celebrate the meaningful days in their lives and they're they're more important days than New Year's Eve that's for sure like you said so yeah anyway that's my that's my rant of first rant of 2025 let's celebrate it let's go go get drunk tomorrow because of my rant how's that I'm in okay put me in coach we'll meet we'll meet after we're done here how's that oh shit that seems like a lot of work I have to go to work it's bullshit well fuck work I don't know it doesn't matter it's 2025 you don't need to work it's already too early to use a sick call so uh can't use that no it's true all right uh what else happened i uh i had to buy a new keyboard recently uh my keyboard just stopped working I don't know what the fuck happened it was 15 years old I had a Razor Black Widow version one so I what do you what uh peripherals do you use are you Razer are you Logitech what do you uh are you Coshair what are you using for your peripherals or is it laptop keyboard kind of thing no it's it's uh Logitech I've got a Logitech uh Bluetooth mouse and keyboard uh uh actually my mic or my headphone my headphone my um camera is also Logitech uh and then of course I've got the different headphones I've got the um Elgato microphone but yeah when it comes to keyboard mouse it's um it's Logitech and they're actually quite good because I work from home and stuff like that I've I can set up three devices off of each like for my mouse I can set up three different devices I hit a button and I can switch the device so it really comes in handy when I'm switching you know between my work laptop and my personal laptop I just hit a button and and away we go so uh so yeah it works out really well I I do I do enjoy it I I mean I I never honestly looked at some of the other manufacturers uh of these devices I'm sure there's maybe something better but these seem to serve me well so um so I'll stick with them that's pretty good um I so I ended up getting a lot of Logitech keyboard Black Widow 4 I guess is the newest one but it was crazy to see the connectors because on the first one it was one of the first uh RGB lighting up fucking dumb keyboards and you and you see it and you're like this this keyboard had four USB connectors.
SPEAKER_02I was like holy shit I didn't that's where all my ports went because I just forgot and uh looking at this thing it's it's massive the thing like it had four things into a massive thick like almost looked like a zero gauge electric cable popping into the back and it got smaller as you kind of went up but this new one has like just a USB C it's nice and simple it's just it's crazy to see how much technology has advanced over I guess 15 years for keyboard technology but yeah it's a great keyboard it's it's thick it's made out of metal so I hope it lasts another 10 years because I I had a good run with it so that's that's what counts and it's cool that it's all lit up and stuff and I have it like lit up like a purpley blue thing but well is that why like what are what are the what is the purpose of the USB ports to to you can probably you can cut just connect additional peripherals oh no no no so like the what is it for the cable had four USB to get the lights going and all that shit all the light cable I see it wasn't for anything else it was just to get the thing up and running. Okay okay so there's there's no uh there's no inputs or anything on the keyboard it's just a regular keyboard.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Because I've got uh the MX keys uh keyboard from Logitech uh I think there's a couple different models but the one I've got is uh it's a pretty like it's um it's a metal case as well and there's some there's some weight to it there's it's it's it's a it's a pretty heavy keyboard I guess uh but of course it is wireless it uses uh well I think it would use uh uh usb because I think there's a dongle that I could probably use but it's it's Bluetooth I mean I connect to it to it to my devices my laptops and stuff uh through Bluetooth so yeah it works out it works out really well yeah and because I'm in a small place a small desk and I've got enough fucking cables and shit lying around I don't need something else for a mouse and a and a keyboard here too so yeah but uh I mean anything like everything everything's out shape this keyboard was like 250 holy wow I was like oh yeah I just I can't win I just I'm just like what the fuck and you kind of need a keyboard to do things like nothing is booting up I'm like this is fucked I had to go to buy yeah well you gotta go to work today then for sure yeah you can't uh you gotta you gotta pay for all this stuff you mean I can't go drinking fuck no go directly to work okay don't pass the bar don't collect $200 while you spent you $200 so $250 yeah luckily I had some uh Best Buy gift cards kicking around but uh those are always handy those are nice so you can always find something to to buy at that place right oh 100% and then there's like uh well I was shopping for tech keyboard it's Best Buy some lady comes up to me I got like she tried to sell me something she's like can I trade you can I interest you in the cell phone plan I'm like no your cell phone plan is not gonna beat my fucking cell phone you can stop talking to me oh are you sure a hundred percent I'm trying to find a keyboard and get the fuck out because it was like it was like December I don't know 15th or 16th so the malls were just getting busier and busier busier yeah and I like it was there I was here at like six o'clock just trying to get a keyboard and get the fuck out but she's just kept I'm like lady you're you're like nothing's gonna happen like cell phone you're not gonna beat much oh what do you got I'm like I have unlimited everything for 50 bucks she's like really how'd you get that I'm like quit talking to me and I fucking turned and walked away it seems like no matter where you go now they're trying to upsell you right yeah uh they always want you to spend more money and even if you walked in with a specific purchase uh purchase purpose whatever uh they always want you to buy they want you to spend more money so that's all they want to do uh speaking of cell phone plans I renegotiated our plan through TELUS and you know it was it was such a pain in the ass to negotiate a new like a deal like you know it it's it's like it's like I called the loyalty department and okay so we have we have two lines here for for the two of us and last year I also purchased a uh mobile phone for my mom. Okay. So three three lines on our account. Uh I actually got my sister now because her her previous plan and even though they're out of province uh her previous plan expired so I actually thought about bringing her on board because with TELUS because with TELUS if you have four lines on your plan or on your account uh that's fifteen dollars off each line so you say fifteen dollars per person uh so that's um so that's 60 bucks right there you save 60 bucks off your monthly bill um but to to negotiate with TELUS now and it's like that for all of them and it's not like it used to be it used to be so easy to call the loyalty departments yeah hey what can you do for me okay how about this uh sure that sounds pretty good and away you go right yeah now it's like you have to haggle and wheel and deal so much so it's like so it's like okay I I call them up I've been a c a TELUS customer for 25 years now almost 25 years a TELUS mobility customer uh what can you do for me? Okay so he gives me his first option is uh basically basically what we're paying now and and and the first the very first thing they do all the time is try and give you more data it's like no man I don't want more data I've got more than enough data now I don't even come close to using that uh I want to pay less money per month that's why I'm calling okay well then he goes back he puts me on hold and he goes back and he comes back with another option and it's really not any different it's like it's like man you're wasting my time here what like seriously put me through to your supervisor let me talk to him no no he they can't do that anymore they don't it's just completely different from the way it used to be anyways he went back and I'm not I'm not exaggerating he went back four or five times and he finally came back with an option for all four of us because my sister's getting a new phone but anyways he came back with the same plan for all four of us and with that $15 off per line we're paying uh $55 a month for each for 200 gigs of shared data. So basically we have 800 gigs of shared data for four lines for $55 each which I think is pretty damn good. That's pretty good yeah um no no contracts or nothing like that. So well there is on her phone because of course she's doing that bring it back thing so she gets she has to keep her phone for two years. Anyway anyway it's nice and simple now all four lines are the same price it makes it easy to manage. And I'm finally thinking that you know we've got to because it came down in price. We were paying I don't know I forget what we were paying before but it was more than that. So now we have more data for a cheaper price. Again I don't give a shit about data but uh anyways it's become such a pain in the ass to deal with these telcos now because data to them is nothing. Right? They'll they'll give out all kinds of data. They don't give a shit yeah they don't give a shit it's it's the uh it's the dollars here that they kill you uh with every single time and on every single plan that they offer um anyways uh it took a lot of like I was on the phone with this guy for a couple days actually we were haggling and wheeling and dealing and and stuff like that for a period of two or three days and I finally got uh something that I liked. So uh so I guess uh the the lesson is you know don't give up and these companies uh do have some wiggle room and I think it's important that people realize that uh they charge too much money and that you could always uh find a way to get something a little bit cheaper so um yeah people need to understand that because most people just say okay well uh yeah it's too much money but I need my phone okay I'll pay it yeah and and and and TELUS and all these other companies just laugh at those people um yeah you really have to bargain I guess bargain barter whatever it's called there's always a there's always a cheaper price available than what they first offer you so that's rant number two rant number two of 2025 that's not bad we should be we should make that a shirt what's what's whatever always barter yes yeah you you you you you in most things today you can barter like if you go buy a TV you're spending two thousand dollars on a TV or whatever price yeah you can you can barter like uh typically um you know sure there's groceries you can't barter you buy stuff off Amazon that's the price uh the you know there's no way to barter but but but electronics in particular uh you go buy car you can barter um yeah you know things like that you can you know yeah you people people need to you know try and do whatever they can to cut their costs uh uh for these things so yeah that's TV is like you can't barter like or barter at Best Buy but you can do like visions or something yeah they'll I go with you a little bit yeah yeah or Costco doesn't work at Costco I wish it worked at Costco imagine that that'd be true yeah that's true they will price match without a problem uh all of these places I guess do price matching um so so that's good because if you and that's why it's good to shop around yes you have to shop around for sure yeah no that's great um yeah that's actually really good advice 50 yeah that's not bad do you have like unlimited uh that can you do Canada US and Mexico oh yes yeah sorry so it's Canada US Mexico and Caribbean I thought it was kind of strange that they threw in Caribbean as well but anyways so so yeah lots of uh lots of roaming when you're traveling North America so yeah that's uh so that's cool yeah cool fuck you winning that's a win winning winning yes for sure winning uh Taylor Swift let's get back to that too like what what do you did you have a good time I'm sure you did because you love Taylor Swift uh oh man I do I ever love me some Tay Tay you know what and I'm gonna rant some more oh number three baby number three number three so let's we're starting the year right here the thing that I like I and again people want to go see Taylor Swift and and spend all that money then go for it to have fun what I think is just absolutely disgusting I guess if you want to put it that way the number of people who admitted and I even read this I mean I heard about this but I also read it uh in various places the number of people who went into withdrawal after the concert after her tour ended it's like it's like they're they were talking and they were so depressed and it's like their fucking lives were over. It's like oh man what the hell is wrong with you people hey if you went to the show and you enjoyed it great I'm happy for you but come on like life goes on get back to fucking work and pay for your fucking tickets that you probably overpaid for and um yeah like like it's just it's just crazy. I I I it's the the number of people who just couldn't get over the tour ending.
SPEAKER_02And yeah it's like I can't believe these people have never seen a concert before because we see a lot of shows shows and like you know you see your favorite artists they come to leave you're like okay that was cool I'm happy I gotta saw them it's an experience and it's a memory that's it's it's like the these people have never seen shows before it's just like who it's a show like you fucking move on with your life it's nothing you know it's it's cool to see and cool to witness and cool to experience but that's it. It's a moment in time where you can enjoy yourself. But yeah right move the fuck on with your life.
SPEAKER_04But it's but it's people I think who have I have heard and I read that it's people who have seen it's not their first show. They in fact some of them have seen and followed her around and have seen her a number of times on this tour. And it's like it's like they're it's it's little their lives are over because the tour is done. It's like what am I gonna do now?
SPEAKER_02It's just like come on already what the hell what's wrong with you going to save your money like that's like I got uh I got a pair of free tickets to that. So otherwise I never would have been able to go. And there are decent seats but I was in the building and there's uh like any show that we've been to there's a lot of it was a lot of energy like it was just awesome I've never seen so many people dressed up I was finally outnumbered from the girl to guy ratio there's like 20 girls to like one dude it was awesome. So that that was a nice that was a nice little touch but uh it was just it was a like it was an event it was cool um but any show you go to is fucking cool yeah you know like it's a it's a it's a moment in time it's awesome and I don't think I'll ever beat this year for concerts for me because I've I saw the arguably the biggest names in history this year in shows um Metallica Billy Eilish Taylor Swift Rolling Stones Foo Fighters Pantera the Springsteens Thornley Corn Green Day Smash and Pumpkins Robert Plants Pearl Jam Matthew Good Seven Dusk Crosses and Machine Head Wow Those too yeah no I wrote that down oh okay uh but uh yeah like those are arguably the biggest names in like Metallica by themselves done with the foo fighters okay cool throw in like Bruce Springsteen you get the classic with Green Day like holy shit even Pearl Jam throwing it I saw Pearl Jam three times this year I wasn't going through withdrawal we just threw just in town and we got a cheap pair of tickets to see him in Seattle so that was you know that's a little bit of a road trip but yeah a show's a show man just get over it and move on with your life but like I mean exactly yeah that's exactly it I mean I mean we were out uh over that period and there were a shit ton of people in the city and you know we talked about this before you know some businesses maybe they did benefit but for the average Joe we're not going to see any of that cash or any of that money that came into the city and stuff right and the other thing is you know the exchanging of beads and all that sort of stuff hey again if it if you're into that and if it brings people together and if you're having a good time then then great all for it but you know then you see these things about the signs and stuff around the city and it's like I I mean I can't even walk down the street because there's a group of people just want a fucking picture in front of that sign.
SPEAKER_04It's like like what the and and where did the money come from to to put those signs to make those signs and put them in place anyway I mean where where did it come from did did Taylor Swift pay for any of that probably not did I mean maybe she does maybe it happens in every city I I don't know but like where like where where does that money come from um is that tax dollars I I have no idea I I'm asking because I mean I don't know I'm bringing it up because I don't know um and sure now they're reusing some of those signs and they've got different phrases and stuff like that over the over the holiday season and and whatever then okay great but it's like I don't know fine I'm no fun whatever I'll admit It. I'll admit it, but they call this city no fun city for a reason. I guess I'm one of the people who are part of that, so I suppose. But um I like I don't know. It's just uh it's just like the people, the city went just absolutely crazy over this stuff, and I just I don't know, I don't get it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know. She's just an artist, it's just a person coming in, playing a couple shows, and leaving.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But like we I mean, obviously, uh this year we both saw the Rolling Stones, huge bucketless band for us. Did we feel that way? Like it was it was cool to be there and it was awesome to experience and stuff, but I I didn't go through withdrawal after. No, I was more happy to have seen a band I grew up listening to for the first time, and probably the only time.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. Yeah, but I didn't fucking cry after the show and oh no, I'm never gonna see them again, and oh mixing uh he's gonna be dead tomorrow, and I'm gonna be solo sad.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, yeah, it's uh I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I went to work the next day, and or well, whatever. I think it was on a Friday, but whatever, you know what I mean. Life goes on.
SPEAKER_02So life goes on. It's just a show. And if you experience that shit, go see more live music. Live music is key. Yeah, for sure. Um, the best part also, like you know, we've talked about concert etiquette many a times. When I was at that Swifty show, there was uh everybody was having a fucking great time. Everybody was there, everyone was dancing, everybody was singing. It was it was super cool. It uh I quite uh I quite enjoyed it. So yeah, but yeah, fuck. It was uh it was an experience. It was an experience. Do you have uh anything on the list for since we're talking about shows for 2025? Uh nothing lined up. Nothing lined up.
SPEAKER_04I I actually took a peek at ACDC tickets, uh, and I couldn't even s see that there were any available, even resale. I don't know that any were available at that time, which is kind of odd, but I didn't spend a lot of time. I don't know, I didn't have a good look, and I don't think we're serious about going anyways. Uh ticket prices are probably a little too much. Uh we've seen her a little too much. Two or three times before in the past, I don't know how many times, but um I don't think I need to see them again. Um I wouldn't mind seeing Carrie King next week or the week after. Um but yeah, I have no tickets for anything, I have no plans. Um yeah, nothing's nothing's really caught my eye where I have to absolutely say that I'm going. Right. So yeah. Um yeah. How about yourself?
SPEAKER_02Uh I gotta I got a fuck ton of shit lined up. Like it's just like I I think I have 11 shows lined up. I got some 41 coming up next week. I'm going to Bellingham to see the dirty nil. I've never really heard of them before. They're kind of like a punky band. Yeah. Uh that going to see Deftones in Seattle. I'm gonna go see Kelsey Ballerini and Poppy in Seattle. I got Kill Switch and Gage lined up. I got Inflamed lined up, Spirit Box, I got fucking Creed lined up. Oh no. Can you take me? I'm so excited. So excited. Um, my dad wanted to go see ZZ Top, so I bought him tickets for his birthdayslash Father's Day this year. And I also bought tickets for Lincoln Park coming in September.
SPEAKER_04Oh, cool. That Lincoln Park show is here, right? Yeah, here. The Zoom show. Where's that?
SPEAKER_02It's here, it's at the River Rock. Or it's at the Canadian or the uh whatever the Great Canadian Great Canadian Casino, whatever it is. The one in Coquitlam, Hard Rock, old hard rock. The old hard rock, yeah. Where you went to go see Judas Priest and we fucking caught one song. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_04Shit. Um button. Uh what was I gonna say? Oh fuck, I know I forget. I forget what I was gonna say. Um shit. No, I can't remember. We're talking about music, live. Yeah, there's there was another tour I thought that had come up, I think, and I can't remember who it was. I was gonna ask you if you were going in. Oh, uh System of a Down. You saw those three or four. Well, there's a bunch of shows planned now, I think. Yeah, I think Toronto was was two dates and with Deftones, actually. Yeah, that was awesome. I was wondering if you were going to catch that. That would be that would be really cool. I don't think I'll fly to Toronto to see them, but uh if that if System of a Down came uh through Vancouver, if they extended the tour, did some more dates, I would consider that, I guess. Yeah. Um, I've never seen them before. Not not a my not a favorite band by any means, but since I've never seen them, probably be a pretty decent show.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've had the chance to see them twice. I saw them at Ozfest at one point and they came through in like 20, 2008 or something like that. I saw them there. Yeah. Um, but no, it's um tickets for that were expensive. The Toronto tickets were like in between, like so it was. I think it's like it's either it's it deftones or is it corn?
SPEAKER_04So they're playing the system of it was with deftones. I think the Toronto show, both of them were with Deft Tones, which would have made it uh so much better for sure. For me, at least.
SPEAKER_02And then and in California, they're playing with corn, and then somewhere else they're playing with Aveng Sevenfold.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I mean that's I mean, that's pretty solid double bill right there. But yeah, uh tickets for that were like in between like 300 starting and 800 tops, like for lower bowl. Like that's expensive. Like, yeah, it is. So, I mean, but every is everything is it is it that much to run tours right now? Like, I don't understand why everything got so expensive.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the stadium tours just seem to be getting just the prices are just nuts. Like, I'm sure ACDC is not cheap. Um anything at BC Place is gonna be crazy. Yeah. Um, it's just I don't know how people spend are able to spend that much money or afford that much money now to see these different artists and stuff. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, I think I freedom hitch my quota. Like, I don't know if I'm gonna like I've spent so much money already, I haven't even seen the show yet. You know, like it's just like but um a couple of those nights and doing like an overnight. I usually rip back. Um go see a show in Seattle and rip back, but for both these shows, actually, I'm gonna stay a night.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um going down with a bunch of friends and and doing some stuff. So it's gonna be it's a different experience. I usually rip down and rip back because it's just easier because hotels are so expensive. Yeah. But no, it'll be okay. So those are the years. It's gonna be. I don't think I'll top last year of shows 2024, but off to a good start. Right on, have fun. I will do so. I will do so. Uh, what else is happening? Um yeah, I think we've caught up. You know, you've sent some awesome prep about uh using encrypted messaging apps. So I still use texting a lot, so it's uh like a couple of us will use signal. Fuck. Okay, so I have different friends who use different apps. I use uh Facebook Messenger, I use regular text messaging for different people, I use iMessage, I use WhatsApp, I use Signal, and that's it. So I use five different apps for different groups of people, and it honestly drives me fucking bonkers. Yeah. Because everyone's on different things. I'd rather just send them a fucking personalized email, but it's just like, oh yeah, fuck, that doesn't work. So a lot of the stuff you see, like well, I mean, it's not I don't know how true it is because I was reading all your prep, but it's like, oh yeah, encrypted end-to-end encryption and all this shit. I'm like, well, now that I've read all your stuff, I'm like, that's not right. You know, it's just like um, so it seems like Signal is the best messaging app that you can use.
SPEAKER_04It is the it is, yes, it is just like flat out, it's the best app available right now. Yeah. Uh out of the box without setting any options, any additional options or settings. It uh offers uh end-to-end encryption. Um and there's some new features now that have been brought on, which make it even a better messaging app overall. So it's not just the security, it's there's some other features now that that put it up there with some of the other like it's not just a security type communication tool now. It's um it's um it is it they're trying to do these things. I mean, I think privacy and security is still the number one focus for the developers of the app, but now it's got these other things to try and bring in some of these people who are saying, like yourself, you know, you've you've got all your friends on this one app, and the features are so much, it's more feature-rich, you know, you can do more things. So they're trying to do this other stuff now to make it a an all-around uh communication tool like Zoom, like Teams, uh, like WhatsApp, and like some of the other big ones out there. Um because because because the the number one issue with Signal, and this this is going back. I've had Signal on our in our prep here for a long time now. So uh there's some other stuff that's you know, I had talked, uh, I had noted about Telegram, and I can still list those um on the website for the for the episode here. We won't get into all that stuff, but yeah, the number one uh concern with most people when it comes to Signal in the past was the fact that you had to give out your phone number. Now, and this goes back almost a full year now. Uh now uh you you can make up a username, you can create a username for your account. Uh, signal is still tied to your phone number, but when you share, when you want to chat with somebody, you don't need to give out your phone number anymore. And that was the big thing for journalists and stuff in particular. Nobody wants to hand out their phone number to strangers and you know what problems can result from that. So now you can um now your phone numbers are invisible, and you basically share a username with people, and they that's how they connect with you, and you can chat. Uh, so that was the biggest thing that signal the developers have resolved. So, yeah, with that out of the way, now they're able to do some other things. And uh late last year they um um they have made uh basically improved their signal calling so you now you can have audio and video calling, uh you can create links, you can do a you can do group calls. Uh basically they've made it now as an alternative to um to Zoom and Teams, which is awesome. Which is awesome, yeah. I mean, we could be right now. We are using another well, we're using a browser through a company called Video Ninja to chat right now. We could realistically be using Signal. I mean, we would still have to record locally and do all that stuff as we always do, but we could be chatting right now using Signal, right? And it would be completely, completely encrypted, completely, you know, privacy, no privacy, uh security concerns or anything like that, right? So so they're they're looking and they're tweaking the app and doing some different things like this to make it a more all-around uh communication tool for people. Um back to the privacy security stuff. Um a lot of government agencies now are recommending Signal because it's because of the privacy and security element. Uh in fact, uh CISA, uh CISA stands for the uh it's the it's the US's uh federal cyber defense uh I don't know what that stands for, some sort of cybersecurity agency or something like that uh in in the United States. Uh they as well as the FBI in the United States are recommending people use signal over any other app. But here's here's so here's the funny thing about all that. Uh well the reason why they're doing it is because they're they claim China is intercepting or hacking into uh these telecoms, and that's where and that's where your regular SMS comes in. Yes, uh some forms of SMS now have uh end-to-end encryption, like like the Google messages and and even Samsung messages, I think. But you have to be chatting with somebody who also has that that uh same app installed in order for it to be working. Uh and same goes for anything else.
SPEAKER_02iMessage and all that shit.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but so but but apparently um there's been breaches with these telecoms, and China's, of course, is the number one culprit here, I think. Um, anyways, basically, I think a lot of your messages can be hacked. Um, yes, there is still end-to-end encryption that may protect you, anyways. Um, they are now saying people should be using signal, they are um notifying their staff that they need to be using signal now. But here's the funny thing is that while these government agencies are are basically saying people should be using this app, there are other uh countries and agencies who are saying these tools need to have backdoors built in so that um police and law enforcement can basically get in and see your messages. Yeah, well, what see that so that's the thing, they are telling their employees to use these tools, and yet they are at the same time saying these companies, these tools need to have back doors built in so that we can access them anytime we want. Well, with a warrant, of course, not anytime we want. But so it's just it's like uh, you know, they are you know, they are uh they're giving one some information and yet they're doing other things to to basically get around the the encryption of some of these tools. Um anyways, anyways, people people should be using signal. Uh I yes, I still use SMS because I know some people don't, like you said, it's just some people don't like to switch. But if they really saw how this worked, and if they really again, like we always say, did some research, find out what's really going out on out there, and then you can make probably a better decision instead of saying, Oh, I'm just too lazy, all my friends are on WhatsApp, so I'm not gonna use anything else. Well, that's a that's a pretty stupid excuse. It really is, it's really lame. And um, yeah, that's just being ignorant, really. That's what it is. So I know I've switched some people over to Signal. I you and I use Signal now. I still don't know that you have converted anybody else, but I mean I've got you know, I've got some family members on Signal now and a few other people, and um, we use group chats, and um yeah, I think it works really well overall, and I don't understand the pushback that people have uh when it comes to these things.
SPEAKER_02So see, I have you on signal, I have another tech buddy of mine named Scott on Signal, and uh you're not supposed to tell anyone this, but my work group chat is on signal. Oh, okay. So um, so that's that's the three things I use signal for. Um I have another group chat on WhatsApp, uh two group chats on WhatsApp just for different things, and then for day-to-day stuff, uh a lot of iMessage going on, uh, but again, who really knows how secure that is. Uh, what else do we got? Uh Facebook Messenger, we can't trust Facebook. Uh, apparently Meta was fined, what 91 million dollars?
SPEAKER_04Yes, exactly.
SPEAKER_02So, I mean, sweet, like that's not good. Uh, I got um I woke up one morning a little while ago, and I have like a I don't know, it's like a 40 character password for my Facebook, my Google, and I guess, or Facebook and Meta, and that's the same thing. So Meta, Google, and bank. It's like 40 characters. So, like that, because that's your bread and butter of life, right? I woke up to a message one day saying my Facebook, someone tried to hack my Facebook because the I got a thing, hey, or I got a two-step security, like two-step validation or two-step verification. It came into my email, accessed if you're trying to access your Facebook. I'm like, oh, for fuck's sakes. So someone hacked that 40 character password I had. And it's so I'm assuming it got leaked because it's all numbers and characters. I couldn't even tell you what it was, it's all stored in a password manager. But you know what I mean? Like, I don't know how so I have to change that again, which was a fucking pain in the ass. And they make it so hard to change passwords and all this shit.
SPEAKER_04Well, you didn't use the same password for all three different accounts, did you?
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. Okay, it's all different. Okay, that's good. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04You never use the same password for different accounts. So yeah, that's uh one of the top rules when it comes to password generation uh and using passwords, configuring passwords for your account. So um yeah, I don't um yeah, I really don't know how these larger uh organizations and companies and stuff end up getting hacked like that. Um, you know, Meta, Google, all that sort of stuff. It's just like you you kind of they're already sharing your data, and now their systems are so shitty that they allow passwords to get hacked as well. I like I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I just don't know how it works.
SPEAKER_04Or maybe it was a maybe was it legit? Like it that's the thing. Do you know if it was if it was another legit?
SPEAKER_02Um yeah, everything was it came from Facebook, like it was uh so like uh when I changed it, it was the same email address. So like I I didn't click the link, I did it through yes, yeah. That's that's so I did it through the um through the web browser. I actually just did it through the app. So yeah, but yeah, it I couldn't figure it out through the web browser because they've moved stuff around so many fucking times.
SPEAKER_04It's just yeah, every once in a while I have to go in and help my mom, uh, or even even the better half here once in a while when they have questions or issues, and I just like holy fuck, I just uh it's been how long since I've been on Facebook? Uh it's been years, I don't know, eight years has it been that long? Uh I've been off Facebook for a long time. Yeah, um, it's just so different. I have no idea. I I don't know how to help you now because I don't know my way around anymore, and everything is different, it just looks different, it works different. Uh it kind of sucks if you want to uh try and offer some tech support for people when you when you don't use that technology yourself anymore or that platform.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's uh it's a different world out there. But you know, so we talked about messaging, we talked about this stuff, we've also talked about this in the past, but let's talk, let's just braise the surface on some of the telegram stuff. So you should not be using Telegram as your main messaging app.
SPEAKER_04Right. I mean, I mean telegelegraph does have some you know some encryption and stuff built in, but I don't think it's turned on by default. That's the number one problem with with uh with Telegram. It's not enabled by default. There's some other issues as well, of course, one of them being that it's a Russian company, so that's uh uh that's not so good. Hey, uh Telegram, I think, is is good, although I've never used it for this purpose. Telegram can be good for uh these groups that have been um started with by different organizations and companies like that. So it's good for information, good for sharing stuff, uh, good for chatting with people that way. But when you're coming when it comes to private and personal communications, I don't know why people would want to use something like telegraph. Telegram. Telegram, sorry, not telegraph. Um yeah, I I so I don't understand why people would want to do that. Um lots of again, yeah, lots of things uh with Telegram that have come up. Um you know, some of them some of the things, some of the stuff about Telegram, though, has been talked about that can happen with any of these uh platforms or tools, though, right? So you know, like one story here was what talked about these uh you know, these some of these far-right groups, um you know, fleeing Telegram because of the track from because of the crackdowns and stuff like that. You know, they arrested the owner in France and stuff, and you know, are trying to charge him with these different crimes and stuff just because he operates the the tool, he is not he's not promoting hate, he's not promoting violence or anything like that himself, but because he owns and operates this technology, people seem to think that he's liable for some of these other things that people are saying and doing, which is completely ridiculous. But um, because again, it can the same thing can happen with any of these any of these tools, and that's why these government or that's why law enforcement in a lot of these countries is trying to get them to create these back doors, right? Yeah, which defeats the whole purpose of of these tools in the first place. So I don't know, it's uh it's kind of crazy. But I just don't know. Yeah, so lots of tool or lots of information and stuff here. I'll provide all this stuff uh uh on the website and stuff with the with the episode and Yeah, check some of it out. But in particular, look at the signal stuff, and and again, you you gotta decide for yourself, but at least at least read up about some of it and learn why signal is being uh recommended uh by a lot of different organizations, including these governments and law enforcement agencies.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, it's good stuff. And again, our website is oldmenheal at clouds.com. Steven does a great uh job updating it and keeping it current and fresh and all that fun stuff. So everything we talked about every episode, and you can go back and listen to past episodes of our brilliance, everything you can find at oldmenheal at clouds.com. They brilliant.
SPEAKER_04Brilliant.
SPEAKER_02We are brilliant, we're brilliant individuals. Yes, we are. Um let's talk tunes, bro. We got a lot of good stuff this uh this year. So I've noticed uh so I just out of just out of the blue, I just like I posted top albums of 2024. Yep. So um, you know, I got uh Azale dying, Billy Eilish, M, Kelsey Ballerini, the new Lincoln Park, Poppy, New Offspring, Tovlo, um, another rap guy, Join the Lucas, the Judas Priest, which was both on both our lists, and Pearl Jam. Yeah, so I'm pretty sure you haven't listened to the Eminem album. I'm pretty sure you haven't listened to the Jordan the Lucas album. I'm pretty sure you haven't listened to Tovlo or probably even the Kelsey Ballerini, but have you listened? So that's four. So maybe I have six that are that might be you might have been on your radar. Did you listen to or see any of that stuff?
SPEAKER_04I can other than the songs you shared from uh like uh a band like As I Lay Dying. Um, of course, you did share Eminem, you even shared some Billy Eilish, Lincoln Park, you shared so I don't like uh you have shared some stuff, but really the only I haven't even listened to the Pearl Gem, actually, other than maybe what you shared. I have not listened to it. So other than Judas Priest and um looking at it and The Offspring, like I don't think I've listened to I I cannot say that I have sat down on my own and listened to any of the other albums other than the Well, I mean that's pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Two out of ten. That's not bad.
SPEAKER_04That's not bad. But I I can probably say the same about you. Well, maybe not as much. But here so here's the thing. I'm glad we're doing this. Um I kind of I I was I kind of winged it, really. And I I think with these lists, I think because we're in January now of 2025, I think I need to start making a list of as I listen to stuff throughout the year, just just write down the album and saying, you know, this could be a potential best of 2024 album. And then now way come December when we do these lists, uh I'll have a better idea as to what's going on and what I've listened to and what was actually really good or what I enjoyed. Because uh I know I enjoyed all of these albums, but again, I just there's probably others that could replace some of this stuff. Uh I don't know. And anyway, anyways, I do have some stuff here that you may not have listened to yourself. Uh I've got uh new albums from Judas Priest, Thousand Mods, uh uh Kausa Sui, uh Space Slug, which which is an awesome album, actually. I discovered them this year, went back and listed listened to all of their stuff. Uh The Saints. The Saints is an old punk band from Australia. Um they're not around still, but the reason why I put them on this list is because they've released a box set um from their first recordings, including that first album. Just great stuff. Fantastic stuff. Uh The Sword, they came out with the live album from Levitation this year. Uh it was recorded uh a number of years ago, but that is a new release this year. Uh Solstice Solstice Fear. Uh I played one of their tunes. They're uh an Iceland metal band. Uh Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This was a late release this year. Uh they're going back. The archives uh from Tom Petty, I think, are probably pretty massive. The family estate, I think, is going back and going through all this stuff and releasing some of it. This is a fantastic uh live performance from 1982. Uh High on Fire, you're aware of that. Lucifer, you're aware of that. I wanted to mention Van Halen. This is an old stuff that came out, uh, various forms of bootlegs, and um I don't know, it was released on vinyl for Record Store Day, Black Friday. And and you may have seen some of the bootleg footage or some other recordings along the way. Um this is a great performance, and people probably have overlooked it maybe over the years. It's a free concert in Dallas from 1991. Um there's a story behind the reason for the free show as well. I can leave a link for that. I don't think I left it in my prep, did I?
SPEAKER_02No, I didn't. No, I don't know. I'm not I didn't think it was a free show.
SPEAKER_04Uh anyways, anyways, it's it's a it's a it's a great uh it's a great performance. Um you know I don't think the set was very long. Um the audio recording is excellent. Uh again, it was released on vinyl for the first time for Record Store Day. I picked it up, it looks great, sounds great. Um the band's on fire. And uh so I wanted to mention that as well. So those are my tunes for 2024, my best of you know what's crazy about Van Halen?
SPEAKER_02I've only seen Van Halen once, and it was it was fucking cool, it was awesome, but I have now seen Wolfgang Van Halen more than Van Halen. That's funny because it's just but what's what's what's crazy about that is I'm watching this footage that you shared, and I'm watching my footage of Wolfgang. He's ex he plays and moves exactly like his dad. It's eerie to watch, yeah. But it's super cool.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. It's uh again, some of the bootleg stuff. Uh I apparently this uh this concert was released on DV or on Blu-ray with the uh with an anniversary issue of um uh what's that album called? Um uh OU812? OU OI What is what's that album called? Fuck. Uh 1984. No, no, it was this is nice nice try though. What the what the hell is the name of the album? OU812. OI812.
SPEAKER_02OU812. OU812, that's it, yes. It has what do you have on it? Uh Mine is mine, black and blue. Uh that's it. I'm out. Yeah, it's pretty good.
SPEAKER_04I think that's the name of the album, anyways. They they it's an anniversary issue, but in the uh they've included this concert, uh, a Blu-ray copy. And and the video I shared is from that, I think. Uh it's an official officially released uh uh video of uh a couple songs um that they have online, but you can see the whole concert if you pick up that package, that box set. Uh but the old bootleg footage is kind of shitty, it's you know, it's it doesn't look good, it doesn't sound great. Uh but you can see from the uh audio recording on the album plus the Blu-ray footage, including that clip I shared, you can see that see and hear that it's that it's really cool stuff, and it's uh and it's a good quality recording. So anyway, uh it's uh it's a two LP set, uh only three sides. The fourth side is uh is uh etching uh of the Van Halen logo. A lot of artists are doing that now with some of the releases if they don't if it doesn't fill four sides, they'll put uh some sort of logo or some sort of uh etching on the vinyl, which looks kind of cool. You kind of wonder why can't they squeeze it on one vinyl, but still, it's just they're innovating and doing some different things, I think, that they can do now with vinyl. And uh it's just kinda kinda neat.
SPEAKER_02But now they're forcing you to buy a fucking second one so you can display that cool etching.
SPEAKER_04I suppose. Yeah. I don't know. Is it meant for display though? I don't I think it's I don't know. I don't know. Anyways. Um yeah, I just I just love seeing some old footage of you know, like that and hearing these performances, hearing quality performances from some of these great bands way back then.
SPEAKER_02And again, it kind of goes, it goes back to a moment in time where it was fucking awesome. Yeah, and that's where all this shit stands from. So I think that's the important, and that's kind of like the the what fuels live music is you go and see a sweet moment in time about a performance in a decade and an artist that you listen to and enjoy and and all that stuff. Yep, that's right. But um, yeah, no, no good stuff. I sorry, uh, we talked about uh record store day. Um it was November 29th. Did you end up picking stuff? Were you in Edmonton for that? Did you pick anything up?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I was in I was in Edmonton, so I didn't go uh and then I spent a couple days in Calgary. I was gonna stop by a record store there. Um I didn't. Uh so when I got back to Vancouver, I went to a couple different places over a period of you know, a couple weeks uh just to see what was left. And and there wasn't a lot left. Uh this Van Halen uh album was the only one that I picked up. Um I think it was a bad it was a bad time. Like for me personally, there wasn't a lot uh out there that I was interested in anyways. So yeah, I don't know that I missed it. Maybe a couple things I could have considered if I was there uh that day. But uh yeah, I don't feel bad about missing out on most of that stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's I can't tell you the last time I bought a vinyl. I don't I don't even know. I don't even have a player set up anymore, like it's just I don't know. Yeah, I can't reach the awesome wall behind you.
SPEAKER_04Well it's well yeah, I know, and it's still growing. Yeah, that that's even better. That's the scary thing, I know. It's um but but you're right, it's you have to have and we don't have a big place, but you have to have a little bit of room for it. And um you need to you need to move into your own place, and maybe you can pull all that stuff out and proudly display it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Jesus. Well now I can't afford anything because I'm fucking single. It's even worse. But uh moving on. Um first pick of the week is uh new kill switch engage. Uh I fucking love kill switch engage. I think they are fantastic. Um They're back originally with their old singer. Um the guy he left for mental health issues, but then the new singer Howard Jones left for mental health issues, but now the new guy, old guy, is back, and this is his third album back with them. And uh no, this is the stuff I was this is what influenced me as a musician. This is just good stuff. Uh they're coming to Vancouver in March, March 14th, and I will be at Ted's show. I'm very excited to see the boys at Kill Switch Engage. Uh, who else is opening for them? I don't actually remember. But uh, are you a fan of the Kill Switch? Have you ever seen them live?
SPEAKER_04Uh I saw them live um once down in Seattle. What was that show down in Seattle? 2000, it was early, 2009 or something like that. The metal show at uh the White River. Uh it's when I saw Slayer, Marilyn Manson. Uh those were the headlights.
SPEAKER_02Monster? It was Monster Energy tour with the city. Yes, that's exactly that was it. Yeah.
unknownYeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So I saw Kale Switch then. Uh I saw Trivium then, I saw Behemoth then. There were some really cool bands. Uh because they had three stages. Um yeah, there it was, it was a just a one-day festival, but it was pretty good. Lots of cool bands there.
SPEAKER_02That's badass. But uh yeah, new can the new album's coming out in March, I think. So very excited for new kill switch on the horizon. What else do we got? Spirit Box. I fucking love music spirit box. Um I saw them when they opened for corn uh both last in October, I think it was, and they're coming to town May the 6th. So I purchased a ticket for that, and I'll see these kids. Uh they're Canadian, they're Vancouver kids. Yeah, Vancouver Island kids. So yeah, that's cool.
SPEAKER_04They seem to be doing quite well for themselves, and I know you've been playing lots of their stuff, and they've been touring lots, and yeah, right on.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, this song is called Perfect Soul, and they have another album coming out in March. So March is shaping up to be a pretty good uh a good year or good month of music. Uh March the 7th is when Tsunami C comes out.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02So uh Spirit Box, check those kids out. Um Found New Monster Truck. What the fuck happened to Monster Truck? They fell off the ledge when they collaborated with Kid Rock. This seems like to be a uh tribute to the one and only Lemmy who we lost eight years ago, I think it was.
SPEAKER_04Uh eight uh I can't remember. Was it 2015? So it would have been nine years ago. Nine years ago.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But uh Monster Truck always always having a good time, and this song actually kicks ass, so I was pretty excited to hear this. I don't know where it came from where I found it. It was just around one day. I'm like, holy shit, this is awesome.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, it's I mean, it's nothing nothing.
SPEAKER_02Nothing, they're not breaking the burrowing. It's Monster Truck.
SPEAKER_04It is back to their kind of older stuff, their old uh rocking, uh having fun days, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, good old rock stuff, yeah. Uh so good on Monster Truck, no word on new albums or anything. They released a bunch of shit, but this is I think they said they had a bunch of leftover stuff from the vault, which they're gonna come up with. But who knows what's going on with these boys, but good old Monstruck. Right on. Uh I I was ad-targeted by these. This band that was on the Instagram and this band ad target me. The song is called uh her song. It's called uh by a band called Parts Permillion. Just uh decent rock track. I don't know, don't really know much about these guys. I I didn't even research it. I heard it last night and I'm like, oh, this is going in. So uh yeah, not a bad song. Did you get uh give this song a spin?
SPEAKER_04I I did, I listened to it, it's not so bad. I read the comments, it looked like everybody got ad targeted somehow by YouTube for this uh for this track. So um kind of kind of I've never seen a video before where people discovered an artist this way and commented on it. That's uh that's the thing. It's the first time I've seen that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it's different, because yeah, now that I've ripped through, yeah, ad targeted for YouTube, ad targeted for Instagram, ad targeted through TikTok. Yeah, so yeah, they're gonna be spending a fuck ton of money to get ad targeted like this.
SPEAKER_04They must be, yes.
SPEAKER_02Or somebody is. Yeah. Well, that's gotta be the new normal for this shit, man. Like, there's like how are you getting music out? They're not playing the stuff on your local radio. Like, you gotta get it's gotta hit you. So maybe that's the best way to do it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, for sure. You you it's things are a lot different now. And I was going to comment on on the YouTube ads now is that um, and I'm sure this will get fixed uh somewhere along the way, but now like if I with Firefox, if you have the uBlock origin plugin uh installed, I get no ads, like no YouTube ads at all, like nothing. Yeah, that's I mean, but now uh I just noticed this yesterday, I think. Um now a what appears to be an ad, it's a blank screen, but you may see the title of the ad in the bottom left corner. Uh that appears for a couple of seconds and then the video starts, then it goes right to the video. So YouTube or Google has done something here to try and get around these these blockers, right? It's it's still not working. Uh and that's good because I I fucking hate the ads. Um but these these plugins, these other these these you know, these blockers are always one step ahead. And uh there's always going to be a way to bypass these these ads, and um yeah, so Google can piss off and they can try all they want, it's not gonna work. So they're just annoying people. That really they're just but back to the music, yes. Um yeah, people need to innovate a little bit and try and find other ways of getting that exposure. Yeah, reaching out, yep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so it's uh it's a different time for music, but that's okay. And uh one more for you Metallica played a gig uh December 13th in uh Los Angeles, they did for their benefits, All Within My Hands Foundation, and they reworked fuel. Give me fuel, give me five. And it's uh they the kids online are calling this the Swamp version. Um and it's fucking cool. Um it's just like, you know, you can hear it, it's slowed down, it's cool. It's kind of bluegrassy bit to it, but it's just uh it's a cool rework. They seem to rework some a song for this benefit show all the time, just reworking their stuff. But um dig this version of fuel. Did you uh you give this a listen?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I didn't mind this at all. And um, yeah, it's it's yeah, I think this is a it's a good thing. Like people people love hearing all the classics and I don't know, whenever they re rework versions of their songs, um you know, especially for special events like this, it's always a cool thing.
SPEAKER_02It's uh it just keeps it fresh. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_04I uh I actually saw the well that entire show was posted on YouTube. Yes uh for how long, I don't know, so I've ripped a copy, but uh it looks pretty good. Um lots of cool interviews. Uh who did I see there at the start?
SPEAKER_02Um it was um uh it was Sammy Hagar.
SPEAKER_04Yes, yeah, Sammy Sammy Hagar was on there. Um yeah, yeah, Tom Morello, I think, was interviewing him, I think, wasn't he?
SPEAKER_02Yep, he was doing the uh red carpet or the black carpet. The black carpets of yes, of course. Uh Metallica, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so you gotta do something. Yeah, so I I'm interested in kind of watching that whole thing. I mean, it's over three hours long, I guess. That's so it takes a little bit of time, or it will take a little bit of time to get through that, but it looks like it's just a cool, it's a cool event that Metallica's doing. Obviously, it's cool uh raising money for for charity and stuff like that, and for those in need. Um, but some good interviews, some good performances along the way, too.
SPEAKER_02So and they did uh they do an acoustic set and then they do a plugged in set. So saying Metallica Acoustic is fucking cool too. Yeah, yeah, right on. Um good stuff. That's it. Um what do you spend in this for the last couple weeks?
SPEAKER_04So I've got uh band called Year of the Cobra. Year of the Cobra, they're a duo from uh from Seattle. Um this is a song called Wardrop. It came out about a month ago. It's uh yeah, just being a two-piece, it's it's pretty good. It's really heavy stuff. Um they've come up here a couple times to Vancouver and I've never seen them. It would be a really cool show, I think. Um and their their entire catalog is is pretty good. So I'm quite familiar with the band. They've been around for a little bit. Some good tunes.
SPEAKER_02No, I like this. Um I've also picked there's a band called Rock's Fairy 2. Another two-piece coming up. Oh, okay. It seems like, you know, after Royal Blood broke it. I mean, there's obviously more. There was that there's that Canadian band that do it as well. Uh but yeah, two-piece stuff is awesome.
SPEAKER_04Well, and and bands like White Stripes and um who's the other I can't think of them now. Um Dan Auerbach, but uh I remember the game. Oh Black Keys! Black Keys. I mean bands like that kind of I mean I think I think two-piece bands have been around for a while. Uh they they weren't the first ones by any means, but it seems like those bands really brought more attention to this to the sound, I guess. Like because you've either got a you've got drums and either a bass guitar or drums and uh an electric guitar, but the sound that is can be captured uh even live is really incredible. Um and yeah, so some of it's really cool. So in this case it's uh drums and a bass bass guitar, but yeah, it almost sounds like it could be an electric guitar uh at times, right? Um really heavy stuff though. Good stuff, good stuff. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Um yeah, is there an album coming out from them? I'm not sure if this comes from an album or if it was just a uh year of the Cobra. Uh the second song is uh is King Diamonds. Like uh it's this guy has been around for such a long time. Uh putting out uh new music. I never did see that show back in uh back in December here. I wish I uh would have gone, it would have been really cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it makes it.
SPEAKER_04Uh and this song is awesome. This is uh song called Spider Lily Plastic King Diamond.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's so good. You know, I forgot about this song until you played it, and it's actually Yeah, it's really, really good.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah. And just uh watching the video, it's just kinda it's it's just kinda cool. Love this.
SPEAKER_02How old is King Diamond?
SPEAKER_04I don't know, but he you know, he had a heart attack uh not so long ago, I think. Um He's gotta be in his 70s though, isn't he? It's 68 years ago. 68, okay. Yeah, crazy. All of these guys are still around and playing this kind of music. It's it's really cool. These old guys just keep going. Um by the way, Lemmied passed away December 28th, 2015. So he's been gone nine years. Yep. Yep. Uh my last song is goes back to that uh our chat about Van Halen. Uh this is one of the songs I was talking about. I think this is the uh the song that kicks off the uh the concert. Uh it's called Pound Cake. Uh it's a freaking stuff. Uh, yeah. And they're just they're just having a time man. It's just uh you watch you watch Eddie, just having such a great time. And uh again. Well Sammy's sounds great, the rest of the band is tight too tight. Yeah, it's uh I mean I I still have to say uh love the early rough stuff for that. Yeah. But there are there's some good music that came from uh when Sammy Hager was part of the band. Yeah, I know. Yeah. Yeah, check check out um well again, check out the entire album because it's uh it it sounds great. The songs are good. They play uh even a couple of Sammy Hager songs at this uh at this pre-show. Um they play one old song uh from the David Roth days, but um it's it's I don't know. Just uh good stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I gotta I gotta look this up because I wasn't I'm not too familiar with it. So again, an awesome performance caught in time. I gotta check this out. Yeah, definitely. Do it. Um yeah, sweet. Uh you can find all this music stuff again at old man's heal oldman who yellowclouds.com. Uh yeah, we sometimes we listen to good stuff, okay? Sometimes. Sometimes. Sometimes. Uh are you are you are you up to date? Are you still watching a bunch of shows? It looks like you're still crushing a bunch of shit.
SPEAKER_04We're watching all kinds of stuff. Um lots of TV shows. Um I I know I've probably mentioned some of these uh along the way. The seasons are now finished for uh shows like Lioness, uh The Diplomats, The Old Man, all that sort of stuff. A couple new ones I watched called La Palma and Earth Abides. They were okay. Nothing nothing great. But uh but some new shows have started here. Landman's a good one. You know, this I make fun of this guy. Well, I don't make fun of him, but I kind kind of comment about this guy, this Taylor Sheridan, who seems to have his hand in all of these TV shows now. Um he's a pretty busy guy. He even gets involved in some of the acting of in some of these shows. Um I don't like some of what he does. Like the you like Yellowstone is a perfect example. He just seems to he throws in this filler content and just seems to glorify the cowboy life at times uh in that show, and it's just kind of kind of ridiculous. He does that at times in some of the other shows. Um but yeah, like like like just look at what he's he's done lately though, and the different shows. It seems like he's moved from film to TV now, though. Anyways, he's doing lots of TV. Um anyway, so Landman is his latest. Season one is ongoing. Uh season two of Silo is a really cool sci-fi apocalypse apocalyptic uh type show. Um it's with um Rebecca. Rebecca, she was in the uh Tom Cruise. Rebecca, what's the Ferguson? Ferguson, yes. Yeah. So she's in that uh pretty good show. I I really you have to be kind of a sci-fi. Well, you don't even need to be a sci-fi person, it's just more post-apocalyptic. Uh if you like that sort of stuff, then you'll like the show. Uh it is based on a book, apparently, I which I didn't read, so I don't know how it compares. Uh, but it's a pretty good series. Uh and Black Doves we just started watching, uh, so that seems okay too. Um I wanted to comment on a couple movies, Heavy Trip and Heavier Trip. Just some crazy Norwegian heavy metal, black metal shows, uh movies. Those are you know, I I really enjoyed Heavy Trip, the first one. It came out in 2018. Um there's some slapstick stuff happening there. It's more comedy. Of course, it's it's all it is music related, so it's all kind of really cool. Uh, it was a good it was a good movie. I actually enjoyed Heavy Trip, the first one. Heavier Trip just came out this year. Um I don't think it's as good. I think it's a good decent sequel, I guess. Um not as good of a of a movie. I th I I think they just kind of did try to do the same thing again and it just seemed didn't seem to work. Um so there was that. Carry-on was a decent movie here at Christmas time that we watched.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was actually really good. Yeah. A lot of cool little twists and turns. Um Jason Bateman as a bad guy is fantastic.
SPEAKER_04He is, he seems to do that role really well. Um lots of comparisons to Die Hard, though I found in that movie, but still it was entertaining. Uh, and I did see a movie in a theater, actually. My my probably one a year movie. Uh I saw Nosferatu. Oh fuck, I want to see that. Was that awesome? So it was pretty good. It's yeah, I mean it's it's it's it's not a new story, obviously. It's Nosferatu came out uh in theater. Like I think the first Nosferatu movie was in 1929 or something like that. Yeah. Um, and of course, so it's Dracula. So there's it's there's multiple versions of Dracula and Nosferatu out throughout the years. Um so it is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, of course. Uh just a new version of it. Uh the acting is really cool. It's uh I think it's a uh it's uh yeah, it's a pretty good movie. I enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I gotta see that.
SPEAKER_04Uh so let's see. That's that's my yeah, we've been watching a fair bit over the holidays and uh since we last chatted.
SPEAKER_02So uh see, I don't want like I I need to watch more shit, but uh I only watched a couple things. I watched Gladiator 2, I saw that in theaters. Yeah, uh, and it's now you can find it everywhere. It was cool. It's a decent sequel. The first one I thought was still more epic, but again, it's done by Ridley Scott. It's still it's still worth the watch. Yeah. I watched that Amazon Prime special, the Lord of the Rings, Rings of Power season two. It was decent, it just builds upon the lore. I think it takes place um like a thousand years before The Hobbit, if you follow the Lord of the Rings series. So that's cool. I watched Craven the Hunter, it's a Marvel spin-off thing. Uh it's okay, don't really it's cool action scenes, but doesn't really do much. And I watched a show called The Wild Robot. It's like an animated cartoon thing, but it actually really has a cool message. So if you're into watching something lighthearted, whatever it is, it's an animation thing called the Wild Robot. Pretty solid flick. Okay, cool. I just end up playing a lot of video games. Have you touched that Xbox since I gave it to you? Have you played any hockey for that? Are you uh I haven't sitting in a bag? Is it is it hooked up at least?
SPEAKER_04Oh, it's it's hooked up. Oh, yeah. Oh shit. It's hooked up and ready to go, but I can't say I've done a lot with it. And how long have I had that now? A year two, three years, two years, yeah. Yeah, it's no, it's it's there, man.
SPEAKER_02It's uh see that's where my time goes because I'm instead of watching TV shows, I'm getting called a bitch by a 12-year-old playing Call of Duty. Uh but other than that, it's she ain't too bad.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we've been we've been watching a fair bit, but yeah, I don't know, and like I said before, I don't know where the time goes sometimes. Like I always hope or plan to do things, and I just never get around to doing some of the stuff. Like uh we movies, TV, uh music, and then I want to do lots of shit with my home lab and do some stuff here, and uh even cleaning up my storage room and going through some of the boxes of crap, and like I was gonna do some of that stuff here over Christmas, and I never did. Where's the time going?
SPEAKER_02It just gets away. It just gets away. Is this what getting old is? Are we old?
SPEAKER_04Yes. It's what you and everybody else has to look forward to.
SPEAKER_02I'm so excited. You should be so excited. You should be. Alright, well, on that depressing note. Uh, do you have anything else do you want to say?
SPEAKER_04Uh that's it. I think uh let's see. No, no, everything else is good. I think we covered a lot of what we wanted to, and lots of uh lots of stuff happening over the last couple months, but uh good to catch up. Good to catch up.
SPEAKER_02We'll try to do this more later. Like just gets fucked up. I think I had to cancel the weekend because I got sick and then I did soup. It was just a shit show. But now that my life is a little back on track and I have more time on my hands, uh, we should be able to get a couple more episodes. I'll still work on some guests uh now that we're kind of back in the new year and everyone's back in promo mode, so we'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, that sounds good. Uh one real quick thing I forgot about sportsnet. Rogers can fuck off because I I wanted I wanted to bring this up and I won't there's not there's not a this won't take long. No, no, no, that's all good. But you remember the story about me being tired of Rogers and Sportsnet. Well, I I I did complain to them a couple times, and I even went and said, you know, listen, you know, I'm done with you. Please give me a refund. And and the thing is I never heard from them. So I kept I kept watching, and of course I kept getting pissed off when things happened. And uh eventually I went to watch a hockey game, and it was like I couldn't connect. Like I there was no hockey game. Like I couldn't and I so I went to log in. I figured, well, okay, well, my I just got logged out or something like that. I tried to log in and everything like that. It said nope, yeah, you have to have a subscription in order to watch the hockey games. So so they finally, after me complaining, I and I forgot about it, I just figured they were ignoring me and it wasn't gonna happen. They finally canceled my subscription and gave me a refund. So I'm back to actually actually I'm I'm pretty happy about that because I was it was driving me crazy. I was getting pissed off. And uh yes, it means that I have to find my hockey uh in other ways, uh, but I'm surviving, I'm managing. I'm yeah, I'm I'm uh life goes on, right? So uh and I'm not giving money to Rogers anymore. That's it, I'm done with them. So wanted to bring that up. Uh can't sort of end that story there on a sort of a good note, I suppose. You won the battle. Um, I would, yeah, I would say yes I did. I would like to say yes I did. So Rogers, take a hike.
